We had campsite 8 for our travel trailer and our friends rented the tiny cabin right next door. While our campsite was a bit small and out in the open, we hung out at the cabin which had a front porch looking out over the lake. Beach across the street and a restaurant with ice cream also across the street. It was an absolutely beautiful spot! Friendly staff for check in and throughout the weekend. We've been coming here for years. In 2012, New owners took over (nice family) and began the task of rebuilding the entire campground. New rec-hall, new bathrooms rewired the entire electrical system, new cabins, paving etc I could go on and on! They truly showed pride of ownership and made it a great place for families. Every holiday weekend they would have great bands at the rec hall, always had fun activities for the kids etc. In 2022 the owners were offered a chance to sell, and with their kids growing older, they jumped at the opportunity..... I don't blame them. Anyway, the new owners were a big corporation, and of course, they had to hire someone to run the place. Bit by bit, the once beautiful campground began falling into disrepair. The office was never open, they no longer offered WIFI or cable TV, they even stopped selling propane! Who does that? The beach area was neglected and no longer raked.. sad indeed. We were getting less and less, and paying more and more! Several seasonal campers left and what was a long wait list for a site, became a shell of its former self. Hopefully management gets it together and turns the corner soon, otherwise it will become another condo development. read more

we were very disappointed in this campground. mostly seasonal campers and what seemed to be three sites for reservations...sites 8,9,10. Ridiculously steep entrance and a very tight exit dirt road. the sewage pipe was not usable without a special attachment. The WiFi barely connected. Even the SSID was sparse. the beach? not much of a beach - a tiny somewhat sandy area that we chose not to visit as it wasn't appealing. sites were cramped.the rec hall had a huge sign to keep doors closed and it was so hot inside we couldn't use the facilities. no AC. read more

Owners are rude..I recommended them to my daughter when she was coming up from Massachusetts a couple of years ago...she came up with her fiancé a couple of friends...the friends arrived late one of them was being rowdy so he left of his own volition...the owners went to my daughter's cabin and told her fiancé and his brother "if we catch you doing drugs we are calling the police" My daughter's fiancé is Asian so is his brother and his then girlfriend and the other 2 friends...they were offended so they checked out the following morning a day early...when they went to the office to check out and asked to be refunded the second night they refused citing a two week cancelation policy... I am sorry but they were planning to stay both nights but they were not planning on being insulted....they were not going to stay somewhere they were not comfortable...how are you going to refuse a refund citing a 2 week cancelation policy when the reason that they checked out early is because they were threatened with possible arrest when in fact NONE of them do drugs...I live in town but was not informed of the details of the situation until this past summer when I asked my daughter if she wanted to go back to the campground because she knew how I would react...I have lived in Lebanon for 3 years and with the exception of a few fools everyone we have met has been very welcoming...except the owners read more

We have been traveling the country for the past two months. This is one of the best campgrounds we have been to during our travels. The bathhouses are beautiful, private, and cleaned throughout the day. Management is super friendly and helpful. The owner gives great recommendations of things to do in the area and keeps the campground up to date. The check in and check out process was swift and simple. I would absolutely recommend this campground to locals and people from out of state. She also has children of her own and you can tell that safety is very much a priority on land and in the water. Very kid friendly and overall exceptional in every area. read more

Owners were great and the people who stayed there were very friendly. We camped there after a long day of bikepacking, and the pwners made sure we were able to find some food for dinner, and brought us up a couple of beers which was above and beyond! Some of the comments on here appear a bit old. We stayed here recently and had a great visit. The owners are really nice and went out of their way to ensure we were happy with the site. This campground is across the street from a beautiful lake and there is a little ice cream shop right across the street which is fun. The sites are a little close together but we still had plenty of room. There were also many other campers with kiddos so our kiddo had a blast riding bikes and enjoying the playground! Very friendly owners and they confirmed they purchased it a few years ago. It is not the same owners from 3-4 years ago. The place was nice and very clean! Great place and we would certainly return if we are in the area again! read more

I don't have much to say about this campground because it has already wasted too many moments of my time on this earth. Let's keep it short and sweet. The staff look like little goblins, the grounds look more like 8 mile than a scenic camping experience and everybody is about as bad a person as you could imagine. The only worse camping experience I can think of would be getting set on fire in someones backyard while being chased by starved grizzly bears. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place like the middle east and either find an alternative (which there are many), or pull a lawn chair into the sun in your backyard. read more

My wife and I decided to go camping up near lebenon for the weekend, we found this campground and thought we were in luck! It sounded clean and offered majestic views in fact the website says "We invite you to swim, sun, fish, boat, relax ---- just have fun and enjoy your stay at Mascoma Lake Campground. Our campground is for all ages and all types of camping. We take pride in our grounds and facilities and offer a clean, well maintained, and picturesque camping facility, which can accommodate your camping needs" What we got was a cramped not wooded, not picturesque, no view unless you like the back side of a oversized rv, our site had pieces of medal bedded into the ground, trash form previous campers and the site was about as big as two parking spaces, paul (i assume the owner) told me this was a family site ment to hold 2 adults and 3 kids, I would never bring my family here. Every thing was dirty and I felt cheated and lied to by the website and the staff at mascoma lake. My suggestion to any one thinking of camping here, go to ascunty park just 10 minn away! For a cleaner and much more comfortable camping experience. read more

The website looked awesome, offering "terraced views of the lake" and "every site has a view." Hmm...if you want to be packed like sardines in an RV, you do have a terraced view of the lake (albiet with others breathing down your neck). If you are tenting, there are no views of the lake. You are stuck at the very top of a very steep hill (that you need to climb every time you need to pee). There is barely room to park. There is even less room to pitch your tent, or move. Being packed in like sardines is even worse when you can't hide inside an RV. This is where greed gets you; packing in way too many sites on your measly hill. read more

This campground is a waste of time. My tent was set up on a rocky patch of dirt because that was all there was to offer. The people were rude. The sites were on top of each other. The bathrooms were unkempt. To say I was disappointed with my short-lived experience there is an understatement. After one night my group decided to find a new campground. Mascoma is horrible compared to the beautiful place we found about 20 miles away in Hanover. Go back to Mascoma Lake Campground? I would rather be in a coma!! read more

If only I could give negative stars....... In my 12 years of camping I have NEVER experienced such a dump. In fact, you would be better off camping at the dump. The location is the only thing they have going for them since their negligence cannot screw up what Mother Nature has provided....a pristine lake with views from the campground. The fact that they had given away our site was a blessing in disguise since I told them is was my reason for leaving. Truth be told, I would have let them keep my deposit just to buy my way out of this hell hole. I was offered my choice of remaining "sites" and upon close inspection I was able to see the true condition of this slum. Sites are on top of one another and there is little or no parking if you are tenting. Where to place your tent is questionable with the minefield of exposed boulders. Fortunately I did not have to experience the bathrooms but the odor of a septic system in need of repair was ever present. The clientele looked as though they would be comfortable sleeping in the campground dumpster. Had I read the previously posted Yelp reviews, I could have saved my time and money. Lesson learned. Mascoma Lake Campground is under new management in 2014 (I asked as I had read the yelp reviews from 2010). The new owners are lovely people who are working hard to improve the campground. I stayed in one of the two cabins and it was clean, the bathrooms were clean, my stay was quiet and pleasant. I can't speak to tenting there. This is first and foremost an RV park and it feels that way, but you're also right across the street from a stunning lake, there's canoes and kayaks, great nature, and the RV park folks seemed like they had their own fun community. read more

Wow, where do I start....First off, this is not a campground. This is a trailer park. I have never really seen anything like this before. I drove into the front of the place and was thinking I must have gone to the wrong campground. Unfortunately, the GPS was dead on, this was where I would be spending my weekend... They called their grass patch a beach, which is not easily accessible. You have to walk down a steep embankment and cross a busy road just to get to the beach. There are no activities in the area and the campsites are packed in like sardines. I live in Boston and felt more crowded in this campsite. We were supposed to stay at the campsite all weekend but we ended up leaving White Trashville the next morning and it was the greatest feeling in the world. We actually found another campsite within 20 minutes of this one and it was glorious. It was the most wonderful campground in the world. I don't even want to say the name of it because it is a hidden gem. All I can say is, do your research. One of the previous yelpers said they valued their vacation time. I can't agree more. I would be devasted if I had travelled a long distance for a weeks vacation at this place. Actually I would probably be reduced to tears, and lets face it, dudes dont cry. read more

We camped with two other families which included one dog and a total of seven kids. We had a blast! The best part was the free boat rentals. All of our kids, including our 6 and 7 year olds kayaked, canoed, and rowed in a boat. The lake was beautiful. There were not a lot of motor boats which made our kayaking experience very enjoyable. The children had a great time playing and swimming at the beach. When they say that they are a family friendly campground they mean it! It was quiet and peaceful. So quiet in fact that we were able to hear a resident loon call from the lake. What a gift! The bathroom was clean and the showers were free. Paul was very helpful and courteous even though we interrupted his weed whacking at least three times trying to get our families outfitted in life vests. read more

Everyone is on top of each other. The septic system smells. The grounds are unkempt. My short visit there was horrible. Please do not waste your money on this place! I lied when I said 5 stars, just wanted to get your attention. Don't go to this place if you want to make a little noise, they are very strict and your neighbors will also hate you for it. The campsites are on top of eachother. My friends and I, who are all in our late 20's, were chilling around the fire drinking our drinks and having good laughs...but we were treated like we were some kind of frat party and like we were teenagers. We got yelled at twice by the owner, he was exremely rude, over the top. The next morning we paid for our stay because the office was closed on Friday night when we got there, conveniently enough, AFTER WE PAID the owner's wife gives us a visit to say we'll probably be evicted. Oh that's nice, now that you have our money you're going to kick us out. Before she could tell us the decision we made the move ourselves and left because this place sucked. Campsites on top of each other, gross facilities (no soap in the bathrooms) and nothing else to offer really. This is place is only for families so don't go if you plan on having a good time. Found a much better campsite nearby and loved life once we were out of the hell hole called Mascoma Lake Campground... read more

Okay...so something's happened to this place. The reviews that I've read are very positive. The location is excellent. The activites are fantastic. This is by far the worst campground that my family and I have stayed at. The brochure and website advertise 600 ft of beachfront; in reality it's about 50 feet of beach and 550 ft of boat slips for seasonal campers. On the weekend, the crowds were extraordinarily rowdy. I mean beyond the normal fun camping crowd. Loud music, profanity, drinking games, sex in the bathrooms. And this wasn't just one unruly camping party. It was many of the campers in the tenting area. The owner came through the area once each evening. He warned the crowd that quiet hours commenced at 11PM and then moved on. Kids were playing in the empty site next to us...they were throwing water at each other using one of the PVC septic system covers...I explained to the boys that it probably wasn't a good idea. Where were the parents? I think were playing a drinking game! The brochure advertises that the sites support 40ft rigs. Hmmm. I wonder where those were. We're in a 30ft Class-C and we got in okay. But at least 4 other trailers had to leave because they couldn't get into their spot. Like the ads say, the park is terraced. This means that you a 10ft wide road running along a fairly steep drop-off. The sites are MAYBE 30 feet deep. It just don't add up! Several of the trailers were, by necessity, reaching into the road. You'd think the owners would cut out just ONE of the very close sites so he could angle the sites making it easier for the larger rigs to get in to place. Alas, such design and customer considerations appear to be beyond the pale of the owners. I am writing this on our last night in this campground. We paid for one more day but my vacation time is WAY to precious to be dealing with this. We're going to find another campground in the morning. Some good will come of this however. The camper next to us brought 3 vehicles with them. Now they'll be able to get two of their vehicles off the road and use our space to park them. If you're 18 years old. If you like loud rap music and drinking games. If you don't care much about swimming or playgrounds or a peaceful camping experience...then this place is for you! read more

This was our first trip to this campground. So I will start off by saying the new owners are trying real hard to make this place a success. this seems to be a campground where all the sites are almost permanent. Some of these camp sites look like a land fill. the sites are teared on the side of a hill overlooking the lake. the only problem is you cannot see the lake for the campers in front of you. the campground is tight and the sites are small. a lot of work needs to be done before I will return. I wish the owners Good Luck and hope they make the needed improvements that will be needed to make this place a success. read more

I booked a weekend at Mascoma Lake Campground after looking at their Facebook page. I wish I had come to yelp first because all of the bad reviews are true. The campground is on a steep slope it's located across a road to the lake the lake is not user-friendly. The staff was difficult to locate when we had questions, and were not helpful nor did they seem to want to help us. The kid in the store could not make correct change for us. Facilities were messy and dirty. BAB BAD BAD experience. I had to as a star or it would not let me post. read more

The new owners are very friendly, and are trying very hard to improve the campground. I had stayed there when previous owners had it, not fun. The new owners are very accommodating, and will help with problems when needed. There have been many improvements to sites and buildings. Free use of beach and kayaks/canoes. More activities for customers, like live bands, holiday activities, ect... Restaurant with ice cream window within walking distance. Great fishing on lake! Sites are small, but owners had nothing to do with that. Seasonal renters are friendly for the most part. Give it a second chance, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Our girl scout troop of 7 girls and 2 leaders were booked to stay at Mascoma lake for our last troop trip. The website looks great but pay close attention and notice that most of the pictures do NOT include photos of actual sites or even the campground itself. We thought this place was great especialy since girl scout troops stay free however, when we got there we were VERY disapointed. The site they sent us to was not the site I had booked and when we got there, it wasnt even a site at all according to their site map. It looks like they needed to make more room and make 2 makeshift sites on either side of their brush dump site. Ours had a broken picnic table and no fire pit. Who wants to camp with no firepit?! We went back to the office and requested the original site I had booked. Once we got there, we couldnt even park. another car was parked in our site because they didnt have a place to park their car as their site seemed to be another makeshift site. The site was so small I never would have fit a 4 person tent let alone a 9 person tent and a 4 person tent for 9 people and all their gear. It didn't take long for us to see that this was NOT the place for us, free or not!! We ended up calling a place 30 minutes north that was able to accomodate us that was excellent!! read more
