Firet time and was very pleased especially with the spices. I am not a spicy kind a girl ( with food that is lol). But they had the right amount and a very healthy portion of food was given. I am currently watching my grandson in Jamaica Queens and see the place is in Long Island. Used Uber Eats and delivery was quick. Wow ... a down to earth comfort food! Will definitely order from them again. It's 30 min away, so next time I'll order four or six, ha ha ha - yummy and delicious, thank you. One thing I think to set people (in general) off might the small bones in the ox tails, etc. but I'm a bone lover so they're my type of guys or gals, ha ha ha ... wished they're closer. We washed it down with Bogle old vine Zin 2015--great pairing. Jamaican curry: stealing fm wiki--African cuisine developed on the island as a result of waves of slavery such as rice and peas, Callaloo from the Angolan dish "Calulu", and Jerk chicken from West African seasoning techniques. ... and there are more, of course ... check out. indentured labourers from India (in Asia)... and the British ... This is the first time ordering from this place on UberEats. I have to say, I really enjoyed my Jamaican breakfast. It reminds me of back home in Jamaica. This place is a hit or miss. With food and extra product. If you have something on the menu why is it never in stock? They advertise they have Irish moss but for some reason when it's a certain girl at the front it's never in stock but when it's another woman it is. Are they hiding it for some reason? It's ridiculous I have to keep calling to ask and I get mixed answers. Very sad. read more

Jerk chicken meal is still relatively inexpensive ($11.50). Yard is one of my go-to Jamaican takeout joints. Food is consistently good: 4 pieces of chicken, some steamed vegetables, two small pieces of plantains, and mounds of rice and peas, typical of all Jamaican joints. I go for a late takeout lunch. Soap opera is always on the television, the volume LOUD, which I just don't get. Service is friendly enough. Located on Hempstead Turnpike; parking in a lot in back. Let me say this ... I've been comming to this food establishment since I was 21 , I enjoyed eating here but after this non tasteless , curry goat that taste like there is no season and they just shoved it in a pressure cooker I fucking give up!!! Like seriously whoever the chef is PLEASE IM BEGGING YOU STOP COOK !!! Look at this rice they gave me also , it taste like Chinese rice when you leave it in the fridge over night.... like the bottom of the rice , like it's stale I WILL NEVER EVER EVER GO BACK HERE !!!! Employees are rude as hell. Ordered food on Grubhub and they cancelled it after they accepted the order and told me they had nothing I ordered meanwhile they had served people the same things I ordered. Lady told me that the app has everything unavailable and when I showed her it doesn't show unavailable she continued to argue. Will never order again due to employee incompetence. read more

The food here is just ok at best. They have good prices compared to other Jamaican restaurants in the area. The curry chicken is always pink inside, which is a no for me. Their roti is not fresh. Veggie patties are amazing, but they run out fast. Curry shrimp and chicken soup is always great. Salmon is always$15+ and only served in large size, which is not good if it is just for one person. Rasta pasta is super oily, and sometimes inedible. Most of the servers are friendly with the exception of two who just always seem mad. Maybe it's because I'm not Jamaican. I've been skipped multiple times when trying to order and even walked out once. I'd only go here if I don't want to drive to golden Krust on linden. read more

I stopped for the $7 lunch special of rice and peas and jerk pork. At least it looked good in the display case. I received a heap of rice and peas and the jerk pork was smothered in BBQ sauce. The sauce was reminiscent of the generic brand from the bottom shelf of the supper market. After four bites, I couldn't tolerate the flavor and threw it out. Don't waste your time or money at this place. You'll be very disappointed. read more

So a little about this place the service was great fast and awesome... now for the food the Jerk chicken I wouldn't recommend but the stew chicken and rice and peas with the potato salad was delicious (except for the fact that I had to add salt to the potato salad) the Jerk chicken didn't really have that island seasoning on it but other than that it was great read more

This is good jerk chicken. There are a few places around this area that have good jerk chicken, but this place is different. With other places, I find the employees to be aloof (see my review of Percy's Jerk Hut for more details). They run out of food and the wait time, even when you call ahead, is unreasonable. With Yard Flavors, they are fast and friendly. The employees (owners too) are pleasant and appreciative of the business. On top of that, the food is great. read more

It's a shame that my review isn't at least 4 stars, because the jerk chicken I ordered was SO DELICIOUS!!!!!! Unfortunately the chicken was cool, like it had been sitting out. If the jerk chicken was hot it'd be worth 5 stars. I'd still have taken off a star because I was charged $5.44 when the price on the board was $4. I'll keep searching for a local jerk chicken spot! read more

I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. This place is the worst Jamaican restaurant. The mature lady had an attitude. I was looking at the menu. Then I ordered oxtails she said oh the price had gone up the menu is wrong. I said ok no problem. The rice had no peas and while she was making my dish. I noticed she was giving me bones instead of meat. I mentioned it to her and she took all the meat out my dish and start to make it over again. What a attitude she had. It's not like I wasn't paying for it. No steam veggies she said with more attitude. I only have salad left. I said ok she was about to put it in my oxtail gravy. I said can u put it separate. I looks can kill boy. It's so sad I live close but will never come back . Take notes customers like to be treated nice. You definitely lost my business won't come back here. Was in the area yesterday for a work training and thought I'd give this place a try for lunch. Their lunch special prices are reasonable and includes a drink. I got the oxtail with rice and peas, vegetables and a piece of fried plantain to go. Since there is a $10 minimum to charge your card I ended up ordering the peppered shrimp as well. The oxtail meal wasn't anything special, the rice and peas was bland and the oxtail was mostly inedible fat and bones. The peppered shrimp which I ate later were super spicy, which I expected so it'll take me a couple days to finish them, lol. The 2 ladies behind the counter were friendly and patient when we were trying to decide what to order :) read more

Going to a show at the Elmont Library so decided to try a nearby restaurant. This was our first visit to Yard Flavors, but it won't be our last. I had sweet and sour chicken, and my son and husband had curried goat. Our meals included rice and beans, steamed vegetables, and plantains. The guys also shared a meat patty.
