I have been a customer at this location (Edgewater, NJ) for the past 12 years and they decided to cancel my membership because I was 2 months behind even though I emailed their office and said I would stop by on Jan 2, 2026 to add my credit card on file and they agreed to it. I went there yesterday and spoke to their General Manager Bryanna Gallardo and she refused to credit me back the 2 sessions they took from me (total of $200 + another $300 that they kept). So I walked out and said nice way to treat your customer and they kept my $500. This how they treat a customer of 12 years??? I just had an amazing experience with Dyriann. I had been experiencing weeks of pain in my upper back and neck. I work out often and I am a surgeon, naturally carrying a lot of tension in these areas. Dyriann was professional, skilled, and a great listener. She tailored the treatment to my concerns in real time and made adjustments when appropriate according to my problem areas. She was a great communicator and was educational. I highly recommend Dyriann, especially if you have a particular problem area. I will be coming back to her. read more

My teenage son and l visited this salon from May to June 2024, while we stayed at the Comfort Inn nearby. Rama behind the reception counter was very friendly and helpful and she recommended we get a package of services to get the best value for our money. We took her advice and got the package and used the points it comes with to pay for various services offered by this wellness and beauty salon. We enjoyed the salt stone massage, the deep tissue massage, the aromatherapy massage and the foot massage. We also enjoyed their facials. My son had a deep cleansing facial for acne-prone skin during which Gabi patiently and carefully extracted all of his pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. I had both the oxygenating facial and the microdermabrasion hydrating facial for my middle-aged skin. Gabi thoroughly cleansed my clogged pores and desert-dry menopausal skin and then hydrated it. We had very relaxing and soothing massages by Daryanne, Carolae and Luz which helped us to get pain relief from muscle soreness due to packing boxes and moving out of the apartment we recently sold and vacated in Fort Lee, NJ. If I could give zero stars I would. I have had a membership with massage envy in Edgewater I called to cancel they sent me the forms and I canceled. They call me six months later telling me my account is not canceled. It is actually freeze, which is not what I asked for. They are now trying to charge me for services that I never received when I had called and canceled my membership. The unprofessionalism of the manager Rama was disgusting, as I was explaining my situation to her. She was not understanding telling me it was my fault completely worst customer service ever. I would never recommend going to massage envy. Do not spend your money here they will rip you off every single way possible. Do not sign up for a membership!!! This review is about the management. I only had good massages (Tian! Tian is all the stars!!). However, I'm starting to feel I signed up for a membership with blood and a lifetime trap.. err.. commitment in this location. I relocated to a new city in a different state with a new job. When I relocated Massage Envy was still closed down. Additionally, I moved pretty quickly, and intended to keep my membership. After I was settled in to my new state, I realized I was not using my membership. After earning credits faster than I could use them I called to cancel my membership. I was told only a manager could cancel and I'd get a call back. The next night I had a missed call from Massage Envy and called back almost immediately. Jeanette answered and seemed confused as to why I was calling back. She actually said it was a mistake to call me. I replied that I believed she was calling me back from the day before. I explained why I wanted to cancel and she did her best to explain a "hold plus". The conversation went something like this towards the end. Me "so I'd like to cancel." Jeanette "so you'd like a hold plus." Me " no, I'd like to cancel" Jeanette " so with the hold plus you can have time to use your credits and it will last two months". Me "I appreciate this, but I'd still like to cancel". Jeanette then curtly said the paperwork would be sent out the next day and rudely hung up the phone. (Earlier in conversation she verified my current address). I never received the paperwork or a call back when I called about the missing paperwork after two weeks. I understand the urgency to keep members with Covid, but holding me hostage to a membership is uncalled for. I was also never told that a hold plus cost $10 a month. Now, I didn't choose this option, but if I had that would have been a surprise charge. Additionally, this is the same manager who took my gift card when I signed up and said it would be on my account to use. When I came in for my next visit, the gift card couldn't be found on my account. I pushed back because there was a good amount of money on the card. I ended up paying what I needed out of pocket and the card was eventually found and attached to my account. read more

She told me everything she was doing and I feel like every time I go here I am learning more & more about skincare. Can't wait to come back and have Justina do another facial. 9/1/18 Got my facial today from Abeer and I am so happy I did. Not only is she gentle when giving a facial, she gives you a skincare consultation as she goes. She answered all my questions in depth and went over my new skincare regimen with me step by step. She didn't pressure me but afterwards she went over every product again at their mini store they have. DO NOT GO TO THIS MASSAGE ENVY LOCATION - DISHONEST MANAGEMENT! Each Massage Envy location is privately owned but must follow guidelines which all Massage Envy locations must abide by. When I tried to gift transferred credits to my parents in Florida, one of the owners tried to tell me that I could only use transferred credits AT THEIR LOCATION ONLY. This rule goes against Massage Envy policy which states that a member or someone using transferred credit can be used at ANY MASSAGE ENVY LOCATION. Therefore their SHADY MADE UP RULE IS COMPLETELY FALSE. When I disputed this, the owner changed her mind (probably because she knew it was false!) and told me I could let them take their massages at my parent's location. Then when my father got sick right before his appointment (possibly covid), I canceled the appointment the day before which is within limits of cancellation policy. I asked that I be given back my 2 credits but was denied by another "owner" which I spoke to. After I told him that I thought it was totally unfair that I lose my 2 credits even though I canceled in time (I had been a member for 1 1/2 years), he argued that "the system wouldn't allow this". I told him I thought it was unscrupulous to begin with that they tried to make my parents go only to their location. Then now the fact that he was trying to possibly not give me back these credits further showed their untrustworthy business practices. Then he hung up on me saying he couldn't do anything more for me. Im very disappointed that my first experience with Massage Envy will also be my last. It is so close to my home so I was looking to cancel my current membership and start here but I won't be doing that now. I arrived for my 3pm appointment at 245 and was asked a few questions by a very nice receptionist. No complaints there. The therapist came to get me at 3:01 and looked like she was in a rush. She very quickly went over what I told the receptionist and then left for me to get changed. It felt like a very long time and I glanced at the clock and she came back in at 3:07. I was waiting on the table for about 5 minutes but some people take longer to get changed than others. The massage itself was just okay. But when she said it was all done, I could not believe that an hour had passed. When she left the room, the clock read 3:49. 43 minutes of massage time is completely unacceptable for an hour appointment. By 3:53 I was already in the "tranquil" room with a receptionist trying to get me to buy a membership. I was out of the building before the clock even hit 4pm. I'm so disappointed and feel even less relaxed than when I walked in. read more

At the end of my 12 month contract, I was told that I had 90 days to use up my remaining 3 hrs. When I called to make an appointment to use up those 3 hours, the lady confirmed this was right and set me up for my desired dates. Then I get a call saying that I was supposed to come in for a massage which was NOT the date that I had requested. I was also told that my 3hrs (which I had already paid for) wouldnt be honoured because they needed me to use up my hours within 60 days!! Every one I called has been giving me different information about my account. This is completely unacceptable. If they want to cheat their customers of their money, why not just increase the prices of their massages? The lady I spoke with kept telling me that I was wrong despite me telling her that I was told otherwise multiple times by multiple people. DO NOT GO HERE. And definitely DO NOT get into any contracts with them, they will find excuses to cheat you of your money. UPDATE: Massage Envy DID NOT solve the issue. They sent an email to me saying that they apologize for the bad service and misunderstandings on their part, but they are not willing to fix the issue. That even though it was a mistake on their end, I wont be able to use my remaining hours in Massage Envy. Sojo Spa is across the street. This review is for the exceedingly poor customer service I received while booking an appointment with this ME location. I had called earlier in the week and booked an appointment for 2 facials and a massage at 3pm on Saturday for my mother and sister. I confirmed two days prior to booking that it was still available and received a confirmatory voicemail the day before. The morning of my appointment I got a call from ME informing me that the masseuse who I had booked with was out sick and that there was no one else available at that time. The next question out of the receptionist's mouth was: "do you want to cancel?" At no point did she try to accommodate our group for another time or day. She also did not offer to reach out to other locations to reschedule our appointment for the same day. The conversation with her was very pained and it was clear that she was wiping her hands of the situation without even trying to come to a solution. Keeping in mind ME's strict cancellation policy, I'm appalled that they would cancel last minute without any repercussions, or without offering to right the situation. I did manage to speak to another receptionist at the location in River Edge who was informative, professional, and very helpful. She was able to schedule the three of us that same day and reviewed ME's policy of last minute cancellations. Additionally, as some other reviewers have mentioned it is exceedingly difficult to get in contact with this branch. They simply don't pick up the phone, and require multiple attempts before you're able to get through to a person. I will never attempt to book with this location again. If you like subpar customer service and wasting your time, this is the place for you. If not, go anywhere else. read more

Duped by the contract! Don't sign a contract. Just pay for individual services and if that's not an option, go somewhere that will allow you to purchase individual services. It is a headache to out of their contract and you will end up paying more than you originally intended to. Overall customer service of this location = 1 star Massage therapist James = 5 stars I signed up for the 6 month membership which I was told I could be done with after 6 months. However, I was duped. You are in fact, not allowed to cancel your membership until after you've been billed the 7th time. So if you sign a 6 month contract, be aware you are agreeing to pay the initiation fee + at least 7 months. After speaking with manager, Natalie, and explaining that I will be out of the country for an entire billing cycle of my last 6 month, I was told they cannot freeze the membership because I do not purchase enough sessions. Apparently, you can only freeze if you're a big money spender there despite the fact that the Westerville, OH location said I should have no problem freezing it for that month. read more

This led me to running late; I ask Kirsten if I can be 15 late and she says that'd mean I would only get 15 mins of a stretch as I am only granted my appointed time slot. I then ask Kirsten to cancel my appointment as It's not worth it for me to pay $40 for a 15 min stretch. Kirsten says that due to cancellation policy, they'd still charge me. I now rush to get there as I want to take advantage of every minute I am going to be charged for. In rushing, i get pulled over. The cop charges me with two tickets. Kristen calls me "Hi Sara. Bonnie was my masseuse and another sweet young brunette got me acquainted in the beginning and asked me about my lifestyle and massage preferences. Everyone here was super friendly, caring, and professional and Bonnie gave me a written and verbal evaluation afterwards telling me what areas to keep an eye on and tips of how to alleviate pain. I feel like a brand new person. As a grad student, i carry all my stress in my neck and shoulders. Tian is amazing, his hands are so strong and he does a wonderful DEEP massage. He is a must, if you have a lot of tension and need a deep massage to alleviate it. Worst investment I could have ever made in my life. Don't bother doing the contracts. They do not explain contacts properly to you but of course take your money whenever they can. And for you to make any simple change to your account you have to let them know 10 days before. Just because I was short by one day they did not want to accommodate me. They don't remind you when freezes on your account are about to expire but sure do call for you to come get serviced. They are not flexible nor accommodating at all! I've been called multiple times very last minute before my appointment about my massage therapist or esthetician calling out. The therapist declined to alter her pressure upon request, insisting that I'd agreed to moderate pressure when booking. She refused to deviate from what was comfortable for her. She must have spent a third of the time solely on my feet and kept making condescending remarks about needing to stretch, exercise, etc. She was the opposite of personable and was just a shitty therapist. I suspect they start you with a good massage therapist in the beginning in the hopes of hooking you for a package. I've had a pretty good experience with this location. The front desk is helpful but when they ask how your massage/other service was, they don't really care about the answer. I wasn't happy with my recent massage from Landro at all. He must be new because he was unknowledgeable about the aromatherapy lotion options and was highly disorganized. He had to go in and out at the start because he forgot something, then in and out again to find the aromatherapy lotion I wanted, thereby delaying my massage by 10 minutes at least. I chose 'anxiety release' and he didn't know what ingredients/scents were in it. He didn't introduce himself to me or ask questions about my areas to focus on before beginning. He didn't communicate his plan for my massage or ask how the pressure was at any point. He seemingly had no rhythm or process. The movements he used felt random and abrupt. By the end of the massage, my tight areas still felt just as tight. Overall, highly disappointed with Landro and wouldn't recommend him to anyone. On a more positive note, my facial with Priscilla was fantastic! I loved the Murad products. They smelled great and my skin felt so soft afterwards. She was very sweet, asking important questions about my skin regimen and providing recommendations for questions I had. Awesome experience with her! read more

It is very hard to get through on the phone, I also find it a bit ridiculous that it's advertised as a 1 hour when it is really only 50 mins max. They believe you need 10 mins to change out of your clothes and they say it's never less than 50 mins but it's not true. Advertising an hour massage should be an hour. The massage itself is mediocre, they move slow and seem to be doing more breathing techniques than massaging. This is the place to go if you need a quick fix. I did the annual membership, and regret it. This is not the place to go if you have problem areas or need anything more than a recreational massage. Watch the clock. read more

I received a gift card last Christmas and had been hoarding it for the perfect opportunity. It came last weekend. I had a rare day off during the work week and treated myself to an afternoon massage. This was my first time being here and I immediately felt comfortable. Having a desk job I know that I carry a lot of tension in my upper back, neck, and shoulders, so I requested the area be the focus. I also chose to add on aromatherapy and selected mint & rosemary lotion, which smelled heavenly and energizing at the same time. I initially was going to ask for a male because I thought I'd be able to get a firmer pressure that way but Micheline was AMAZING! There were moments where she was working on my upper back that were just this side of painful. Not because it was too much but because my knots were that bad. I left feeling completely at ease, albeit a little tender. The next day was even more so but I felt less tense. They did talk me into joining and becoming a member ($69.99/mo) which I'm looking forward to. My only complaint about the membership is that in order to cancel, you need a note from your doctor explaining why you can no longer receive a massage. I think that's a bit much. Based on price and massage quality, this place is a gem. I've only had one so-so massage here, and it was because the massage itself felt rushed which made it difficult for me to relax. The only reason it didn't get five stars is because by the time they come get you, have their "what do you want" chat, you change, and they start the massage you've lost out on anywhere from 5-10 minutes of the hour. They've also stopped the massages consistently about three minutes before the hour. The fact they do it so consistently makes me think it's protocol, which is kind of dishonest. read more

I didn't love my prenatal massage- it was just OKAY and I didn't feel any need to sign up or return to this location for a massage. I think she listened to what my problem areas were but it was a bit too rough at first. My biggest qualm with this place is that she was sniffling and may have been slightly sick or recovering from a cold. For a pregnant woman VERY prone to getting to sick, it's not a good idea to have someone who is in that state. She definitely took two breaks to get tissue and sneezed. The business is NOT interested in helping you relax. They are a nickel and dime operation who will not stand behind a word that any of their employees say. No employee, not even the manager, can give you correct information regarding your contract. The owner will negate any fair conversation which remotely sounds like "good customer service" after they make clerical mistakes. Do yourself a favor choose another location, or another spa who stands behind what they say. The owner at the River's Edge location actually responds to customer service issues well so that's a more sound option in the area. Do NOT contract here unless you want to tattoo every word of the service agreement to your arm, and do NOT take any word from any employee here as credible, not matter how small the issue is (even if the employee emails it to you in writing, wow). I was a big weary based on past reviews written about this business as a whole but the Edgewater location had the best reviews as all the others. Jennifer, at the front desk greeted me very nicely, answered my questions, and gave me some great tea. Afterwards I met with Gloria, my masseuse. She was sweet, outgoing, and gave me an awesome massage. I was super sore from working out and she gave me just the right amount of pressure to sooth my muscles without feeling painful. I will definitely go back to meet with Gloria. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because I'd like to see more different style massages. read more

I mentioned the 1/2 hour free upgrade that is very clearly on their Yelp page but she absolutely refused to honor it nor acknowledge that it was there. After repeatedly asking her to please check it out, I soon realized that neither her nor her manager were going to be people I wanted to deal with when looking for a relaxing atmosphere.
