I've been a member for 20 years. I missed an appointment and instead of taking a pre-paid credit they charged my card again. This is their cancellation policy and it doesn't matter how long you've been going there. Each location has the ability to refund the charge but the manager will not and says it's because of the cancellation policy. The cancellation policy is not on the website anywhere but only in messages they send to confirm the appointment. I opted out of those messages because I was getting messages every other day that my masseuse had an opening. The manager said they had to charge my card so that the employee would get paid but I've already prepaid! I had 3.5 credits! The manager said that the district manager would say the same thing and the regional manager would say the same thing. Not charge for a person going to hospital and being admitted for respiratory infection with temperature of 105.00. They charged 103.00 for an appointment that I woke up this morning with a temperature of 105. I have been going to this location for over 10 years and never missed an appointment. They were extremely rude about all this. I have a Dr note and am having to spend the night in hospital for respiratory therapy. I had the worst massage ever. Massage therapist used so many pumps of lotion over and over- the lotion was cold and I was basically soaked by the end of the session. She was loud and with the amount of lotion, I barely felt like I was getting a massage. I asked her to focus on back and shoulders and got no shoulder massage at all. I found out that the company withdrew 105.00 dollar from my bank account without notifying me. When I called to ask why they said I missed my appointment . I had always received notifications and I always responded yes or no or reschedule . This time no notification . They told me I opted out?!!! Not that great... I had a gift card for a 1-hour massage at Massage Envy. Because I had back surgury a couple of years ago, I really enjoy a great massage which is why I was given the gift. I had to fill out a form explaining the type of massage I wanted, where my trouble areas were, and any medical history. This was great, I thought it would help me get a better massage. The massage began as usual, although it was not a deep tissue massage, it was a very weak rub. During the massage the massage therapist asked me about any trouble areas. I told her that it was my lower back. That I had lots of stress and tightness around my lower back, gluts and upper legs. When it came time to massage my gluts, she put a towel over my backside and massaged me through the towel. I have received dozens of massages and have never been massaged through a towel. This made me feel self-concious and actually stressed me out a little. She did the same thing for my upper legs and massaged me through a towel. Not only did she make me feel like a perv for getting a massage, but a massage through a towel doesn't do a whole lot of good. If a massage therapist is not willing to touch her clients, then she is probably in the wrong line of work. I have read a couple of positive reviews here, so I will give them another try. I just won't use the same therapist. read more

When I lived in Florida I used Massage Envy several times and hadn't ever been matched with the type of therapist I was looking for, so I was hesitant to try another Massage Envy again. However, I received a couple of gift cards so I decided to try them again, knowing that each location is franchised/individually run. When I made my appointment I asked for someone who had very strong hands and who could do a true Deep Tissue massage. My muscles tend to get knotted up, and while a Swedish massage feels relaxing, it never addresses the underlying tension being held in the muscles. I was matched with Will and he exceeded my expectations. Not only was he able to provide a good Deep Tissue massage, he was knowledgeable about the different muscles and was explaining how they are connected and how pain or stress in one spot could be triggered by injury in a seemingly unrelated area. Will has very strong hands and seems like a very nice guy too. We talked about how he got into the massage therapy business and I can tell that he really enjoys helping others through the power of his touch. He did some stretching exercises for my arms, legs, and neck and I could tell he was paying attention to how far he could push me. I did a 90 minute session and felt like it was the perfect amount of time to work out all my muscles. I am planning on seeing Will again and would recommend him to others who are seeking a gifted massage therapist. read more

I am unwell, and limit my driving. I went for my 7: 30 pm appointment on Friday to find it was never scheduled. I made this appointment at the counter, in person. They argue and contradict the customers about their scheduling mistakes. Poor service is the standard. Been going to this location for over a year now. Have had some great experiences, but seriously the very best has been Alli. The staff at this location have always been kind and welcoming and I've never had a single issue. I've had about 5 different therapists over the years and have to praise Alli. Professional, friendly, real, and uhMAYzing!!! Just say NO to membership. This franchise set of shops is not in the massage business. Massages are so-so...but it doesn't matter. They are in the business of setting up drafts from your checking account to create cash flow. Be advised. When you are unable to use the massages in their allocated time frame, the debits will continue (auto renewal at your bank)... but your credits will disappear in their system, if they go unused due to an illness or extended travel. Also, either due to poor IT or less than business-mature individuals on the phone....the franchised stores don't communicate account information well, so you will be making several phone calls before your massage appointment is confirmed. The Massage Envy on Chastain Kennesaw is ok, but they keep charging me. I tried to cancel previously and they told me I couldn't cancel until after a Oct. I called to cancel in Dec and they told me they needed a months notice but agreed to cancel then after I voiced dissatisfaction with notifying them twice. And today I am being billed again. Perhaps they need to hire persons who have customer service experience and who can manage their membership process better. The Massage Envy on Hwy 92 never responded to my complaint.. I showed up for an appointment and their massage therapist did not show up. I was rescheduled for the next day. I was never offered any vouchers or coupons, etc. They charge you when you miss and appointment and don't notify them, the same respect should go to the Customer. read more

My mother in law surprised my three sisters in law and me with a spa day at Massage Envy for Christmas. My understanding is that this was a last minute surprise, so before anything else, it was super nice of them to rearrange their appointments to fit us all in. Outside of that, I was very happy with my experience here - everything was very clean and my therapist was fantastic. I haven't felt this relaxed in ages. While most of the technicians rock, and I always feel awesome when I leave, they are sucking my bank account dry. I'm told one date for drafts from my account, but their computer system always, always pulls the money much sooner, keeping me in a long vicious cycle of overdrafts. You can freeze your account, but you cannot use your credits during that time. I'm so unhappy with them that I'm ready to take the huge loss in prepaid massages and tell them to close my account. My first visit to this location was in 2008 and it was my very first massage. The front desk staff was so helpful and they had their 1hr special for $39 at the time. I was very nervous, but my masseuse was kind and gentle. Two years later I returned with my BFF and we did a couple's massage for 30 minutes. It was a great experience having my friend there and I loved the therapist so much that I went back a couple month's later with my mom for Valentine's Day and requested him again. That is when we enrolled in their monthly membership program, which I highly recommend otherwise its pricey. The membership program is a year contract that you pay monthly, should you not go in that month it rolls over to the next month. You can combine your credits as well. Family members are added to your plan at a discounted price. You can go in multiple times throughout the month and pay the member rate. There are more amenities they'll tell you about as well. The girls at the desk are so kind and friendly. I have been a member for almost 2 years now and I always see Kim, he is awesome and very knowledgeable and accommodating. The environment is so clean and relaxing. In my opinion an hour is too short and 2 hours is too long, so 90 minutes is perfect for me. They offer facials, deep tissue muscle, aromatherapy, hot stones and more. I have only tried the deep muscle, which did nothing extra for me. read more

I went here because I sprained my neck and had a lot of tightness in it. My boyfriend urged me to go, although truth be told I really don't enjoy massages, but the discomfort I was in was almost unbearable. This place was right across the street from my apartment and as a first time client a 1-hour massage is only $49. I filled out paperwork, including areas I was having problems with, stress level, health conditions, and how deep/gentle I wanted the massage. Natasha was my masseuse, she was very nice and did focus on my neck and shoulders as asked. However, it hurt so bad for her to touch those spots that I ended up tensing up even more. So now, two days later, I'm having to head to the chiropractor because of a horrific nerve pain I have in my neck and right side of my head. My boyfriend booked an hour long massage for me. Will was my massage therapist and I swear this was the best massage I've ever had! He was very personable and very good at what he does. I had mentioned some shoulder tension and he worked it out very well. Nothing tickled (which is hard with me), and the pressure was perfect. My husband got me a gift card as my birthday present, and I was so glad to get it. I always ask him for back massages but he's terrible at it. So this was his way of making up for it. I submitted an appointment request online and got a call back within a couple of hours. I got my massage with Kim. He was great. He made me feel comfortable. It was a good massage - really dug in there and massaged some sore muscles and knots. I got the sugar foot scrub enhancement which was also nice. Dont go to the kennesaw massage envy! Extremely unprofessional & unwilling to work with people My girlfriend got a gift card for an hour massage here for her birthday. She had never been to this spa before but tried to give it a shot. Since she lives close she decided to just so by and see if they had any avaliable appointments or make one for the next day. They did not have any right then so she tried to make one for the next day but they told her she would have to give them a credit or debit card number first before they would make it. She told them she had a gift card but they said it didn't matter, they needed a card number to make an appointment so they could charge get if she didn't show up. She told them she only had a prepaid debit card & the gift card & asked why they couldn't just take the gift card number down & charge that if she didn't show up. However they told her they could not do that & pretty much that she was out of luck. She then called the massage envy in marietta who told her that they could make an appointment with only using the gift card number without a problem & proceeded to do so right then. I do not know why the kennesaw store refused to help her but she had an appointment within 2 min of calling the marietta store but had to argue with the kennesaw store for 30 min & got nothing accomplished. I actually got the membership and ended up extremely mistreated when I ended my membership after a year. Since they debit your account monthly, I had built up several hours. That's when they informed me I could only give away one session per month to someone else and I had thirty days to use all sessions. When I missed my appointment for my last sessions due to food poisoning the receptionist initially said they would reschedule me but called back and told me I would lose the two hours and I should be happy to know that I wouldn't be charged for my missed appointment. It is hard to give an appropriate star rating on this but here is my experience... The massage was no where near a good one, in fact I left there feeling more tense than when I arrived. HOWEVER, where the massage itself lacked, the customer service from management was amazing and not something you find everyday! For someone who works in customer satisfaction, I am highly impressed with theirs. I have been having a lot of back and neck pain. I knew one treatment would not make the pain go away, but I went from an 8 to a 4 pain wise. I used Kim, who is great. I asked for deep tissue and that is what I got. He started off through the sheets, just to get started, but he folded them back after about a minute. I decided to get the membership and if you do miss a massage it does roll over to the next month. So you can have two in a month instead of one. It is very affordable at 59 a month. They do take your credit card info because lets be realistic...this is a year contract that you can cancel at the end. I've never entered a contract where they don't have this info. They are very professional there. This is the first place where I had to disclose medical history, such as cancer and such. It's not a big deal and it really brings their professionalism up a notch since they have someone who specializes in massages for patients with lymphoma. For those who don't know, the average masseuse can't touch a person with lymphonia, you have to have special training. read more
