If anyone is in the Kerrville area, this place is a MUST VISIT!!! This is a small ma and pa taco/burrito place that is run by a family that serves up the most delicious tacos and burritos! When we got here around 9 am, the place was busy and there was even a line outside the door but with how they run it, you get in and out very quickly! My husband and I got the chicharron, papas con chorizo, and barbacoa burritos and oh my goodness!!! IT HIT EVERY CRAVING I WAS HAVING FOR BURRITOS!!! The chicharron was spicy but soft and juicy, the papas con chorizo had the right amount of crisp to the papas and the barbacoa was juicy and not dried out! It reminded me of when I used to live in El Paso! If we're in the area again, we are definitely going to stop by again and get extra for the road! On a road trip from Houston to Phoenix, we stopped in Kerrville for a night. Before we left town, we checked out Mary's Tacos for breakfast. They have a small parking lot so you may have trouble finding a spot depending on the time of day (they're only open for breakfast and lunch). We parked a block or two down and walked over. Service (3/5): You stand in line, place your order at the counter, and they call your name when your food is ready so service is not a big part of the experience. This is a grab-and-go type of spot. Ambiance (3/5): Given that it's a grab-and-go type of spot, this isn't something they focus on. It's a casual, no-frills taco joint. You're not there for the ambiance. You're there for the food. Drinks (N/A): They have various soft drinks and stuff but I only ordered food. Food (4/5): Mary's Tacos has won many awards over the years for its breakfast tacos. First off, breakfast tacos are an incredible invention. One of my favorite breakfast foods. And Mary's has a nice selection. I ordered a barbacoa taco and the Bubba taco (carne guisada, cheese, and potatoes). Two tacos is more than enough to fill you up as they are large. What you will initially notice is the freshness of the tortillas. They're made in house and you can tell. The barbacoa taco was stuffed with barbacoa, along with some cilantro and onions. One of my favorite taco meats. The Bubba taco was interesting too. Carne guisada is essentially a Mexican stew with beef. The potatoes and cheese complimented the beef well. Friendly service ordering at the counter. However, the breakfast tacos are clearly not made from scratch. The tortillas are decent, but the refried beans were very runny, too much water being added when reheating bagged tasteless beans. The eggs taste are either powdered or made from liquid eggs in a carton. The potatoes seem to be the pre-cooked kind from a bag, and the bacon is crumbled pieces. Both Mary's Tacos, in Kerrville and in Boerne, are the signs of progress for both areas. I've been to both places and I tell you, the line of people to buy their tacos is something to behold. The best homemade breakfast tacos I've ever had. Be forewarned, it is always packed in there. There's probably 8-10 people working away non-stop rolling tortillas, cooking the meat, preparing the tacos, packing the orders, doing the checkout, etc. That place is busy but they have their system down perfect. You truly can't go wrong with any of these tacos. We've tried their wordy, Major Sean, barbacoa, eggs and chorizo and more. Each one of them is stuffed full of meat, eggs, cheese and/or beans. Man, they are tasty. The tortillas are soft and chewy. So addictive. I swear I can eat this every day and thank goodness I don't live here or I'd be 20 pounds heavier in a month. read more

Not even sure how I stumbled on this little spot in Kerrville, but I'm glad I did. It might be the one place where I order just one taco. The Muy Macho Sean is a taco that you might sprain your wrist trying to hold! It's a biggun! Packed with all the good breakfast fixings this beast will satisfy just about any hunger. Delicious! I tried the bean and cheese, machacada and Migas tacos and they were all excellent. More peppers in the machacada and Migas than I am used to but it worked! Very flavorful, made even better with the included salsa which was medium spicy to me. Bean and cheese could go toe to toe with any bean and cheese in San Antonio which is of course the breakfast taco homeland. My only minor issue was the corn tortillas were not substantial enough to remain intact. I would just stick to the flour tortillas which were perfect. read more

In town on a visit and we were led to believe that this place had good breakfast tacos. Well they were right. Amazing tacos. Hand made tortillas that were larger than normal. They were fluffy and cooked to perfection. The fillings were great. Chicharrón, sausage, bacon and no meat were our choices and they were all good choices. My taco was a special called "better than Sean's" and GET had a potato, bacon, eggs and bean taco. Tasty tasty tasty-the best! Really good flour torts.
