The place was really cute and had really good ambiance. The food was a little overpriced for what you get. I had the fried fish and it came with two thin pieces of fish and 6 pieces of bread. The fish was also a little too salty. The fries were good but at the price of the entrée I would hope the fish would be better than the fries. They also only serve wine and beer. Ambiance and service here were the highlights. The restaurant is set in an older historic home and it contains some interesting antiques. Server was attentive and informative. Now to the food... I ordered the broiled stuffed flounder which came with a twice baked potato and steamed vegetables which were both good. The flounder however came swimming in a literal pool of butter, thus making the stuffing which is underneath the fish soggy and butter soaked. This dish had so much potential but with this execution, it fell short. I regretted not ordering a steak or prime rib. Next time I'll know. read more

We recently made our second visit to Magnolia Grill and unfortunately we were disappointed again. The service was less than attentive, we waited quite a while after initially being seated before our waitress approached. My wife ordered a Pinot Grigio and our waitress showed up with a Pinot Noir. Then, she proceeded to insist my wife ordered the Noir. She absolutely didn't, I was sitting right there and heard it with my own ears. I don't give out many 5 star reviews but tonight this place deserves it. We entered the business about 10 minutes prior to our 5 pm reservation and expected a wait, which we did until about 4:58 pm. There is a small war museum upstairs that can help with the wait as there is plenty to see. The place is beautifully decorated for the Christmas holiday and music is played live by a gentleman on his key board. Usually the hostess is known for her unfriendly/snippy manor but tonight she was smiles, charming and accommodating. I believe it helped set the tone for the remainder of the evening. This is my 4th visit here over the years and my parents and their friends who winter here go here a few times each winter for brunch, lunch or dinner and they state they always have a good meal. Our waitress was very attentive. They had a few nightly specials not on the menu which one in our party ended up ordering. I had the rib eye steak with black bean soup. You have a choice of soup or salad. My father gave me his salad so I was able to experience that too. The black bean soup was tasty and loaded with beans. The salad was crisp. The steak was amazingly tender. The server explained that they trim their own steaks and the leftover trims that can't be sold are cooked and put under the steak you order to help present the steak. So, when you order steak you get a little extra of "whatever" the cooked trim is. That tastes good as well but was a little strange eating steak that didn't have a name attached meaning I had no idea what kind of steak scraps I was eating...lol. The steak had a mushroom and light sauce over it and was served with an awesome arrangement of cooked veggies and a small side of noodles with Alfredo sauce that was tasty as well. The others in my party had chicken Alfredo, scallops and crab cakes with shrimp. All reported their meals were near perfect deliciousness. I would love to go back for a lunch and check out some of their lunch items. Hopefully I can get there this year yet! read more

Dont go right before closing (7:30), you'll feel rushed and they push the food out, skipping corners. If you want chunky sauce that requires a fork, this place is for you. BEWARE, portions of my dinner was microwaved, the sauce is literally a thick chunky tomato soup. I told the waitress before ordering im not a big fan of chunky sauce and she said it would be fine, I may have to remove a piece or two, I had to scrape the entire amount of sauce and lost my appetite. Calling the owner the next day did nothing except hurt the chefs feelings and act like I was the problem. if you want microwaved, reheated imposter Italian food, this is your place. Be warned, don't complain about anything, they bury their head in the sand and act like it's YOUR problem. read more

The Magnolia Grill is a must visit restaurant in Ft Walton Beach. The owners are a very patriotic Veteran couple who pour their heart into the community. They have a museum of artifacts from WW2, the Doolittle Raiders, and the history of the Ft Walton Beach area. The food is great and the atmosphere is wonderful. It had no taste and on the tough side, baked potato was premade frozen quality, frozen vegetables that were not cooked, tough. First time visit. The ambiance is very pleasant. Nice piano music playing in a old house decorated with an antique vibe. Relaxing atmosphere for dining. Our meal was slow paced and not rushed at all. Went here based on recommendations from colleagues. It is a quaint, lovely space that takes you back to the old times. My issue is we were charged a $12 "sharing fee" because my 90 year old mother who is not capable of eating even half of a meal, was with us and I just wanted to give her my baked potato that came with my meal. That is simply all she can eat, and they would not allow us to order her a "kid's portion" which every restaurant we have been to has allowed for elderly in her condition. I get that it's a fav amongst the locals but there's so many other places to dine that are willing to accommodate elderly and the particulars of their appetite nuances at no extra cost. Changed the rating from 1 to 3 for their ribeye dish. read more
