I have never experienced worse customer service anywhere. I have been a member for years. Mostly because I can not get appointments that work with my schedule and have about 12 credits that I will never be able to use. I called three times so far to cancel. First I was told the manager would call me back. No call. Second time I was told manager would call me Tuesday. No call. A week later during my third call with the same person I spoke to the second time I was told the manager was as on vacation and of course I can't expect her to call during her vacation. Meanwhile I have been charged another monthly fee while I have been trying to cancel. The manager, JAMIE, at this property is horrible. Unprofessional, rude and needs training in Customer Service. She signed me up for a 3 month contract. She provided a date for me to call her on to cancel. I tried to get in contact with her 7 times. She didn't call me back once. I had to show up in the store to actually start the process. When I asked her why she never got back to me she said "I am doing it now." No apology just attitude. The service providers are excellent. I had left a good review in the past due to finding a very good masseuse at the ME OS,NY. However, my masseuse had left. I called to cancel and spoke to Jamie, the manager on January 14, 2025. She said I can't cancel over phone, but she'll call me back because she's very busy. I told her I'd like to speak before my next scheduled auto deduction on January 28th. She never called and I was charged. I made an appointment to use another masseuse because I was billed. I asked in person to cancel on the day of my appointment, February 15, 2025. Once again, I was told I can't cancel without speaking to the manager because I need to get a form from her and return it to her in order to cancel. I told Cory, the receptionist that is insane since she never returned my call the first time! She said she'd put me on her call list. That was on February 15th...still no reply. I contacted corporate....that got me no where too! So, hence I had to put a stop payment on the ME auto deduct. Whoever owns this franchise in Oceanside should know the manager is inept and not an asset to their business. I would give 0 stars if I could. First of all, the woman who gave the massage (which I can't say was even a massage... it was more like a patting on the back) came to work late that day which resulted in the 60 minute massage I booked (minus the 10 minutes of consulting) to only be a total of 40 minutes! When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told she wasn't in and she would call me the following day. Well she never called. Gave her a week to call back, but nothing. I had to call back only for her to say she was too busy to return my call. Really, that's your job, but then again it just confirms my point that Oceanside Massage Envy is poorly run. After calling for the 3rd time, finally got to speak with the manager only for her to tell me I booked a 45 minute massage. Number one, I never asked for a 45 minute massage, and if that was the case why was I charged $130.??? According to their website, a massage for $130 is for 60 minutes NOT 45 minutes (or I should say 40 minutes in my case). The manager at Oceanside not only neglected to return any calls from the get go, but when I finally spoke to her, she twisted the truth. Very poor customer service, and overall Just a bad experience! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE I came here with my sister which was a treat for my 25th birthday. Long story short we booked a hot stone massage but it was not available when I arrived instead I opted for 90 minute massage. I wasn't satisfied and before I could even leave they offered me a credit for next time. Thankfully my sister spoke to the manager and was able to get me complimentary massage since my experience didn't go as expected. Special thank you to Talata! I'm 25 now but boy did she make me feel like I was 18 again! She was professional, kind, and a natural born-healer. Unfortunately, I am dissatisfied and would not recommend this business. However, my therapist is excellent, but it is nearly impossible to get an appointment even the same week when I am experiencing pain. Today I called to see if they had any cancellations for tomorrow and they told me they had one this evening so I took it due to the amount of pain I've been in . While trying to get their after work, a major road was closed totally do to a giant sink hole. When i I called to tell them that I wouldn't be able to make it, they told me they were going to take half of my money away because I didn't cancel the day before. This business has caused me more stress and anxiety and not to mention my money in which now they owe me two months massages because they can't accommodate all their customers..... oh wait they took half of one away ! First time at this massage chain and last time. So I had a gift card that was given to me for Christmas and finally decided to finally use it. I went in for a facial and a Massage. Let's start with the massage. The massage wasn't all that great. I was expecting to get hands on massage and instead I got a lot of pressure point massaging. Wasn't satisfied with that. Wish it was more of a massage. Facial: This was my first time getting a facial. To my knowledge facials are to cleanse the face scrub and and extract. Right. Well to start off the girl wasn't going to even take my mascara off had I not mentioned it. She did what she had to but with like maybe 5 extractions. I have little white heads that could've been extracted. This was more of a face massage than anything else. No mask no nada. When I'm don't my eyes are all black from the mascara like what were you doing. Your face is suppose to look "bright and plumppy the next day" as the girl told me. I had zero of that. I thought my face looked the same. But must say the facial girl was nice. I also had to pay for my services ahead of time which was odd. Because apparently their system was going to be working that d Very very very unsatisfied with my service for this. This was done 2/25/2019. I feel like I wasted my gift card on a service that wasn't worth it. I wouldn't even think of going there again. After this review the manager offered me to come back and repeat it with his exceptional fácial and massage person. Well I did. I took the offer and went back. I must say the guy that did my fácil this time did a amazing amazing job. My fave was actually glowing for almost 2 weeks no make up just mascara. And my massage person it was a great massage. I went to this location and as I entered I was overwhelmed with neat and tidy how the place was. I was approach by a staff member name Sarah, she was an amazing person cheerful , Calm, and Polite never met someone with great characteristics at a Massage Envy. I spoke to Sarah about how I need to get my mom a Mothers Day Present, she had splendid options on what I can do for her, after a great conversation I decided to go with a 3 month Gift card for my mom. The idea she gave me was terrific and definitely end up making my mom so happy that she enjoyed the gift very much, Never knew how much a staff member could provide such great service hands down 10/10. After trying several massage therapists, Ephraim is my favorite and I have been getting fabulous massages from him for about two years. I signed up for yearly memberships as it is more economical. I look forward to each massage (I get one monthly with my membership) and I absolutely love Ephraim! He has magic hands! And he is so nice! NEVER AGAIN!! My Massage Therapist actually makes my back hurt more. The Front Desk is unprofessional and are left alone with no manager on site to handle situations. I had to cancel last minute bc my husband has Covid and they wanted proof. When wanting to speak with a manager I was told the manager was out due to illness but will be in tomorrow. I also was told that my massages "expired" and I'd have to "eat" what was left on my contract. The Front Desk staff and manager also had me on a VIP list and only offered me times when I was at work. After many times of telling them that it's not going to work, the postit they had at the desk letting everyone know, numerous phone calls from them asking if I can come in during the day etc etc, everyone confirming that I'm off the list...I still get notifications. Not only have I now lost massages on my dime, you're all thieves, liars and nothing but walking human migraines. Shame on your extremely unprofessional staff! It's such a pleasure to know that when I come in everything is perfect. The bed is warm, she checks if I'm comfortable because sometimes you need to re-adjust your position. This was my third massage so I do have something to compare it to. My first massage was on Park Avenue in NYC, second was at a five star hotel in the Dominican Republic. So this place had big shoes to fill. They were having a special, 1-hour massage for $35 so a friend and I both tried it. My friend loved it & felt completely at ease...as did I... until....my massage therapist abruptly woke me up with some sort of cold liquid on my feet. I almost jumped out of my skin. She Purell'd my feet!!!! Since I only spent $35 + tip, I didn't say anything and will only return when they have specials. Pros: - flexible scheduling - super sweet staff Cons: - walls are so thin, too many outside distractions - I accidentally found out there was a transition room after I got dressed and paid. I was gifted several sessions from my daughter in Az.- I was recommended to go to the Oceanside location from my girlfriend who has be going there for awhile and has nothing but good things to say about the way things were run along with a great masseuse named Ken. So off I went and was greeted by a gentleman who was very warm and personable and helpful as I had a problem that he helped me with before I even walked thru the door. Then I had a terrific massage from Ken, and I specifically saw him as I have several physical issues, and for the first session, he did wonders. Can't wait for my next session. When I got ready to leave at the front desk the young lady was very helpful and professional. When I asked to see the owner as to discuss a membership, it happened to be the gentleman who met me at the door. (There is a recommended 20% tip on the non-member rate of $96 per massage). I have been a member for over a year and enjoy every visit. The massage therapy ranges from relaxation to medical to sports to sweedish. You can use the same therapyst or try a new one each month. The Oceanside location has friendly and helpful staff, and wonderful highly trained professionals who really get to know their clients. I am lucky to have found a place to heal and relax. I made a couple's appointment two months ago, and the day before the appointment I get a call that mine has to be cancelled because the person I was booked with had an emergency. I asked that they cancel someone else's and instead leave my double appointment and the girl on the phone couldn't even comprehend. Never booking with this place again. Candace is very attentive to my needs. She asks at the beginning of the session where I need to be worked on the most, and makes sure that she works on those spots. However, she also does a fantastic full body massage. I have been going to ME for about 4 months now and always look forward to my visit, and dread when it's over. I am actually writing pertaining to the Farmingdale New York location. I was very dissatisfied as a customer. I had a membership there for a little over a year and almost every month without fail my massage appointment was short about 15 to 20 minutes each time. They are supposed to allow for 5 minutes before and five minutes after for changing. It is supposed to be a 50 minute massage in total. I found that no matter which therapist I used my appointment always started late and finished early. If it was supposed to start at 7 p.m. I didn't get called in until about 7:07pm then I had to change and then it started just to end at ten to 8. Absolutely ridiculous. not to mention I was also charged twice in one month when I put a freeze on my account. I was told I wouldn't be charged and I was charged not once but twice. Then it took them a week to credit my money not to mention I had bills due and didn't have the funds. when closing my account Erin the manager had asked me why I chose to cancel my membership and I wrote on the cancellation form as well as told her on the phone that I was dissatisfied with the timeframe of my massage and that the money I was paying did not equal out to the time that I was being worked on. She didn't seem to care because she never did anything about it, never investigated it, and never got back to me with a way to help resolve the issues. the owner of the location is just as useless and he is not friendly at all. I feel bad for the therapist here because there are obviously not being held responsible for their actions and therefore they are the cause of them losing clients because they don't know what an appointment mean and they obviously cannot tell time.I sure hope that anyone that has to deal with Erin in the future have better luck than I did because she is a horrible manager I'm clearly doesn't care about the well being of that store. I found that Floris salon and day spa actually give better massages and they are a whole hour and they don't short you time for your money. with the way the economy is now I am surprised that they have done nothing to resurrect the problem. The reason I'm giving this place 1 star is because of the front desk staff. I've been a member for almost a year at this location and my massages have been average. I do highly recommend Ephram, he was amazing and listened to me when I asked him to focus on certain areas of my back. My problem with the front desk staff was that I booked an appointment for Thursday at 6pm and they call me Wednesday asking where I was. They made a mistake with my appointment and regardless of the miscommunication they want to charge me a cancellation fee because I didn't show up. I work Wednesdays until 6pm in manhattan why would I book an appointment that day?? I will certainly not be returning to this place anymore I am very unhappy, to say the least, especially with the staff they were very rude. The therapists, though not all have great massages, were very nice..and the only reason I give this place any stars. read more
