Great chill bar and from what I hear: the improvements from the last iteration are evident. A pretty clean local bar, with a pool table, decent seating, and you can watch Drag Race on Friday's, great for the community! My biggest piece of feedback is that the mic volume and the tv volume are too loud! Understand it's a bar, showing a show, but I don't think it needs to be this loud.

Love love love this bar! We live on Haight and it's our new go to. Connor is a fantastic bartender. He and Maria are the best team! Negronis are great! On slower nights it's a great place to play pool. Great community vibe here. Truly the perfect place to drink. Neighborhood dive vibes that are worth traveling for. Love the Christmas decorations too!

A relaxed vibe with charming details like the old cash register that is still actively in use. Friendly bartenders who serve up drinks with some friendly banter especially with the regulars. Worth a stop in if you're exploring Castro for the first time. Make this an early stop on your crawl. Happy Pride!

I haven't been to this establishment since 2017. And to say that it has changed is not only…read moreshocking but is most unfortunate. I've read the reviews, some call it the glass coffin, but people make the atmosphere in any setting. Whether it's the patrons or the staff... the life blood of any business are the people. Unfortunately, the bartender that had the arduous task of serving me and my guest from New York has forgotten this. On Tuesday 8/11/26 between 5 & 6pm, my friend and I were going to end our revisit to the Castro at T.P.T. (Twin Peaks Tavern) And instantly I smiled because, I remembered my first time there in 2017 on a Saturday night. I'll never forget two lovers were arguing and as they passed one of the big picture windows; guy-A slammed the head of guy-B into the window. Which is probably standard operating procedure for insecure gays and alcohol in the Castro. (back to present day) Once my friend and I had taken our seats; our bartender came over. The bar like every picture of this bar, had no black faces but ours. However, the customers were happy and engaging.... on the OTHER side of the bar. Our bartender had course black hair with earned gray strands. His olive-green polo shirt complimented his skin beautifully as did his black mustache. However, when he approached us there was no good afternoon, not how are you guys today? Where you guys from? My friend was not only from New York but represented it very well by the way he dressed. So that would have been nice way to engage / welcome us as black customers, especially since there probably haven't been any in there since pride month, and they were probably token blacks. So, my friend tries to break the ice with a joke to remove our bartender's furrowed brow with a smile. Sadly, he had already committed himself to making sure that we would feel as unwelcome and unwanted there as he possibly could. He maintained a furrowed brow and fake grin for the entire 30 to 45 minutes we were there. I was embarrassed and smoldering with anger because we did nothing to deserve his obvious distain towards us. My friend asks me to calm down and begs me to please not embarrass him. I told him that "even a dog knows how to behave in a public place!" I didn't even drink my bourbon & coke because whatever hatred or negative racial phobic energy he has towards us or people like us...I didn't want to ingest it. As a gay man; I'll never understand how one minority can despise another. With gay rights and basic human rights on the chopping block with every passing day, we need to genuinely be the united brothers & sisters we march up and down the streets proclaiming. Gays are infamous for jumping up & down for equality for any and everything that threatens their freedom to be themselves. And yet when it comes to accepting two black men in their establishment (one gay and one straight) our bartender sent a very clear and unmistakable message that we were NOT wanted there. And that's sad because so many people come to this city looking for their gay promise land and the gay brotherhood that they always hoped for. They've survived years in the closet while in the military, in their churches, dodging mine fields in college and conquering the steepest mountain of all... the gay bashings and name calling in high school. I remember the very first time in a gay bar (as we all do) it was an awakening. A sense of, freedom that you could be who and all that you are without judgement, without prejudice and be able live boldly without distain. However, like so many "still haven't found what I'm looking for". But trust & believe if you're a black gay man, Twin Peaks Tavern definitely won't be putting out the gay welcome mat out for you. So, if it is the glass coffin, save your coins and let the dead bury the dead.

They have some of the best shows, and the ambience of the club is perfect for theater, music, comedy and of course, DRAG! . I just saw Back In Business, San Francisco native Matthew Martin's amazing cascade of classic characters, from a 70's Susan Hayward to a classic Judy Garland! It was a very well done show. Matthew Martin is amazingly talented and funny. Costumes were on point- well done and easy to recognize the characters he seamlessly transformed into. Loved his witty rapport with the audience as Bette Davis or whatever form he shape-shifted into. I'm not sure which was my favorite, but Kate Hepburn (from Lion In Winter) and Peggy Lee were at the top of my list!

The shows have always been amazing and I will go back to see some of them. However, I can't say I'll be back for anything else. I went for Dore Alley Fair. I waited in line an appropriate amount of time no issues there. Paid the entry went it in and ordered a drink. I asked the bartender if he could cash a larger bill that the ATM had given me and he said yes but it may be a lot of 5's, 10's and some 1's. No problem there. The music was good, crowd was good having a great time. After drink three I decided to go out and get some food from the truck that was just outside the club... literally, you opened the door to leave and you are standing in front of the truck. When I went to pay for my food it was then I realized something was not right. I paid and while I waited counted what was in my wallet and I was off by $40. This has happened to me before at Oasis but thought maybe this.. maybe that ... happened and gave the benefit of the doubt. etc... Now it is just before 7:30 pm and I go to enter the club and I am denied. They announce no more entry into the club for anyone ... the club is full. I showed them my stamp and said "but I have a stamp..." They said it didn't matter and closed the door on me, literally. First what is the point of paying and getting a stamp if you can't leave and return, I didn't even go but a few feet away and when I walked out there was still plenty of room in there. Secondly, How is it possible that a club that size is full at 7:30 pm on Sunday even when it id Dore Alley Fair? So while there shows I will go and see because I enjoy them I am not going to pay a door fee, spend $16 per cocktail ($14 + $2 tip) to be treated so rudely and to be ripped off by a bar tender.

We decided to use the portable restrooms outside instead. While we were waiting in line, the outdoor area was closed off. When we tried to return, we were told we couldn't re-enter unless we waited in a very long line and paid admission again. We explained that we only needed to go back inside to retrieve our checked clothes, but we were still told we would have to wait in line and pay a second time. That was completely unreasonable. After some discussion, the staff asked to see our coat check ticket and said one of us could go inside to collect our belongings. However, when I tried to enter, another staff member stopped me and again insisted that I had to wait in line and pay a second admission fee. Eventually, I was allowed to go in, retrieve our clothes, and leave. The lack of communication and coordination among the staff turned what should have been a fun experience into a frustrating one. Better communication and a more reasonable process for guests who simply need to retrieve their belongings would have made a big difference. I will avoid going to the Eagle SF in the future.
