Haven't been here in years, I remember this place having a pretty ambiance. Walked in on a Tuesday at 1:30pm and ordered 3 chicken tacos to go. It was very affordable. My order was ready in minutes. The salsa verde had a nice kick and the chicken was flavorful. I have no complaints.

From the moment you enter, you are transported to festive Mexico - beautifully decorated restaurant, I really enjoyed the ambiance. We ordered a few margaritas for the dinner - I had Jalarita, spicy Margarita, made with lots of Jalapeños - quite tasty. We had guacamole and Botana Cantina for our appetizers - Botana Cantina had good variety of appetizers - fried chorizo was absolutely delicious, I would eat a bowlful. The entree was not so good though. I got beef fajitas, which looked very good. However, beef had no flavor whatsoever, and the dish was server not only with fried peppers and onions, but lots of crunchy zucchini, which absolutely doesn't belong in that dish in my opinion. Good service, prompt and attentive.

I have to say I really enjoyed my time and my experience at Cantina. Service was good with great food. I ordered the steak and shrimp fajita, and the steak was seasoned just right along with the shrimp. My compadre ordered the enchiladas to boot. And you know what I extenuated the salsa as most Mexican restaurants salsa can be bland but it was pleasant enough for me to ask for more.. the seating is a little tight for my taste but we managed and the people seemed to enjoy eating there and once again so did I. The margaritas are great and that's a must to wind down on chill evening! So don't take my works for it head on over and tell them I sent ya!!

This place is probably great to stop by if you're in the mood to grab a drink. They have some great drink deals but the food itself kinda lacked. While I enjoyed my steak and it was cooked at the perfect temp, the beans lacked seasoning. The service was pretty quick though. Especially considering it was pretty crowded on a Saturday night.

Mojarra frita + chuleta en salsa verde

This is really solid option for Mexican food and drinks with solid prices in the Stamford area. The mojarra frita was fried perfectly and salted well. The fries and salad were fine. My guest had the chuleta with salsa verde and while the flavor was good, the pork chop was unfortunately very dry to the point were jokingly calling it jerky. The drinks are great too! Very friendly service to top it all off

Mixed opinion. I would definitely return and give other dishes a try. I had a burrito with steak and I was not pleased with the steak, it tasted like low grade cheap cut beef. My husband ordered steak tacos and his beef was of better quality. The plantain was delicious. That burrito sat on my stomach like a brick, and for that I took one star off. I recommend using better quality beef even if I had to pay extra dollar.

The food was authentic to Mexican culture. The service was fast and waiters and punctual. The ambiance is the way is supposed to be the music the gentleman's singing with there instruments.

It was pretty good, but it was very crowded because of a family birthday party. The menu is reasonably priced except for the order of guacamole; a small container of just about three tablespoons costs us $4.50. Love the dessert combination.

I have gone to Catina multiple times as it is one of my favorite restaurants. Every-time I go I am seated almost immediately. The longest wait time was between 5-8 minutes on a busy night. The food is always delicious and served quickly! Even went for my husbands birthday and the staff sang happy birthday and put a sombrero on him! This place is truly a fun experience, they play great music and sometimes even have mariachi bands come and play. If you are wanting great Mexican food, you must come to Cantina!

I can't recommend Cantina Mexicana more! I love everything I've ever gotten from there, including the tortilla soup, chicken flautas, nachos, tacos, burritos, and (my favorite) the fajitas. I prefer the mexican rice/refried bean combo, and the menu isn't always clear on if the meal comes with white rice/black beans, so just ask for what you want. Nice strong margaritas as well, and you can add a mini shot as a floater which is always fun! Their house salsa is clearly homemade and really fresh and delicious. They have a live Mariachi night which can be a pro or a con, depending on if you like live entertainment or prefer dinners to be a bit more quiet and private. Check the night of the week to make sure they're there (or not) before you go. Only issue is the prices are a bit steep for what you get, but that applies to almost everywhere in downtown Stamford. For a sit down Mexican place this is the best you'll find in the area.

The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, everyone was friendly, and we even ended up making new friends. A special shout-out to Maggie, our bartender. She was warm, fun, attentive, and made the whole evening even better. And creates the BEST cocktails. The food was outstanding. The burger was cooked perfectly, the French fries were absolutely delicious, and the bao bun was fantastic. Honestly, everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Great food, great service, great people, and a fun vibe. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

From the moment we walked in, the hospitality from the staff, and chef made us feel right at home. We started drinks with a Strawberry Cosmo and a Paloma Spritz. Both refreshing and dangerously strong in the best way possible. For apps we came for the Crispy Duck on Sushi Rice, and as someone who usually scared to eat duck, this completely changed my mind. The duck was unbelievably crispy, similar to crispy prosciutto, and paired perfectly with their special sauce. We also had to do the Crab Cake was another standout, especially with the house-made Green Goddess dressing. The chef even came out to explain how he prepares the sauce, which made the experience feel much more special. For the entrees, we ordered the Linguine Fra Diavolo, loaded with perfectly cooked shrimp and the perfect amount of spice, alongside the Steak & Chips finished with a truffle vinaigrette. Somehow, every single dish just kept getting better. And because we clearly hadn't eaten enough, we had to try the Bacon Mac & Cheese Balls with smoked tomato sauce. I honestly could've eaten an entire plate of those. To end our meal, the chef surprised us with his Duck Egg Brownie, and it was one of the softest, fudgiest brownies I've ever had. A 2 hour train ride sounds crazy... but Flinders Lane made it absolutely worth the trip. I can't wait to come back to try the kangaroo!

After doing a little research, I came across The Wheel, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. I made a reservation for Sunday brunch. Finding the entrance was a little confusing at first, and parking took a minute to figure out, but I eventually learned you can park for free at the Village next door, which made things much easier. Once I arrived, I was immediately greeted and shown to the outdoor seating area. Walking through the restaurant, I was impressed by how beautiful the property is. It is incredibly spacious, sits right on the water, and even has an additional outdoor area next door where you can relax away from the restaurant. The views alone make this place worth visiting. Our server, Freddy, was fantastic. He was friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the menu, answer questions, and offer recommendations, which made the experience even better. Now onto the food. To start, we shared the Breakfast Pizza, topped with smoked bacon, crispy potatoes, roasted garlic, mozzarella, two eggs, and fresh cracked black pepper. It was a fun twist on brunch and had great flavor. We also ordered the Shrimp and Grits, made with cheddar grits, wild caught shrimp, a poached egg, and chimichurri. Rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich looked outstanding. Made with organic Murray's chicken, hot honey, coleslaw, and dill pickles, it came with fries and disappeared quickly. For my entrée, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, featuring grilled hanger steak, two eggs, breakfast potatoes, and chimichurri. The steak had excellent flavor, although I ordered it medium and it came out closer to well done. It was my only real issue with the meal. We also tried a couple of cocktails. The Orange Crush was refreshing and perfect for brunch, while the bourbon, Aperol, peach, Earl Grey, and lemon cocktail was smooth, balanced, and equally enjoyable. Dessert was the perfect ending. The Take 5 Sundae with peanut butter crunch, pretzels, whipped cream, vanilla bean caramel, chocolate ice cream, and hot fudge was absolutely delicious. We also had the Tres Leches, topped with strawberries and vanilla whipped cream, which was light, moist, and a great way to finish the meal. Overall, everything we ordered was delicious. Aside from the slightly confusing entrance, parking, and my overcooked steak, the entire experience was outstanding. The waterfront setting, excellent service, beautiful atmosphere, and quality food make this one of the best brunch spots in Stamford. I will definitely be back. Next time I already have my eye on the Banana Buttermilk Bread, Village Breakfast, Braised Short Rib Hash, Wheel House Burger, Margherita Pizza, Smoked Salmon Pizza, and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich for myself. For drinks, I want to try the Charred Citrus, One in a Melon, and the Orange Crush. And I definitely need to save room for the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake.

Favorite dish selections per voting of the table, were the brussel sprouts (~$20), calamari (~$20), and NY strip (~$50) specifically because of the tallow fried rice that laid underneath the steak! Although we enjoyed the quality and quantity of food, the service was quite slow. Our waitstaff didn't come by very often to take drink orders, refill water glasses, or follow up. It didn't seem too busy that evening, so we were a bit surprised. We stayed in the dining room on this trip, but hope to come back for a nice evening when the outside patio area is available.
