Finally made my way to Masons and I understand the hype. The soup dumplings are truly delicious along with the angus beef bao buns. The beef was tender and it was just very yummy. I will have to try the angus beef noodles next time I am here. From what I have heard, this is an experience that you have to try dining in instead of take out. The soup dumplings are what Masons is known for. I was very surprised the soup was still in the dumpling and didn't spill out. The dumpling skin didn't stick to the "plate" so the soup was intact. The crab was very strong and I'm not a fan of crab so I wasn't a fan. The pan fried dumplings were really good. I wasn't a fan of the boil dumplings. They were kind of plain in my opinion. Mason's isn't what it use to be, came in to get my usual pan fried dumplings. I was only was able to eat 2 almost 3 before agreeing with my husband that they were very charred & tasted very oily. They also had a very burnt taste. We told the waitress named "Ana G" on receipt about the problem which she replied, "oh sorry." & completely bypassed then walked away instead of offering a new order or partial refund/something else. We then decided it was best to just go elsewhere since the food wasn't worth eating & the customer service wasn't great whatsoever. To those people that believe Gluten Free is the answer to a healthier diet (myself included) keep in mind that the cereal grain 'wheat' has over 30 subspecies and humans have been eating this gluten for over 10,000 years since Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq). Masons Dumpling Shop started in 2001CE with original founders who opened first store in San Gabriel Valley (SGV in the Los Angles area) they've expanded to Aurora CO win for me and you. Their menu is closely related to 'Din Tai Fung' but mom and pop style. Dumplings are always crispy good served in person or reheated in a toaster oven. What stands out here are the appetizers, the ingredients are fresh and it's gluten free, vegan free, but not money free. Parking lot is fairly busy next to liquor store. The evening dining room gets crowded so I recommend take out dinner with the ToastTab app. I love the concept and hope they keep their menu small and focused. Pork Belly Bun - on Wikipedia 'Red braised pork belly' you can read about the history and how to make the sauce. A Bao 包子 bun is basically a stuffed taco with meat. This one came with spicy chili oil. Bok Choy, Seaweed salad, wood ear, lotus roots, and smoked tofu are great options for gluten free believers (less than 1% of population actually have celiac disease) alright I'll stop fuming the gluten debate. I really hate to post this review because I had such high hopes for this place. However, we were extremely let down by the quality of the soup dumplings. Almost all of the soup dumplings that we ordered had burst. The 2-3 that didn't barely had any soup filling and if they did, it was bland and flavorless. There was absolutely no flavor distinction between the crab soup vs the steamed soup dumplings. I'm from Southern California so I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to soup dumplings but I didn't expect the flavor to be lacking as much as Mason dumplings was. I should also mention that there was barely any filling inside either. How does a pork filled dumpling barely have any flavor? We also ordered the beef noodle soup, which was fine. The broth was quite bland and under seasoned, I'm used to a lot more xian-wei (umami) in a beef noodle broth. All in all, highly doubt we'll be back as it was quite underwhelming. Oh my wow! Mason's dumplings are the BEST dumplings I've ever had. My partner and I were both left speechless over how delicious they are! Plus, the service is wonderful! Everybody was so friendly and helpful. They answered any questions we had and made some lovely recommendations! We ended up trying the pork and crab steamed buns and the pan-fried beef, cheese, and onion dumplings! We enjoyed both of them, but the pork and crab steamed dumpling... ohhhh my! Can't believe that it took me so long to finally try Mason's Dumplings Shop (it has been in my bookmarks basically since it's grand opening). Lots of dishes to choose from, and they do accommodate vegans and vegetarians very well (as some dumpling shops don't have any meat-free options). I actually liked fish steamed dumplings better than the fried ones but everything was lacking flavor and, honestly, tasted a bit dull to me (maybe I will experiment more with their sauces next time). We came on a Friday night for dinner and it was packed. The manager told us it would be about a 20-25 min wait since there were about 3 groups in front of us and asked for my number and told me we could wait in our car and they would give us a call. Our car was parked right in front of the windows and we could see each party be seated. We ended up waiting 40-45 min and still no call. The "lobby" area was clearing out and I saw a party that arrived after us ended up being seated before us. We ended up just walking back in and waiting another 10-15 min to be noticed by someone and seated. At this point, I was already annoyed but was going to give them a chance and see if their food was worth the wait. Unfortunately, it wasn't. We ordered the soup dumplings and I've tried xiao long baos all over the world so I feel like I have some knowledge on how they should be. The first thing I noticed was that the dumplings didn't sag so you know there isn't enough soup in them and sure enough, there wasn't. Secondly, they were too salty for my taste. This was a hard one for me to rate... I really wanted to rate them higher but competition is stiff when it comes to dumplings in Denver/Aurora! I'd rate the overall quality of most of their dumplings at 6 or 7 out of 10. But the soup dumplings were a disappointment... They came out steaming hot and looked great but sadly most of them stuck to the lining and the soup poured out before we could get them onto our spoons. The cutest and most delicious dumplings so far! The parking lot is a little small so be prepared to do a four point turn if you don't find a spot. When you are seated there's a QR code that allows you to order and pay all at once. You can add more to your order and just tell it what seat/table you are at. We got the soup steamed dumplings and the pan fried chicken dumplings. The soup dumplings were to die for! So flavorful and delicious! A little soup in the dumpling enhanced the flavor! The pan fired chicken dumplings were lacking in flavor. I felt like it needed a little more seasoning. The soy sauce that came with it was delicious and did help with the chicken dumpling flavor. Whenever I visit Castle Rock, I miss the diversity of food in Phoenix. I've gotten accustomed to not expecting much outside of Denver. I love the manga wallpaper and artwork on the menu; SO cute. There is a bar area as well as dining tables. They seemed to be utilized as family style when it became busy. Disappointed to read that other Yelpers received bad service but this was not our case. We were quickly seated at the bar, given menus, and provided water. We placed our order and were served within 10 minutes! This was on Labor Day, nonetheless! Pan fried pork dumplings (10), $12: INCREDIBLY juicy! Cooked well. Made with pork only- no chives or veggies. Slightly disappointed there isn't a pan fried pork and chives option. Pan fried beef, cheese, and onion dumplings (10), $13: The owner described this as a cheeseburger dumpling and he's right! Chinese/American fusion at its best! Not overly cheesy (is there such a thing?!) or too overpowering of an onion taste. Juicy as well! Steamed soup dumplings (8), $13: Yes, they are served on a plastic plate which is less than ideal/aesthetic. BUT they are juicy and soupy goodness! Best eaten hot and in restaurant, not to go. What threw me off and was get-outta-here good was my friend's vegetarian (or it might have been vegan) dumplings. It doesn't have any soup yet it was not dry. The skin felt very supple and the fillings tasty. Our friends were delighted by the lotus roots appetizer. We all were totally swept by the hot Thai peppers found in the Wood Ear Mushroom salad. OMG those tiny little devils. It was a good appetizer though. The noodles felt like hand-pulled, too bad the broth was bland. Even paired with something as flavorful as braised pork belly... tsk tsk tsk. What's more bland? The fish dumplings. If you want good flavor, try the vegan beef in a rice bowl, my friend had to double make sure it wasn't real beef. Food: top tier soup dumplings in Denver metro. I am personally not a fan of fried dumplings but have to admit that Mason's cranks out a consistent fare in this category. The Bao are cravable bites that I would recommend to everyone, especially the beef ones that taste like great short ribs. The parking is a mess and bussing is hit or miss. The restaurant is so busy that they readily sacrifice cleanliness. Expect a little sticky with every step and random rice grains in unexpected places. Service is also is randomly good or bad. If you ask for anything that isn't either on the table or served up front, lower your expectations as the servers will almost always forget your request. On the horizon, however, I am told Mason's is looking to open a shop in the DTC area. I feel this is a great move and they will remedy a good deal of their Aurora issues with this move. read more

I had higher hopes for this place, but it wasn't there. Service is not my favorite where you order through your phone, and staff bring you food. I say this because the service was very spotty and there was no Wi-Fi offering that we could find, and we were not the only ones having the issue. It was also hard getting an employee to fill water since they were busy or not out from behind the kitchen except when delivering food. You can see the entire kitchen and staff while you are dining, so you at least can see how busy they are. The food was a hit and a miss, and the arrivals of the dishes were quick and some were drastically slow. You can tell certain people were focused only on certain things. The boiled dumplings were a miss. Half of them were falling out of the skin and there wasn't much flavor to the inside. The wood ear mushrooms were good flavor, but they were cold. I wasn't expecting that. The soup dumplings were delicious if you actually got soup. Half of the skins were broken, so the soup leaked out. The pan fried chicken dumplings were okay, but the chili oil kicked them up a notch. The beef soup was different. The beef was actually marinated, so it gave the soup some flavor. The pork belly boa was good. I guess least we were able to pay on our phone and just leave when we were done since half our dishes were quick, but the other half took quite awhile and finished our other dishes well before they came. read more

This place was a cute little shop that was perfect for a quick meal. The ambience is very casual, and the service was fast and friendly. I started with the seaweed salad. I've never had fresh seaweed salad like this before. Everything was made fresh and delicious. The flavor was not have any that I had before from a seaweed salad. I could've eaten three of these seaweed salad plates. We also got the scallion pancakes which were pretty good. It's hard to mess those up. The soup dumplings had a good flavor, but many of them had exploded. The chef offered to make us new ones, but we were fine eating what was left of the soup in the dumplings. Mason Decided to have dumplings for dinner. There's parking but watch out for potholes. It's a nice and well lighted dining area. Very open concept. There's a table where you can place your takeout orders, all set up with a menu and paper menus to mark your order on. Masks still appreciated. Food delivery order pick up area along the payment counter. There is a high community table and regular tables. The kitchen area is visible from the dining room and it's interesting to watch them. Be aware that an order is different quantities. One order of soup dumplings is 8 dumplings. Steamed is 10 and boiled is 10 dumplings. The server pointed this out to us so we wouldn't accidentally order 100 dumplings. We chose flavors stewed bean curd, fish and Napa steamed dumplings, crab and pork soup steamed dumplings, steamed soup dumplings and stewed angus beef noodles. The dumplings were good but we still haven't tasted a soup dumpling like the one we had in Singapore. I liked the fish and Napa cabbage dumplings. He liked his noodles. The whole meal was tasty. The bean curd could have used more flavor but with the chili it was good. The servings are just nice. Servers friendly. So, I think I blacked out and ordered almost the whole menu. I was having some friends over and so I order a few things for us to share. We got several kinds of dumplings from steamed, fried, pork, fish, crab and shrimp, and soup. We also got the mushroom meat over rice and the beef over noodles. I don't think there was anything we didn't like. It was amazing!!! The photo ended up being more food then we needed and had some leftovers. SIPS: While we did not order beverages this time around they offer a variety of drinks including Coke products, Chinese bevvies (both boozy and not), and some Colorado local boozy bevvies. SUSTENANCE: The menu boasts a variety of different preparations for the dumpling including: boiled, steamed, and pan-fried. Seeing that dumplings are the main event here you will find a limited variety of other offerings including apps, buns, noodles, and rice. After browsing the drool-worthy menu we opted for an order of the steamed soup and one of the steamed crab and pork dumplings. Yum! The steamed soup dumplings were very much my favorite. Both had great flavor and the house made chili oil was a wonderful compliment to them! SERVICE: The folks working behind the counter were on it. When we walked in they asked if we were picking up or placing our order. We stated that we needed to place an order, and they ran down the process with us. After our order was placed it was maybe 10-15 minutes before our order was ready. The misses and I were fortunate enough to be shown and treated to this place by her relatives who live in the area. We got to try a ton of stuff thanks to them, #feedyourlocalgradstudent The warm up was a lot of dumplings and the finisher was a beef noodle soup and pork noodle soup. The pork belly noodle soup had those succulent, fatty pieces you want when you think CHUNKS of pork belly in a soup. I had the beef noodle soup the next day since the misses got full after the wonderful amount her relatives order (if you all ever read this, thank you so much again) which means this guy did not have to cook. Cooking is always great but time is of the essence nowadays. The beef noodle soup was hearty. The beef in there was also cut into portions that really stick to your gut and satisfy your inner carnivore. The only thing I noticed outside the great experience was service seemed to be off that night. Mason's first opened shortly before Covid or maybe it was during Covid I don't really remember but when they first open they only did takeout and I remember stopping there and ordering but they hadn't figure out how to make to go soup dumplings so all I could order were the fried or the steamed dumplings and it wasn't really a great experience however they have since opened their dining room so I thought I would write a review on that experience because it was much better. I did not take any photos of the inside of the restaurant this time just because it slipped my mind but I did order the pork fried dumplings and the pork and crab soup dumplings. Things take a long time to come out so if you're starving, get an appetizer. What I like about Masons is that it kind of reminds me of authentic Taiwan dumpling shops this is because the way you order is using a little slip of paper and marking the quantity you want next to the menu item. They also have the black vinegar, soy sauce, chili oil all lined up and ready for you to use and they have authentic Taiwanese bottled tea. The wait staff is polite but it is sometimes hard to get their attention because there's usually only two people on shift at a time. When my dumplings came out, the fried dumplings came out first and they did still seemed a little bit greasy however they were definitely charred on the top and had a great flavor. When you bite into them they were crispy and the skin is nice and doughy slightly sweet and the meat was cooked perfectly. If they could find a way to reduce the amount of oil in them they would be perfect. I have had the pork soup dumplings before and I honestly will say that I prefer those over the ones with the crab. Normally I like crab dumplings and if you really like the flavor of crab meat then I recommend ordering them however I am pregnant so my tastes are a little bit off and the crab was slightly overpowering for me. That being said, they were cooked wonderfully, they had the perfect amount of soup in them and the flavor was good. Based off of this experience compared to my take out one, I would come back. The whole meal was about $32 before tip which for what I ordered was reasonable in the US but in Taiwan I probably could've got it for maybe $15. Oh and the bathroom was super clean. Soup Dumplings to die for (They're still fab when it's takeaway but they'll put a little sticker on the container to tell you that they're better in person which - okay fine we'll come hang out in person next time). After the soup dumplings they've got multiple types of really fantastic pot stickers, I love the Angus beef bao buns, they're awesome. And then the Scallion pancakes have been out-of-this-world good. So happy with them. They've got a few less than stellar reviews for In-person dining, but the quality of the dumps here just doesn't make me worried at all. Five out of five! Given by myself and my 10 year old foodie. From the second we walked in we felt welcomed and the staff was attentive and friendly. We sat at the bar area, and within 1 minute of us sitting we had water and menus. A+. My son ordered green hot tea, and it came in a timely manner. For food, we ordered pork steamed dumplings, crab and pork steamed dumplings, fried pork dumplings, a beef bun, and beef noodles. Everything came out in a good order and as we were finishing our first courses. Perfect timing. The staff was great with recommending items on the menu. They also checked on us throughout the meal. My son after a few minutes was like their service gets a 5 star review from me. If you want an easy, quick meal and a nice clean spot with excellent service this is it!!! Well done!!!! After a busy fun day with my niece, we drove out to this place to try it. She loves dumplings and thought that it was a perfect day to try this place out. The place is decent sized and casual. Staff were friendly. Our table and chairs were a little dirty. Our server was good. Their menu looked tasty and plentiful to select from. We started off and shared the pork belly steamed bun and rice bowl. The pork belly steamed bun was good and a little bigger than the typical size at other places I've had. The pork belly over rice was good. The pork belly was very soft, not very flavorful, and was just ok. The pan fried pork dumplings were are a lot bigger than the typical size at other places too. We were quite surprised how big they were. I liked how they pan fried it, but it was a little on the oily side for us. It also lacked flavor too. The steamed soup dumplings were probably our favorite from everything we had. The broth was okay. Overall, this place is okay if you're ever needing to get a quick fix and close by. When the coldest day of the winter hits the Denver metro area, I highly recommend Mason's for a steamy bowl of soup. Three of us didn't vary our selections as we each got the Stewed Angus beef (chuck steak cut) in a very rich broth, wheat noodles and bok Choi will warm your innards right up. The pork meatball soup dumpling, called xiao long bao in China, came to the table steaming hot. After allowing them to cool a tad, it is traditional to dip them into a dark variety of rice vinegar. It is an explosion of flavor in your mouth. We did start our meal with stewed pork belly bun (Bao) with crispy slaw. The pork was very tender and juicy and the crunchy slaw hit the spot with the white bao bun. Just cannot resist these fine treats. Still a super solid spot for dumplings! Service is quick and friendly and our order was correct this time. We tried the beef bun and the pork belly rice bowl as well as the pan fried pork dumplings and the boiled chive dumplings. Everything tasted incredible and although I'm not a huge pork belly fan I couldn't get enough of the bowl. The Bok Choy and pickled veggies along with the flavorful pork made for a wonderful flavor profile! The dumplings came out hot and were pillowy bites of deliciousness! The vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil on the table was great because you could make your own sauce mix based on how spicy you like it! It was 95 degrees so we didn't do any soups or xiao long bao but we definitely will in the winter time. We wish Masons was closer to home as I think we'd be there weekly for our dumpling fix! read more

THE HYPE IS RIGHT. Oohhhh Mason's Dumplings...you complete me :) So GOOOOOD. I feel like I've been cheated by life with pork dumplings previously until today, though their site does say, "not your average dumpling shop." Always been a fan of pork dumplings in my previous experience, but what they serve is in a whole other stratosphere. AH-MAZING. And I won't be able to go back... Only recently experienced soup dumplings this year, love 'em, & theirs are equally amazing. Words just don't do it justice. The stewed pork belly bun was different for being "stewed" which I was a little iffy on what the texture and taste would be like in comparison to other places with pork belly buns that is usually grilled pork belly. This was really great. It is also a big portion with a bun that doesn't seem pre-frozen-run-of-the-mill, well worth the $7 a single bun. It's comparable to a big burger at many burger joints. Speaking of portions and prices, for the number of dumplings per order and size is great for the price & portion. Perfect to split and share! They are take out and delivery right now. It's a fairly spacious locations with decent parking, great system to carry-out; online ordering was a breeze, though there are a few special items only available for order in store - which is clear as to why as they are popular and sell out quick.
