In the 10 months I've lived in MN, I have seen 3 or 4 different therapists here. I would HIGHLY recommend every single one of them. Update - October 2025: If you're thinking about going here, don't walk -- run in the opposite direction. I had a bad experience before (scroll down for that gem) but decided to give them another chance because, hey, maybe lightning doesn't strike twice, right? Spoiler: it does. I drove an hour -- yes, a full hour -- because every decent place near me is booked solid. I scheduled online with (I believe) someone named Brittany -- it definitely started with a "B." I was excited, relaxed, ready for some actual self-care. I walk in, and the front desk woman looks at me like I just showed up to the wrong planet. She "doesn't see" my appointment. A few clicks later, she discovers it was cancelled because the massage therapist had resigned. Lovely. Apparently, the manager "called me yesterday" to tell me that. Except -- plot twist -- they didn't. Not a call, not a voicemail, not a text, not even an email (and I know they can email/text because that's how they confirmed my appointment). Checked my call log -- nothing. So either their phone system dials into the void, or someone decided to play "pretend phone tag" with me. The woman at the desk apologized and promised the manager would call me the next day to deal with this. And guess what? Yep. Radio silence. No call, no message, no smoke signal (just like two days prior). At this point, I can only assume they made up the whole "we called you" story to cover themselves. Because who in their right mind cancels a paying client's appointment and thinks, "eh, no need to leave a voicemail"? So yeah -- lesson learned. I'll happily spend my hour drive going literally anywhere else. I wish I could give it less than 1 star because this place should be avoided at all cost. Previous Review: The whole experience was disappointing, but the massage was especially. The paperwork was uncomfortable because they sat with me with a tablet as I completed things such as my medical history, etc. They could have had more hospitality, it was clear someone was being trained in/new. The massage was horrible, it was more of a rub than a massage. She was in her externship and had mentioned that she's done 130 massages so far. That is something I think that either should be discounted or told to a client ahead of time. I went in for pain due to knots in my back making it so I couldn't lift my arm/shoulder. I had told her that was the reason I was there. When she asked if I was there to relax, I specifically told her "no, it is to deal with pain". I also said I would like to focus on my back and neck to remedy that pain. She suggested a full body with a focus on my back. That seemed fine to me since everything is connected, and I've had other masseuses suggest the same (and did focus on my back). She focused mainly on my arms and legs, and spent less than 5 minutes "rubbing" my back. She also wasn't all that smooth with it. When she did the glute area with the sheet over my body, her hands bounced instead of smoothly massaging. There was zero resolution for my pain. Throughout the massage, she kept mentioning the word "relax", saying things such as, "I'm so glad you came to Massage Envy to relax", which told me she didn't listen to my concerns at all. She was extremely soft handed, which is what I mean when I said she was rubbing. I assumed she would use more pressure to work out the knots in my back once she got to it, but she just did the same motions rubbing my back. Nothing seemed to focus on working out the knots. I also had realized that she never asked me where or which side the pain was on. That should have been my first indication that there was an issue. When I left, I was about in tears because I had taken time out of work to get relief from the pain, but there was zero relief. I went home and laid on tennis balls to try to work them out. I would say it was money wasted and will never go to a Massage Envy again. After the massage, I looked at reviews and see she has been mentioned in other poor review. She was personable, but definitely needs work on her trade. read more

I found out about massage envy from a friend of mine who recommended their services. I felt that since it was conveniently located and had positive reviews that I would be in good hands and I was right! Mary is my massage therapist and I love her! She is thorough, kind, and hilarious!. I go in achy and tense and I leave feeling refreshed. My sinuses even get a session when I am done with Mary. The customer service is great, the amenities are nice, and that is that. I would say that yes, it doesn't have the whole spa like experience when you get a robe and slippers to change into instead they just get down to business. They leave you to undress to your comfort level and then come in to get your session started. Thus it's a no frills type of place but that is just what I need for the right price. So I basically signed up for a membership and look forward to using it to my hearts' content. read more

As a former massage therapist who worked here for 2 years, the therapist here are underpaid and overworked. Therapists are really great here but only get 5 mins between each client, which isn't enough time to decompress. They only make between 20 and 30 dollars per hour. I was fired without any warnings because I was emailing my doctor about my health in the room before my shift and manager Karen I mean, Jodi didn't like that I said that I was handling business. I never had any write ups before this. They fired the all black front desk staff all at once. Hmm, I wonder why? I want all the therapist at Massage Envy to get paid what they deserve. To all the current and future clients, just know that your therapist isn't receiving the compensation that they deserve for all their hard work. read more

I had never had an "authentic" massage experience. Just random places like on the beach when on vacation, or in a chair at the mall. But I understand the difference now and why they come so highly recommended by my co-workers. I spend my entire work day on my feet and get awful back pain. This massage definitely met my expectations and helped with that pain. I didn't toss and turn at all that night or since. I'll be back again though to keep the pain away. Happy with my experience at Massage Envy! Careful about parking in the adjacent garage though. While they validate parking for up to 2 hours, if you go a minute over which apparently my visit took me over by a few minutes, they charged me $25 friggin dollars as if I'd stayed the entire day!!!! read more

My daughters and I had two massages and a facial. The therapists were wonderful. We were all very satisfied with their work. The location is clean and approachable however the receptionists were not very inviting and spent their time on their cellphones. The biggest negative was that the temperature in the facility was ICE COLD! I mentioned it, but it was as cold on our departure as our arrival. To have a relaxing massage on a warm table followed by such a cold temperature totally dismissed the experience. read more

Do not sign up for the membership. They charge you monthly and never have any availability downtown. You then you rack up the credits and they don't make the cancellation process easy. By the time you cancel you only get a couple months to use all the credits you racked up and they DO NOT grant extensions even though it's impossible to use credits because of said availability issues. On top of all that the front desk and manager is completely rude and dont understand the issue is on them. Not worth it for mediocre massages. read more

Don't do the microderm facial! From beginning to end it is 25 mins which includes you getting settled in and it costs you two sessions. Think about it- even for prepaid sessions, it's a $100 for about 15 mins of work. So about $400 an hour. I know surgeons that don't make that kind of money. I'm not saying it is a scam- but it feels scamy. They'll make it sound like an enhanced service and upsell you, but it takes away time from your normal service and you will get much less- no mask, much less cleansing, no massage, nada! It makes sense as a therapist- two sessions credited for 1/4 the work. Just don't do it- then the therapist had the audacity to try to sell me on products that she supposedly used on me. Not good business practice... first and only time going to this Massage Envy... just a failing business model coupled with poor communications. I walked out of there with a feeling of getting robbed. read more

Massage Envy is known for their monthly subscription service - for $59/month you can get a massage anytime. There are also deals where you can add on additional massages and facials, or extend your massage at a lower rate. I personally like this location - I never had an issue getting a same-day appointment (sometimes an appointment within an hour). I also showed up a few minutes early and my therapist was ready for me the minute I walked in, offered me water and a restroom break and swooped me to the back. Obviously each therapist varies a bit, but they make you feel really comfortable on your first visit (and every visit), asking you to identify problem areas and going through sensitive areas (scalp, feet, etc). The table warmers are so relaxing, I wish I slept on one every night! read more

Wow downtown Minneapolis massage envy you guys need to get your stuff together! I called two weeks ago to get a facial and he told me you didn't have a facialist and he took my number to call me when you did. I just called today and again you tell me you don't have a facialist and that if I give you my number you'll call me when you do. That's hilarious. Why did I sign up for a membership if I can't go to the convenient massage envy near my house very shady. Hire a facialist! I would really like to ask for my money back since I'm owed many services because I haven't been in there for many many many months. The massages that I've received from there have been great and the couple times I've been able to get in there for a facial they have been wonderful but this is ridiculous! read more

I haven't had a massage for a while. I've been avoiding them for a while as I had a bad uneven experience that left me more stressed than when I went in. I apparently hadn't been to massage envy in quite a few years so they gave me the introductory rate. The massage therapist for my deep tissue massage is named Mary. She has some seriously strong hands. She was only using medium pressure and it was the first time I have ever needed a massage therapist to lessen the pressure. I had gone in there for some chronic neck pain of about a month that was getting worse by the day. Mary found the giant knot of muscle tension and put a hurting on it. I'm sore all over from Mary's ministrations but only in the best way possible. I'm not usually a sucker for sales pitches and usually they really annoy me but I ended up signing up for a 6 month massage subscription as I have a feeling on this marathon training journey will need to involve some serious massage work needs. read more

Don't do it. Choose a different massage clinic. The staff is so rude and I've had two massages there so far (because they talked me into signing up for the "plan" on my first visit - big mistake) and was miserable for both of them. Also, they tell you before you sign up for the plan that you can "gift" any of your massages to someone else any time, but what they don't tell you is there is a $10 transfer fee. I am so upset that I cannot get out of this contract for a whole year. Big mistake! And one I will not make again! Don't do it!! read more

This is about the reception area - not about a massage. I went in to see about a gift certificate. I was not greeted for about 7 minutes. There were half full water cups probably from the previous day as I was there right at opening, There was a large key ring on the reception desk - not sure if they were personal or keys to the actual office but anyone could have walked out of there with them. There was an open package of food (breakfast) that was obviously being eaten (who eats in a reception area where guests/clients/customers are being greeted??). The computer was not in a locked state and I could easily see the schedule for the day (I didn't look close enough but I'm sure there was client information - names and phone numbers). It does not give me a great sense of overall cleanliness or security when the front of the house is such a mess. read more

The guy who I dealt with was so rude. I was asking him questions and he was acting like I was attacking him and was arguing with me about a phone number. He was so unprofessional and just mean. I have had terrible experience in the past with them so I stopped going. It doesn't make my me relaxed or think about getting a massage there. I asked if I could come in still just late, knowing that I wouldn't get the full time because it was my fault, and she was so rude about it. I didn't want to come in at all because it definitely was not going to be relaxing at all after talking to her. Had my first session this afternoon. Online scheduling isn't perfectly in sync with the office scheduling....they did call and I had to re-schedule, but it was within an acceptable time frame, however this sort of low tech intro to the company was a sloppy minus. The service by the massage therapist, Devin, on the other hand, was respectful, helpful, powerful, and positive. read more
