We were told "you pay for the atmosphere. The food is okay." But our food was fantastic. I had the sour cream chicken enchiladas and they were so flavorful. The chips and salsa were good and that green sauce was so unique. We got the queso flameado. The waiter set it on fire, let it fizzle out, and then served each of us individually a fresh tortilla with queso rolled up in it. I've never seen service like that. My kids loved it and their quesadillas. Afterwards, I thought I was too full for any dessert but my kids talked me into going to the ice cream room with them, and that's when I saw the Huckleberry ice cream! OMG - so good! We come to Hill Country once a year and our visit isn't complete without a meal at Mamacita's. While I wish there was a Mamacita's location in the DFW area, it would be too dangerous for me to :) Today, four of us met for lunch. As always, we were started with their thin crispy tortilla chips with their red and green salsas. And man - that green stuff is so dang good. For my meal, I ordered Soup and Salad. The soup was Tortilla soup and it was great. Good and hearty with a lot of shredded chicken in it. My salad was also great. It was served with grilled chicken and avocado slices on top. It came with a tasty dressing on the side. I also added a big spoon of the green salsa. Our server, Chris O was excellent. Super attentive to our needs and very pleasant. Always a must when we come into Kerrville. Food is always tasty. The green tomatillo crema salsa is outstanding. Their chips are light and crispy. Awesome atmosphere. Staff is always friendly and helpful. We always come in with a large group and they are always accommodating. We were able to call ahead and make a reservation this year for 16 and only waited a short few minutes upon arrival. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite and margatita before heading to the Arcadia. The place was packed as usual. Sat at the bar and Whitney was our wonderful bartender. She made my wife a Berry Merry Christmas margarita. It was like a skinny with cranberries on top with rosemary. She loved it. I had a top shelf which was also good. Chips and salsa great. Well, what can I say. We both wanted to eat at Mamacitas and we were both disappointed. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and they were covered with a thick goop of a sauce that was inedible. I had to scrape off all I could to get to the enchiladas beneath it. The rice and beans were just okay. My wife's open face taco with fajita beef was good although the meat was tough and didn't seem to be highest quality. I am a frequent customer at Mamacita's for the reason that I know I can get a hot meal and a special cocktail drink for a great price. Once again, Mamacita's outdid themselves taking care of our very large group! Managers Michael and Ozzy were wonderful in coordinating our group ahead of time to help accommodate 20+ families. The porch was relaxing on a beautiful day. The drinks were great, I loved my margarita and boyfriend said the sweet tea was perfect. We had beef enchiladas and carnitas and they both were great. My wife and I have eaten here many times before. Today was the first time they failed to deliver what we had come to expect. Our waitress was fine. She was friendly, engaging and prompt. The food was so disappointing though. We ordered chicken fajitas for two. They got to us quickly, but everything was cold and they didn't bring the tortillas with the food so it got colder as we waited on the tortillas. We ordered charro beans with it and the bowl I was served was all juice, no beans. It was the most disappointing meal we have ever been served there and we likely won't be back. read more

First time here! Tex-Mex! If you've read my reviews, you know I'm not a huge fan. Is it tasty? Sure. I'm just partial to authentic Mexican food, and my friends love this type of food and ambience so I end up at places like Mamacita's a lot. A review should still be fair so that being said, here's my take. We are a large group of hungry golfers that have just finished a long day of tournament and ready for a comfortable and casual spot to eat and drink and be merry. Parking: lots of parking available. I loved that there were actually handicapped parking available (hubby and service dog). That's a hard find in San Antonio. Lol! The Bar: the bar area contains some standard height round tables and a self serve chips and salsa station. The bar was able to appease everyone's craving... Shiner Bock on tap, Malibu and pineapple juice, margaritas with a bottle Corona face down in it, and more. The Menu: Lots of usual Tex-Mex options... enchiladas, ground beef burritos covered with chili con carne, tamales, fajitas, flour tortillas, and everything in between. The menu is quite large, nothing on the menu resonates with me, so I opt for my favorite go-to Chile Relleno plate. Not easy to get this dish wrong. Chile stuffed with cheese, charro beans and rice on the side. My hubby orders the Burritos plate. Two small burritos with ground beef and beans, covered with chili con carne, with a side of rice and beans but he opts for no beans. The prices for dinner range from around $12 and up. The Service: Our server is a young guy but he handles our large group just fine. He's soft spoken and our rowdy group is enjoying each other's company so most people couldn't even hear our server address the crowd. But it's ok. He had my big mouth to get everyone wrangled in to place an order. Our server fills our drinks very efficiently throughout the night. I was impressed! The food comes out in a very reasonable amount of time. The Food: The food is good. Again, if you love Tex-Mex, this place is a no-brainer. Large portions, casual dress and atmosphere. The house salsas are also very good. Not spicy enough, but fresh and addicting. The green one is unnecessarily colored an odd shade of mint green, which I'm convinced is just food coloring. Still tasty. You gotta try it! Now, I love horchata and insist on ordering it anywhere it is on a menu. I ask for a sample as it is a hit and miss in TX. I'm glad it did. IT SUCKS. I legit needs to not be sold to the public. I would've been miserable feeling stuck with a beverage this. What they are serving is NOT horchata, but some cheap, overly sweet concentrate syrup based beverage. If you've read my review of Potosino's (?) it is the very same stuff. I can't knock off a star for a sucky drink, guys. In all fairness, this place is good for what it is. Bottomline: If you love this type of fare, you will love Mamacita's. Period. read more

We ordered togo for our family of 5. 1st the order was correct. Exactly as ordered. 2nd it was packed well. They put it in a cardboard box which was very convenient. The estimate when I ordered on line was 30 minutes but it was a large order so I wasn't upset they needed another 15 to have it ready. No complaints, but a couple of menu items were different than I expected. The meat for the tacos was a little bland. Even just adding more salt would have been helpful. The queso seems to be made from a mix (powdered?) and had chunks of raw bell pepper and onion (diced about 3/4 inch). The cheese enchiladas, tamales, rice, beans, and flautas were all good. Nothing that blew us away but good. They gave a huge serving of chips and salsa. The tomato salsa was standard texmex restaurant, but the green sauce was interesting. It's sort of like onion dip you mix up with sour cream with cilantro added. Tastes good, but the color is surprising (green-blue). The restaurant itself was very nice. I liked the decor and theming in the dining room and the water feature/fountain outside was very pleasant. We would not hesitate to eat here again. read more

This restaurant was located in Fredericksburg, TX. I know they have several location. The food was very good. Charro beans were the best I've eaten. The flour tortillas are made in house right where you can see them being made. There are no words to describe the deliciousness of them. The staff were friendly, helpful, and we never had to wait on refills. It was a fun, enjoyable place to sit back and relax and enjoy your food. We laughed because we ate there twice and the first time the manager was going around asking everyone to safe room for a slice of pumpkin cheese cake. He was still doing it when we came in the second time. We were celebrating our 45th anniversary and they made it a remembered time. read more

Otherwise, I'm sticking with my many 5 star Mexican and TexMex restaurants in town that have amazingly fresh and superbly cooked food; most of them small mom and pop joints with minimal ambiance or decor.
