We are new customers, and decided to go with Darren Marzolf after making field trips to seven different slaughter/butcher companies. We chose Darren for a variety of reasons, but the main reason was Darren himself. He is the rare combination of an experienced professional and an eager learner of new things. He is also a darn good listener and nice human being! He offered many good suggestions and was full of ideas. Super busy people (and Darren is super busy) are often impatient and quick to show you the door. Not Darren. He shows in many ways that the customer is the most important thing. That, and doing professional work. Marzolf Meats did an excellent job on our four Mangalitsa Hogs. The whole crew was helpful, efficient and fun! They were flexible with all of our crazy special requests. We were two farms and four customers, and they handled each customer's personal requests perfectly. All three people who worked with Darren reported the same thing: "This guy is great, and super nice!" And, the price was fair and exactly as advertised. Marzolf Meats has some unique capabilities. They can do both USDA and WSDA processing. They have a state of the art de-hairing machine. Their hanging facilities and freezer are large, and well maintained. This is the most disrespectful person I've ever dealt with. I ordered a pig from this guy and when we drove all the way from my home in Auburn to pick it up, this dude neglected to say that the bacon wasn't done. Ok, no problem. He said it would be ready in two weeks. This guy then tells me after a month and a half that he's sending it out to me but nothing happens. I wait another month and it still hasn't showed up but I'm calling and he's stringing me along. Keep in mind I have a job so every time he says it's coming, I take off work. He had the audacity to tell me it was being delivered at the time when I was standing in front of my house. Never happened. I have video surveillance all around my house and that was a lie so he said he would make it right. He then proceeded to tell me that it was being shipped again the sometime this week , then maybe this week, then I'll see what I can do. Wtf kind of business does this to paying customers.?? After voicing my concerns and being thoroughly agitated with this guy, he tells me to " GOOD LUCK WRITING THE REVIEW " and don't call him again?? I will never do business with this piece of shit again and am filing a complaint with the BBB as well read more

Update its not been 4 months and still getting the same answer. I do not teccomend this place if you are hoping to get anything back in a reasonable time. I'm very disappointed. I've asked for a refund. Update. Its been almost 3 months and I have not received my bacon. I have reached out a few times and my husband has called with no response. This is detrimental to our buisness. I hope they can make it right and ill change my rating. Marzloff has been the best butcher to work with. As a first time butchering they walked me through everything. They even taught me about cuts and farming. They were responsive and quick with our meat. My wife and I got a half cow prepared by Bart's and beyond the person I spoke with numerous times being rude almost none of my directions were followed. Unfortunately, we were on vacation when the meat was finally finished and didn't actually see the results until 2 months later. I asked for boneless New York strip and got 3 packs of bone in, 2 packs of fillets and 3 sirloins. 2 packs of cube steak out of a half?? I did get just LOADS of stew meat and soup bones though. Definitely NOT using this business this fall. read more
