Such a lovely quaint spot with delicious food! My mom, sister, finance and I stopped in after visiting our wedding venue and we had the nicest experience with Terry, who provided us with recommendations for vendors for our wedding celebrations, and offered us celebratory scones. Just walked in for breakfast and was met with a blank stare and a "Can I help you?" from a stubby little man behind the counter. We sat down and my friend went to the bathroom. He ignored me the entire time and sat on his phone loudly watching a news report about the Epstein files until she came back. His attitude was so off putting we decided to leave. Tucked away in a very old building is a small cafe with a fireplace & a casual breakfast/lunch menu. Our waiter was very nice with an Irish accent & we started w/coffee & iced tea. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs & my husband got bacon & eggs with sourdough bread. We both enjoyed our meals & my husband really liked the hash browns that were chock full of onions & green peppers. Service was good & the place was nice & homey. We hired The Lake House Cafe to catered my father's repast luncheon. We asked them to put together a menu of his favorite foods even though many of the items weren't on their regular menu. Joann and Louise could not have done a better job with the food and made a difficult time easier for our family. Everyone who attended raved about how delicious everything was. Ordered two iced chai lattes and got a watered down coffee with no milk then was asked how much milk you want. Got the drinks after 15 minutes of waiting and it tasted like muddy gritty water. Very disappointed in this place and had similar experiences from the old place that was there and nothing has changed since this new place. Chai latte is not even coffee so that is on the owner to better train staff on how to make things before allowing them to be on their own. They were nice enough to refund us after we said it was fine and gave the drinks back to them. read more

We like to try support local businesses, and the newly opened Lake House Café was only a very short drive from our home, so this past Sunday (3/19/23) my wife and I decided to stop in here for breakfast. Nestled just a short walk from Andover's antique shops, the Café is situated in the downstairs of a historic building, with original hand-laid stonework, restored hardwood floors and original stone fireplace; it's a nice change from the typical commercial diner type of establishment. Upon entering, we were greeted by the owner and seated near the fireplace. While not overly large, there's plenty of well-spaced seating for at least 20 patrons and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The coffee was hot and fresh with a choice of cream or milk. Breakfast menu items include such varied items as French Toast, Avocado Croissant, Omelets, Eggs Benedict, and Egg Sandwich among others along with daily specials. There's also a lunch menu with various salads, burgers and sandwiches - the café is not open for dinner. My wife selected the special breakfast burrito stuffed with peppers, onions, eggs, and black beans while I tried the traditional egg sandwich with bacon on a hard roll. Both were perfectly prepared, hot and tasty; each was served with a small fruit bowl. The café is nice little jewel of an establishment and we plan on returning very soon. read more

Food at the Andover location was exceptional. My compliments to the chef. The atmosphere is depressing, dark, cluttered and feels dirty. The Sparta location has a much better ambiance but I don't recall anything special about the food so don't frequent the place. read more

Walk through the door and you'll feel a welcome reminiscent of "home". Music soft enough to promote conversation paired with a menu that is enticingly varied. Don't expect haute cuisine; instead be prepared for offerings reminiscent of breakfast at Grandma's and sandwiches that not only quench hunger but comfort the soul! At the risk of getting carried away with myself (too late?) please treat yourself to the grilled cheese sandwich. What could possibly be so great about a grilled cheese sandwich you say...trust me, this grilled cheese sandwich is as close to a religious reawakening as you're apt to get in this life. Also, don't leave before enjoying a latte and, well, why not go whole hog nd get one of the lemon bars, or perhaps a raspberry crumble or any of the other dessert offerings, each of which will leave you satisfied beyond your wildest imaginings.
