Yoyo worked hard on my body and didn't miss a spot for the 90 minutes. The interior of venue may not be upgraded and most aesthetic- but it's hygienic, uncluttered and simple. Did not encounter any awkward scents or signs of lack of cleanliness. Yes, they do request payment upfront... which isn't customary, cash or card same price (2$ difference) .. opted to fill tip portion of receipt after. Many reviews make extreme assumptions about this place... the price point matches the venue's interior presentation (not of great importance to me) but of great and exceptional value for the service offered. I am customer at Angel's for almost 15 years now. Love this place. I had many different therapists and can tell that everybody I met are an angel. Every time I go there after long and hard working day, 90 minutes later I leave rejuvenated and relaxed. Rooms are very clean, with pleasant scents and very private. Sheets are new and clean. Ladies at front desk are trying very hard to make every visit a pleasant one. I always look forward to next visit. The last year I've been back & they have gotten so much better. I've had Lisa & she's pretty good. I forgot to ask the other couple girls names, but Kevin is also great. It's hard for me to actually fall alsleep during a massage, but last time I ordered the 2 hour combo & I legit passed out. I was in & out of it for maybe 20-30 minutes & it was amazing! My husband & I came here due to the recent good reviews. We decided to go for a 70minute couples massage. I have to agree with some of the older reviews, we had one of the strangest experiences we've ever had getting massages. To begin, the lady providing my service climbed on top of the table & straddled my back. The massage it self was more a combination of her pushing on me & stretching my limbs then it was actual massaging. My husband & I both agreed the massages we received were inconsistent with what we requested and paid for. Both massage therapists continued talking to one other through out the service, and one of their phones began vibrating on the desk as they received a call. You could hear several workers through out the building having several different conversations and slamming things around. Overall it was okay, but I wouldn't recommend this place :( read more

Decided to give this place a try for a last minute massage and definitely did not disappoint. I have been having back pain and felt so relaxed after a 90 min massage with Anna. The pressure was perfect and got the knots out. I am also on my feet all the time and would say this is one of the best massage I've gotten on my sore calves. most of the time when i get massages, they spend more time on my upper back to get the knots out. I had started coming here a few times, but after today I wont be coming back. They make you prepay, & theres a line on the receipt to tip, so i always tip before the massage. After the massage, the masseuse stood outside the door, almost waiting for a tip. When i started walking away, he said "no tip??" And i turned around & said "i already tipped in the beginning". If theyre going to expect tip at the end, the person working the front desk should tell them beforehand if we already tipped or not. *sigh, time to find another massage place. read more

I have been driving past this place everyday for 2 years as it's on my way home. I finally decided to go for a foot massage and I was really impressed! I did an hour foot massage and WOW! My friend and I decided to go for massages and ended up at Angel Massage. I'm sure they were not massage therapists. We paid for the 90minute massages and my guy didn't even touch my feet and that's one place I really needed massaged but he wouldn't have known this because they didn't even ask us about how we were feeling or what we needed done let alone even introduce themselves. I had to ask his name when he started massaging me and I never saw his face until it was over and I came back out to the lobby. Weird. I called in on a Saturday afternoon to see if they had time for a walk-in 90 minute massage. They answered the phone quickly and said they had availability. She also asked if I had a preference for male or female therapist, which I appreciated. I got there a few minutes later - parking is easy in a private lot. I was asked to pay first, which I didn't mind. For a 90 minute full body, I paid $85 cash, such a great price. I was promptly shown to my room. I had Cici, who did a fantastic job. Her pressure was perfect and she made sure to consistently check in to ensure I was comfortable. She could tell I had tension in my shoulders and back from sitting at work and made extra care to work on the knots. It was my first time there and I was so impressed with her that I asked what days she was there so I could book again. She left after our time was up, and I walked to the counter where they had a tray with water and a business card with Cici's name and schedule waiting for me. There was no pressure to tip, which was nice, but of course she did such a wonderful job that she deserved a good one!! Will definitely be my new go to place. read more

I have never had a massage before until I came here. I am a frequent runner and cyclist, so I have built up a lot of tension and soreness over the years. My friend recommended that I come here because they do a good job and it is close to where I live. I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I'd say it was really nice and I was satisfied. What do you do when you have worked all day, taken pictures for hours at the park before going to the Yelp Elite party event of the year in Balboa park? Go get a relaxing massage of course. Were they open longer than other places? Yes, open until 11 so that made it convenient. Only $40 for a 1 hour deep tissue massage. Sounds good to me. I called ahead just to make sure they were open and had openings, since my usual place closes at 10. I did not have any problems with the person who answered, she was very friendly and polite. I am not sure if it was the same person at the front desk when I arrived, but the person at the front desk was also very friendly and did not mind answering all of my questions. I had no issues, unlike some of the other Yelp reviews. The spa was easy to find on Mira Mesa Blvd, well lit inside and out. Plenty of parking but it was late at night. Everyone I talked to there was very friendly and helpful. I have been to many other massage spas of all styles, prices, etc. Angel massage was just like many other budget massage spas. It is not going to have plush robes, and lime flavored water, but if you want a great massage with no frills, then give it a try. Clean bathrooms and rooms, friendly staff and only $40. You pay up front before the massage, pretty standard for the places that I have been to. Showers are available so if you have been running around, you can get cleaned up before your massage. They have shower shoes as well which is a nice touch. The room was well lit, and the table was very comfy but not heated, but it did have a sheet and a blanket/comforter. The temperature in the room was about 78-80 so not cold at all. I don't remember any music playing and I could hear some muffled talking in another room, but it was very low volume and did not bother me at all. Typical massage, get undressed to your comfort level, but they use oil so take off your clothes if you don't want to get oil on them. I was told that Lucy did firm pressure so I said sure figuring that she could adjust and do less pressure if necessary. Lucy did a great job. No small talk and no asking about medical conditions, but she did check from time to time to make sure the pressure was ok and it was. Lucy spent about 45-50 minutes on back, legs, etc while on your stomach. About 10-15 minutes on feet, head, legs while you are on your back. Some light stretching, but not like a Thai massage. She put a pillow under my ankles while I was on my stomach, that is a nice touch and relieves knee pain. Before flipping over to my back, she got some hot towels and wiped the oil off, they were pretty hot, but they cooled off quickly. My massage was an hour or slightly over, no feeling of being rushed even though it ended about 11:10. I did not have the experience that other Yelpers mentioned. They have a suggested tip sign in the room, I had not seen that before, normally it is up front by the cashier. They suggest $15 minimum for a 1 hour $40 massage. I was not pressured to tip and Lucy did not count the money or question me at all. I gave $20 but she did not know that until after I was on my way out. There are a few touches that are missing or it would be 5 star, but 4 stars is not bad at all. They do not have a loyalty reward card to get 1 free after 10 or 12, kind of a bummer, and they are far away or I would go more often. read more

Highly recommend. This is an Asian massage so you're going to get no glamour, hard pressure and occasional pulling at the limbs or back bends. I feel so much looser at the end. I had such upper back pain, and my therapist CeCe is strong. I told her it was a little hard, and she adjusted the pressure. Worth the extra $5 for hot stones. Truly the weirdest massage I have ever gotten. The massage therapist must be brand new and have never taken a class. She straddled/sat on my back in order to massage my back! Disgusting and unsanitary. Was face down for the first part of my massage when I noticed that there was a small rectangular pillow on the floor under the bed. Fast forward to end of my massage and I belatedly remember to check under the bed. EWW, EWW. The masseuse picked up a pillow FROM THE FLOOR and that is what she used under my head when I flipped over. I told the lady at the desk (since my masseuse couldn't understand what I said) and she could not even contest it. I was so angry I just walked out after that (yes, still gave a tip). I'm not one for Yelp reviews but let me say this....I have NEVER felt so good after a massage. My job is quite stressful and causes me to feel fatigued and carry that stress in my back so I rarely feel relief. When I walked into the room, I didn't even notice the handrails on the ceiling (attached photo) but quickly understood why they're there as my masseuse, Sophia, hopped up on the table and went to work! I was a bit hesitant as she wasn't the largest of masseuses I've let rub me down, but never have I had a masseuse start walking on my back, stretch and really get into each vertebrate and knot like that before. Mid-back walk I could feel my feet in a cold sweat and instantly felt as if my stress level dropped. I'm almost scared to see the amount of lactic acid/toxins she released from my body.
