This is the second time I went to order food at this place, though their foods are eatable, their overpriced you. I could get the same is not more food on my school campus for $2-$4, cheaper. Like i said the food is digestible and it's convenient to get it while I wait for the bus on my way to school. What I did not appreciate is how loud the tv was when I was trying to order. Other than the language barriers both of my server had, they lack of customer support or mannerism. What really made me write this review was because, as i was leaving the store after getting bad customer service, I stopped to see what all the noise on the TV was about and my server change the channel on me as a customer as I became interested in the infomercial. An unexpected surprise! Mary's was delicious! My cousin dragged me in specifically for the chicken empanadas. They had a full offering of salads, rice, beans, fish and a variety of meats available. There was a lot of people initially on the line. The ladies behind the counter took time to serve the food and also bring it to the table which was a bit untraditional in my experience of a buffet type style of place. The food was looking good. I decided to add potato salad and a few ribs to my chicken empanadas. The chicken empanadas really told the show. They were seasoned so good, savory with onions and green peppers that had been cooked down almost into a stew. The garlic sauce was a perfect touch and made them even better. I took away one star because one of the lady's behind the counter seemed to have a bit of an attitude with whomever she chose to. Different treatment for different people. I don't come here very often, but when I do it's a real treat. This is one of my go to places when I feel too lazy to cook. I always get the Freshly seasoned yellow rice with peas, complemented by "fall off the bone" stewed chicken, crisp green lettuce/tomato salad and a small side of beans. Right on the corner of Hook Creek Blvd and Merrick Road, you will find this Spanish food spot that you've been driving past for years. There were never any spanish food places in the neighborhood because, for a long time, there were not many spanish families. But, the times have changed that. And now PERNIL HERE I COME!! The dinners are standard: two sides and an entree. Roast pork, Baked chicken, chicarron, fish, ribs....all my favorite foods are making an appearance. The mofongo is good but the sauce needs to be a little thicker. Prices are reasonable (dinner can run about $5 to $7) and there is a place to sit down. Sandwiches are good and will not break your pockets. The service has been excellent whether I am sitting down or taking out. I am glad they are not crowded so I can always walk in, order and run out without a hassle. Highly recommended. read more

So I placed an ordered today for lunch, I ordered garlic shrimp with tostones, when I received my ordered I got white rice with beans and the garlic shrimp instead of what I Ordered. I immediately contacted the restaurant to let them know of their mistake. The lady that picked up the phone started to argue with me and told me that's what I ordered. I said no I ordered tostones with the garlic shrimp, I order this all the time. She continued to argue with me and instead of making it right she told me well next time you ordered I will send you your tostones with the shrimp. Never again will I be ordering from this place, I wasted my money on nothing, and was treated like crap over the phone. They don't even deserve 1 star read more

I LOVED this restaurant. The prices are affordable. The food is fresh, warm, and flavorful. The orange juice is natural, like, I literally saw one of the ladies squeezing oranges by HAND into a jar, wearing latex gloves. The ambience is laid back, makes you feel like you're at your mom's house, and the service is awesome. They're very friendly and considerate. Let me start by saying...this place is EXTREEEEEEEEEEMLY OVERPRICED! Coming from a Dominican (which fyi this place is Dominican NOT Mexican), I've been to MANY Dominican restaurants and never have I've paid so much for basic dishes. The typical lunch specials they have here usually go for about $6 max in MANY other locations. However, not many options close by to my place of work so I guess it's convinient. Now the food... Sometimes it's a hit miss. One time I had ordered beef stew and the meat was so tender, went back again and it tasted like rubber. The baked chicken is ok, the Yuca is always bland therefore I have to add salt. The rice options are good. The pernil is NOT up to my standards. The chicharrón (fried pork) is pretty descent. The fried fish has been good thus far. The mondongo soup is good however, wish they had more options for soups because it's usually the same 2. Now as for the service. Ehh, nothing special. The owner though, can't stand him and his arrogance. Wish he'd just stay home and let the rest of his family look after the place. All in all, if u want beef stew ask for a sample prior to ordering it to make sure it's a good tender day. read more

Amazing buffet style Dominican/Spanish restaurant. I had the arroz negra con pollo and it was uhhhhmazing. The staff was super friendly even though they were inundated with customers and phone call orders. Restaurant was clean and has lots of televisions on (in addition to mariachi music). For this to be the only Spanish food near by is unfortunate. I've gave the restaurant multiple chances but majority of the time it was a disappointment!!! The service is mediocre. The food it's obvious what they don't sell the first day they put out for the next & you definitely can taste the difference . The rice don't be fully cooked. The coleslaw will be turning a dark yellow meaning it's old but they will still have it on display to sell. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant but like I said meaning it's the only Spanish restaurant unfortunately people are going to stilll go but will most definitely be disappointed. read more

I eat from here often. I typically have the food delivered. They take credit cards over the phone but charge a fee. I have never had something I didn't like. One of my favorites is just roast pork and mayo on a hero. It is so good. The bread is great and the pork perfectly cooked and seasoned. I also like the chicken chicharonnes. I order a burger and fries a lot too. The homemade lemonade is great. The food doesn't take too long to come. read more

It is by far the best Spanish restaurant I have ever tried in my life. their food is always fresh and delicious. and their combo deals cannot be beat. I got off of work later than usual and I was starving. There weren't too many places open and I drove by and saw that it looked Lively inside. So I parked in the parking lot and went in. They had quite a bit to choose from even though it was still late. I ended up getting baked chicken, arroz con gandules , and macaroni salad. When I got home to taste my food I noticed the macaroni salad smelled a bit off so I didn't take any chances and threw it out. Food made with mayonnaise can't sit out all day and needs to be thoroughly refrigerated. I think they had an old batch just sitting out there. The chicken was a little dry and hard as well. Probably from sitting out under the heat lamps. Although I know it's probably the time I went, they still took my money and served me their food so I expect it to be just as good as if I went earlier. I'm not going to visit Mary's again. If you like the home cooking of a hispanic mother and enjoy having a little extra fat on your meat, this is the spot in Valley stream NY (Actually its Rosedale). They used to owned by "el Primo", but he sold this and probably his other one that was in Brooklyn to the new owners. "Mary" is her name and the food is still good. Food was tasty - I needed my Dominican food fix and it did the job. I had the chicken mofongo and we ordered fried pork pieces which came with yuca and boiled bananas. Very tasty!! I devoured the mofongo and my boyfriend loved the fried pork! Delivery took long, but I didn't mind. It was a Friday night, so it is to be expected in my neighborhood. read more
