I'm all about spices and this was spicy, a great, good kind of spicy. I came in right after the lunch crowd, so I was able to take my time and look over the menu. Plus the cashier was a sweetie telling me about the dollar of drinks today. I started to adventure out but I decided to go with the chicken masala because I thought if this is made the way I love it, then the whole menu is great. Therefore I can come back over and over again to try out more things I love. Well, the chicken masala sauce was just right, not too creamy, and it had that bit of thickness I like. The masala pizza I also got the masala fries, my lady got some noodles and I got a mango lassi. My family for the longest of time has been ordering food from this specific location and always provided good service for the right price. Today we ordered 197 dollars worth of food (tip included) and feel that we have been cheated for the amount we paid and for the time we ordered! I ordered 2 medium platters for the fried rice platters that is supposed to have 10 servings. Instead we received a small platter for 5 servings same as the wraps shown in the photo. My family showed the order to the girl at the front desk and we asked her to speak to the manger but she said the manager is not there and she was in charge. When we showed our order the girl said the platters she gave us had 10 servings but in a different container. After that we simply took our order and left even though we could smell the BS from a mile away! I encourage everyone to stay away from this location and if possible go to a different location! Masala Wok may not be the most authentic Indian restaurant but I love the Butter Masala with chicken from here! I have not gotten a chance to try other dishes because I can't go without having the Butter Masala. It is perfectly creamy and has the right amount of spices. For the Indian side of the menu you choose your protein and the sauce you want to go with it. You can also choose how spicy you want your dish to be. Basmati rice and naan is included with your entree! The naan is delicious and great for picking up the Butter Masala sauce! There is the other half of the menu that offers Chinese cuisine but I have not tried it. My boyfriend, on the other hand, tried the Kung Pao Chicken and said it was not anything special. Service can be a hit or miss, depending on how busy they are. The lunch rush is really busy and parking can be hard to find since they do share their parking with other restaurants. firstly, plan on taking a while to order, there are tons of options, but when you're ready don't be surprised if no one helps you for a while; but food has plenty of flavour but could use improvements in quality for the price in some cases. I will for sure return since I have a lot of things to try that one does not get to try this side of town! I spent a good bit trying to make up my mind since it all sounded so good. I love all their pictures on their walls, which should have labels so I can decide instantly! but I couldn't help but go for the chicken 65 with a description like "spiced-up red-hot yogurt sauce, curry leaves, & green chilies and basmati rice." the dish was stunningly red, yellow and orange and equally tasty without too much spice at all actually. tons of flavour and for sure a twist from the mundane everyday. that was a fun plate, but pretty big portions for me, I only could finish the chicken. my wife had an equally fumbled decision, going for a variety in the rice and noodle bowl with shrimp, which was big enough for 2 easily. the omelet on top was almost over the top too much, but the bowl was very tasty and holds the distinct honour of a rare take-home bag for my wife, so you know it must be good. the naan was extremely upsetting and shameful. I wanted to throw it back. but it did sort of make a bad tortilla for my plate. I mean it is just plain, bare, lifeless, like out of a box dead. more like a wafer I would say. clearly in no way homemade or really even fresh. for 50 cents I wouldn't have felt bad, but those slices for 2$ is just crazy. at least put some sort of seasoning or butter or salt or something on it please? I realise it's best in conjunction with our meals, but they more like brought the other food down a notch. the samosa chaat was a tiny bowl of what looked like soup: yogurt, garbanzo beans, cilantro, chaat masala, chopped red onions, & tomatoes. not what I was expecting but pretty flavourful indeed! maybe they will have become accustomed to customer service by then, because it's a little shaky with the greeting and order taking, just be patient! that pattern happened with everyone next in line (it was real slow when we got there) until it got busy and they were forced to mind the registers. I think what's weird about it is you see them like 10 feet away talking but they won't come up or even look sometimes. Just less than one minute after I paid, I asked them to change my order of chicken tikka to chicken 65 and I bet it was just within that time. The lady at Cashier was lingering around by the soda fountain after taking our order when we asked her to change the order, then she came back and informed us that the 65 comes with rice and did we still want to change? We approved it although we didn't ask her what it comes with and even the tikka came with the same rice. Then next minute she came and told us that her manager didn't approve the change as it was ready!!! I Dont believe how a chicken tikka can get ready in less than 5 minutes, plus it didnt even reach our table so i don't understand why they wouldn't change? When i went to talk to the manager( tall , big hispanic guy) he called himself Javier but I doubt that was his name, was awfully rude and said he cant change my order even though he didnt bring to my table and even if it was changed within 5 mintues! He asked me what he should do with the food? Throw it? He was nasty rude and I have never been to a restaurant where they are so inhospitable to their customers. Then I understood why we were the only family in the restaurant dinning inside and why their traffic was so low! All accounts for the bad customer service and toxically inhospitable and unwelcome atmosphere!!! He was laughing and giggling with the casher lady in the back the whole time we were there and dont seem to be suiting his role and taking responsibility towards his job. I understand having fun at work is good but show some of your good and hospitable side to the customers who walk in and dine in too!
