I had an extremely concerning appointment with therapist Brandon W. this morning. During the pre-appointment consultation, I was asked what I wanted to focus on during the session. As I began identifying the muscles, tendons, and other problem areas that have been longstanding concerns, Brandon repeatedly interrupted me to correct the anatomical terms or locations I referenced. Rather than feeling like a collaborative discussion, the interaction quickly became combative. Each correction felt unnecessary, arrogant, and dismissive, creating what felt like a struggle for superiority instead of an effort to understand my concerns. The manner in which this was done was neither kind nor professional, and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable before the session had even begun. For more than two decades, I have worked with physicians, chiropractors, massage therapists, and other healthcare professionals who have educated me about my body and the anatomy related to my chronic problem areas. While I certainly understand that professionals may have different ways of describing anatomy, there was no need for the repeated corrections or the tone in which they were delivered. What should have been a therapeutic and welcoming experience instead left me feeling dismissed and disrespected. Unfortunately, it has also left a very negative impression of Massage Envy. read more

Soooo..... I expected my first visit to be good but it wasn't. The first desk lady was nice but..... my massage therapist was sick "allergies" as heck. Sneezing, coughing, blowing her nose during my massage. On top of that....taking a restroom break during my session. Arricka energy was not very welcoming. Also, I booked "firm, deep" massage and received rub down and light massage, and hella nose blowing. So I didn't get what I expected at all! & I took it with a grain of salt but I cannot get over the bad experience. 2/10 read more

I got a massage today at Massage Envy on Ella Blvd. Brandon was my massage therapist. He gave me a deep tissue massage and focused on my back & neck. He is an excellent massage therapist & he made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. I had so much stress and tension in my upper back. I have been a member at this location for about 5 years or longer I was a member at the Galleria location since I worked there for some time . I ask at 43rd street if I could please freeze my account as I am having some financial issues and was told no since it was over the due date . I understand that it was fault for not doing it sooner but I'm sure that could make some exception . But no they would rather lose a client who has been faithful for several years that make the one time expectation. The front desk has always been nice to me and I appreciate the kindness . Update 12/26/23: Been going to this location for 4 years. Prior to moving here I went to Massage Heights for 8 years. Staff turn over in front is frequent. They got new managers in the last year and since then they sure don't mind being rude when it's behind anonymous text. I even took them home baked holiday goodies. Apparently they don't value their customers since they don't seem to need the business at this moment yet they'll send 1,000 spam texts when it slows down. I'm in no rush to reactivate my account seeing that there is a massage heights and diff envy location down the street that gives availability without an interrogation. Btw- this info is readily available online or by phone call. I was not asking for special treatment. Previously, I have had no issue finding out via text. Also, another reviewer pointed out they do not provide oils or a spa like atmosphere - they do but there's an additional charge. Massage Heights provides your choice of essential oils to the massage oil free of charge. I've also never had a therapist who smelled like they were sweating marijuana standing over me for 90 min at Massage Heights. Super unprofessional. I got this message from my last review "Thanks for sharing your most recent experience with us. Please reach out to the franchised location's manager at (713) 686-3689 so they can address this further." The sad part is that at the time I left the review, the 20 year old manager was aware of what happened and I was not given my original appointment time or compensation for a waste of time. Original review circa 2021: I've been going to this location for 2 years and I'm not sure what has changed with the front staff over the last 3 months but making appointments, getting receipts and the staff communicating with each other has become increasingly difficult. Masseuse was not dressed professionally nor was Lilly trained as the other massage therapists I've ever experienced in 25 years. She also spoke very broken English. This rating is not based on my therapist. It's based on the fact the bed warmer wasn't and hasn't been functioning for my favorite therapist. It's cold in those rooms, the therapist work hard to provide good services but it's hard to enjoy your massage when you're cold. Also the chairs in the waiting area definitely need some new cushions and need to be reupholstered. Please take pride in your business and keep things in good order for your patrons who pay money for the whole experience. read more

When I called, they said all they had was a 90 minute massage for the day I wanted. Okay... Gayle doesn't communicate very well or take feed back on what you want. Exact same experience as a previous poster with her. Her touch was extremely light and all over the place. She never asked how the pressure was, so when I finally spoke up and asked for more, she acted offended the rest of the time and said she doesn't do deep tissue. I never asked for deep tissue, just some sort of pressure so it felt like I actually had a massage. What a waste of $150. read more

I'd really say 2.5. Partly my fault. I thought I read 60 min for $60. They tried to get me to join and when I declined - I had to pay $115! Hector was nice but not only did he move fast, but he ended early. Unfortunately- there was nothing about the massage that was worth $115 even though it was nice. I asked for specific areas to be addressed, they weren't - and the whole massage lasted maybe 40 min not the $60 I signed up for. read more

Luz is the absolute BEST massage therapist that I have tried at Massage Envy. She is the ONLY therapist that understands what a full body massage means, from top of the head, face, all the way down to toes. She gives a firm pressure massage but just the right amount without hurting you. She understands energy and is such a delight to be with. I met Luz a few years ago but she only works Mondays and Tuesdays. With my work schedule, I wasn't able to see her but now we have reconnected. I live about 8 miles from this location but she is definitely worth the short drive. read more

Hello, Tonight was my first massage at massage envy and I booked a 90-massage with Cynthia to focus on psoas and low back. I'm filling out the form, that wasn't listed as an option, so I told her that is what I needed and was very specific. I feel worse than when I walked in and she never touch my psoas. I don't think she even knew what It was. She also stretched me in a weird way and made my psoas and low back pain worse. I teach yoga so I have a good amount of knowledge about the body. If she didn't think that she could properly assist me, she should have spoken up. After the massage was over, she asked "do you at least feel a bit better?" I told her my psoas still hurt and she said, "OK I'll meet you outside with water." As a licensed massage therapist, I expect someone who is working on my body to understand what I'm asking for when I ask for my psoas to be worked on. I am very disappointed in the service I received. It was literally the worst massage I've ever had. I wasted money and am in so much pain. read more

I had a membership with Massage Envy in Las Colinas (Dallas area) years ago, but canceled it after moving to Houston bc the locations I was closest to- Galleria, then river oaks location- I could never get an appointment on a day/time I wanted bc they were always so crowded! So I would never go, and all my monthly massages just acquired, unused. Sad. We moved up near this location several years ago, and I had honestly forgotten it was there! After 2-3 years of paid membership and having never cancelled an appointment before I tried to cancel one day-of appointment with 8 hours notice for the first time ever (sick child) and was told I'd lose my credit for the month because it was less than 24-hours notice. Shoddy service like this drives people crazy. DO NOT spend money supporting this company. They do not care about their customers and way oversell sevices. As a customer of 15 years I'm done. Horrible experience, I went to my neighborhood Oak Forest location to transfer one of my ongoing 12 credits to a GC to give to someone (something of which I have done several times before). While there I noticed I had two GC certificates that had expired (mind you I spent several hounded additional dollars during promo to get them), I asked staff member if they could make an exception and honor them. She said she would have to ask the manger. After waiting several minutes with out seeing the manger, the assistant manager America intervened informing me the manager was on a conference call. I repeated my request and received a very automated NO. I asked her to please look at my account, being that I am a long term customer if 15 years could she please make an exception. Another automated NO (with rude tone now). So I reframed my question. What I'm hearing is your not willing to make an exception for a customer that has spent over 12,000 with you over the past 15 years, correct? Still rude NO, it's policy and what I'm told to tell customers. Me: I hear you and I'm asking for you to make an exception in appreciation of me being a long term customer. Assistant Manger: NO with what feels like now is the intent of blocking me from speaking with the manger. Me: I continue to reframe asking for exception in appreciation of me being a long term customer and now I'm getting really frustrated and irritated, not feel I'm even being heard... Assistant Manger: voice is getting louder as if the louder and more aggressive she was, I would stop literally begging to be honored as a valued customer who has spent over $12,000 over 15 years with a $100 activation... all while in the lobby in front of other customers. Me: Ok since your not going to honor appreciation with this small jester of appreciation I originally came in to transfer one of my ongoing 12 credits to a GC and can talk with your manger later (I am now exhausted from this experience in over it). MORE DEPLORABLE response, as assistant manger proceeds to tell me I can't do that either. ME: Yes it can be done, I have done it before several times at this location of which I've been coming to for 13 years. Assistant manger: In consistent tone of I'm the manger I'm right, it's my script and that's all that matters, proceeds to tell me NO again and that in her hole year of working there she has never done that, it can't be done and that I did not ever do that before at this store. * Now I'm being called a LIAR on top of complete disregard for what customer service is.... NO COMPASSION or even EMPATHY the CUSTOMER and their experience, UNACCEPTABLE! You are in the customer service industry, making small exceptions for long term customers who spend thousands of dollars with you is part of keeping long term customers! *It has now been several weeks, I never heard back from the manger either. *I am disgusted with the unprofessionalism and complete disregard for the customer, especially a long term customer of 15 years spending over $12,000! I have no desire to step foot back in the business or spend another dime with a company that cares so little for its customers. At this point the right thing for Massage Envy to do is credit me back my credit card for the 12 ongoing credits that I have due to overselling their services and end the contract. First of all, I want to say that my 5 stars are for my massage therapist, LUZ! She is the only reason I kept my membership after almost cancelling almost 2 years ago. I need a massage therapist to be able to give me enough pressure but with fluid strokes. There may be others that can give more pressure but Luz is my match. I was hurting so I recently went in for a massage. I called and they were able to book me for the same day. The massage itself was average but I was pleasantly surprised by all the safety measures they were taking: They limit the number of people inside the facility, so they have you call before you can enter. They have hand sanitizer, clean pens, and a person doing intake for check in. Part of the check in involves a health screening and temp check. Then they lead you into the back, but not before making handwashing a requirement. Once inside, they relax the mask requirement if laying facedown on the table. Gayle was my masseuse, and she's terrible at her job. When I asked for more pressure she stated she wasn't a deep tissue masseuse, she was more for relaxation, which she did not do. When it came time for the face massage, she hovered her fingers over my face, THE ENTIRE TIME!! I was beyond upset during the service to the point that I cried. I have had a membership off and on throughout the years. I have not had a bad experience until now. Firstly the office is exceptionally dirty- dusty and clearly never swept. The restrooms were very unsanitary as well. My therapist at this location apparently did not understand that a massage should be relaxing and therapeutic. She was very abrupt with no finesse and performed the massage as though she was in a rush and upset. She also finished the massage 10 minutes earlier than the 50 minutes even though she started late. When I finished my massage, the front desk asked me if I wanted a membership - mind you she checked me in and I had already informed her I would be using my membership credit. Booked a last minute massage for $120 and was pretty excited that this location was minutes from my house. When I get there the lady who was greeting was extremely helpful and friendly. I knew going in I wanted an add on for $10 extra to get bio freeze, so I added that. When I go to the back for my appointment I was told to undress to get on massage table which is normal. The problem is I get on the table and had to wait an odd amount of time. It felt like close to 10 minutes. The masseuse was friendly but was definitely either tired or ready to get my appointment over because she used her elbow the whole time. Very rushed and took little to no care. The craziest part is that when the massage was ending with 5 minutes left she asked me to watch her do stretches to show me what to do at home. So my final 5 minutes of a 50 minute massage were used by me watching her do stretches against a wall. When i asked if she did my add on because i can in with back pain, she said no that she either didn't read it or they didn't tell her. Super disappointing. I expressed my issues to the front desk lady who dismissed them and let me check out. Won't be back. read more

Sometimes the daily stresses get to you, and you need a little escape. There is no better way, in my opinion, than a nice relaxing massage. I've only a couple before, because I'm VERY uncomfortable about my body. To be honest, I could stand to lose a pound or fifty. With that being said, I was nervous at first upon walking in because the guy and girl behind the front desk were both good looking. But I quickly realized that my fears were unfounded, they were extremely polite and as professional as you can get. This was my first time at massage envy, so I didn't have first hand experience on what to expect. The lobby was dimly lit, and the environment was soft and neutral. Very relaxing. I filled out my paperwork, had my pre-interview, and was escorted back to the therapy room. The quality of the massage, and the professionalism, were outstanding. At no time did I feel uncomfortable once I got over my (own) initial fears. I did indeed sign-up for their massage club. I just couldn't beat it, and it felt so fantastic, I figured I would treat myself occasionally. read more

I was in dire need of getting a neck massage after being in a car accident and experiencing the after effects of whiplash! Thank goodness this place is open till 8PM on Sundays! I was able to get squeezed in at 7PM with Steve. The receptionists (David and Leslie?) were great! Had a great sense of humor, very customer service oriented and happy people. The interior is actually really nice, I was very impressed and liked it more than the westheimer location. Anyways onto Steve. He's a great therapist who listens to your needs and makes sure youre comfortable. With him being a male therapist, he was very professional and I didn't feel awkward at all. He's had 5 years of experience and his pressure was amazing! He gave me a full body massage with more focus in my neck and shoulder area. He even gave me a hair, head, face massage! I've never gotten that before but it felt different and relaxing. Only downside I must say is that the room was a bit hot in there, Im not sure if the AC was on because there was a tiny fan in there or if the bed was heated too warm. Overall the massage experience was wonderful. Now Im torn with Steve and my other therapist at the westheimer location! I may have to visit them every other time! :) read more

Place has questionable office help. How can it trust that the therapists actually know what they are doing if the receptionist can't even answer the phone properly? When I called back (I had to use a different number because it was busy, how is a business line busy?), same girl answers and when I ask about the wait she say, "are you going to want a massage?" Not with that attitude I'm not. So guess what she does? Puts me on hold again. So I can talk to a manager. After 2 minutes, I hung up. That's okay, I'll talk to Yelp and Facebook. Ashley, you suck .
