Yes, the place is clean and new and the staff is friendly and professional, but that was one of the worst massages I've ever had. The therapist had no technique. He kept rubbing over the same areas too quickly over and over again until it became annoying. He didn't seem to have any clue about what was going on under my skin. I've had many massages where the therapist knew how to tell how a muscle was responding and knew how to apply the correct pressure at the right speed to release a knot. This therapist seemed to think that beating the muscle repeatedly was the way to go. Firm to deep pressure does not mean run over me with a train! Instead of walking out relaxed and a little less tight, I left there irritated and in pain. Then I had to endure the hard sell to get me to buy a membership. Also not very relaxing! read more

The facial was done by Leza. She made me feel so comfortable and educated me about my skin type. Bianca was my massage therapist. From start to finish she was amazing! Incredible experience. I came here for a stress relief massage and walked out of there super relaxed and content with the service I received. They were able to get me in same day without a previous appointment and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They were not pushy with the membership and made good recommendations given my problem areas. Manny did my massage and for the first time I had someone who knew what "light" pressure means! He even had pointers at the end for my stretching etc to alleviate pain. I loved this experience and will be returning! read more

I have been to this particular massage envy location three times and would give them a 5 for each experience. I have been to two other massage envys and this was not the case. I am 38 weeks pregnant and had my second prenatal massage with Michelle today. She is fabulous! The perfect pressure, focuses on the right areas, asks the right questions and makes you feel so comfortable. After my first massage with her I purchased their six month package and I am looking forward to continuing with her after the baby comes. Very welcoming front staff. Nice location. Comfortable and clean surroundings. Selma was my massage therapist. She was awesome. Tiny and petite, but don't let that fool you. She has tons of strength and leverage to work out all the kinks. She found all my muscle spasms and worked them out. She has a knack! Very knowledgable. Don't go see her- I want her for myself. I originally signed up at the Glendale location and was excited to see a much-closer Pasadena location open up. I think the Glendale location definitely runs smoother; if your getting a facial and massage they leave you in the same room and the workers come to you. At the Pasadena location they make you switch rooms 1/2 dressed. Also, at the Glendale location I was never pressured into purchasing the Murad products. The vibe was always like "if you need/want the product let us know and we'll help you out". The Pasadena folks always scheduled my facials last (I think) so they could push the product line on me. I even had one esthetician who talked non-stop the whole facial about what products I needed and why.ugh! As for the massage therapists..I feel like I've had at least 7-8 different girls at the Pasadena location that are just mediocre. I really liked Sanyu but she's out on a pregnancy/maternity something and won't be back for some time. She's the only therapist who I found was amazing. There is also a prenatal massage therapist who is really good but I cannot remember her name. I felt like the Glendale location had consistently really good therapists. The front desk people are super nice and helpful though and I really liked the vibe of the place in general but after living in Alhambra and being able to getting a massage for $20-40, I finally cancelled my membership. A little about that: to cancel you have to fill out a cancellation form, drop it off or fax it to the location you originally signed up at and it really does take them 30 days to cancel your membership! If the company believe in it's product, etc that much, why not make it as easy to cancel as it is to sign up?! read more

Saturday, i went for my massage and my regular masseuse was barely even touching my body as strongly as in a massage. I asked her if she was alright and she told me no, i asked what was wrong she told me that management called her into the office right before my massage and told her that a complaint was put in against her that she touched a client inappropriately. She stated that this is the 5th complaint about her inappropriately touching the clients. She stated that she did not touch anyone inappropriately. She started to cry, i told her to calm down and explain what is going on. She explained the problem is that anyone can put in a complaint against staff, about anything and it's your word against theirs. She revealed that a male client, asked her out on a date and when she rejected his advances, he put in a false allegations that she touched him inappropriately. This Massage Envy at 345 Lake unit 205 Pasadena has major issues it's a toxic environment for employees here are treated unfairly due too many false allegations of inappropriate touching, Gossiping amongst the employees at the front desk, lack of open communication with managerial staff, Favoritism and the like. The employees are all terrific outstanding and competent individuals who perform their job well under a difficult stressful work environment. Overall from my experiences with the various other masseuses here, no inappropriate behavior never occurred. Due to the mismanagement at Massage Envy, they are losing clients and employees at this location. I have filed a complaint with the BBB regarding the management of this establishment. read more

My husband and I are both members at this location and I highly recommend it. While it the monthly cost can seem off-putting at first, I've actually found that it makes scheduling totally hassle free and is worth not having to research day spas near me every time I want to get a massage or facial. I am currently pregnant and have ben going to Flor since my second trimester. She is amazing and has helped make the normal pregnancy aches and pains much more manageable. I also highly recommend Doug for when you have gone for a while in between massages or need a deeper tissue massage. read more

I love coming here! My husband loves Leti for his massages and he usually likes them pretty firm. I like a QUIET masseuse with strong hands but not a painful touch. I don't like to be sore the next day, but I don't like to have lotion lathered on me for an hour either. Neither of us have ever been disappointed at this location! As with other reviewers, the massage here is average to above average. Getting the membership is foolish though. I got a membership, didn't go for a few months. I never was called or reminded. Then when my credit card # changed and they could autobill me I got called daily. Can I use the hours they already billed me for...only if I continue to pay. There's no way to hold or slow down. My recommendation, just buy one at a time. No one likes long term contracts with other things like phones, why with massage when there are so many other places that do the same level of work. read more

Do NOT even try this place. They do NOT honor your original appointment for some reason. I made appointments for me and my wife for small wedding anniversary treat, but an employee called me on the day before the anniversary date, which was the appointment date, and told me I had a completely different and unknown therapist for my appointment. She kept telling me some lies and untruthful stories such as "I actually made it", "the original therapist was not available at the time of making appointment", and so forth. When I made the appointments, I made sure the correct appointment was clearly made. Besides, I made sure that the therapist had 3 other openings on that day and other good therapists were available around similar time frame. HOWEVER, she kept lying to me with nonsense. And, later on, she told me it was OVER-BOOKED!!! Wow.. I had to cancel the appointments the day before the anniversary and our anniversary got ruined. Moreover, there was no apology whatsoever. I received an introductory card in the mail for Massage Envy, and because of it's close proximity to where I live and the inexpensive price, I thought I'd give it a try. I get massages at least 1-2 a month. The fist thing is how friendly and professional the front desk staff are. The space was nicely decorated, quiet and not one of those cattle call places that some of the non spa places look like. The massage was good, especially for the introductory price of $49. I will definitely become a member. For $59 a month and to have the option to trade that out for a facial, I think I'll be getting a massage and a facial on a monthly basis. Great job Massage Envy. They're so shady- they always want all your information and they want to sign you up for membership- i don't know about everyone else but I don't have time for all that bullshit. I first reviewed this location in May 2011, and I haven't lost any of my enthusiasm for, first, the marvelous skills of massage therapist Lety. But on my last visit, having just shaved off the beard and mustache you see in my Yelp picture (need to get new photos!), I thought I'd try an "anti-aging facial." My aesthetician was Raquel, and although - like most guys - the idea of a facial and someone picking at my skin has VERY little appeal, she made the "picky part" really painless and the facial massage part heavenly. I saw Raquel for an hour after a two-hour massage by Lety, for a "Member" price less than you'd pay for a one-hour massage at some allegedly higher-end spas. I began to travel around to other local massage envys and have found the one on lake to be more pleasant and finally found a girl perfect for me. I have had severe neck and shoulder pain for many years because of the office and computer work I do. It is difficult sometimes to even turn my head from side to side without excruciating pain. The staff is super friendly and helpful and made me feel really welcome. My therapist Maritza did a great job relaxing me and listening to what I needed.
