I am in the process of cleaning out my mother-in-laws house. We placed her into a home with dementia, and are selling her home to pay for her care. Over the years, she hoarded a ton of stuff. At first I was going to bring a dumpster in, the cost was $400, I could not include appliances, air conditioners, or TV's (all extra charges) and I had to take everything out my self. Because of a bad back injury, as well as trouble rounding up friends to help, I decided this was not the best course of action. I had about 15 pieces of heavy furniture to get rid of: washing machine, desk, 2 big storage cabinets, hope chest, 4 dressers, amongst other things. I called the Got Junk people, had them come in and make me an offer. Told me it was going to be $1200 to remove everything, plus there would be surcharges on tv & ac. Well, seeing that I was in a pinch, and under time constraints, I had the got junk people fill up there truck with a couple of the dressers and some other things, at a cost of $600. They told me they would be back for the rest, and of course never came back. We explored donating the furniture, and most of the charities were not able to come in a quick enough time frame. I contacted a few other junk removal sites, and was told I'd be looking at $650 for the remaining furniture, which includes the items I listed above.I discovered Mass Junk here on Yelp, and boy am I glad I did. I left Steve a message on his website, describing the items and their sizes that I need to remove. The next day, he estimated the price at $400. I called him back and scheduled an appointment for the following day. The guys from Mass Junk just left my house, and boy am I pleased. They were fast, courteous and professional. They took everything on my list, and honored Steve's quote. I cannot thank Mass Junk enough for their quick & professional service. I can now focus on packing and cleaning up the rest of the house. Couldn't be happier. I never post reviews, but this was such a great experience that I had to share it. First two junk removal companies I called weren't even interested in the job, (one quoted me very high w/out even seeing the job, 2nd one didn't show up after saying they'd come by and give me a quote and didn't return my follow-up call) so I was very discouraged. Very glad I made the 3rd call. Had been calling based on reviews and proximity, and Mass Junk had the reviews but I was worried about them being based in Melrose, while I'm in Waltham. As it happens, they had a truck and crew available and very close by. Not 10 minutes after making the call the crew were here. The three guys (sorry, it all went so quick I didn't retain their names) were perfectly professional, friendly and polite. Had a couple of piles of what used to be an 8x10' wooden shed, and some assorted junk that had accumulated in it over the years, which had to be carried probably 25 - 30 yards uphill to the end of my driveway which is as close as any vehicle could get. Clearly, I overestimated the difficulty of the job, because these guys quoted me a price quite a bit lower than what I expected/was prepared to pay, and they got it done way quicker than I had assumed it would take. Exactly one hour from first contact to job well done, and it cost about 2/3 of what I expected to pay. How could I not be thrilled? Happy to post rave reviews here and elsewhere. I won't hesitate to call them again if the need arises and will definitely recommend them enthusiastically to others. Truly the best experience I've ever had hiring any kind of help. Even the best jobs I've had done, I had at least a couple of nits to pick; not this time - perfect! After researching local junk removal companies on the internet and reading reviews, I called Mass Junk to set an appointment due to the positive feedback that it was receiving from other former customers. We needed help in household junk removal that accumulated over 25 years in the garage, attic, living area and basement at my Mom's house. My husband and I found Stephen, owner, very pleasant and easy to work with. He came over prior to removal for an estimate and was patient in providing any information I requested. I also liked that Stephen was able to schedule us in on Saturday so that we did not have to take time off from work. He and his crew were very professional, courteous, quick and experienced in utilizing every space on the trucks. We were amazed at how much effort was spent to make sure everything fit. We felt we got more than our money's worth and that they made cleaning out so much simpler and less taxing on our aging bodies. We were really impressed by the pride that they obvious had after each area was cleaned out by making sure that I checked it before going onto the next area. In our condo, we had a few heavy items to remove and we called Mass Junk (we couldn't lift the stuff, plus we had nowhere to take it). They agreed to come over on very short notice and said we might as well dump more stuff if we have it because the minimum charge provides 1/4 truckload. We ended up finding a HUGE amount more stuff to get rid of, from the attic and basement and elsewhere, and they handled it all really well -- and we got a VERY fair price. (We ended up using almost half a truck!) If you have a lot of stuff to get rid of and want HONEST, good people to come carry it away, you can't go wrong with these guys. I would recommend them to anybody in the area. By the way, we found Mass Junk after a competitor of theirs bragged about his high Yelp ratings: in reality the competitor's ratings were not so great, but Mass Junk's were. We were not disappointed -- in today's economy you want to find honest, capable people who don't charge an arm and a leg and who really get the job done right. For an estate sale, my wife and I spent the entire summer cleaning out a two family house by renting two 15 yard dumpsters at $425. each. We filled them with all manner of waste and trash. When we were all tuckered out we had only scratched the surface. Then we called a consignment shop to remove the valuable furnishings which they did quite well. What was left behind was a basement full of junk, plus big old refridgerators, stoves, washing machine and dryer, debris and old furnishings that nobody wanted. That's when I finally woke up and called Mass Junk. They gave me a very reasonable quote and cleaned out the entire house in only 3 days. They left it swept and looking spic and span. I had tons of junk taking up my entire basement and under both my front and back porches. The task of trying to rid myself of all the clutter was overwhelming. I finally decided I needed help. I called Mass Junk and got an immediate response. The owner actually came by to estimate my problem that very day. I was given an estimate for removal that greatly undercut my expectations and other junk service companies that had also given me quotes. It seemed too good to be true. After agreeing on a day the work was to be done, I was amazed at how efficiently these guys made my junk problem dissapear. They did everything! We called Stephen on July 4th and received a call back from him the morning of July 5th and he was at our house on the afternoon of July 6th! We had placed several other calls to competitors, and Stephen not only was the first one out of the gate, I think his prices were probably better. I appreciated his promptness in getting back to me, and he was great the day of, as he called us in the morning to give us a rough idea of the time he'd be out, and then called us when he was 1/2 hour away. Stephen hauled away all of the little (and big) stuff that we needed to get rid of, and was very professional. I had a full truckload of really heavy trash from a kitchen renovation and basement cleanout that I needed to get out of my backyard. These guys quoted me $400--by far the cheapest quote for such a load. Even when they discovered that the trash had gotten wet and was much heavier than expected (some bags were over 200lbs), they stuck with their price. When I was writing the check, I asked "Is $400 still enough?" and Stephen said, "Yeah. I don't change prices on people." Honesty and dependability like this impossible to find elsewhere. These guys are GREAT. I called for an estimate on a Tuesday,they came out to give the estimate on the Wednesday. They were polite and very accommodating,the estimate was very reasonable. I had 2 of the nicest guys show up on the Friday,exactly when they said they would. They were funny and pleasant and took care of a very unpleasant job with lots of humor. After some remodeling in our basement, my husband and I were left with piles of scrap wood, old doors, debris, and even an old sink that was smashed to pieces. All I can say is, "WOW!" Stephen came by the same day I called to look at a basement full of old file cabinets, read full to the brim, file cabinets that were in my mom's basement. We scheduled a day the following week to come by and remove all these cabinets and an old desk and chair. I am truly impressed with this company! They gave me a quote that beat the other competitors and scheduled me for the date I wanted with the possibility the job would take two days since it was an extremely large job. Will and his team arrived early, worked tirelessly and stayed over 11 hours at my request to finish the job in one day. Couldn't say enough good things about this company. Not only did they offer a great price (1800junk wanted double), they were fast working, professional, and personable. Made this such a hassle and stress free experience. Took my large sofa down several flights of stairs from my 5th floor condo unit because it didn't fit in the elevator. They were great! I called for a quote and to make an appointment. I just had a large sofa to get rid of from a third floor walk-up. They gave me a quote but seemed apologetic about it because they had a minimum amount for making the trip but I thought it was totally reasonable. We made an appointment for the following day but they called back later the same day and said they could stop by then if it would work for me. Although Mass Junk's quote was slightly higher (and lower) than some of the other respondees, after speaking w/Stephen, I had a good feeling that he'd be right for the job and would have the right truck to remove the debris I needed removed from my back yard.
