Pulled pork
Chris C.

Love this place, been here probably 20 times when I lived in the area. You can tell it's local and made on site as the bbq sauce and the other sauces have different flavor and heat depending on who made it and what day. They are famous for their desserts and their bbq is pretty tasty. I recommend anyone looking for good Florida BBQ to stop here. Be careful at your table sometimes as they don't always wipe them down well, which means BBQ sauce will get on your shirt.

Nope, I'll never come back. I wanted a few bites off my brothers plate and the waitress said, there will be an upcharge to share. I was going to pick the pork chop up and take a bite off of it. I didn't get an extra plate or silverware. The owners GREED at its worse!!! Mary's kitchen is in Florida and it is so dark and gloomy in here. The sun is so bright right now too. The waitress was so sweet. She was so apologetic that her boss is so money hungry.

This place is great. I ordered the fried chicken tenders. The chicken was so tasty. It came with Mac and cheese and bake beans. Both sides were great. The service was great. I loved the coziness of the atmosphere.

Amazing southern comfort food here! We had the catfish, chicken tenders and porktato. Everything was excellent. The catfish was fired perfectly. The tartar sauce was good. And the hush puppies were amazing! The fries were good too. Ranch is made in house. (Anyone who reads my reviews knows this is important to me.) The chicken tenders were chunks of real breast meat, fried to perfection. The porktato (pulled pork on a potato) was good too. The pulled pork could have had a little more smoke flavor and bark. If you go, you have to get a slice of their pie. I had the key lime. It was the best key lime I had all week in the Destin/Fort Walton area. It actually had some zing to it. Seems like a lot of restaurants are making a weak key lime to cater to tourists. I like it zesty!

We were seated immediately even on a busy evening however that's where it ended. The host forgot our highchair and then we must have been invisible as no one came to our table for quite some time to the point we were going to leave. Im guessing she was a manager stopped by asked if we had been greeted yet, she took our drink order and offered some bread (it was good). It was still quite awhile until the server came to the table. We ordered some appetizers and then eventually our meals. The pizza did not live up to the reviews and my vodka sauce was lacking flavor.

The service was quick but can take longer if they are extremely busy. Go early!!! A line forms and continues thru the dinner hour. There are two places side by side one serves all steamed seafood and the other spot serves fried, baked/broiled/sauteed. All equally delicious. You order at the counter, and pick up at the steaming place and they bring it to your table at the other place. The indoor seating is limited. Run, don't walk! Go early! BYOB if that's your pleasure. We went there twice in 5 days and I am a food snob. For some reason I was more interested in diving in than taking pictures. Enjoy! Southern food includes Meat-and-Three restaurants, barbeque, fried ANYthing, fresh caught fish, and…read morehunted game. Hominy, hush puppies, cornbread, grits, Alabama white sauce on any meat, especially smoked chicken, are all popular in Alabama. BBQ is practically a religion in the South! As former certified Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) certified judges, my husband and I completed the training and paid the fees to be certified. The "KCBS way" is different from a lot of people's preferences in that, for example, a BBQ rib should actually have some "pull" to it, meaning, when you bite into it, your mouth should leave a mark in the rib. This means "fall off the bones" ribs are not KDBS quality, despite how many love that rib consistency. The KCBS judges slots fill up so quickly and required us to travel at our own cost and we did not judge any KCBS events. Back to Southern food. Deep fried double Oreos are one of the many fried foods here in Huntsville, and Melt restaurant features them on their menu. Meat-and-Three restaurants feature a meat (usually fried pork chop, meatloaf, BBQ, fried catfish, country fried steak/chicken) and three sides (fried okra, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked potato, potato salad, cole slaw, French fries) and bread options such as cornbread, rolls, hush puppies. While Southern Cooking is absolutely delicious, I have to limit it because lets face it, it is high in calories and cholesterol. When I do indulge, it's shrimp and grits, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, and fried whole okra.

This is really a Rouses grocery store with an excellent deli area. I like that the meats and…read moreofferings are fresh. I like to get my fruit here because it is often locally sourced and very fresh. The staff is always helpful and cooperative. Sometimes it's pretty busy because of tourists, but everyone is always kind.
