A home-cooked meal vibe. This place is super cozy and everything was seriously delicious. I had a chocolate chip scone with "the works" (cream and jam) 10/10. Best scone I've ever had. Chocolate was slightly melty and the cream and jam pairing really made it. Also had the Irish sausage egg and cheese. Again 10/10! I didn't have high hopes for it because it's just a sausage egg and cheese but WOW. Easily in my top 3 on Long Island. I will be back for sure. One small callout is that they were on the slow side but the servers are super attentive to you. I overheard one of them say they only have a max of two pans going in the back so I get why they're slow. And although food is a bit slow to come out, they come around with free coffee refills often. read more

Flipping on the AM dial and cross referencing with my NOAA app, the approaching storm was too close to pass up on getting a beachfront view of. What really can we be certain of that lurks within the darkening stratus or the thick nimbus - it made me think about the "Parkway Ends' sign. Combined together, we had to run for the beach--and I was on my way somewhere else. Quickly zipping into a perfect parking spot, I exited thinking about a bread shop that made the highest Yelp marks but a little corner cafe caught my eye. Set with Kelly green linen cloth, i sat nustled into the middle outside table, sipped the morning coffee and absorbed the moment. I guess the storm headed off, I dunno, I got entranced into the menu of Irish breakfasts. I'm coming out of the gate talking about Mary's bread. Nutty, wholesome and colored molasses brown, I can't recall the last I've had of this sturdy stuff. Blood sausage, pork links, beans and two fried eggs that were brilliant yellow, sturdy texture held off the fork a bit, silky and buttery and a treat to behold. Any breakfast lover would be doing themselves a disservice to not sit here at Marys and enjoy not only an excellent traditional Irish breakfast, but service fit for a king. read more

Finally made it out to Long Beach one morning to try this place and I was super underwhelmed. My Irish breakfast was overdone and frankly wasn't that good. There were a few open tables and we still waited a while for our food. They are apparently under new management and the new owner was very rude and snippy to us when we shared our thoughts with her. The best place for breakfast in Long Beach, was the best kept secret for a while but the secret is out. Only a few tables inside and out but you are lucky if you score one. Best place to sit on the sidewalk and sip a Cappuccino before you start your beach day. Food is delicious- I had the poached eggs today but usually go for a Bacon egg and cheese sandwich with Irish bacon. The coffee is Lavazza - so latttes and cappuccinos are terrific. They go perfectly with the homemade Scones - which are among the best I've ever had. Also if they have them, you have to buy he homemade Sheppards pie to go. Take it home and put it in the oven for 45 minutes - it feeds 3-4 people and is the BEST I've ever tasted. read more
