I am extremely disappointed with my experience with the Massage Envy location in Lemon Grove, CA. My wife had a massage appointment that we needed to cancel because we unexpectedly had to leave town after my aunt passed away. I am a 100% disabled U.S. Navy veteran, and my wife is also my caretaker. Given the circumstances, I called the location, spoke with Tatiana, explained what had happened, and respectfully asked if the cancellation fee could be waived as a one-time courtesy. Unfortunately, I felt Tatiana was rude, insensitive, condescending, and inconsiderate during our conversation. What bothered me most was the lack of empathy or compassion after I explained that we were out of town because of a death in our family. I asked if I could speak with a manager or district manager regarding the cancellation fee, but I was told that no manager or district manager was available for me to speak with. I served my entire U.S. Navy career in the San Diego area, and I am extremely disappointed to have this type of experience with a local business. I wasn't asking for special treatment because I am a veteran. I was asking for some understanding regarding an unexpected death in our family and circumstances beyond our control. This experience left me feeling disrespected and taken advantage of at an already difficult time for my family. Based on how this situation was handled, my wife and I do not plan to return to Massage Envy. I hope management at the Lemon Grove location and Massage Envy corporate review this situation, address the customer service concerns, and reconsider the cancellation fee. Customers experiencing a death in the family should be treated with basic compassion, dignity, and respect. read more

I'm giving 3 stars because Nancy has always taken great care of me during my pregnancy, and I truly love the prenatal massage. She's the only reason I keep coming back to this place. I also want to mention that Patricia did my massage today, and she was amazing as well. She is very knowledgeable about massage, and I truly appreciated her professionalism and expertise. However, the front desk staff are very rude. Today, I asked who my therapist would be since I forgot about my 9:00 AM appointment with Nancy. I didn't know who the next available therapist was, so they rescheduled me for 12:00 PM. I checked in around 11:50 AM and was still waiting at 12:05 PM. At that point, I asked the front desk staff member who I believe was new (I didn't get a chance to ask her name). She was about to answer my question when another front desk staff member named Ana responded instead, in a rude manner, saying they were preparing the bed and that I would receive the full service. I asked at 12:05 because they usually finish the massage 10 minutes early, which is a lot of time to lose. This is not the first time the front desk has been rude to me. Keep in mind, I missed my 9:00 AM appointment today and called right away to ask if I could still come in. They said yes but informed me that I would be charged half of the massage, which is about $40. I understand that missing the appointment was my fault, but $40 is still a lot. I've been wanting to cancel this membership for a while, but I was told I couldn't because I had to complete 12 months. I agreed. During my last visit, they told me I only had one month left, which would complete the 12 months, and that I could cancel after that. When I requested to cancel today, they said I couldn't because the owner wasn't available, but they would leave a note and the owner would contact me for confirmation. When I finally received a message from the owner, he said my membership wasn't over yet and that I had only completed 8 months. I explained that my membership started in September 2024 and that I had been coming here before I froze my account. I froze my account when I gave birth, and I specifically asked the front desk if freezing my account would cause any issues. They told me no and said that once I returned and unfroze my account, my previous months would still count. However, when I tried to cancel, it suddenly became an issue. When I checked the app, I noticed it was only showing visits from 2025. I told the owner that I have credit card statements showing I've been charged for more than 8 months, and that the front desk staff told me those months would still count once I unfroze my account and resumed booking. In the end, the owner still canceled my membership. He seemed nice, and the issue really came down to incorrect information given by the front desk and their poor customer service. I recently visited for a 90 minute massage with Cathy and a facial with Paige. Let me just start with how kindly I am always greeted at the front desk. And the place is so tidy and clean. I love that they have bed warmers too because I am always cold. Cathy was amazing. She had great communication with me and made sure I was comfortable. I really liked her technique, lots of flow and she hit all the right spots. I've heard great things about Paige and I was thrilled with my service. She has so much experience from doing the massage to telling you where your problem is and what's the cause and take the pain away. I only learned 2 years ago that a therapeutic massage prior to a chiropractic session would increase my result significantly. On a Sunday I was incapacitated and scared. A Sunday! What was I to do? I found Massage Envy on Yelp, after looking for personal referrals. They were open. They had availability. I went for just 20 minutes. She was waiting and ready after I explained in detail my situation. Dani just relocated here (San Diego) and boy was I glad. That 20 minutes changed everything. Is 60 better? Sure. Is 90 better? This experience is at Lemon Grove - The person that helped me was nice but not so friendly as you would thought it would be. No eye contact was made. The person kept repeating the same thing even when I wanted more understanding. It ended up being straight to the point which I appreciate but no sympathy or empathy. Other than that, I loved my prenatal massage! I had to cancel my membership due to budgeting and affordability. Give ME a try if you would like!
