She is so sweet and always goes above and beyond to ensure that I leave feeling pampered and relaxed. Cindy is amazing as well so you can't go wrong with either of them. I also love the fact that they use coconut oil. I strive to keep toxic ingredients out of my lifestyle and definitely prefer not to have toxic ingredients being massaged into my skin so I really appreciate the use of the coconut oil. I was in the area and in desperate need of some muscle work in my lower back and neck. I'm always in moderate pain, but this day it was really bad. I called Spa Lux at 6:10pm and Cindy had me in by 6:30. She made a 1 hour deep tissue massage feel like 2!! I can't believe the ground she covered in an hour. It was AMAZING. I just moved here and needed a Swedish massage from all the unpacking. I wasn't sure what to expect because of the low hourly rate. I called to do a walk-in and was told to show up in 30 minutes. My masseuse was Minnie and she did an amazing job. She was very thorough and professional. At first, I was disappointed because she didn't massage my feet but I later found out that she saving it towards the end and she spent more time than I've ever had done before. 3 stars because the massage was great. I have been a patron of this establishment for a long time. The last time I went, however, they charged me beforehand. Fine, but I don't tip until after the service and I don't want my card charged twice. After it was over, the masseuse basically demanded a tip, which means running my card a second time. I didn't like this and felt pressured to tip when I had already been charged $75. I normally would, but don't charge your customers twice just so you can get your tip. I, unfortunately, won't come back again as this left a bad taste in my mouth and made me uncomfortable. It ended up ruining the whole massage because it stressed me out. read more

My only complaint is that I would have preferred a little more "strength" in the massage. Both my wife and I felt like it wasn't as deep as we would prefer and experienced at some other locations. She knew my body better than I knew it myself. Her hands were always moving! She started on my back, massaged out the knots, relieved the tension in my lower back by doing several pressure points, ah yes! She surprised me with hot stones & eased the pressure I had been building in my neck & shoulders. She then worked on the back of my arms & legs. Then, she had me turn over & worked on my scalp, face, neck, & shoulders, kneading out the many knots I had. Then, she worked on the front of my arms & legs. I'm leaving a one star because zero star was not an option. The person who massages me is Minnie, who also worked at the front desk. I had almost identical experience as one of the other reviewer: she said that my neck and shoulder were stiff, and urged me to upgrade to a more expensive one multiple times during the massage.After I insisted that I want to stick with my current one (full body), she did not use any strength, even after I asked her to go slightly harder. It felt like she was just rubbing against my skin the entire time. It didn't even feel good. 90 mins, and I didn't enjoy a bit of it. I was there with my eyes open wondering when this can end because I didn't like it and I was just getting bored. Yvonne is the best therapist in San Diego. During the session she stuck her elbow into my back and the knot i had for last six months completely unraveled. My sleep and mental health always improves after a session. I usually go for an hour massage but now I been getting the 90 minute deep tissue sports injury therapy which is well worth it. -TL;DR- -This place turned what was meant to be a gift into a horrible experience...Twice. -They lure you in with low prices because they have a toxic business climate. -Spend more money and go somewhere else, I wish I had. My wife has a chronic disease, so anything that can help "take the edge off that" is a boon to me. So for her birthday I spent about $170 on a gift certificate that she could use over two long visits. What could be better than two days of relaxing spa visits for her, and I get to help out a local small business? Well that was the plan anyway... After a decent experience my wife was accosted about the tip, which instead of a happy contented woman coming home to me I get an angry fireball. Resisting the urge to demand the rest of the value on the certificate back, I pled with my wife to wait a while and that I'm sure it was just that one particular masseuse. She goes back 9 months later (apparently that's how long it took to get over it) and even asks to raid my wallet for additional cash to make sure she has enough for a tip. Yet again she comes home a thunderstorm because she had another terrible experience when it came time to tip. So I've had my fair share of massages in this price range and at even cheaper places, but this is he only place that is consistent. I have been here three times now and wonder why I haven't reviewed them yet. Anyways, this review is about my most recent visit. I'll keep it short, sweet, and simple... I came in for a foot massage at around 7:30 p.m with an appointment I made about an hour earlier. The massage therapist was Jacky, Jacky Chan, and I'm not kidding. I don't know if this guy knows Kung Fu the way the other JC does, but this guy knew his pressure points real well. He knew where and how to loosen the knots in my neck and shoulders and didn't work horribly deep into my foot because I'm sure he could tell I had a low pain threshold. Unlike most places, I woke up without feeling like I got ran over by a bus. The setting and environment is like its name, it's LUXurious. You walk in feeling like you're worth a billion bucks, when you're actually paying only a fraction! The place is very clean, massage tables feel like beds! It's soft! And the sheets they use to cover you with are nice, warm, and fluffy. So again, short, sweet, and simple: very affordable, very clean, very friendly and experienced, very relaxing, and very consistent! What more do you need from a legitimate massage establishment? I got a 90 min massage (60 full body and 30 feet). The place is nice and location was easy to find. I paid $55 (their website lists the wrong prices btw). I was really disappointed with the massage. Her pressure was too soft and she used way too much oil. It just wasn't that great and I've gotten a lot of massages from asian places before. The foot massage was the worst and she used gloves. Quite possibly the worst foot massage I've ever had . I've been to massage lux many times now so I know exactly what to expect . The woman who did my massage was clearly very tired and just lazy . They always massage your head , neck, arms and hands prior to starting with your feet. This is usually a good 15- 20 minutes but today it took her 5 minutes to massage all of those spots . Then she moved onto my feet and legs where she hardly touched my feet and literally for 25 minutes each leg just rubbed my shin . It was just rubbing NOT massaging and only my shins she didn't even touch my calf. i finally had to ask her to please stop because she just sat there yawning and rubbing the same spot over and over and over . After asking her to stop she then went nuts on my calf on one but not the other . To finish it she gave me a like warm towel for my feet and gently rubbed my thighs . This was not the norm for a foot massage and I'm super bummed to have spent $45. This is the last time I'll come here ! read more

The masseuse sucked. She didnt even introduce herself. The place itself was very pretty in the way they decorated it but aside from that it was one of my worst massage experiences ever. The chick was massaging my bones and she had absolutely no body strength. My little sister couldve given a better massage!! Girl @ front desk was SO RUDE I tipped $5 and she's all "Is that all you're tipping? what the massage wasn't good??" and then she stated talking shit in Vietnamese. I feel terrible giving the one star but that's honesty. My husband and I came here because our usual place closed early.. We ended up getting the 25$ foot massage. I went into this place with a coupon for $40 for an hour long massage and it was a great massage. Not the best I've ever gotten but certainly both the worst. The technician was very nice and asked many times if I was ok and how the pressure was. Also, something that I've never had before with a massage, she used hot towels to remove the oils used during the massage. It was the first one I've ever left without feeling all oily, I thought it was awesome. The only thing I'd change was the tech had long nails and she dug them into me a few times during the massage. I appreciate the good service and relaxing massage offered by Yvonne and Minnie. My husband and I come here often for the 2 hour massage. We are treated in a professional way and draped well, along with working the knots out, a face massage.....an overall excellent experience... We don't live in Poway but it is worth the 20 minute trip. The price is reasonable. They take credit cards for the massage but tips should be in cash. These girls work hard and I feel comfortable with them. I want to include Cindy in my review. She is skilled and really does good job whether you ask for a deep massage or a relaxing one. read more

This is my wife and my favorite place to go to be pampered with a massage. We have done 2 couples massages here so far and both times have been wonderful. My wife insists on Jackie Chan as he is able to instinctively find exactly where she needs the most attention and work out all her sore spots. I had 2 different ladies work on me and both did an exceptional job. We are going back next week to indulge in 2hr massages. I only hope I can drive afterwards. BEST MASSAGE PLACE EVER The ladies here are so kind and nice, and they are all amazing!! I don't get a massage from the same person because they are all great. They are also great with walk-ins! They are usually able to fit me in. My favorite massage is the Sports Injury, it's a super deep tissue massage. I'll do those once every couple months, and do a regular Deep Massage every couple weeks. They also have a Couples Massage room (AMAZING!) I love this place and recommend to anyone! read more

Money is paid at the END of massage not the beginning and no extra charge for credit cards= nice. I asked for strong-medium but I got very strong. (BTW:I go for weekly massages). Saw an ad from the junk mail pile and wanted to try out their foot massage. Their foot massage isn't just foot massage but also includes head, shoulder, forearm, leg and thigh massages. Actual time spending on the sole of the feet was about 15 minutes each. It's good that they really give you 1 full hour of total massage time. While I was there I read a lot of reviews on Yelp saying the tipping issues the customers encountered. I was so worry about it. After the massage, I paid cash and based on the change she gave me, I tipped at about 20%. The lady didn't say thank you nor scream and yell as described in other posts.
