I came here with my friend for lunch. We got seated and sat there for 20 mins. My friend and I were talking about leaving until I got up and went to someone to tell them we had been waiting for 20 mins and no one came to our table. Turns out a girl I thought was part of another table to my right with some guys was actually our waitress! Plus it was hard to really know who the staff were. Really horrible service to begin with. Regardless of the service, the food was super delicious. My friend and I both shared dry rubbed chicken wings tossed in sweet buffalo sauce - amazing. We also got craft burgers and fries which were cooked to perfection. I ate everything and ate so fast I forgot to take photos of the food. Walked in for dinner while staying in Stamford for the weekend and was seated within 10 minutes. My husband and I had cocktails and shared the French dip sandwich as well as the crab mac and cheese. Food and drinks were delicious and beautifully presented! Our server even double checked if I wanted Bailey's in the espresso martini. We decided to check this place out for Brunch while in Stamford based on favorable Yelp reviews. We were able to be seated in a booth as no tables were available, only high tops. We were provided with menus and greeted by our server. We decided on 2 of the brunch options: the fried chicken biscuit with sausage gravy, egg, bacon, and breakfast potatoes, and also the short rib and sweet potato hash with poached eggs, onion, peppers and cheddar. The egg for the fried chicken dish was requested to be cooked once over easy, light. Our server was perplexed and said she did not know what that meant so it was explained to her. Apparently no one in the kitchen knew what it meant either as the egg came served browed with a hardened yolk. The gravy on the chicken tasted straight from a can and really did nothing for the dish. There was so little short rib meat in the second dish and the sweet potatoes were too big and undercooked; they were mushy.The poached eggs were overcooked and there was no detection of any cheddar. Both dishes were quite disappointing and far from remarkable. Our server was friendly and smiling, but it is clear she needs additional training. She never checked back in with us and had to be flagged down several times for the check. The booth seat was uncomfortable as every movement was felt by the diner sitting in the connected booth behind. The decor was mismashed and odd. On street parking and restroom was clean. First off, this place is in a very hip area that seems to be buzzing with energy. We sat outside on the patio and the weather was pleasantly warm. I ordered the honey and goat cheese pizza while my partner ordered a burger and fries. The food came out quickly and our server was attentive. The pizza was to die for and the crust was amazing. Really keeping the "pizza capital" on the map. The burger was tasty, but basically a burger and fries. It seemed to hit the spot though. The ambiance is fun and stately. The staff was so welcoming and fun. They joked around and made us laugh and smile. The menu is tremendous. I wanted to order 5-6 different things, but just can't eat that much so started with the street corn dip YUM!. Being I was going to dinner that same evening, I chose a salad for my meal which did not disappoint in both satisfying my pallet as well as my tummy. I also had a cocktail, a specialty margarita which was refreshing and not overly sweet. We sat outside where there were many dogs (I didn't have my Brody Boy as I was visiting a friend who lives in Stamford) but they had water bowls out of the pups too. As usual, I was on the hunt for something delicious, and it felt like a burger night. I searched for the top burgers in Stamford and found this place. I placed my order over the phone with Nicholas, who told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. I gave it 25 minutes just to be safe. I came here late at night for a delicious burger, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the craft burger based on reviews and Nicholas' recommendation. It was big, juicy, perfectly cooked to medium, and had a wonderful char taste--almost too charred, which I never thought I'd say! I added a fried egg and bacon on top of the already stacked ingredients, and while all the flavors were delicious, with the egg and bacon added, it might have been too many ingredients for one burger. The inside was very spacious with a real tavern feel to it, which added to the atmosphere. No issues with the food whatsoever, but when I arrived, no one greeted me, and I had to wait about 10 extra minutes for the burger to be ready, even though it was dead inside, as you can see from the picture. That's the only thing keeping this from being a 5-star review. I'll definitely be back though! read more

Nestled next door to the coffee shop Lorca, this New American pub serves up some great appetizers (do try the corn and crab hush puppies), pizza, salads, and entrees. I met a friend here, and while Bedford Hall is a bit on the louder side, we were still able to maintain a conversation. The look is modern industrial. The staff is friendly. I ordered the prosciutto and fig pie (pictured) and it was served with fontina cheese, prosciutto di parma, figs, fig jam, balsamic, arugula, and sprinkles of Parmesan. It was good, and enough in size to take half a pie home, but it could have been even better had it stayed in the oven just a little bit longer. I like a little bit of black on my crust and this pie just wasn't done enough for my taste. (But it was perfect when I reheated in the toaster the next day and I got the crust to form the desired black bubbles.) Overall, not a bad place for a casual meal. read more

For food we ordered Caesar salad - 0/10 came out with wilted lettuce and u didn't like the extra stuff on it. Dressing was not a ceasar dressing seemed like it might be a bottled dressing. Seafood pasta - 0/10 lacked any flavor, was very bland. Bang bang shrimp - 8/10 this was delicious just would have been good if served with lemon slices to cut some of that grease. Also it was good with the sauce, by itself could use more seasoning. Wings- 4/10 they just had a sweet dusted seasoning on top but no real flavor outside of the cinnamon sugar dust ( that's what it tasted like) I ordered a side of broccolini sautéed came out just blanched with no taste 0/10 I would go back cause that hibiscus margarita was really good. A New-American upscale tavern pub feel with lots of open space. The vibes here are chill and comforting. The service was quick and personable! Emma helped us the whole time. From the minute we sat down, we knew we were in good hands. My friend and I started with the corn dip. I didn't know what to expect, but it sounded delicious and I'm glad we got it! Warm and creamy with some crunchy chips. We also got the pretzel. I'm not one to get pretzels even though they are becoming very popular. My friend loves them though so we decided to try it. I was blown away. It was so fresh. The soft dough with the amazing mustard and cheese dips made for a great start to our meal. As everyone has been saying, the crispy chicken sandwich is superior. Good food, pretty terrible service. For a Sunday brunch time im pretty sure there were only about 2 servers in the whole restaurant. I spent more time with my neck turned around trying to track down our waiter, than focusing on the people I was with. I get it, staffing is rough, but at least acknowledge your busy and don't just avoid our table. The food is however really good if you can manage to curb your hunger long enough to wait. We started with a few apps for brunch. It took about an hour for us to get the apps only for our main courses to be literally about 2 minutes behind them. So we rushed through apps in an effort to not have cold meals. We get through the apps and they end up forgetting one of our meals all together. He said he was running back to the quick to grab it as if he ran out of hands. It was 10 minutes before the last meal appeared. Onto the food...we started with the cheesesteak spring rolls and the pulled pork nachos. The spring rolls were tasty but a little on the greasy side. The pulled pork nachos were really good. Tasty pork piled high on nachos with a yummy cheese sauce. A good option to share! Onto the main course I got the fried chicken sandwich. I have to say one of the better chicken sandwiches I have had. It's a tasty combo of chicken, Brie and a truffle aioli. The flavors come together for a really nice bite. Served up with hand cut fries. The food was good that I would consider making another trip in for brunch, but be prepared for it to be an all day adventure. We were there for 2.5 hours! read more

Huge disappointment. First, the menu available online is different from the actual menu at the restaurant. For example, I wanted to order shrimp and grits which is shown in the online menu but the actual menu didn't have it. Okay, let's say this happens. Next up - drinks. We all ordered cocktails. My spicy cocktail was not spicy at all. My wife ordered peach blossom cocktail, and it tasted horrible, made out of the supermarket-grade ready mix. The food was even worse. Chicken wings were very tasty. Fried calamari were okay. However, most of the main courses were inedible. In my fish and chips dish, fish had dark brown color, and the fish itself was fried into a mush, also served on top of soggy French fries. Two of the people couldn't finish their burgers, and not because they were already full but because of the taste. My daughter's steak frites was probably the worst steak I ever tasted, I can't even describe it. Service was okay, but the food was absolutely inexcusable. Not recommended. read more

WOW! What a wonderful experience we had here last night. We walked in on a cold, rainy Tuesday night, and this place was hopping! We were seated over in a booth by the fireplace and the cozy atmosphere warmed me up right away. Joe was our server. He was friendly and attentive and his service was excellent. When we asked for something, he was back within two minutes. For dinner, my husband ordered the short rib fried rice and he enjoyed every bit of it. I ordered the avocado and grapefruit salad, with shrimp on top, which was nothing short of amazing. For dessert, we ordered the cookie dough smash, (which was free when you check in with yelp!) We had an unexpectedly good experience here despite many less than thrilling Yelp reviews about the food and service. Needing a spot between NYC and Fairfield, we met here. Everyone found the menu to be vast and interesting, our party of 9 was very happy with their choices. The service was perfect, and it's not easy catering to a large group, we lingered for a good hour after our meal without a bat of the eye from anyone. It was a slower time, from 1-3:30 pm. Entrees hover around 20 dollars a person. Three of us had the Eastside Poke Bowl, delicious and ample. Salmon burger was a hit, as was the Craft Burger. Lee had the Huevos Rancheros and my son the Crab Benedict, both were very good. Plenty of interesting seating options from curbside facing other outdoor restaurants, to high tops, couch and chair, booths, tables. Out back there were a bunch of tables with umbrella's that can also accommodate any size group, but it was 90 degrees and the back was blacktop..not my thing ! Parking was interesting..find your spot, pay at the meter, easiest with an app. It's next to a municipal indoor lot, perhaps at a very busy time that is an option as well but we found a spot without a hassle. All in all, a very decent find. I would not avoid the place due to reviews, but I might avoid a very busy time like Saturday 7pm so that your experience is a positive one. read more

It took the server 15 minutes or so just to come by our table which was a bad start. But once we had him, we had him. Good service, food was really tasty and nicely served. The ambiance is nice, it's very cozy, has two fireplaces, lounge area up front, nice big bar, nice lighting. A concise review of our evening experience at Bedford Hall in Stamford, CT. Service: Service was the only mildly disappointing part. Our server was really nice, just not as attentive as needed. We didn't end up ordering a second round of drinks because he was nowhere to be seen. We were at the tables near the window, far from the other tables-- and they had three different waiters working this small section. So us and other tables were often forgotten about. The food runners brought out the food so our waiters were nowhere to be seen. Wait: No wait! Plenty of room @ 6:45 on a Saturday. Bar: Energetic, warm. Drinks: Pumpkin beer on tap. Say less. Appetizers: *The butter of the corn & crab hush puppies should be illegal. The hushpuppies themselves were mildly dry without it, but I'm glad they were because the butter MAKES this dish. It was the star of the night. Pizza: *Brussel sprouts pizza-- we got the gluten free crust. This is totally more of an entree than an appetizer, as the cheese was very heavy. I would have liked if they were lighter on the cheese so the other flavors would stand out (sweetness of the balsamic, bitterness of the brussels, and saltiness of the bacon). Entrees: *Poke bowl-- this was PHENOMENAL. I was hesitant to try it, but I asked the waiter what he recommended from the salads + bowls section and he said this. This was AWESOME. The mixed flavors were just a perfect Asian fusion to the new American meal. *Short rib fried rice-- YES, it was as good as it sounds. To think I almost canceled my reservation for 6 at 3:30pm on a Saturday, from reading the reviews of nonexistent waitstaff. But not my waiter Ronnie!!!! Ronnie accommodated my large party and allowing me to pick my own table and he cleaned it off and set it up. And from there he kept the drinks flowing and the food coming... Drinks: Saratoga Mineral water and 2 honeysuckle mules and the spicy Paloma. appetizers: blue crab Mac and cheese, the hot cauliflower, cheesesteak spring rolls, street corn dip with chips. Next up entrees: turkey burger, shrimp and grits, fish tacos and the four fathers pizza. It was all good, and Ronnie made it a great experience!!!! The only set back was the table on the opposite side of us were so Freakin loud; (unnecessarily ) they should have been told to tone it down. Our pizza arrived in a mangled and freezing cold state, and the cheese was unappetizing. The food was utterly inedible. Unfortunately, this wasn't the first time we've had a disappointing experience with this restaurant. I like Bedford Hall. The food is exactly what you expect it to be, and the portions and quality are pretty great. It isn't the best food I've ever had, but for American comfort food it gets the job done. I love their buffalo cauliflower, and the fish tacos are surprisingly good. Now to the reasons it isn't 5 stars. Drinks aren't my favorite and are not very strong. More importantly, the service is really not great. I've been 4 or 5 times, and while the servers are always very kind they don't check up on you and don't seem to communicate with their coworkers. On our last visit the waitress serving us clearly was finishing her shift but forgot to tell anyone we were still there, so we sat there waiting for the check for over 45 minutes after we finished eating. That knocks off a star. Otherwise though it's pretty good food, and the prices aren't ridiculous for downtown Stamford. Good place to visit if you're entertaining family. read more

I was visiting Connecticut this week and I was so happy to stumble upon this place! The atmosphere was super nice and everything was very clean. I loved the menu and wanted to order everything! I got the hibiscus margarita, as well as appetizers to share with the table. The pulled pork nachos were outstanding and the arugula and fig pizza was super tasty! I had the pork shoulder skillet as an entree and it was awesome! It was almost a fun play on fajitas as it came with tortillas and toppings so it was great.
