After traveling over night to Asheville, through 2 airports I saw Francine and I was amazed at her massage techniques. I literally felt like a new person when I left. She listens, advised me on things to do and really was amazing. I will definitely book with her again . Worst massage ever. We get massages all the time on vacation, and have visited every other massage place in town -- and they are all pretty good, from Sensibilities to Shoji to Hand and Stone. This place (Massage Envy) is a very corporate massage place that advertises heavily on local radio. I wasn't expecting top of the line. But I also wasn't expecting a disaster. It was a disaster. Everything about this place is clearly about minimizing expense and maximizing revenue. The padding on the tables compares unfavorably to resting on a block of wood. Both myself and my partner exited with back aches simply because of the uncomfortable tables. The massage therapists for both of us were clearly inexperienced. Slathering on a bunch of lotion is not a massage! My therapist -- advertised as a firm pressure therapist -- did this weird poky thing as well as pinching my skin. After many massages in my life, I'm pretty sure that's not how it works. And it didn't feel relaxing or therapeutic either. It wasn't painful so I suppose that's a win. My partner's therapist slathered on lotion and not much else. She ignored my partner's request about lower back focus, and her version of a neck massage was to request that my partner raise her head and "let all the weight fall into my hands". Um. Also sure that's not how it works. We both laughed afterwards, confessing to each other that it was the worst massage ever and that we were both thinking "get me outta here!" the entire time. Do not recommend. Avoid at all costs. Would give zero stars if possible. Can't believe we paid for that. Ugh! read more

Worst massage was a woman named Sarah wiping lotion on me and telling me the pain was all in my head, and talking about her dog being hurt and cracking a fake egg on my head for spiritual awakening. I've called and gotten the boop boop beep thing where the front desk is being passive aggressive. If I could give them zero stars I would! First, last time was in worst massage ever and system had this therapist been with me before which I swear she hadn't!! But gave them another chance only because facial was good. Second time in, there was some stupid glitch in the system that said I had covid symptoms. I work from home and other than taking dogs out to use bathroom or going to the grocery store, I stay in and safe. It's insane a computer can label you with Covid! Worst part is my husband just broke his foot so I've been taking care of him and I really needed this! Cancelling my 3 year membership! Okay... so I have mixed emotions about this visit. So here's the deal... I booked an appointment at this location for the first time, but not my first experience with this Company. In fact, my last experience with this Company was in San Jose, and was so bad that they gave me a free 90 minute massage to use at any of their locations. So I thought "okay, let's give this Company another shot." So I actually got my tired and sore butt out of bed on a Saturday morning at 6:30 to make my 7:45 am appointment. But apparently my massage therapists Cory was out drinking too late the night before, because he did not. So they basically told me that I had one of two options, since they couldn't get ahold of Cory... they could either reschedule my appointment, or give me an hour massage with another massage therapist who was unable to use essential oils due to pregnancy. Since I was already there and thus lost my opportunity to sleep in on a Saturday morning, I went ahead and opted for the hour long message, even though it's not what I scheduled or what I wanted. I have mixed feelings because this was the opportunity for this company to redeem themselves, and they yet again dropped the ball. Yet somehow, they managed to talk me into a yearlong contract where I will continue getting a massage from them once a month. Lol. Reason being is because I do get massages once a month, and the pricing for being a member was actually fairly reasonable. Also, even though she wasn't able to use essential oils, the masseuse they assigned me in place is Cory actually did a surprisingly good job. I also appreciated them accommodating me with a massage of some sort, opposed to insisting on a rebooking. They also discounted my massage further, even though it was already being covered on a credit, for my inconvenience. So they more than made up for everything that went wrong. I love a good massage. My boyfriend and I have a membership here, and it is super inexpensive, and very easy to book appointments thru their app. We go at least every 2 weeks, sometimes at different times, but sometimes they do them together in one of the 2 couples rooms. You can pick the level of pressure you like and what time is good for you and the App matches you up to a list of massage techs that work for your search criteria. Every one of the female (we have not had any males yet) masseuses we have had have been very friendly and overly accommodating. If you have a membership and you can't go, you can gift your free massage that month to someone else. They make it so super easy. No hassles, and they really make you feel you are getting your moneys worth. We love it. read more

From the beginning I should have known, massage room smelled like old rancid oil. She asked where I wanted work on although I filled out the entire questionnaire. Guess she never looked and when she asked I explained again. The massage oil was rancid she put it on and proceeded to massage she was giving me a Swedish massage and She say's I don't do deep tissue. It all was terrible she was terrible didn't know anything completely missed all the knots. She quit after 20 minutes. Checking out they wanted me to pay the whole 50minute price. No and front desk tells me we (they) have to pay the masseuse what!? I put down 50 cash and walked out. Absolutely the worst and dirty place I've been for a massage. read more

Was excited to be visiting the Asheville area with my wife, decided to do a couple massage. Arrived to meet a very sweet petite massage lady that we had paid for an hour and a half (90 minutes) only to have her rub oil on me after about 35 minutes trying to explain to her that's not what I thought I massage was I decided to just leave. The only thing I got was my feet coated in oil for 30 minutes. The lady at the front counter was very nice and I explained how disappointed I was nobody offered to give me a half hours massage time or even an hour they billed me for the full 90 minute massage I mistakenly even left a tip for the girl which was on my part a very big mistake. I was contacted by Austin massage Envy's customer care representative asking if I wish to have a massage reschedule. I explained I don't live in the area and nothing else was offered he asked what Massage envy could do to make it better? BUYER BEWARE!! I have been a massage envy client for about 11 years. If you are considering a membership with this company (all massage envy locations) there are a few things you need to know. 1-your 1 hour session will be for only 50 minutes. 2- if you do monthly auto draft and your bank card gets shut down due to reissuance, theft, fraud or otherwise, your massage envy account will be closed and they will not give you any massages until they get a new card number. This means if you have two or three massages banked, they will not allow you to use them. You have just lost what you paid for unless you give a new card number on the spot. 3-they have a 24 hour cancellation. If you get sick, or have an emergency in less than 24 hours, they will charge you for 30 minutes of time/money on your account. 4-if they cancel your appointment on short notice, they don't care. They won't even attempt to compensate you in any capacity. Your time means nothing to them. This company has been sued before for this, and then they put it in the fine print of their contracts... Sketchy, dirty, and non-customer service oriented. They should be ashamed. My advice - go someplace else read more

terrible business. multiple appointments canceled at the last minute. you're lucky if you can get an appointment despite having a membership. great variability in therapists. several times I've have booked a 'deep tissue' massage to have the therapist tell me 'I don't do deep tissue.' after almost a year of trying to make it work, I give up. I am giving a 1 star because this is the fifth time that I--a longstanding member of massage envy--have not been able to get in to see them for several days when I am in pain from an injury. To be fair, when I get to see someone, the massages are of standard massage envy quality, which means better than a bad massage but certainly not a good one. You tell these therapists, go 'full', 'as much pressure as you can', 'hurt me'. None of it matters, they all give you weak massages. I've had everything from grassfingers to a Thai man standing on my back so I know what the middle range of 'firm' actually is. I also know a 110 lb female can put you in agony if she has the skill, because I know of one such person in Denver who is very talented! The people greeting are all very professional and helpful. The place is as clean and soft and comforting as one expects of a Massage Envy franchise. It even has two rooms to wait in, one dimmer and quieter than the other--this is very nice. So the 1 star is for scheduling. They are constantly over-capacity or under-staffed and need to make a new one, or get more part-time therapists or extend their hours or something. Whatever they are doing is bad and they are wrong for doing it. I am from Denver where massage is a much more accepted thing for both males and females than the less enlightened southern culture. When i went to those, I routinely would sit with about 5 other people and we all got in to see someone. I believe this Hendersonville one is poorly managed because they aren't churning out clients in the way that they should be. Management, scheduling: 1 star. Needs improvement! read more

I called and made a same day appointment for my first time at this location! That was impossible at the Anchorage, AK branch. The woman I booked my appointment with was friendly and when I arrived I was greeted within in 10 seconds of walking in. I like the giant tvs playing footage from an aquarium in the lobby. I was offered water BEFORE my appointment started, at other locations it's only after. They didn't make a big deal about the paperwork you have to fill out before your session at any new location like I have experienced in HI. I really liked that, it only takes 1-2 minutes to fill out (AND I've had surgeries). OK, so onto the massage!!! It was with Beverly. She was very inviting and warm. I had a membership with them since 2014 and very much enjoyed my 90 minute monthly massage. My therapist did a great job and got to know each other over the years. I scheduled my appointments 6 months in advance so there was no issues in getting an appointment with her. She had planned a vacation several months ago and I wasn't aware that my December appointment was during this time she was going to be on vacation until after my appointment in November. I received a call advising me of the conflict with my appointment and was told that I could see another therapist or cancel my December appointment. I advised them that I would call back and let them know. I received an email cancelling my December appointment from them. Ok, so I thought, I made this appointment back in June, they knew the therapist was on vacation in August or September due to us talking about it during my massage, not one time did they advise me of the scheduling conflict during these months. I even scheduled my January through June appointments after my last massage on November 7th and nothing was said about the conflict with my December appointment. I cancelled my membership or at least thought I did until I received a call from one of the employees asking me if I wanted to schedule an appointment in place of someone that cancelled. So they booked the therapist full even knowing months in advance of her vacation instead of rescheduling appointments that were booked way in advance and no consideration of members that had been going there for years. The employee that I talked to advised me that she would go ahead an approve my cancellation when I already stopped at the location, gave them a written letter as to why I was cancelling and asked if I needed to do anything else. I was told to call a number to speak with a representative. I called and left a message but didn't hear back from anyone until today. The person got upset with me because I guess I didn't want to reschedule my appointment that I made 6 months earlier. I thought I had already cancelled my membership, and I guess if I wanted it I was expected to be grateful that I was the first one called to fill a cancelled appointment on a Friday morning when I will be working. This was a scheduling issue and the treatment from this so called professional was even more of a reason to not want to pay them another penny. I only hate that I will miss my therapist!! read more

Many people find massage because they are in pain. Massage though is not reactive. Massage is proactive. The purpose of coming to a Massage Envy is to have a membership and to use the membership every month or more. In other words massage becomes part of your life - proactive. You don't wait until you are in pain or cannot move a muscle to go to ME. For they are very busy and may not have an appointment readily available. Instead you make an appointment for your next massage after your massage. As you make these regular monthly visits you will notice that your body / muscles are less tense and that you do feel better. ME has pleasant front staff and therapist. Many of the therapists work for ME and for other local chiropractors or salons. So they have a wide variety of experience. If you go to ME, try several therapists before settling on one person. Each therapists has his or her own technique. However keep in mind that it is good to have s favorite therapist; for as you develop a relationship the therapist learns your body and will provide more effective massages. Some people seem to think a massage is about "digging in" to those sore spots. Wrong. If a therapist does that your body will resist and you will be more sore A good therapist knows the muscular system. Therefore he / she knows that when you say you should is all tight that you might need some work done on your mid lower back. In other words as good therapist knows how to get yo the source Sometimes you do go for some specific work and other time a nice relaxing massage to end the work week. Although a 60 mins, technically 50 minutes of massage is good. I often find that is best focused on upper body. If I am wanting a really good full body massage then I do a 90 minute, 80 minutes of massage. I might go two months of 1 hour and then third month of 90 minutes and so on. Of course you can upgrade to 90 mins every month if you like. Keep in mind your membership is to ME. The therapists do get paid. However this is a profession that does rely on gratuity. I've been getting massages for almost 10 years now and feel that I get good value for the price. I've been to dome salons and walked away feeling like it was over priced for what I got. read more

Don't waste your time here. They don't have enough therapists to get you in but will sell you a "membership" anyways. It's a money scam. Also overheard one of the gentleman from the office talking about how he terminated someone's membership because they were upset with him on the phone. Said he terminated their membership immediately and took everything they'd already paid for off their account. Very shocking, and horrible customer service. They will also cancel on you last minute as in the day of or the day before and not be able to reschedule you until a month later, with no apologies. And if you do have to cancel same day for an emergency, they'll charge your card or take sessions you've already paid for off of your account. They only care about getting your money, but they can barely get people in. I repeat, do not go here. There's plenty better places in Asheville. This review goes for the Merrimon Ave. location as well. They're just as awful, had horrible experience there as well. read more

Each massage therapist works there hardest to work out my knots in my shoulder even though my pressure is light! I use to go everyday with pain and now I can go a month without any pain! Booked a massage for my wife, very unapologetic receptionist calls her a couple hours before the appointment, to cancel due to lack of staff at the time the appointment was scheduled for. For a new customer, I must say, first impression leaves me very underwhelmed. 1 star for lack of professionalism at the front desk. I know things happen and people have to cancel, just make sure your client feels that you're really concerned about helping them make another appointment, and getting them back in ASAP. read more

My wife gave me a 6-month membership at Massage Envy in Charlotte for my birthday about 7 years ago. Didn't really think I would like it but I was hooked from the beginning. I liked it so much I renewed it and started going every two weeks. Now if I could afford it, I would go once a week. Occasionally I will splurge and go do that several weeks in a row. Once I decided to try 90 minutes rather than the standard one hour. It was so much better and that's what I do now. I like to find one therapist that I like and use them every time. They learn what I like and the massages continue to improve as time goes by. Over the years I have had to find a new therapist due to moving. It usually doesn't take me long to find a new one that I really like. I have been to high end spas such as the one at Biltmore House, Old Edwards Inn, and Westglow Spa. But I thing my current therapist and some of the other ones I've used continuously at Massage Envy are just as good and many times even better than those more expensive places. Another think I like about Massage Envy is that when my wife and I travel, we enjoy the fact that there is usually a Massage Envy near the hotels we have stayed in. read more

I joined at this Massage Envy location back in 2017 when I was living in Asheville NC. Since then I have moved from NC to AZ. I have tried multiple times to change my home location to the current city I live in but have been unsuccessful. I have called this location many times and filled out multiple forms but it has never gone through. Now, I'm trying to cancel my membership and I'm having the same issue. I filled out the closure form at my current Massage Envy location so that they could submit the closure paperwork for me since I have had no luck getting the folks in Asheville to do it. My thought was this is a corporate business so surely they could submit it for me but NOPE that's not the case. When the form was submitted the Asheville location told them they outsource the closures to a third party. However, this won't work because the email address that was provided is not valid. This place is a scam, the massages are just OK and it is impossible to cancel. I would not ever join it is a hassle. read more

This is the BEST Massage Envy location I have been to, and I have been to many! I've been a Massage Envy member since 2008 and have visited at least 7 different locations in three different cities across the country. All of the locations were more than acceptable to me, but I have never experienced such a CONSISTENTLY high level of excellence and expertise as I have at this location. EVERYONE from the front desk staff to the therapists are exceptionally talented at what they do. I have never had a mediocre massage here, they have all been FANTASTIC!! I would like to say that I have been a monthly member for several years and have had excellent massage therapists and service. But, I do want to report that as I have been trying to cancel my monthly membership due to finances at this time and it is almost impossible to do. It's been days since I have tried to reach the "special" person (not in the office, but offsite) to cancel membership before money is taken out again. I have left several messages, and called multiple times with no answer. When I call the regular desk, they say the person isn't in that day (it's a week day) or they were only in that morning (now afternoon) or they don't know their schedule, or they will be in tomorrow (called, left messages - no answer). This is getting very frustrating! I might say its just a glitch this time, but my husband had this same problem a couple of years ago. I was hoping to join back up when I could in the future, but don't know that I want to go thru this again if I have too. It has really spoiled my positive thoughts about them up to now. So, just beware of how hard it is to cancel your membership once you sign up. read more

My Therapist was nice and did well however the attempt to upsale me turned me off for good. First my therapist said a specific lotion would work we for my muscle and then added for $12 more. Seriously? Most quality spas let you choose what they use to massage you which should be included in the price of the massage. Then AFTER my relaxing massage I was asked to buy into a monthly contract. I worked sales for years and the lingo was high pressure and after my third NO and a strong glare, the front desk girl stopped asking me. I just completely became stressed after my massage. Envy? This whole Massage Envy membership is a rip off,. It took me 3 months after I joined to finally get to use my massage, due to they were always booked and couldn't get me in. Finally I get to use one of my massages and I book 3 weeks out for my daughter's birthday, which she was so excited for, and they call me one week before her birthday to inform me that they deceided to change their policy on minors and she would be unable to get her massage. How thoughtful of them to ruin her birthday surprise. I feel they should have been obligated to take care of her massage since it was booked before the policy change. Go elsewhere, there are plenty of great massage therapist who have availability for the same price as the monthly membership. Huge disappointment. read more

I was charged $55 for services I didn't receive due to an error Massage Envy made. Their Customer Service has yet to get back to me to make it right. On Friday, September 6, my credit card was charged $55 from Massage Envy. I was at work all day and did not receive any services from Massage Envy. I called on my lunch break to the Massage Envy location. The lady told me I would have to call a different phone number regarding my issue. I called the number she provided and left a message. The next day my sister received a phone call from Massage Envy. They left her a voicemail message. My sister told me when she got the message. I called back right away. I had to leave another message. Three days passed with no response. On Tuesday, I called the number again to leave another message. I also did a form to contact Massage Envy about my issue via their website. That evening it occurred to me what happened. I called the Massage Envy location where I get my massages to verify my ****** **** was still on file. When I was in for my last massage, I requested they can it to my **** card. The lady who took my card that day put my **** card number on someone else's account. I repeat, she put my card on someone else's account so I'm being charged for someone else's massages! I explained to the Massage Envy rep that this is the current situation: I updated my card info with another one of her reps but it was entered into someone else's membership account. She said she would make a note to send to them, but the customer team would not be back in until Friday evening. Because of the lack of contact regarding whether they could correct the situation they created I had to call my **** card company to close that card so that no further transactions could be charged to me. I followed up with a another email via the online form. Six phone calls and three emailed correspondences and the only response I received was an email letting me know how to cancel my membership. I replied back to the email and have yet to hear from anyone. My **** card company told me I had to go through Massage Envy to get the refund. They're still not contacting me to even acknowledge an error. After arbitrating through a 3rd party and being let out of my membership, they've gone and charged me again. I'm going to have to totally close my **** card because I can't trust Massage Envy to honor our end-of-contract! Stay far away from this incompetence! read more
