You pay for a 60 min massage, but you get only 15-20 min. 60 minutes include: waiting at the front desk, filling out your application, waiting for a therapist, getting to the room, etc. I wouldn't get a membership! I came in for the dual treatment (facial and massage). Booking over the phone took some time, I think the girl was new but she was very nice about it. I had to give my credit card info over the phone in order to book my first appointment so that they could bill me in the event I didn't show up. I can understand why they need to do so but it kind of set the tone for the experience. They seem to have a solid business model but as a consumer I prefer a more intimate, relaxing spa experience. Both of my appointments were very close to right on time, but since they treated my one visit as two appointments I had to get dressed after my facial and go back to the waiting room to wait for my massage appointment. The therapist and esthetician were both very professional, nice, and did a good job. I wasn't blown away enough to become a member and I'm not sure if I will be back, but I would consider buying a gift card for a friend since they have locations all over. read more

Received an amazing facial by Chrissy I have had acne problems all my life and Chrissy always leaves my skin feeling great. Although I was hesitant on purchasing products she recommended I am glad I did as I am seeing major improvements. Always look forward to my monthly facials from her. Same as the other review, Jackie is wonderful. Really good at a good firm massage and trigger point. Front desk always wonderful. They know me by name and always make me feel welcome. I am very impressed. So today was my first time ever getting massaged. I work in am office an get a lot of tention in my shoulder an upper back. When i called the lady who answered the phone was very sweet and really listened to what i was requesting. When i got there i got the same treatment. My therapist was Gio, he was amazing VERY professional an made sure to focus on my problem area. At the end I was also impressed on the way the receptionist explained the member ship. This review has been long overdue. I have had nothing but issues with this place. First off, the price is ridiculous for what we are offered. Second, I have had the worst experience with therapists here. One of the worst experiences I have had at the Santee location was with a lady who paid absolutely no attention to her physical appearance. First off, she was not well groomed, her hair was a mess and greasy, she had a mustache, hairy arms, and a foul odor. When she messaged me, I could feel her hair on her arms rub against my skin. On top of that, the entire time she massaged my back, I could feel her tummy rubbing up against me. Her breathing was very loud and there was not one moment I felt relaxed. Not at all anything oh look for in a massage therapist. When I complained, the only thing I was offered was to change therapists for the next time I came in....well OF COURSE! There were three other therapists that were no where near what I considered good therapists. Every time I had a bad experience I was only offered one "enhancement" whatever that meant. I never received it! After I found the one massage therapist I loved, Erica, it was three months away for me to cancel my ONE YEAR MINIMUM membership and on the last month, they called me and CANCELLED. I have had such a hard time booking my last appointment and now I am stuck with someone I have no experience with and who may just make my last appointment unpleasant. Having been a member for a while, I have had a bit of experience with these folk. Sometimes the front staff is awesome, engaging, and cheerful... sometimes they are very closed and quiet. Sometimes the masseuse is attentive to the clients needs, sometimes they are a limp fish, sometimes they are too hard and tell you it is the knots fault. But more often than not, they are great, cheerful, and willing to listen. It all depends on who you get. I have walked out of there a few times feeling "eh", but once I found a good masseuse I booked my appointments specifically to get that level of service. Good overall. Very disappointed. This review is for the front office and manager today (12-16). I was looking forward to my 90 minute massage today that was given as a gift. I came in and they did not have me booked! They had me booked for tomorrow and would not accommodate today. LADIES BEWARE!I decided to treat myself and my boyfriend to a couples massage for Valentine's Day and regretted every penny i spent. Don't get me wrong, my massage was good, but don't be bringing your man in there, that's for sure...I don't know if people who hire for this location don't care about professionalism of their employees or Massage Envy standards are just that low...the person massaging my man made me feel super uncomfortable with what she was saying tohim and at some point it got so bad I was ready to walk out...of course he should have "checked" her and it is partially his fault, but common, now...be professional, especially since I'm on the next table... i will definitely never step a foot in this establishment ever again, as for my man....I don't know, maybe he enjoyed the flirting, but that's a big NO-NO in my world. My boyfriend and I decided to get a massage before heading out to dinner tonight. To be frank I am compelled to writing this review right before we head out (got the massage today). We scheduled a couple's massage and were greeted by Rebecca in the front. She was amazing and took great care of us. When we got to the back we were directed to the couples room. Long story short I am on the table having a wonderful massage by Charlie and all I could hear is a muffled rock/headbanging sound overpowering the calming music they had in the room. I turned to him ask him what it was and he said it was some type of music.. I giggled and thought maybe I was hearing things.. 25 minutes in to the massage I get irritated by this music that is ruining my "inner peace" and turn to the right to see the girl named Liz (that was giving my boyfriend a massage) with her white headphones on. I ask my massage therapist to flag her down and he asked her to put it down in which she did. Needless to say my heart started pumping due to the unprofessionalism and shock and couldn't enjoy the rest of my massage. We left the place with me and my boyfriend arguing and me in tears from such a waste of time on one of our only days we have spent together in a while. In all fairness, the girls in the front charged for just one massage but I didn't mind spending a million dollars as long as we got professional service.. If I were you I would make sure not to go to this Massage Envy and or not get the massage therapist Liz (very rude girl might I add). I received a gift card to go get a massage in June and was not able to set an appointment for 3 months. Every time I called in they were booked. For a national company they don't care about the people who use there service. I wanted to try them because they are so close to my home, but was not able to set an appointment because I had a gift card. Called another massage company in la Mesa and was able to get in the next day for 1/2 the price my friend gave me the gift card. Would not recommend to anyone who is looking to try a new place. I have been getting massage treatments for the last 4 years 2 times a month. I will stick with my last massage company even though they are 5 miles away. I tried this with a friend, and signed up after being told that if we move out of the area or are unable to use the services I could cancel. After 5 months I was sent overseas for a 6 month assignment. Called Massage Envy and was told it was not a problem to put the memberhsip on hold. The next month my credit card was charged again - so I called, was told it was an error and that it would be put on hold. Charges did not post after that - so I thought I was fine. I returned to the US, planned to visit Massage Envy next week to restart - but then received a call from a collection agency. If I did not pay $343 they would report me to all the credit agencies. I called Massage Envy and they will not resolve the problem. They said to restart the membership I would need to pay the collection company and start a new contract. If you travel or are a military family - beware. read more

I've heard about this place a lot. So I finally decided to give it a try. I was running late so I called to let them know. The front desk was super polite and understanding. I got there, filled out some paper work, and my therapist came to get me almost immediately. I have a lot of knots but I like my massages to be more relaxing rather than painful. Janice was my therapist and she was amazing. She made my back feel amazing and gave me a very relaxing experience. Yes they try to sell you on a membership but I'm in sales so I understand that part of a job. Overall I had a great experience. Everyone was wonderful. read more

I have been to this particular location twice both for couples massage and have been meaning to write a review ever since. The massage itself both times was fantastic! They focused on all my problem areas and were not too rough. I felt very relaxed and both me and my boyfriends massage therapists were very sweet and professional. However on both occasions I have not had an equal experience as I did with the therapist, with the receptionist. They both were very nice and easy going at check in but when checking out they were EXTREMELY pushy on signing me up for a yearly plan. When I respectfully declined due to not needing a massage monthly and just on special occasions, I was immediately interrogated. I was asked repeatedly "what would change my mind?" "why not?" etc. I came to this business to receive a massage and RELAX not to be PRESSURED into signing up for a yearly plan. I'm not sure if it's just the receptionist at this particular location or if the company in it's entirety pressures its staff to meet a quota. Overall if your looking for an excellent massage this is the place but just know they will really try to sell you on their memberships. read more

Most of the therapist are always fully booked. Chrissy who I go to for facials is verrry thorough and concerning about your skin health. 1 Star is too much. After my contract date I tried to cancel my contract by writing, calling and going into shop. Massage Envy did not/would not cancel my contract and continued to charge me for services that now I find out I will never receive. I have paid for 21 massages that they tell me I am no longer entitled to because there is only 30 days after you cancel your contract to use what I paid for. I have heard from several others they have a great deal of difficulty cancelling their contracts as well. I finally had to stop the credit card to stop them from charging me. I know there are more people out there that are having trouble cancelling their contracts and not receiving the services they paid for. I am considering filing a class action lawsuit for their business practices. read more

I really like this location. Friendly staff, they always are able to get me in, usually with my favorite therapist Michelle. Jen does great deep tissue, and I have heard Debbie is great, too. I have enjoyed my "membership", I've used other locations and this summer plan to visit one of the Palm Desert locations when on vacation. The pro's of Massage Envy are you can use your membership at any of their locations, and I've never not been able to get an appointment when I need one. They offer several different types of massage, and they are clean and professional. Downside is I have had a few massages that were not the best, but few and far between. I've been very pleased with my membership, and the Santee location is my fave. read more

Had two massages booked for 4pm today. Showed up at 3:53pm. Signed in, they took our personal information and we were in the waiting room. My GF left with her therapist and my therapist showed up with a scowl on her face and asked me if I was ready. I said yes and I stood up. I sniffed because of allergies and I had a cold last week. She asked me if I was sick and I said that I was fine. She immediately tells me that she has a suppressed immune system and will find someone else to do my massage. I used the rest room and came back. I overheard two of the therapists in the hallway say, "I'm not getting his gross germs all over me. You do it." I cleared my throat to let them know I was listening and they scurried away. A moment later my GF came out and said let's go they want us to reschedule. We walked back out to the front and waited and we were ignored for several minutes so we left. I'm so glad we had pre-paid gift certificates that totally went to waste because I'm so gross. Horrible customer service, rude therapists and just an overall crappy and short experience. Didn't even offer a refund. I hope they choke on my $100. Please go somewhere else to spend your hard earned money. Who works as a massage therapist and has their hands all over strangers with a suppressed immune system!? read more

I have been a member of the Santee location for almost a year and have always had a good experience. Recently, I arrived for an appointment that had never been put on the books by the staff member I made the appointment with. While initially I was discouraged, the manager on duty that day was very apologetic, offered me an appointment that same day with another massage therapist (it's always good to have a backup!) and gave me a free 30 minute upgrade. While I didn't take the appointment for that day, the customer service was great and I will continue to go there monthly for my appointments. read more

I can't believe that they have got good reviews from some people. I have been there twice. I tried it the first time and loved the massage and atmosphere but after the massage they hound you about getting a membership there. I mean for about a half hour both girls were at the desk not letting me leave until I got a membership there and they were talking so bad to me saying why I wouldn't get one. The membership is way to expensive and a rip off. I'd rather pay when I go there. I tried it again and same thing... the girls were so rude there. The customer service at the desk was HORRIBLE.
