I couldn't believe what I experienced--it's a definite no for me! After reading the glowing reviews on Groupon, I expected a soothing escape, but the reality was shocking. We purchased a foot massage, only to be led to what can only be described as their break room. Trust me I do not have high expectations for foot massage places. But i do expect cleanliness, clear lines between break rooms and foot massage rooms. It was an odd experience that I do not wish to repeat. The room was cluttered, with remnants of personal activity everywhere. Near the makeshift foot massage beds were personal blankets carelessly tossed aside, and the trash was overflowing, food storage, security tv camereas, phone chargers. This is where the employees sleep between clients. creating an unpleasant atmosphere. Honestly, I couldn't make this up if I tried! 8/14/15 I came in today feeling horrible, tense, and stressed and I left feeling like a completely new person! My massage therapist, Sofía, was absolutely incredible. She worked out all my knots, released all the tension, and made me feel relaxed from head to toe. This was hands-down one of the BEST massages I've ever had. I even tipped her $20 because she truly went above and beyond. Next time I come in, I will 100% be asking for Sofía. I was sad to leave a poor review as I was hoping that I could frequent this place as it is near to my house, but unfortunately it was a letdown. My masseuse didn't apply any pressure to my massage and was literally just rubbing me as soft as like my five year old daughter might massage me. Then when I asked her to increase the pressure, she increased it way too much and dug into my spine with her elbow to the point where I jerked and said, ouch, and asked her not to do that. My husband left feeling good but the next day his back is hurting pretty bad not sure if it was the masseuse or something else. I hurt my back the day before and I needed some relief for lower back pulled muscle. No appointment, I just walked in hoping for an opening. I was greeted very professionally by a very friendly masseuse named Hellen . She spent extra time on my back , started off gentle and worked up the pressure to get the knots out.She hit some other muscles and spots I was surprised at the total feeling of relief when she was done. What a waste of my time and money. My sister took off without giving tip, bcoz of unprofessionalism. Im polite thou I still give them tip. stop getting up and attending to other customers. Getting up to answer phone or when new customer comes in the front. Leave a sign in front and lock the door and say appointments only then use a headset to answer calls. Very High Quality for the price. I noticed these $20 for 1/2 hour spas popping up around San Diego so I decided to check this one out and was shocked at the high quality work that the theripist put in. I was finishing a project for a client in the Lemon Grove area and just popped in and apparently they just opened yesterday. (Still had the new carpet smell). I can not speak for all theripist, but the small woman that worked on me seemed to be trained in some type of acupressure technique. I would have asked her name, but I fell asleep. (Hope I didn't snore :-) Before I dozed off I did take note of how she would press on a seemingly unrelated area such as the crease in my arm - opposing my elbow and it would release tension in my hand. She seemed to be trained in some pressure point technique. They also have rails on the ceiling to support walking on the back muscles, so I had to try that. I have to say that part was amazing, but trusting a stranger to do that was a little out of my confront zone. In conclusion it seems to be a great, low cost, quick fix. As long as they keep up this type of work ethic they should do well. I am used to Massage Envy, but I am a bit hesitant to recommend any spa, because you never know. But today it was nice and very, very relaxing. If you go I hope you have a similar experience. read more

Sooooooo....I just went to L Massage (been going for years and have a friendly relationship with the manager) in Lemon Grove and had a horrific experience. The woman who greeted me at the door stared at me, looked me up and down without speaking and then finally asked me what I wanted. I gave her my card to pay and she told me cash only. I said okay, I'll go to the atm. She said "you come back tomorrow." I said oh, are you closing? She said "yes - 9pm" (it was barely 8pm and I was getting a 30 minute massage). I had already called earlier in the week and was told that their hours are from 10-10. Google actually says they're open until 11. I went to the atm and came back, gave her my money and she said "a guy for you." I told her I didn't have a preference for male or female and she repeated "a guy for you - wait 5 minutes" and walked me to my room. I was barely undressed when she came back, opened the door and told me he wouldn't be ready until 9. It was 8:25. I said okay, should I leave and come back? Or should I wait? She didn't answer, but kinda shrugged her shoulders and shut the door. I got dressed, walked out to the lobby and she was standing there with my money in hand, telling me again to come back tomorrow. The manager walked out from the very back at that point and greeted me - we said hello and she said something to the other woman. Manager said to me, you want a massage with a man? I told her it didn't matter to me. I'm pretty sure, she turned to the woman and said something like "oh, why don't you do her massage?" It was in another language so I'm not sure. The woman became angry, said something really hostile sounding (raised her voice and had a very angry tone and facial expression) waved her arm toward me with a look of disgust on her face and turned her back to me. When I asked the manager what had just happened and what was said, she said "oh, I'm calling someone else to come in. Can you wait 15 minutes?" I asked her again, what just happened? Because she looks very angry. Manager: "she's not angry with you - she's just angry because we need to call for more help." I told her I was leaving and would be back another day. I purchased a 45 min massage and the massage was very mediocre. I asked for a deep tissue massage because my muscles were tense. My masseuse was not attentive to my needs at all and didn't seem to care to make sure I was comfortable. I felt like that once I left I had the same level of tension when I started. I've had better massages at nail shops. The massage was not worth the money and I felt that it was less than 45 minutes. Once the massage was complete the masseuse asked pointed at me and insinuated that she wanted a tip and I told her I'm ok with not leaving a tip. When I said no she began to angrily yelled in Thai at the other masseuse. Hands down, one of the best massages I have received. I come back as often as possible because the quality never goes down. I personally ask to be walked on, and that takes care of the knots on my back and shoulder. I'm always in a rush, so I wind up doing a half-hour back massage for $20. +$10-$20 tip. Get a foot massage. They soak your feet and you get an hour back massage for 25 or 30. You do this "mini" massage with all clothes on. They put a white sheet over you. They massage your head then body. They don't even touch your feet. You do this in a cot, in a room where other customers may be also. I've only been there where 1 or 2 others are in the room. Now I have done the full body real massage with clothes off and it was $75(the price may have increased) you walk down this lowly lit hallway that seems sketchy at best. This place is really unprofessional, if I knew what I knew now I wouldn't ever step foot in another place like this. We paid for a couples massage meaning we wanted to be in the whole room. We paid 20 dollars more than what was on the price sheet. The lady was touching my butt a little longer than the normal. When we first arrived she was trying to get my partner to go in the room alone and were like no we want to be together as though it's a couple massage. Anyways the lady kept saying things to my partner like oh you have nice muscles and just unprofessional. I'm not even sure if this is a license place now that I'm on school for this. Well I have been here 3 times now but after tonight I won't go back. I paid $92 for 90 mins which is a good deal. The massage was decent for the most part. Like many others in here, I too was told to leave a bigger tip. I had left $23 for a $92 service which I think is fair. She also ended the massage 15 mins early. That bothered me more than the tip issue because that is not what I paid for. It's very bad practice to cut a client's session short! Took our mom here for a birthday massage. She opted for the $20 foot massage and I chose the #3- 1 hour massage ($40). First of all, my mom was left alone for over 10 min soaking her feet while the ladies congregated in the front. My massage was decent for what I paid. After putting my clothes back on the masseuse returned with water and asked for her tip. I handed her $11 and she asked for more money. I told her that she just got a 25% tip but she motioned that was not enough. I gave her $2 more and she still demanded more. I walked out of there insulted that they could ask for more. Saw a good review & nearby so I decided to stopped in and check it out. The place is clean and I was promptly greeted. I paid and they showed me to my massage chair. I was then told it's going to be 10-15 mins wait....okay I waited. .Then I finally got someone to start my massage. More people came, and the place started getting rowdy because the lady who was massaging me was busy talking. She left my massage 3 times during my visit. We was right on with the level of intensity. It might just be a routine that they had to follow but I didn't really enjoyed it. 3.5 stars for me, but giving 3 stars is too harsh, they were nice....just not really professional in terms of talking in chinese. I got to soak my feet in hot water and they gave me a heat pack (I normally don't get offered this) for my back. The masseuse was nice and did a good job.
