Booking appointments here is frustrating. Often it requires multiple phone calls to reach the front desk. The worst part about the experience here is the actual massage time. Booking an hour massage shouldn't mean you only get roughly 35 minutes. The rest are spent waiting. Customer service here is lacking. I've been a member for over a year and I still feel like I'm walking in for the first time every time. You're better off finding a local, more professional place and spending a little bit more. read more

I was here last month for a massage for my birthday. The place is nice and clean and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The massage therapist, I believe her name is Damany, she was terrific! I really liked her. I also added on a sugar foot scrub therapy. That was nice but I really didn't think it was worth the upgrade. It took only a couple of minutes and I didn't notice a difference. I was surprised however that there was no locker/changing room. I was expecting to change into a robe and spa shoes. lol. It's okay though, I would still go back again. I wish I remember the names of the folks who helped me because my experience was so positive! Called for a last minute massage because I literally need just need some rest and relaxation. The receptionist was super kind and accommodating. When I came in that same feel continued yesterday. My therapist was literally one of the best I have ever had and made the most of our 60 minutes together which was Is far shorter than I usually ever book. I have been a member of Massage envy for over 6 months now and it was the best decision I have made. The cost is more than reasonable and the best part is that no matter how short notice I call to make my apt they can always get me in. I don t have one particular masseuse, because everyone has been great. I even decided to go in for a facial one month and was very please. I would highly recommend this company to anyone. He is very knowledgeable about all the muscle groups and thoughtful to work thoroughly on the areas where I need help. He shares yoga moves and ideas for how to take care of my particular pain. My whole experience was totally unprofessional. I had to call nearly 5 times before I was finally put through to book an appointment. I made it very clear I wanted a very strong therapist to do deep tissue work. They scheduled me with a male therapist who they assured me was "very strong". When I came in for my massage they told me I was with a female therapist different from the one I was assigned over the phone. I was worried about this because I needed deep tissue work, but they assured me this was OK because she was "even stronger" then the male therapist was and he wouldn't have been a good fit anyways because he only did "medium to firm" pressure and was not good for a deep tissue massage. I was a little skeptical of what the truth was, if they had just messed up booking my appointment or if the person on the phone just lied to me about the therapist being strong. The massage was mediocre, I thought the therapist was more suited for a relaxation style then the deep tissue work I was looking for. When I came out before saying anything to the front desk ladies, they started telling me that they had recommendations of different therapist I could go see it if I came in again who would better fit the style I was looking for and were even stronger than the one I had been assigned to. They said they could give me a great deal of only having to pay $60 if I wanted to come back again. I didn't understand why I hadn't just been placed with these therapists in the first place when I had made it very clear from the beginning I was looking for someone to do strong deep tissue work. They even had an opportunity to diffuse the situation before I went in for the massage because we had an entire conversation and how I needed really deep work. They clearly just placed me with random therapists that were available with total disregard to what I had asked for and lied about their strength. No way was I going to waste another $60 at this place. I recommend going to VIP Feet Feel Spa instead, their services are half the price and they do better work in my opinion. read more

This should be brief enough. How much can you say about a place you've never set foot in? Ya see, I've never been to Massage Envy. Still, the one experience I had with them earlier today has me sure they're every bit as Superficial as their name sounds and, looking over their Yelp Page and Web Presence, in need of an Honest Review. Keep in mind, I have never taken the time to write a critical or even unflattering Yelp Review, I guess because I thought they were already in overabundance. This isn't going to be brief, I take it back... Four days ago, I scheduled an appointment for my fiance. A friend of mine recommended Massage Envy and, knowing little about massage therapy, I only made a few calls. Massage Envy called back first. I booked an Hour-Long Full-Body Prenatal Massage. I told them it was for my fiance's birthday, and that she was almost 9 months pregnant and that she's been a working teacher throughout the pregnancy. I said all this just to give them an idea of how meaningful it would be to her. Lastly--I told them that her mother passed away just last week. The receptionist sounded competent enough and caring. Today, two hours before her appointment, they called and canceled. I spoke with Amy, who said, "I'm sorry" repeatedly but who (I don't mind telling you) sounded impersonal, practiced and a little too careful not to admit fault--that is, not sorry. Nothing in the way of a proposal to make it right followed. That I thought was particularly ugly: I have a feeling that if we'd been the ones canceling two hours beforehand we'd also be paying for the thoughtlessness (your credit card number is required to hold an appointment). The reason Amy gave for canceling was that their Prenatal Massage Therapist had just called and canceled. It wasn't their fault, it was hers. They only have the one, she explained... And on and on. Then again, it's hard to imagine any reason sounding like a good reason at that point. If you're like me, reasons don't much matter when it's that important. read more

This was only my second massage so I guess I do not have much to base this off of however, Saro was AMAZING!!! It was a whole other experience compared to my first one. I arrived to the salon with a horrible headache after a very stressful day. Saro was very attentive to my needs and made sure to concentrate on my shoulders and neck. She also did some pressure point work on my scalp that worked wonders and proved that she was very knowledgeable. I never thought I would be someone to sign up for the membership however, I am now very seriously considering it. Of course, she is the only person I would go to for now on as well. read more

I've seen Gregg nine or ten times now and he is great. He is always prompt, friendly, and professional at appointments. In addition, he starts out each session with a brief, but useful conversation about any problem areas that I would like him to focus on, and then customizes the massage accordingly. He also does a good job accommodating requests for more or less pressure and responding to adjustments I have suggested during the massage itself. I called in to schedule a 2-hour neck & shoulder massage today but decided to cancel because the receptionist was EXTREMELY rude and unpleasant to talk to. Hello...this is a spa where people go to relax, indulge, and relieve pain. The LAST thing people want to do is deal with horrible customer service... I won't mention specific names but the receptionist's name starts with a "B." I decided to schedule elsewhere and will pay almost twice as much for half the massage time, but the KEY is that I received good service while scheduling my appointment and am looking forward to the occasion. I have received the worst customer service at this particular location (and the others aren't so great either) and the massages are below average. I've had massages many places and some are more for stress-relief and others have been for actual problems. I went into massage envy looking for something to keep my muscles happy during the running season, and I found that it Alexis. She's awesome, very fun to talk to and really knows how to work the muscles. I have a very tight IT band, and although painful, I always walk out feeling so much better. I booked a couple msg for me and my mom because she doesn't speak or hear and I was making sure to tell the receptionist that I was going there only because they have a couple room, I was going there on Monday but the room was fully booked so I switch to Tuesday, I leave close to the diversey one but they don't have a couple room. I got a cab went there and was shocked when they told me I didn't book a couple room and they don't have an empty one for now, so either I have to accept being on separate rooms or book another msg I was shocked, I already was there and had my plane so I said okey to separate rooms when we got there I explain to the therapist my mom situation and she said we have an empty couple room you can have it, I was double shocked now, how that stupid receptionists did know that she have an empty couple room that's her job, so after 15 min of looking for the room and getting set we start to have our msg. My therapist was great but my moms one wasn't I asked for a full body msg with more concentration on the leg area and mom end up with a back msg and a leg msg, no arms no under feet, nothing . And they didn't extend our section to an hour it was 40 min and I paid for 60 min the time that I lost talking to the front girls then looking for the room they stop the msg at 6:55. I'm giving this place 2 stars only because of my therapist she was understanding and she was great at customer service beside that everything there is crap. If you wanna have a good business you should hire great people, people who knows how to treat customers. I don't think I will go back there again read more

I have always had great experiences at the LP South Massage Envy location. I regularly get massages, and Massage Envy provides affordable massages. With a membership, one is basically getting a pre-paid one-hour massage at the member price. If you do not use the massage that month, it rolls over to the next month. I usually upgrade to a two hour massage, which ends up being about $100 (before the tip). After having lived in NYC, I have become accustomed to not having to pay more than $1 per minute of massage.... The facilities are nice, clean and spa-like. I usually arrive a few minutes early, and am able to enjoy a cup of hot tea before my massage. HOWEVER, it should be the massage therapist I go to who makes this location a 5-star location. I prefer deep tissue massage as I am a runner and am pretty tight overall. Joe is excellent, and knows how to get the muscles "working" again. I have tried other massage therapists who claim to do deep tissue (at this location), and I have always been disappointed. Ryan is also very good, and is my back up. read more

With the amount of massage places and spas, you'd think an owner, manager would actually care about generating new customers and revenues. I came across a gift certificate in a pile of papers at home which expired a while back. I called to see if they'd take it. 'Gift cards don't expire but certificates do' was what I was told. I told the nice girl on the phone I wanted to book a massage and if they would give me something from the certificate. 'No we can't. That was promotional'. She was going back and forth with the manager/owner. You'd think the manager/owner would have jumped on the phone, asked what I was looking to book, and then offered something as a 'brand new customer'. But no. Apparently they want me to book my 2 hour massage somewhere else. Sad that the art of acquiring customers through kindness has gotten lost behind the rules guided by - a paper certificate. I would never recommend any location of Massage Envy. I became a "member" thinking this would be a good health move for me. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in the caliber of message therapist they employ. They seemed very tentative and not very knowledgeable. I've had such a great experience here on two recent visits. I needed a massage badly and was able to get in the same day. The introductory rate of $49 is excellent and my massage therapist, Katie was just wonderful. I have had deep tissue massages on both occasions and she has managed to make me relaxed at the same time as working out lots of problems in my back. The facilities are very clean and I like the option of changing the temperature of the massage table and the lighting. After my first visit I signed up for a membership - $59 per month for a 50 min massage. The membership allows you to have additional services also, at members prices, e.g. $49 for an additional 50 min massage - the rate is $98 for non members. I plan to stick with Katie as she is excellent and highly recommend her. This place also has free parking right out front and the front desk staff are super friendly and helpful. read more

My appointments were messed up at least two times here - I booked an appointment 3 months in advance and came in to be told they didn't have me on their schedule. I will not be coming back to this place! I filled out my paper work to say that I wanted medium to deep pressure. When I met with the masseuse she asked me what I liked and if there were any areas I wanted her to work on the most. I told her I wanted her to do a full body massage but put a little extra attention on my feet and neck. I woke up with a stiff neck this morning and recently went back to work and have been on my feet for a while. She was very nice but my massage was basically a rub down-not a massage. I have been getting massages at Heavenly Massage since I was 12 years old and love it there, with living in the city I can no longer go there so I checked this place out. Boy was I disappointed. I have NEVER had a massage where they don't massage your hands and upper chest/shoulder area. When someone tells you there feet hurt your use deep pressure. It was basically like me rubbing my own feet. My neck is stiffer now and in more pain now than when I walked in. When I started to tell the front desk lady she didn't seem apologetic and she said well I must not have said that is what I wanted on the phone. No one asked me on the phone... so how am I supposed to tell someone. Why would I fill out paper work if it doesn't get read? And why would I have a verbal conversation with the masseuse about the pressure I want? After taking my credit card and paying the lady had be repeat what I said to her to her manager who was standing behind her the whole time. Neither seemed to care and basically said I should have told the person on the phone hard pressure. They said they could have me come back nect month for$60 if I wanted to come back again. Why would I want to come back again? They should have given me my money back. Now I have to go spend another hour of time somewhere else. Also, I paid for an hour massage if I didn't go into the room until 6:08 and I was dressed and in the lobby by 6:59 then I am pretty sure that was not an hour massage. By the time the messuage talked to me and let me get undressed and came back it probably was 5 more minutes putting this massage basically at 45 minutes. No way was I going to waste another $60 at this place. Like another reviewer below said I also recommend going to VIP Feet Feel Spa instead, their services are half the price and they do better work in my opinion. read more

I've had a rough couple of months. Really, really rough. Which is what led me to book my first massage. It was desperation really, I was in tears when I made the appointment, but the relief I allowed the knowledge of that appointment being made got me through another hellish week. So I arrived for my appointment a full half hour early, so excited, practically ecstatic.....for 2 hours of relaxation and me time. Kleenex break, because I'm crying again now as I write this review. I've actually been crying nonstop since I left this location more than an hour ago. I'm in my third trimester and crying fits are the nature of the beast. I'm just so......DISSAPOINTED. I was looking forward to this SO MUCH. YOU HAVE NO IDEA. IF IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO HAVE A SPECIALLY CERTIFIED MASSEUSE WORK ON A PREGNANT WOMAN-TO THE POINT WHERE HER APPOINTMENT WILL HAVE TO BE CANCELLED IF ONE IS NOT AVAILABLE-PERHAPS YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR FEMALE CLIENTS IF THEY ARE WHEN THEY SCHEDULE THEIR APPOINTMENTS. OR ON THE ONLINE WEB REQUEST-WITH ALL THE "AROMATHERAPY" AND "HOT ROCK" AND "SWEDISH" AND EVERY OTHER OPTION UNDER THE SUN MAYBE YOU MIGHT PUT A "PRENATAL" CHECKBOX. MAYBE???????? YOU COULD TRY IT???????? We do this all ourselves-we have daycare for the youngest two during the day but otherwise have no family that can be counted on to help and we do not utilize sitters. This was my last free weekend before the baby arrives (roughly six weeks from now-give or take) there is no rescheduling for me. And once the baby does arrive-even if I somehow did find the time for a massage I would not have the money to pay for it as I will be on unpaid maternity leave while my husband works near round the clock to try and compensate for my missing paycheck. This was my last shot-for at least half a year-and if someone during the entire process had just thought to ASK. I wouldn't be bawling my eyes out right now. How am I to be expected to know one needs some kind of special certification to massage a pregnant woman? I've never had one, ever, by any one for any reason. I don't know. The therapists here could be miracle workers. I'll never know. Thank you SO MUCH, MASSAGE ENVY, for contributing the latest in the series of unfortunate events that has become my life since kicking off with an IUD failure several months ago. I needed this.
