I woke up two days ago and could hardly walk. I had a 90 minute massage with Erik who found every knot and helped me tremendously. Michelle, the manager, welcomed me in. The quiet, the lighting, the aroma therapy and the music hit me immediately. The place is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. I used to go to another Massage Envy in LaGrange and the two experiences cannot be more different. I was able to get a deep massage when I needed one, not two months out. I have been a loyal Massage Envy customer for over a decade, seeing the same massage therapist at the same time every month. I even schedule my appointments six months in advance, so there is absolutely no excuse for scheduling mistakes. Yet, over the past year, the customer service at this location has completely deteriorated. They have canceled my appointments at the last minute, failed to put them in the system, and scheduled things incorrectly--despite my careful planning. Most recently, my partner and I scheduled couples' massages, arranged childcare only to be learn they had completely messed up our appointments. Their only solution? That I could just see another therapist, not the therapist I have been loyally seeing for almost 10 years. When we asked for an apology, the manager, Michelle, literally laughed at us and mockingly said, "Yeahhh I am sooo sorrry." The lack of professionalism was shocking. Not only did they refuse to take accountability, but they also refused to offer any resolution beyond forcing us into an appointment we didn't schedule or want. To make matters worse, they are now refusing to refund the six service credits my partner and I each have left (12 in total), saying we have 60 days to use them or lose them. Given their history of last-minute cancellations and scheduling failures, this policy is completely unfair. Massage Envy used to be a well-run business, but at this point, they clearly do not value their customers. I would strongly advise against signing up for a membership here unless you enjoy frustration, unprofessionalism, and wasted money. read more

I have cancelled my membership because the manager (Michelle) at this location is horrendous. The customer service staff at the front desk are completely unknowledgeable and whenever I request why I wasn't provided an email confirmation their excuse is always that is out of their control, they have nothing to do with it. 9 out of 10 appointments I make are cancelled by Massage Envy because the therapist I'm scheduled with is now "out for a family emergency." When this happened once and I rescheduled with the same therapist I asked about their family emergency and they said they had been on vacation. Because of the high number of last minute cancellations, I asked if they have backup therapists to schedule since it's an inconvenience to plan my schedule around an appointment, only to have it cancelled. The manager, Michelle, said there is nothing they can do. They are very inflexible and do not know how to treat their patrons. read more

I have never felt more violated in my life before experiencing what I was put through. Be warned that if something should happen to you during your time spent here, your safety is not of any concern to management (her name is Nancy) and she will deny everything to safe face, if they don't just dismiss you completely. I am mortified and feel so unbelievably small right now. Please, please learn from my mistake and spare yourself. Turn around. Cancel that appointment you have. Ask those questions that you may have to a more reputable business than Massage Envy. I get a massage twice a week ---not at M.E. and every time I try to give M.E. a chance they remind me why they are terrible: deception and a lack of professionalism. Tried to book a massage online with thie location today and oddly enough their site does not let you book two hour massages, you have to call: annoying. Also, I wanted the firmest/deepest tissue massage and according to the site only Gregg and Cam provide that at this location. When I called tonight on 3/17 at 8:15 pm the woman who answered the phone told me that I could have Josh as a therapist and I told her that the site said he doesn't do the deepest massage. She said the site was wrong and smarted off and told me she doesn't control the site. Uh, I dindn't think so. Why smart off like that? Secondly I had a bad experience in Dallas with M.E. when I trusted the site and the person I was stuck with basically massaged me with feather touch. Was a waste of money. Why should I NOT trust the Massage Envy site? Why are they hiring people who say their own site is wrong???? What???? Then she tells me it's $200 for the massage, not $140 like the site says. The site is intro pricing. OK, cool. So, then put the regular pricing on there too and don't hide. Deception. Never again and this is why this comany is suffering. read more

The massage itself was only ok & the reception was VERY persistent, with new options every time I said no to membership/punchcard/etc. They set me home with Regina who was supposed to be medium pressure but was more like light. My massage was good, Jude the therapist was very nice and friendly. The environment is okay, I've seen better. Where they are seriously lacking is customer service at the front desk. I called to make an appointment, they were nice enough over the phone. However, I had never been there before and told them that so wouldn't it have made sense to let me know that they have a parking lot above the facility and they validate?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I ended up being 20 minutes late which meant the 60 minute massage I paid for was really more like 30 minutes when all was said and done. I called to let them know I was running late as I was driving around, looking for parking. As I was checking out, the guy at the desk asked if I needed my parking validated. Seriously?!?! You offer parking and never thought to mention this at any point in any of the calls?!?!?!?! I even said, I really wish someone would have told me that since that was the reason I was running late and he had the nerve to say "well now you know for next time, hope to see you soon" Top that off with the paperwork I had to fill out when I got there, the manager couldn't even bother to look up at me as she handed it to me. I had pretty bad back pain and decided to schedule an appointment a while back, seeing if they took walk ins. They told me they usually don't, but they have a 90 minute session open for the night. That was nice of them to squeeze me in. I got the massage and the therapist was nice. I want to say my back didn't really feel any better, but that was no fault of the therapist. It was relaxing but apparently deep tissues still ruin my lower back. My only two gripes were: - Head pillow smelled like sweat. I asked the therapist if she could change it, which she did, but the smell was still there. Apparently it soaked into the foam. - The upsell tactics. I get it, that's part of the job, like something at xsport. But they tried everything in the book to get me to sign up for a membership, another 90 min massage in the same week, etc. When I said I don't want to do anything, I was told they'll just schedule an appointment for me and I can cancel anytime. I said I was not agreeing to anything at all and will not sign anything... so they stopped being nice. They had more tactics than a car salesman (I know because I was one in a past career). I was only upset because that upsell time made me late for my parking validation, and I had to pay for my lot. It's okay. The location there at Chicago Lincoln Park Clybourn is my primary location where my ME membership resides. I never recall receiving anything less than excellent care and service there and I have been a regular ME member now for going on 6 years. The only reason I no longer come to this location is simply because my two favorite Therapists there (Lois and Kiana who were both outstanding!) are no longer there. I love coming here! This is my main massage envy location. They are clean, friendly, and never crowded or loud. The experience is always 10/10 and so relaxing. I highly recommend Cindy as your masseuse. She's one of the best I've ever had. I believe she's one of the master masseuse's. Called today at 10:30-10:45 AM to let them know I wasn't feeling well (woke up with a stuffy nose & sore throat) & I couldn't get a covid test before my facial at 5pm tonight so I thought the right thing to do is cancel to ensure I don't get anyone sick. The lady who answered was like well we have to charge you, you should of told us 24 hrs in advance (very rudely). I told her well I was feeling fine yesterday it just started today so as a precaution I think its best I don't come in. She continued with such sass to say well I still have to charge you, so I responded if I don't cancel and come in sick then what? She said well I can't come since I have covid like symptoms?! How does this make any sense, I get a cancelation policy for other reasons, plus I come to this location all the time and am a member. She was just so rude and unpleasant. A couple of friends and I came to check out Massage Envy to use a 30-minute massage coupon that we received. Even though the front desk really tries hard to have you sign up for their membership, just be adamant in that you want to check out their services and that you'll be willing to look into joining at a later time! Just note that if you do sign-up, you can frequent any of the Massage Envy locations. You fill out a questionnaire form and wait for your assigned masseuse to become available. The 30-minute massage is actually a total of 20 minutes, as they minus the 10 minutes in allowing you to change your clothes. I was a little disappointed, because I am not sure if anyone takes that long to change! My masseuse was Marie Antoinette, and I specifically requested a deep-tissue massage. Her pressure and techniques were great, as they were quite deep! I also enjoyed the scent of the massage oil, as it was actually pretty pleasant. Gratuity is not required, but of course, always nice to do, especially if you enjoyed your session. I've been to this location a number of times, and having had a number of different masseuses over the years, I have to say Erwin is by far one the of the best. He helps alleviate pain in specific areas (he always asks prior to our session what's bothering me), or is just a great all-around person to go to for a massage. I've had a few bumps with the front desk staff (scheduling me on the wrong day for my birthday massage "Yes, I'm sure it's the wrong day...") but I have to say they've always rectified any issue and are general helpful and courteous. This might be the best massage I've ever had. The facility is beautiful and clean. I was allowed to sit in the members-only lounge because no other members were there, and it was cozy and the TV was playing the fireplace channel. That is not a joke. It was hilarious and soothing at the same time. The massage table had an electric blanket under the linens, so I was toasty from the moment I laid down. My masseuse had asked me questions about what my expectations were before we got down to it, and then she DIDN'T TALK AT ALL during the entire massage, which was FANTASTIC. I hate being yapped at while I'm trying to relax. She really dug deep into all the muscles, and she manipulated my joints, and at the end of the 2 hours (yes, 2 hours, thanks for a free 30 minute upgrade for checking in!), I felt FANTASTIC. Two reasons I do not give this place five stars: 1) my masseuse came back into the room as I was finishing getting myself together to go back out into the world. She gave me a cup of water, which I appreciated, and then started changing the linens on the massage table while I was still in the room. I thought that was really inappropriate since it appeared to be very slow, and I was almost ready to leave. 2) The front desk staff were super-nice, but I definitely felt the hard sell to sign up for a membership. Finally they told me I had 3 days to cancel with no obligation, so I agreed. However, I did cancel the following day after discussing the cost-benefit ratio with my husband. I was lucky enough to have just made an appointment and as the luck of the draw would have, I found Natanya. Natanya was a life saver. I've had tons of massages some of them at supposed high end hotels know for their massages as well...they didn't compare to the work of Natanya. I just finished a 100 mile century yesterday and was a bit tense and sore from the riding position. I explained this to her and told her the areas it was really bad and she went to work . It was honestly one of the best massages I've ever had. The location is nice and clean and they have this cool little seating area before your massage begins. Registered a membership onsite 3 weeks ago, was told I would get email confirmation but that never came, and I'm still unable to register online. Raised this issue when I visited them last week, was told they would look into it, but I still have not received any follow up. Emailed couple of days ago, no response. Called today, here is what I hear... "We are franchise, out of our control what the corporate can or cannot do" ?! Tried requesting appointment online 4 days ago, no one called to follow thru. Just called, they said there was no request came from me. ????!!!!! In today's ecommerce world, I find it hard to believe their technology for customer relationship management is subpar, it's even troubling to experience poor customer service from this location. I purchased a facial for my mom and included the tip on the order as the staff suggested. The front staff was really friendly. However, my mom was not pleased. When she arrived they tried to charge her more money and pressed her for an additional tip even though she told them the tip had been included on the gift cert. Additionally, the woman doing her facial said she forgot to bring in her tools that day so my mother was given a sub par facial. I'll never personally come here or send anyone else here. I made an appointment same-day and was able to get right in. My masseuse was Diana. She was very good and asked me a lot of questions before our session to help customize the massage. She worked for the whole time and didn't talk (my only two rules for a massage!) and it felt great. My only qualm is the walls are thin, so you can hear traffic and discussion in the hall. Found another wonderful massage therapist here today. Ali just gave me the BEST massage I have ever had in my LIFE. It was great. I received the deep tissue massage ...and wow...many hours later...I feel WONDERFUL. I did my workout beforehand and then went in to get my massage. One thing I did notice after the massage(and not the fault of the therapist) ...I broke out in a rash afterwards. I didn't notice until after I left. I am pretty sure the lotion and biofreeze reacted with selftanner I had put on a few hours before my appt. I know it's not the lotions at the massage place because I've had those lotions and biofreeze before and nothing happened. The only difference was I had put on self tanner after showering and before leaving my house without thinking, and I am pretty sure biofreeze should not go on top of self tanner. Lesson learned! I'm still a member here and generally still enjoy my monthly massages. I have docked them a star since my original 5 star rating a year and half ago. This is solely because the massage therpist I had gone to every month left the business and since then I have gotten massages from multiple different therapists - some good and some not at all. I had one therapist who seemed to ignore my request for no deep pressure and my shoulders ended up being sore the next day. I thought I finally found a new therapist but the next month I found out she had left too. I know this is not Massage Envy's fault, but it would be great if they could recommend someone similar. I think I have finally found a new therapist thanks to a recommendation from a friend who also goes here. Still a great value, and I look forward to my monthly visits while I still live nearby. read more

This place is very inviting and classy as far as looks go. I have been a member for almost a year. The therapist are always very good at what they do. Three stars because the front desk staff is always a little pushy about signing up my guests when I bring someone with me. I don't like that. If I am bringing someone with me it is because I want them to have a nice relaxing massage, not a sales pitch. Also it is hard to get a same day appt for members-- I think they keep slots open for new customers, though. I walked into Massage Envy for the first time in January and became a loyal member. If it was just for the massages, I would give 5 stars. Brenda is absolutely amazing, and helps treat my migraines through cranial sacral techniques. She listens to my areas for helps and customizes her massage based on my needs. She has been effective at reducing my migraines, and making me feel better in general. I tried the facial and I wasn't impressed. I would give that aspect a two. Maybe it was the wrong girl, but the products didn't smell nice, nor was the the facial relaxing. My face didn't leave feeling amazing, which I've come to experience at other spas. I have visited a lot of massage places and additionally a few Massage Envy locations in several states- this place is always great and the staff are experienced (unlike one location that seemed to only staff students or inexperienced therapists) and I love coming here. Plus free parking upstairs if you validate after your massage. If you'd like to go to Trader Joes after, it's a great location. I love coming here, the staff are fantastic and the soothing member's lounge is really comfy as you wait for your massage. If not for the amazing massage tailored by the heaven sent masseuse Cindy, I'd be rating this Massage Envy 4 stars. She rocks my week and makes my pregnancy all the more enjoyable. During our sessions, Cindy manages to target all my pained stretching ligaments and ever growing mommy parts that wreak havoc on my ever expanding body. From my throbbing legs to my stiff pelvis (oh yea), all the way to my knotted upper back and weary head, she does it all. I want to spend hours with this angel of a women. Not to mention Cindy is the biggest sweetheart. She is always a comfort to chat with if you so desire. I can't say enough to convey the bliss. Otherwise, the front desk service is mediocre as other reviews have mentioned. I haven't been party to the rudeness. Yes its pretty inside and the music is soft and calming, but as Joe S. said, it is all about the masseuse. Mine tonight was Rene', and wow is all I can say. She first asked about how my injured discs were today, and in the past week or so had I noticed any numbness or pain. I mentioned that I do sit 85% of my day, so back stresses are there. She proceeded to apply pressure, asking several times whether it was enough or too much, worked on my shoulders, lower back, hips and neck. I walked out of there pain free and feeling two inches taller. This matters when you're 5'4". Her treatment of my neck and face relieved my sinus pressure (horrible allergies) and showed me a technique to use when they are bothering me. She is absolutely amazing!!! Went here for a massage the other night. I got a last minute appointment and they're open late which is convenient for those of us who have work lives. The massage itself was good. Nothing too special but not traumatic. There wasn't much consultation after the massage was over. I sometimes like to know which areas had the most tension so I can target those areas on my own at home. The only big issue I had was when I first entered the spa. There were like 5 employees standing around and chatting at the desk. This makes it hard to relax when they are chatting about their personal lives. Also, it's intimidating for a customer to turn in their "confidential" paperwork containing medical history to a fairly large group of people who appear to be more chummy than professional. I would have preferred one or two people at the front desk -- it would be less noisy and intimidating for a new customer like myself. During my massage, (my room was near the front, maybe next to a break room?) I could hear people chatting and laughing which at times served as a distraction from my hour of relaxation. Overall: massage was good and effective -- I felt much better afterwards. I probably won't return, though, because I didn't feel very relaxed in the spa atmosphere itself. read more
