This has to be one of the best Steak n Shakes I have ever been to. It was clean, fast and the employees were so pleasant and efficient.

The company's has F'ed up the customer service. People working there are nice and helpful. I stood at a kiosk, put my order into their computer and checked myself out then it asked for a TIP. It literally teed me off. Like WTF. I wasn't sitting, I didn't receive anything but yet it asked for a TIP for the kiosk. I will go back to the drive thru but never inside. They have the kiosk for ordering. I was happy to see on the screen you can add more toppings if you want. My husband and I both ordered the combos meals, garlic butter burgers. We paid a little extra for the onion rings instead of fries. The burgers were hot and juicy. The onion rings were crispy goodness. The service was efficient and quick. We ate inside the restaurant. It was very clean. It was well worth the 45 minute drive here. We will be coming back. Next time we are getting one of their delicious shakes. They have the pumpkin Oreo, among others. read more

The food was always good. New management needs to earn customers back. Fast food with excellent milkshakes in a family-friendly ambiance.

Everything was COLD. The fries honestly might have been colder than the shake. I don't like to be negative so here are some positives: the food came out fast and the mint oreo shake was pretty good. That's really all I can say. The meat and fries were tasteless and cold, the place is not very clean, and the boss was having a loud argument with an employee and using profanity... not very classy. I say this not to be mean but in hopes that they can do better. read more

First time I have ever came to Steak 'n Shake and definitely will not be coming again. I am so very disappointed. I ordered my food at exactly 7:55 and did not receive my food until 8:28, missing half of my order still. I waited nicely for over 30 minutes this is unacceptable and when my food came out it came out freezing cold to the touch. I ordered a double and got a flat 1 burger that looked like it was ran over by my car. I finally got my shake 10 minutes after getting my food that was late and it's straight ice cream not even a shake I had to eat with a spoon it was hard like it was rushed. It's been a while since I've gone here and was pleasantly surprised. It was crowded on a Saturday night but service was decent. Kids eat free with a purchase of $9 which is nice but also the meals are pretty decently priced. They also get cute hats and a toy car and crayons to keep them entertained. I got the onion mushroom steak burger. It had a steak knife through it and was a pricy burger but was more than enough to eat and came with addictive fries. The truffle oil was sparse but tasty. The shakes were perfect in the small size. Not too much to be overwhelming but enough for a good taste. Also priced right. These are half off during the weekdays happy hours (2-4pm and am) Staff was friendly and so were patrons. Good overall experience. Just can't eat this type of food too often! read more

I do like their food, however the store is really dirty. The bathrooms had paper on the floor and it was clear no one had mopped them recently. I feel a really good scrubbing is needed with a degreaser. The floors are slippery because of the grease. The staff was friendly and we didn't have to wait long at all even though it was a busy Sunday evening. Food was good and hot. Just wonder how clean the kitchen is when the rest is so dirty. Please consider a different cleaning program. Highly recommend some hot soapy water with bleach. Be sure to use proper safety equipment and ventilation. read more

This used to be great. I don't even mind that they took away table surface and it in kiosks. But the food is way sub par and the employees are just rude. They messed up my order, then acted offended when I asked for it to be fixed. No apology, just remade it and undercooked it, then tossed it in my direction. I'm done with this place. read more

If 0 was possible, that's what it would receive. My mom, a senior citizen, ordered a "steakburger", no fries & a side salad. She was charged FULL PRICE for the burger, even though there were no fries with it (nor lettuce, tomato or bun). The manager did nothing for the bill. Everybody knows that Steak-n-Shake burgers are about as thick as a sheet of paper, so she was totally ripped off. I think without the fries, the salad should have been exchanged for her at the very least. The manager wouldn't do a thing for her. Let's just say that I've eaten at Steak-n-Shake for the last time. Took my six kids to this restaurant. Floor was very dirty with muddy water in aisles. Dangerous to walk through. Manager on site was dour when she brought some of our food. Server got at least one order wrong and it took 10 minutes to get it corrected. His tip was 10% instead of my usual 20%. It is obvious they were short-staffed. Ah Steak N Shake, a roadtrip's best friend. Stopped in here on the way home from a Memorial Day weekend in Macomb. We just wanted takeout, but service was still excellent. Terrel D took our order and split our check the way we wanted to. Food came out fast and was delicious. My friend asked for extra ketchup and we ended up with about 50 packets, because she didn't know there was some already in the bag. Must be the recession, but the prices are a lot better than they used to be. I got a triple burger + fries for under $4. And this location had Happy Hour, M-F from 2-4PM, which means half-price drinks and shakes. Friend had a malt and said it wasn't very good, but I can only judge the burger and fries, which were excellent as always. PS: don't attempt to eat a triple burger whilst driving. I came here while on a road trip to drop off my brother at Knox University. After a day of getting through paper work, finding classes, and talking with professors, we looked to where we could eat. Seeing that Steak and Shake was one of the places that was open that wasn't a fast food joint we decided to stop here. The place was really busy in the middle of the week and in the late night hour. I think this place never closes. But that isn't the point. The service here was great. Our waitress knew we were not a part of the neighborhood, so she told us about how to order, what to order, and said she could come to our table to help us with the area if we had any questions about it. I had the regular burger which was filling by itself, especially after seeing double and triple sized burgers. The burger itself, was average, but it being a restaurat located in Galesburg, IL ( I dare you to point where it is on a map, not counting if you have been or are from there of course) it was pretty good, The fries were so-so. But the apple caramel shake was pretty good for a place like this. So for exceptional service and a really great milkshake this place deserves a nice three stars read more

On a Sunday morning two weeks ago, stopped here with two others on the way to the airport. Wanted breakfast since it was 5:30 a.m.. Was seated by a customer, after the "miked"Mgr. said something unintelligible to us. The restaurant was understaffed, and the customers that were present seemed to have been "over-served" elsewhere. The aforementioned customer that seated us then played waitress and brought one of us a foam cup 1/2 filled with coffee. Since no other employee ever approached us, we left after about 5 minutes. Apparently the OPEN sign was not intended for the general public since this restaurant was not in any position to even attempt to offer food to anyone at that hour. Someone in Corporate needs to look into this situation; that is if anyone really cares. read more

This is my first time in Galesburg and therefore my first time at this steak and shake. I was impressed from the first moment I walked in the door. It was around 12:30 PM and the restaurant was full and I thought that was probably a good sign. I could hear the waitresses calling the customers by their first names and every waitress and worker seem to be happy and interacting with each other and the customers very well! I was seated quickly, waited on quickly, and I had my food within 10 to 15 minutes. My order was perfect and delicious! My waitress was Michelle W and was very attentive! Over the years I have been to numerous steak and shakes and I would think that this would be one of the top rated steak and shakes to be found! Great job staff!! read more

I have been in other Steak and Shake joints and by far this is the worst when it comes to service. The wait time is unbelievable and servers tend to pass you by once they take your order. They don't check on you once they get the food on your table. Don't get me wrong, I love Steak and Shake...but not this one. Better go to McDonald's beside this one or take your business elsewhere. On my last trip to the Midwest, I had to stop by here. I can remember back in the day, going to this restaurant in the middle of the night with my buddies for food. Anyway, my wife, who was raised in Colorado, had never been here, and I made her try it. I had a triple cheeseburger and cheese fries, and they were amazing. I recently went to steak and shake at 1066 north Henderson street in galesburg Illinois and ordered the jalapeno crunch burger. my bun had 2 fingers shoved all the way through the top bun and into the meat. There was so much sauce on it that the top bun was almost liquid and there were 4 jalapenos all stacked on top of each other. Overall it was a very poor experience. read more

My family of 7 ate here on Sunday evening September 10th 2017. We arrived around 615 in the evening. We got seated almost instantly. We ordered standard meals nothing special. 3 kids meals and 4 regular meals. Our drinks and shakes came out fairly quickly (within 5-10 minutes). Then we sat there waiting.... 40 minutes go by and I finally asked our waiter what in the world is taking so long. The waiter responded it is coming up right now. Well that was not the truth. About 10 minutes later burgers and fries start arriving at the table. I had got a bacon prime burger... well that is what I ordered but not what I was given. It was just a cheeseburger. I asked the waiter if he had forgot to write down the bacon part of my order. The waiter looked at the order and responded, no you are correct. The waiter scampered off... about 5-10 minutes later he comes back with 2 pieces of bacon on a plate. I laughed and asked if he was serious. My cheeseburger was now cold. I assumed he was fetching what i had actually ordered. He said sorry I will get you a fresh one right away. NO JOKE we sat there for about 20 minutes longer waiting for my cheeseburger before I said dude we have been here for over an hour and half and I still don't have my food.
