The massages are very budget friendly...which is probably the only reason I would ever go back. The front desk did not impress me with their service. They seemed like they just got out of bed and wanted to go home. They didn't really go out of their way to be nice. The massage was pretty good. I mean, how can you go wrong? I showed up on time, (15 min early) and my massage was only 50 min. I thought it was supposed to be for an hour?? I obviously wasn't going to complain over 10 minutes. The lady who gave the massage seemed like she didn't speak a drop of english, but she gave me a cup of water, thanked me and walked away. I still gave 25% tip. Granted today was freezing, but it was very cold in the building. Also, I emailed to set up an appointment through their website, no response. Called in for an hour & 1/2 massage, only got an hour day of. Didn't get overcharged but only got the hour. Everyone was very nice but you can tell they are unorganized and don't pay attention to detail. Was thinking about signing up but they didn't blow me away. Will be looking elsewhere read more

I went here awhile back, haven't had a massage in a long time. I figured since I'm on yelp I might as well review my last massage. So the place is clean and friendly. I went to Kristen I believe, and she was really sweet. younger girl who I actually felt comfortable with. Not to be rude, but I don't want a massage from some manly looking massage therapist. She focused on my main area in need, almost my shoulders the entire time. She was really nice, I would go again.. its been a while and I live in the city now... but hey.... if you're on Long Island in Long Beach and you want a relaxing massage from a sweet, hard working girl. Ask for Kristen. If you've never been to a massage Envy... the introductory rate is great. I think $50 for the first 1 hour massage... and then the price rises after that one. Go for it. read more

Been a while since I had a massage here, but never wrote a review. This place had a deal for a $50 massage for 1st time customers, so I figured I'd take advantage. The massage therapist was really bad!! I had a 4pm appointment, got there 10 minutes before and filled out the bs paperwork. Therapist came out and got me at 4 and took me to the room. Took her almost 10 minutes to come back!! How long does it take for a guy to get undressed and get under the sheet!! It was summer and I was in shorts and a t-shirt no less!! I asked for a deep tissue massage. She proceeded to give me a Swedish massage and for whatever reason, was rubbing every area of my body as fast as possible! Didn't feel good and didn't make sense. I asked her to go slower 3x's!!! She first said ok, but ever changed how she massaged. After the 3rd request, she got offended and said this is how I massage! I've probably had 100 massages in my life and never had such a poor massage! On top of the crappy massage, she ended my session close to 10 minutes early!!! After the massage, I cleaned the oil off, got dressed and proceeded to the front desk...it was still 4:55!! An hour massage and I got maybe 45 minutes! Told the front desk staff and they offered me more time with a different therapist, which I guess was fair, but I just wanted to get out of there. This was the worst massage I have ever had, and I have had many. The therapist's nails were sharp and prominent. I asked for extra work on calves and feet due to a lot of running lately. The therapist briefly worked on them, the feet always through a sheet (and no, there are no skin problems or other reasons she would want to do this). As I only had one massage, I wont begin to rate the massage but I will agree with Angela V. She is 100 % correct when she says the management at the Oceanside location is horrible. I had the opportunity to call them the other day to cancel my membership which I had for one year. Due to personal problems and illness I was not able to have my massages for the past year and had called to cancel my membership which started on 1/17/10 and was to end 2/16/11. When I called last week to tell them to stop taking any further funds from my checking account as my contract was over, I was informed by an employee that I had opted for auto renew. I told her I would not have automatically renewed as originally signing the contract without knowing how the services would be , I would never sign an auto renew . She informed me that I would have to pay for March regardless of my desire to cancel the contract. .I told her I was canceling due to illness and, I would not pay for March. She stated that too bad I would have to pay. I asked to speak to a manager and was told she did not have a phone number for management and told me to go look online to find that information. I am sick , I did not need such grief at this point. She also informed me I initialed to renew. I don't recall initialing any statement to auto renew, but I do remember when signing the contract it was just sign here, the contract was not at all explained and I'm quite sure had the part about any auto renew been touched upon in detail I would not initial. I see the contract she faxed and still do not recall putting these initials here but then again I was very trusting and excited about this new venture. In the future I will surely be very careful and request a copy of what I sign because I did not get a copy of the contract and believe it was to be mailed to me. I had to request a copy be faxed to me because I do not have the original contract I signed although I did have other paper work associated with Massage Envy. I have no intention to pay any further fees as I was refused access to management contact information. Massage therapists are licensed by the state board of NY and certainly are under their laws .I didn't have access to a computer at that time and am now using my friend's and it was inappropriate for them not to give me management names and numbers to contact. I plan to call the professional licensing board of NY to ask if they feel I should have been given proper contacts. A sales associate said that if I presented a doctors note before 3 /17/11 that they would not charge me an additional month, yet they called my home and spoke to my friend and said they plan to take the money out of my account even though they know I am sick.They didn't even bother to verify who they were speaking to on the phone. I only had on massage in the whole year of my contract and explained this to them. They were not sympathetic to my illness and showed no concern for me. They were more concerned to extract additional money from me. Sad this is supposed to be a place where they are concerned for your wellness and relaxation. I would think twice before I would deal with a facility that doesn't have the management phone numbers or names and tells you to go find them on your own and doesn't even offer you a web site. There was no other place offered to me to vent hence I'm using this option. read more

It is very simple and easy to describe Massage Envy. HORRIBLE. The whole point of going there is to get away from lifes everyday pressures and stress. But they feel the need to add to it to. This place could definitely use an upgrade. The walls are super thin and you can hear everything going on outside your massage room. It's really hard to relax with people opening and closing doors and having conversations directly outside of your room. I booked a couples massage a week in advance for Valentine's Day, confirmed the couples massage the day before, confirmed the couples massage when we arrived, right before we go in for our "couples massage"...they separate us and tell us they do not offer a traditional couples massage. Well that would have been nice to know! I politely expressed my disappointment to my therapist and then again at the front desk and all they said was "yeah, they should have told you." And then proceeded to try and sell me a membership. Seems like they're pretty desperate for clientele. I emailed them directly to express how disappointed I was, mostly because it was Valentine's Day weekend and one of my gifts was basically ruined with the unpleasant surprise. I received a phone call the next day and the guy I spoke to was apologetic but then asked me if I wanted to come in again....for another $59.99. I would have taken the apology and been fine but he had to add another sales pitch in there and it was just a total turn off. I have been a member at the Oceanside Massage Envy since almost from the time they opened. The service has definitely gone downhill the past few months. The last time I called to try and schedule, I was put on hold for close to 10 minutes. Not exactly relaxing or welcoming. That being said, I try to book my monthly appointments with therapists that I know are decent. And there definitely are a few therapists that are very good but they are usually booked weeks in advance. The place serves its purpose, a no frills decent massage. However, I find their "tipping" guide to be quite distasteful. Initially, there was no sign at the register about tipping, then they put out a sign "suggesting" a 15-20% tip off the regular cost (as opposed to the membership cost) but now the sign requests a 20-25% tip off the regular cost. Aside from the fact that tipping should be at the customer's discretion, never have I seen anyone there for a "regular" cost massage. Everyone there is either a member or trying the "introductory" rate of $49. read more

First off no reflection on Julie massage therapist. Ok so I called on Tuesday afternoon told them I had gift card said wanted Swedish massage gave me appointment few hours late . When I checked in lady is like do you have your gift card I took out of my purse and was giving to her she then said oh no at the end of massage just checking see if you have. Now mind you they take credit card to book the appointment. Guy walks out took me in asks me what to work on and about pressure tells me if any concerns to let him know throughout massage. I was lying there waiting for it to start hear him rubbing his hands together and this went on for what felt like minutes. Then bed is moved up back down up again. Then more rubbing of his hands. Finally started and felt like rocks so I'm thinking ok rocks were hot on hands I've had this type massage in past but this felt awful. I asked him are you using rocks he replied no it's my elbow. Asked if he could do more Swedish massage with hands. He started rubbing hands together again and again. Then bed moved up and down and more rubbing of his hands. Started to use his elbow again on me. This continued for what felt like hours * asked numerous times please use hands not elbows and forearm. Bed was up and down more rubbing of his hands. I finally said I'm done this is too uncomfortable his reply is im so done with you im not the therapist for you. I was never rude it was almost funny but annoying cause should have been relaxing. So I check out told lady at front desk she tells me she will extend the Intro rate to me again. I'm dumb founded at this point like really I want to come back again wth. I said I won't be back then she said well try another therapist who do Swedish massage I told her that's what I asked for. She said she had some good massage therapists. Then said I will only charge you half for today. I went back again lol to use the gift card my friend who bought it for me felt horrible. So I went in today had good massage with Julie. While checking out lady at front desk reminds me again how she extended the intro rate to me 2x she tells me. Ok really I used half my gift certificate first time and I blame for front desk then massage therapist. I clearly said Swedish relaxing massage not trigger point. So she wasted my gift certificate. I paid today another 60 total and 30 last time. I had 20.00 tip for Julie but couldn't justify after wasting half my gift card. So only gave her 10.00 and I feel bad about it. Not her fault I ended up paying 90.00 for a 50 minute massage. read more
