We had a great experience coming here. They were pretty busy during Mother's day weekend but I was still able to snag two facial appointments at the same time. When we arrived they were already expecting us and had all the paperwork we needed to fill out ready for us. I had Corrie and she was fantastic with my facial. She was so gentle with the facial and the massage. She listened to my facial issues with oil and acne and made the determination to give me a Vitamin C facial. It was great! My skin looks great even the day after the facial. The room was very comfortable and the bed was a perfect temperature. I was so relaxed that I was a bit startled to find out my time was up and it was over. Corrie was so hospitable that after my facial she came out to give me a little bottle of water as I was settling the bill. So nice of her! The only thing that wasn't relaxing was when I heard someone opening boxes or breaking down boxes outside my room (or the hallway where the noise carried down to my room). That was a bit distracting. Each and every step - from booking my massage, filling out my digital forms, and completing my transaction at the end of my massage - was so seamless and easy. My masseuse, Micah, provided the absolute best massage I have ever received. She asked thoughtful questions about what I wanted out of my session, and the work she did demonstrated that she truly listed and took everything into account! I have been going to massage envy for the last 4 years and have always been a satisfied customer. However today my therapist went above and beyond. I had to cancel my appointment last weekend due to a child's sickness and had to reschedule for today with someone else because my therapist was already booked. When I went in today I was greeted by my therapist Natasha (who is awesome) and she explained how she moved some things around so she could be with me today. The front desk and Natasha did not have to do this at all, I didn't even ask, but they went out of there way to do something just to make my day. I have never had a negative experience in my time there (even through new ownership and a remodel,which can be tough) and continue recommend them to friends and family. On whim we booked massages at 9:30 p.m. for 9 a.m. the following morning. Dawn was the only MT available, and I was notified she only provides moderate deep pressure. True! Overall, decent massage. On my check-in sheet I requested an 'all-over, general' massage. She chose to spend most of her time on my back. The therapists here seem to have degrees in sports medicine, etc. So, be prepared it may be more health focused than a "spa" pamper experience. That said, I haven't ever gotten a weak massage here and I get to take away some knowledge like exercises I can do to prevent injury and stress. I would go more often, ironically, but I don't like being propositioned with the club program. I feel like the employees are graded on if they sell this and I'm not interested because....budgeting reoccurring charges, the unknown future, difficult cancellations to name a few, whether real or imagined hassles. This was my first time at this location. When making the appointment I specified I was pregnant and needed a pregnancy massage yet they were unprepared for that when I arrived. They do not have (or at least didn't have for me) the pregnancy massage table - instead gave me a couple of lumpy pillows - I think I am was uncomfortable AFTER the massage than going in. The therapist acted as though she had no idea how to do pregnancy massage and not once inquired about my comfort (table temp, comfort with position, etc) I frequently have massages and this was among the worst I have ever had. I can't imagine why people join this club as members - I feel bad for anyone that would go here more than once. Could not have been a more disappointing experience. read more

I like the club program they offer because it's great for traveling when in other cities. Hours are also excellent. It could have more of a spa feel as the walls are pretty thin and you can hear doors opening/closing and people talking. read more

I've been to multiple Massage Envy locations. By far, this is the worst run location I've experience. The store manager has been rude and is missing the whole concept of "customer satisfaction". I was finally contacted by a member of management from this location. They issued a credit to my wife's account to equal the number of services I was lead to believe she was getting. They also added an upgrade to her next message for free. She went to a facial appointment this morning and said the experience was absolutely wonderful. I was told they don't book 90 minute massage if 2 hours are available (so, if you don't have 2 hours in your day, you are outta luck). Consistently disappointed by this place. A 60 minute massage is really 50, because they start 5 minutes late and end the session 5 minutes early. I haven't found a masseuse that I like yet and I've tried 8. I just got jipped out of a massage because someone else took my masseuse when she called my name while I was trying to check in. I bought a gift card for my girlfriends birthday, she went and got a massage, they charged her card for the gratuity as well as the FULL price of the massage. Not only that the manager was rude to my girlfriend when she called her about it. Not only that also she hung up on my girlfriend when she asked when she will get her money back... Not only that she had the audacity to claim that "it wasn't their fault" and no apology whatsoever... We've been going to this massage envy pretty regularly since we moved to Des Moines in June and it has gotten worse each time. I've been a Massage Envy client since 2013 and have had pretty good experiences in Chicago. I really wanted to like this place in Clive. But today's fiasco was the last straw. My fiance and I made an appointment for 2 90 minute massages on Sept 10 for Sept 23rd. We showed up for our appointments only to be told that they didn't have us on the schedule. This was after we got a call yesterday to confirm the appointment. To make matters worse they couldn't even reschedule us at all. The staff were less than useless and made no effort to make things right. This was after they screwed up our last appointment, we booked 90 minutes, but only got scheduled for 60. And the time before that they switched masseurs on my fiance without asking. This place is a joke. I guess we'll be cancelling our membership. I called and was rudely told to leave my call back information so someone could call me back at a better, less busy time. didn't receive a call back. I ended up requesting an appointment through their website and, yet again, no one got back to me. I even got confirmation that my request was received. Originally happy enough to purchase a membership and then the problems began shortly thereafter. My therapist injured herself and was off work for a while. I have deep tissue work done. I was hoping her injury was not from doing so much deep tissue on me! When she returned I asked to set up an appt with her. The front desk staff seemed to give me the runaround - she's not in that day, she's busy that day, no matter what day I tried for an appt, it didn't work. I tried another therapist that I was disappointed in. One of the therapists actually aired her stories of abandonment as a child and all her personal problems for the entire hr! I called several weeks later to make an appt with the therapist I liked. I was given a number of times she had openings and made an appt for Sat. AM at 9. I arrived just as my therapist can out to the waiting room. She called back a different client. Then the front desk staff told me I would not be getting my requested therapist that morning because there was a scheduling problem. I was not happy as I arranged my morning's schedule to be there. I said I would reschedule so I could get a massage with her for Mon am. I booked for 9. Later that day, I received a call from the manager saying my therapist could no longer do me because she is unable to do deep tissue massage any longer. I said I was glad someone finally came out and just told me as I felt as though I had been given the runaround and didn't know why. I set up a new appt for Mon at 10am with another therapist they assured me would be very good. I arrived for my appt this morning only to have who I assume was the owner, tell me my therapist did not show up for work today!!! He said he could give me someone else that would not be as good but he would give me a free massage. In light of all the problems I asked for my membership to be cancelled. I received a gift card to visit they massage envy location in Clive. I went there today and was less than thrilled with my experience. I normally do not write reviews whether good or bad but considering the cost of a one hour massage (and I have no problem paying top dollar for wonderful service) for a nonmember it irritated me a little bit due to the service I received. The front desk host was very nice and welcoming. I sat in the chair is in waited for my massage therapist to come get me, when she finally came out she was not welcoming in the least bit she just stood by the door and open it and called my name like we are in a doctors office. There was no smiling, or "how are you, is this your first time coming here, what brings you here today". My name was simply called and I was directed to go to room five. The room was freezing and the therapist hands or even more freezing every time she touch me I wanted to jump out of my skin. She seemed less than interested in performing the massage and not that I'm an expert but I get massages often in the whole thing was less than enjoyable. The massage did not last the full hour, she got up abruptly and said the massage was over and to get dressed and come out when ready. Again there was no thank you for coming, please come see me again. Her bedside manner and customer service could improve. And the massage itself wasn't great. read more

I have been a member for over three years and always have trouble getting an appointment. I have over 14 prepaid massages I've been trying to use up. I was lied to that I could do this. now I'm told I can't do this without signing up for a new membership. I was asked to join a class action suit against them for just this problem. This Massage Envy is terrible. I've been to multiple locations across the country and I have never had a bad experience until I tried the Clive location. The receptionists are rude and extremely unhelpful. I have been a member for years and they couldn't find me in the system. I tried for 10 minutes to help them find my name, but decided to give up after I concluded it was helpless. On top of this, they have never had availability. I've called 5 times, and each time they've told me they have no appointments for days. I have never had this experience at other locations - usually I can get in that same day or at the very latest the next day. That is why I am a member, so I don't have to plan out my massages weeks in advance. But if I was permanently in Clive, I would definitely discontinue my membership. No good experiences at this location. Looking forward to going back to my normal locations in IL/NC. read more
