So upsetting and disappointed with this location! This is my first time attempting to visit Massage Envy since prob over a decade and this is a reminder why I don't have membership anymore. I went bc I was gifted a session. I called and made an appointment and I show up 30 mins early bc I don't like being late and wanted to fill out all paperwork. They called me in morning but I don't get messages and I didn't know the girl was unavailable to go to work. Regardless my whole day was planned around this appointment and I'm sooooo upset and disappointed that I don't have this massage and will have to come back another day!! Extremely unhappy with this location I hope not all are like this. I hope when I calm down and do make it back that the service is ok. I'll review again later. Over the last several years I have had at least 6 different and wonderful therapists, both in Dallas, Tx and Santa Fe, New Mexico. They all have been excellent. I'm presently back in Dallas and found that the three Therapists I've tried here, Scott, Miguel, Luis & Tibi were, especially excellent. My only challenge is after a year or two once in a while they leave and start their own businesses. They are that good I've not only enjoyed every massage Iat Massage Envy, the front desk has always been friendly and helpful. Felicia the manager has always been exceptionally thorough and customer service focused. The locations are convenient,that's important to me & the monthly program as far as massages go are definitely worth the investment in yourself. 100% Plus and I've been going for Massages since college and that was 40 years ago. Massage Envy makes it easy, affordable and convenient for me. I also believe in tipping after the service and even with a tip, it still fits within my budget. As a guitarist & singer and during Scarborough Faire Renaissance Season, I go once a week instead of just once a month and when you do that, there is a discount when you are an annual monthly member. I've been going to this location for the last three years and they have the best staff! I sometime get overrun by life events and forget my appointments, and the front-desk staff will reach out to remind me. Also, if they notice that I may have "over-booked" appointments they call me so I can deconflict my schedule. The friendly and professional customer service starts at the front door and extends throughout your experience until you leave. I would not leave messages on their answering machine. Fairly often when you call during the day it will go to their answering machine. I have now had two incidences where I have left messages on their machine, once during the day, and once after hours, and the staff has claimed that they never got my messages, and the last time implied that I never left a message. I was violently ill and called in the middle of the night to inform them that I could not have a massage the next day- my appt wasn't until 3:30 pm but I wanted to give them the maximum amount of notice. I notice that they called at my appt time (I was finally sleeping at that time). I called to follow up and to explain that I had left a message on their machine hours before they opened that day. The employee said that they didn't get it and went on to say that "my masseuse was worried about me". She implied that I didn't leave a message, which greatly offended me. This is the second time that they have not listened to messages on their answering machine. Given this situation, they should hire enough staff during working hours so that their phone doesn't go to a machine 1/3 of the time. read more

Ms. Lydia is amazing! I live in Austin, but am in Dallas for a month and a half for work. I had some neck pain due to maybe sleeping in a weird position and decided to make an appointment here since it's close to my hotel. The gentlemen working the desk were all so kind, especially one who I wish I knew the name of. He had an accent and was just so thorough and helpful the entire time, from beginning to end. I instantly felt welcomed. I hadn't mentioned my neck bothering me to Lydia because it actually felt better today than the last couple of days, but within a few seconds of her running her hand across my shoulders and neck, she knew immediately something felt off. She said it'd be best to do the entire massage face-up. You can tell she's very in-tune with the way the body works and she's clearly incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. She'd have me move my neck and wiggle my fingers to check for any discomfort and increased range of motion during the massage and constantly checked in to see if I was feeling okay. She's also incredibly funny! I'm not used to talking much during a massage, but it actually made this experience a million times better. She explained her reasoning for every movement. I wish she practiced in Austin, but I hope I can get in to see her again before I go back home. I feel so much better and my neck discomfort is gone. So glad I came here! read more

Wife was told that the contract she was signing was something that she could cancel at any time. When she tried to cancel, she was told that she was obligated to pay for a full TWELVE MONTHS OF MEMBERSHIP?! The reason she wanted to cancel (besides the fact that she had multiple bad experiences with both the therapists AND the desk staff) was that they could not accommodate a rescheduling. Since there were no other time slots available for the day in question, they informed her that she would be charged...for the service that she couldn't make...and wanted to reschedule, NOT cancel. FYI, this request was made only a measly 20 hours in advance. Bottom line: DO NOT SIGN A MEMBERSHIP WITH MASSAGE ENVY. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR MONEY. CERTAINLY DO NOT BUT GIFT CARDS FROM THEM AS THE ONLY REASON THEY SELL THEM IS TO BULLY THE GIFTEE INTO A MEMBERSHIP. AND DEFINITELY DON'T EXPECT THE STAFF TO BE HELPFUL OR REASONABLE. Oh and before y'all respond to this review to try and make yourselves look better, I'm well aware that I was rude to you on the phone. I finally had a chance to schedule a deep tissue massage using my Massage Envy subscription, but, unfortunately, it was the worst massage I've ever had, and I've been a member for almost four years. The attendant (Megan) started 15 min late (4:45p for a 4:30p massage - I literally laid down at 4:30pm and quietly waited for 15 min) and spent the first 10 min gently massaging my head (not firm, just soft and awkward). Eventually, with no apology, she began the shoulder massage, but had very poor, soft, unusual technique. I mentioned to her at that point that she could pick up the pressure (I had confirmed with her before I laid down that this was a deep tissue massage). It got slightly better, but still seemed slow / ineffective. After burning most of the massage with overly oily, weird technique, she finally got to the lower body, but for a total of 5 min across both legs. In summary, it started poorly with a very late start, then no apology or communication beyond. Typically, the therapist will ask and eventually confirm with you the right pressure and technique. I communicated once to start the line of communication, but, unfortunately, she didn't seem to care about her effectiveness / my comfort. I should mention that lastly, unprompted, she suggested that I get a much longer massage next time (more than 60 min) because there are a lot of muscles to massage. She then, without looking back, exited the room. Very odd, and even she knew that she didn't get more than a few muscles. Credit to management, they asked how it went and promised a much better massage with a different therapist. They were receptive to my concerns and seem interested in making this right. They didn't make me pay for the massage as well which is the right move, but, unfortunately, I was really looking forward to getting worked on, and spent 20 min each way getting to the studio. Let's hope this next visit goes well! I sure hope so. I will provide an updated review after my next visit. read more

I received a gift certificate for Valentines Day - Yay! So I'll admit, I was a bit hesitant to try out this location because of the bad/lack of, reviews but I live very close so I thought I'd try it anyway. I thought, if I go in with a stellar attitude and a great energy, everything will work out perfectly and it did. I was 10 minutes early, something everyone should do if you go to a massage for the first time, or any time. I filled out a bit of paperwork and was taken to a little room to wait that was darker and quiet which was nice. Tibi, my massage guy, came out at 5 minutes before my appt. which allowed me enough time to undress and lay on the HEATED (loved it!), table and get my massage right on time:) I rarely go to a man because I'm more comfortable with women but I must admit they usually don't apply enough pressure and I leave unsatisfied. So anyway, I decided to try him out because quite frankly, he's the only massage therapist I could find at their location with good reviews! I'm so happy I chose him because he hit all the good spots in my neck/shoulders, something I told him I needed worked on when he asked. Actually, he spent a lot of time on my neck and shoulders because I told him I didn't really care if he massaged me anywhere else because that's all I cared about. I liked that he listened and did exactly as I asked. Many massage therapists don't do this and I'll never know why. They gals at the front desk also had me fill out areas I wanted and didn't want worked on before I went into the room. Something I really liked because I can tell a masseuse my problem areas and they almost always forget and start massaging all the wrong parts! I highly recommend Tibi as he has a great combination of firm pressure as well as relaxing techniques. I will definitely go back to him! I'm sure there are other great massage therapists at this and many other locations. It would be nice if other people actually took the time to write a good review for their massage gal/guy if they really like them at any of the locations as I see they all have low reviews. I see many of the complaints from other sites come from being a subscription holder at Massage Envy and not getting compensated properly. Perhaps corporate should look into either stepping up their game and being fair or doing away with paying a monthly fee? I'd rather pay as I go when I want a massage but it's unfortunate that business is suffering for the massage therapists because of this. I made an 8 AM appointment for this morning, 12/23, at the Preston Forest location of Massage Envy. I made this appointment with Whitney, a particular therapist, over 2 weeks ago because I had such a great experience with her last time I was in. I arrived at the location at 7:50 AM so I would be there in time for my appointment. The store was dark. No one was inside at the desk and the door was locked. I sat in my car until 8:02 AM, when someone unlocked the door. I checked in, and they sat me in the waiting room where I waited until 8:06 AM. At that time, one of the receptionists unceremoniously announced that Whitney was not there and I would be receiving a substitute. At 8:08, I was ushered to a room and was not introduced to the new therapist. At 8:12, my massage began. It was the worst and laziest massage I have ever received, complete with a 4 minute period where a Kleenex was placed on my eyes and the therapist held my head without moving. The massage was terminated at 8:57, even though it hadn't started until 8:12. I was on time. I should have been warned that my therapist was not there and been allowed to reschedule. I should NOT have had a 4 minute period of inactivity during my massage. My massage should not have been 45 minutes long because I was on time - that tardiness was the staff's fault, not mine. So, I was shorted 5 minutes of massage time PLUS the 4 minutes of "head-holding Kleenex time" for a total shortening of my massage of 9 minutes. (It was such a terrible massage, they might've been a blessing in disguise.) Anyway, I hope they this situation with my account. I expect to be compensated for my terrible experience. Rather than being relaxed prior to Christmas, I am now angry because of this establishment, and I wasted a lot of time. I'm still mad, 5 hrs later!! read more

I was coming here 3 times a week after work for a 90-min massage prior to having surgery in my right shoulder, arm, neck for thoracic outlet syndrome. Let me recommend Heather and Vy to do your massages. They are both, by far the best I have had to date. They both listen so well to what I wanted in a massage to get the best possible relaxation. Vy even went so far as to talk me down into a sort of meditated state to relax me further. All the people at the counter are so friendly and have come to know me by name. After my surgery, the owner even checked up on me to see how my recovery was and the employees were continually asking about me. Since none of them were familiar with thoracic outlet syndrome, they wanted to know as much as they could so they could potentially help me feel better before and after the surgery. I would recommend this location to any and every body. I just wish I could change my membership from the Old Town location to this one. (Is that doable???) I've had a facial here as well, amazing work! And she even turned me on to an OtC face wash that has been amazing on my skin. Nothing over the counter works that well usually, so I've had to turn to prescription treatments.. But this keeps my face super clear! And she recommended based on what she saw during my facial. I see all the bad reviews and I get it can be frustrating. I personally had a pretty good massage today with Whitney. She seemed a little nervous at first, but who am I kidding .. if these are the reviews people leave (and listening to lady at a counter repeat the same frustrated story probably 10 times in my 5 min of checking out) I don't blame anyone for being nervous. That being said, I was offered water and everything was relaxed and professional from my experience. Whitney did a great job at figuring out what pressure works for me and would check in to see if It was good every now and then. My shoulders and upper back can really tolerate intense pressure and the rest of my body I prefer more medium. She did a great job switching from medium to intense. I feel relaxed as a baby. That being said, I've had the membership previously and wouldn't recommend it. I don't like to be locked into a contract I can't get out of and prefer paying a little extra whenever I want a massage and go anywhere. All in all though, it was a good experience with Whitney, so don't let the bad reviews keep you from trying it... just don't buy a contract before testing it out a few times :) read more

This business processed the percentage of the tip on an amount equal to more than twice the amount of the actual price, and didn't inform me of that until after I'd paid the tip. To me that was misleading. I was charged $60 for 30 minutes. I paid $50 with a gift card, and 10.00 with my credit card. When the "SQ* TIPPY" screen presented me with an opportunity to pay a tip for the service (which was fine), I chose 20%. But after I'd paid the tip, I realized that the amount that had been computed was $25.19. 20% of $60.00 is $12.00. When I asked how and why I was charged for a tip of more than $12.00, I was told that the tip was based on another price. To me that was very misleading. At the least, it should have been disclosed clearly and up front that the tip % would be charged on an amount other than the actual price paid. I will not be going back. If that fact was clearly disclosed, then shame on me. If it wasn't clearly disclosed, then for me, that was very misleading. read more

Judge yourself! On the day of my appointment I woke up not feeling well (I was afraid that it might be Covid so, better to postpone than put others at risk). I called in a few hours prior to my appointment, to make them aware of the situation and to reschedule the couple's massage I booked. Isaac answered my call and after I explained the situation to him, I was told that I will lose 50% of my credit for not giving a 24 hour notice. After much back and forth, Isaac was able to reschedule the appointment for a few weeks later (due to Massage Envy's quarantine protocol). My girlfriend and I had been eagerly awaiting our massages, for what felt like months, but the day had come! We happily walk inside and tell the receptionist (Liz) we've arrived.. only to be told our names are nowhere on the calendar for that night AND the only record she had of us was from our initial appointment, which showed as "cancelled", not rescheduled like we were told. As you can imagine, we were both extremely confused because Isaac had told us we were confirmed for that day / time.. and even gave us the names of who our "appointment" was with?! We informed Liz of all of this, and she told us Isaac must've made a mistake or forgotten to put it in the system, etc., however there was nothing she could do and would have the manager (Felicia) give us a call to resolve the issue. Liz assured us this would be a priority but Felicia was out with Covid, so she wouldn't be able to call us for 3-4 days. After a week, we still hadn't heard from Felicia. We decided to give her the benefit of the doubt, since we knew she'd been sick. SIXTEEN DAYS later and we have YET to hear from Felicia.. or any Massage Envy employee for that matter! So my girlfriend decides to call them to try to figure out what's going on / if we can get any updates. She asked for Felicia and was told (by Carla), Felicia had "just walked in for the day" and needed to get "situated", then would call her back *eye roll* (it was mid-afternoon on a Saturday btw). Almost 3 hours later, Felicia calls back. After a very unproductive 10 minute conversation with her, there's still no resolution. The call ended with Felicia telling my girlfriend that her "Area Manager" would be reaching out in 24-48 hours... but was unable to provide the name, number, or email of this person for privacy / legal reasons? It's been almost a week since and no one has reached out (shocker) !! Speaking to Felicia there was no apology, no empathy for the massive inconvenience this whole situation caused us, and honestly I don't think she had any interest in making things right or coming up with a solution. She was combative and even tried to turn this whole thing into OUR fault by making a baseless claim that I had "threated" an employee??! The entire conversation was ridiculous and laughable. It's obvious Felicia doesn't care about customer service or professionalism. It's no wonder the employees act the way they do under her management!! Especially when that manager uses the excuse, "I don't know what goes on with my employee's", to dignify why she hadn't called??! I'm not sure, but isn't THAT the JOB of a manager??! read more

I went in for a massage today because the La Quinta Inn has the most terrible pillows and my neck was....a mess. I was paired up with Gilberto and he was *amazing*. The numb spot in my finger tip dissipated and my neck has stopped screaming pain every time I turn my head. The spa itself is very lovely and clean, the treatment rooms are quiet (I never heard any hall noise), and the front desk staff quite friendly and helpful. If you have a serious problem and need someone who knows what they're doing, ask for Gilberto. read more

This place has the worst customer service I have seen. I will not visit any more locations due to the level of service I have received. The manager Felicia is ridiculous to work with. She claims to take of things and she doesn't. I am still waiting for a call from the General manager since May. I had a membership here they refused to cancel. I explained I had surgery for a medical condition and hadn't used my benefits since Jan. I lost my job due to COVID (in May) and ask what my option were? Only for Felicia to explained that I was in a contract and still obligated to pay or get a doctor note and loss the 500.00 I had paid in unused passes. I had a total of 8 unused passes. This management at his location is horrible. I am still not cancelled and still being billed. Avoid at all costs. I had a Microderm infusion facial. The facial was a Medspa like (similar to a hydrafacial) treatment but was much less expensive. Everyone was super nice (front desk Ana) and my esthetician (Allie) was really good and knowledgeable. My face feels really clean and it was fun to see all of the stuff that comes out of your pores with this treatment. Great treatment and great location! read more
