Lovely staff and family friendly atmosphere. The prices are decent but a bit higher than I remember for just doughnuts (inflation I'm guessing). The doughnuts are very fresh and tasty, just know that the staff is young and probably new so be patient as they are young and super sweet. This place is great, I've gone several times and I love that they have a deli option for sandwiches and wraps because sometimes I need a real meal before I eat my dessert. I experienced what would have been a total Disaster because I ordered a birthday donut for my son a week in advance and when I called to check the morning of.... They had no record of it YIKES! Mary's is the best. 24hr donut shop whose quality is consistently top notch. Love to bring in the kids. The employees are friendly and helpful, and they always seem to have something new and special to try. This time it was little mini donuts! Kids loved them. P.S. the deli employees need training in food handling. I've had them remake a sandwich on two separate occasions when they touched the trash can to move it in the middle of preparing my sandwich. In other words... touch the food, touch the trash can, then touch the food again without washing or changing gloves. The donuts are great. We'll just skip the deli. read more

So unfortunate but the older ladies especially the Mexican lady with glasses are some of the rudest people. Like just mean and unhappy. The younger girls are super nice. I felt compelled to make this post so that hopefully a manager or owner sees it and behavior can change. It's also a bit dirty. Usually it's very clean. We never got a hello and the lady acted like she was doing us a favor. It was a special day for my son so we stopped to get him donuts. Just very weird and rude behavior. Mary's. Is was a warm day with a soft breeze. I was driving through lakeside with the wind in my hair. And there you were. I wasn't planning on a donut. But, it was Mary's. The Famous Mary's. Flip a B. And parked the car and there I was. My favorite favorite donut of all time is a whipped cream filled donut. Many places have Bavarian cream or Jelly filled or ... but I like the sweetened thick whipped cream that's almost like frosting, but not quite. And there she was. Chocolate on top. And a dollop of cream to show me what I was gettin'. An ultra soft raised oversized donut with chocolate on top. I took my donut and soda (don't judge) and sat in the patio and read the newspaper that was laying in the table. Nice family with a couple of fun loving boisterous boys having a good ol' day soon joined me. Kids were loving it. Ma and pa looked all lovey watching the kids enjoy their treat. Awe. I want a sweetheart like that. Finished the donut and the day's paper and went back to meet my clients to show country houses. i bought a ham and cheese croissant and it was burned and salty brought it back and the rude hispanic cashier gave me another. I drove away and then discovered that the replacement was burn and over salty and got a refund. from the silver head earth mom manager made a comment that others liked their crossaints burnt, She refused to remove the bad products and turned it around to make it look like it was my fault, Her service was horrible and I instead of dealing with poor service and products I was made to look like a diva and I am not happy with their way of talking behind customers backs, Another time the hispanic cashier said to come up and she would help me out and when I came up I was told I was out of line by someone and to go back. I admit visiting Mary's Santee location on the regular, but I did not realize they had a second location until recently. Made the stop for a late night snack. Great variety of classic donut goodness that does not disappoint. They had my favorite bacon maple bar available, but I was in a blueberry mood. Their cake donut game is strong and very familiar to my neighborhood shop. They also have the other faves too, like fruit burritos, cream puffs, and delectable donut holes at reasonable prices. The only difference between stores was the soda pop dispenser. Both are self-serve, but this location has Pepsi, while the other has Coke...If that matters to you, and they have coffee and milk as well. Easy donut shop to find with curbside parking and an open lot behind the store. Enjoy. read more

Mary's donuts is an iconic part of San Diego East County. It's been around forever. Mary herself is off and there. They have lots of customers but they are really good about moving people through quickly. The donuts are very good. I've had a variety of their donuts and think they are all great. Their pricing is reasonable. And you can order a box of donuts ahead of time and it will be sitting on the table when you get there so if you're in a hurry it's still a good place to go. I highly recommend the maple bacon doughnut. Honestly the best maple bacon donut I've ever had - better than some pricey donuts I've tried before. Also recommend the raised crumb. I decided on this place even though it's a bit of a drive from where I live because the pictures and menu seemed bomb! I placed a special order the Wednesday before a Sunday morning event. I called Saturday afternoon to confirm my order and was told they didn't have an order for me.. "I don't know what to tell you, we don't have it," they said. They seemed irritated with me and told me I must've ordered with a different location (double checked other locations and phone records, I had not made that mistake.) I left my phone number and they said they would call me back shortly and I could place the order again since there was still time. No one called me back. Sunday morning I drove to a different donut shop to buy donuts since it seemed like I had slipped through their cracks and there was a closer donut shop in my town anyways. I received a call that evening asking why I hadn't shown up to pick up my 4 dozen donuts. I began to explain that they had said they had lost my order and never called me back to replace it..but the employee hung up on me mid sentence. I'm always kind to people To people in customer service because I know how rough it can be, I was never rude or angry on the phone...so I'm bummed that I received that treatment. I hate leaving poor reviews but I wouldn't risk an order with them again given my last experience. read more

First time trying out Mary's donuts! Did you know that she still works here sometimes? Well not this location her other one from what I've been told, that's why I gave a 4 star rating since she wasn't here... jk lol, staff was nice, many donuts to pick from but I would say I ended up with the white frost and rainbow sprinkles and let me tell you that donut was way to dry.. I usually pick this one and at roses it typically isn't so dry, my girl got the soft bottom chocolate all over literally, on the top, inside, everywhere that one tastes fresher in my opinion, may I go back?
