When I walked in the door I actually almost left. You order food at the counter and then find a table. The menu is on the wall and hard to read so I asked the woman behind the counter if they had a paper menu, She rolled her eyes and pushed one across the counter like I was inconveniening her. I placed my order, and she told me to go find a table and the food would be out soon. As soon as I sat down, she came out and brought me my coffee. I asked for cream and sugar, and she said it was on the counter inside. It was a giant cup of coffee (which is awesome) but it was filled to the top. So I burned my hand when I spilled it, trying to get in sugar. By this time I was very frustrated. I went back to my table and my food came up almost immediately. The server was smiling and friendly. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. Iordered almond les leches french toast, cheese grits and bacon. The greats are okay, but nothing specia but the french toast was out of this world. It was thick, cut, smoked bacon that tasted fantastic. The server and the food saved this visit for me. Popular place on the corner of a busy intersection, but definitely a solid option! We went during Sunday brunch and the line was out the door, but it moved steadily and I think we were able to order our food within 10-15ish mins. Food was solid and I think fairly priced! I had the salmon benny, and usually lots of places give a small portion for Benedict dishes, but here it was fairly generous with a good portion of salmon. We also tried the almond tres leches French toast which were tasty and not overpowering on the sweetness! It is a small-ish spot and when busy you could be waiting around to grab a table, but honestly the wait wasn't too bad. Would recommend again! read more

This place is cute! Their menu is biggggg and its pretty casual. Theres not a ton of seating indoors, but they do also have tables outside to sit at. It seems that a lot of people will do take out here so we did not have trouble finding a table. The food, however, took quite some time. I want to say we waited 25-30 minutes for our food on a sunday around 11:30-12:00. I like the concept of this place because you order st the counter and then theyll bring the food to you. You get your own water and refill it yourself as well. The food was decent. Nothing really blew my mind, it was all just decent. I got the shrimp, cheddar, chorizo benny. I forgot it was chorizo until just now, it seemed like bacon bits instead of chorizo. The shrimp has very good flavor and the eggs were cooked pretty decent. I would come back if we were in the area, but theres nothing I crave after this visit. Service was good, we just had to wait a bit for our food. read more

There are ups and downs to this one, I really liked the ambience and the overall design of the place. In terms of service, it could be a bit better. It felt a bit tight and the cashier was a bit rushed. The server was ok. In terms of food, I got the breakfast burrito and it was honestly a bit dry. It could use a sauce inside to add some moisture. Overall pretty decent but still could use some development. Edit: in terms of their coffee, it's pretty good! Unfortunately our stop to one of our favorites today was not good. I was so looking forward to my usual Veggie Bennie. The poached eggs were hard boiled, the hollandaise was thick and was spicy. To be fair, they did replace it with an omelette that was pretty good -- it just wasn't the benedict that I had come for. Husband's french toast breakfast was just okay -- he said the french toast was not very good. May be awhile before we return. read more

There were 4 of us and we squeezed into a table, but it worked! Plenty of outdoor seating but it was too brisk for us to dine. Really good place for breakfast, we got there right before the rush which ended up being shortly after they open! I had the biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were delicious. They gave you two whole biscuits instead of one split in half along with 2 eggs. My wife had the eggs Benedict and that was impressively good as well. I really enjoy the chicken fried steak here it's a solid dish for sure. I have a bit of an issue with there lattes though. First off they charge you to add sweeteners to it and they are not the typical latte in my opinion, there espresso is crazy strong and even if you add a couple shots of sweeteners to the drink all I can taste is that wicked strong brew. Perhaps this is authentic French style coffee but can't say I'm a fan. In my opinion a latte should be creamy and you should be able to taste the milk.. this tastes like black coffee to me. read more

Good food but not a great indoor eating environment. The tables are very close together and the air vents blow really strongly right at the tables. The line from the door to the counter where you order goes right through the middle. It was crowded and noisy and outside; the patio is just off a very busy street - also lots of noise and exhaust from traffic. The restaurant looks old and could use some fix up but it seemed pretty clean. The staff was friendly enough and for how crowded they were, our food came out pretty quick. Everything we ordered was good (not great) and the prices weren't out of line. I would have liked to try the baked goods but they were out by the time we got there at 12:15. read more

Great place. Horrible street noise!! Busy place at 9:00am on a nice day! I would like to return here often, but the cramped inside area makes for an echoing and loud place. The outside area would be amazing if they built a tall wall to keep out the street noise. Really loud!! Love the shade tree though. Our drinks and food were brought to us at our table, and our dirty dishes were taken away from us when we were finished, so that was very nice. I ordered a hot skinny vanilla latte and I didn't love the coffee bean they used. It was very bitter. But my breakfast burrito was amazing! I ordered the machaca which isn't really machaca but was chorizo. It was really delicious though. They fried the tortilla and the potatoes nicely. The scrambled egg was mixed with the chorizo and fresh chopped jalapeños. It was very tasty. I had it smothered with their pork green chili and that was pretty tasty as well. So, my final analysis is that it's a solid four-star coffee shop, but I do know they have other locations where the ambience may be nicer. Not a fan of their coffee beans today. read more

On our first trip to Aurora, we stopped at The French Press in Iliff Plaza (next to Chipotle). Right away, we noticed the lunch crowd (line at the counter and nearly every table inside and out was taken). The menu is written on the wall. We quickly made our mental selections and waited in line to place our order at the counter. It moves pretty fast. I asked for the black bean, quinoa salad with chicken and a side of fries. I received the salad with no beans and undercooked fries. It wasn't a terrible mix-up, but it's the reason I subtracted some stars. We visited the French Press as one of our first stops after moving to Denver for a quick brunch. On a Saturday late morning it was very busy. They do have limited seating, but people seemed to move in and out relatively quickly so we didn't have an issue sitting after our order was placed. The price seemed a bit steep for a counter service restaurant, and the food (while good) didn't make a strong impression. There wasn't anything bad about it, but it seemed to lack flavor. I typically avoid negative reviews, both leaving and reading, because they are always subjective and usually have something to do with service. So I'll say first, staff was good, service was good, food was ok (my order was, IMO, surprisingly bland based on the description and ingredients - wife's bacon was cold, eggs undercooked). The bigger issue I have is the place is really kind of dirty. Thick layer of dust on the window sill and blinds, ketchup splattered, condiment bottles, S&P shakers were sticky. Clean restaurant with smaller 4-seat tables that can easily be combined if you have more than 4 in your party (just get there early if you want a place to sit!) There are a ton of options to choose from, including gluten free. I ordered the Veggie Hash with gf toast, and a side of gf biscuits to take home. Both were good! I like that the hash was mild and sweet, and not super salty--a good dish to add more spice to if you want, or leave as is for something easy on the palette. Kids got pancakes and my husband got the Egg in a Hole dish, which they liked. He also got a decaf coffee that he wasn't fond of because it tasted like instant coffee, yet my regular coffee was good. Pretty sure our cholesterol jumped by 50 that day because of the amount of salt that was dumped on our dishes.
