I called for an appointment to have a Swedish massage. It was on the 2nd floor in a weird spot that isn't easy to find. I asked if they knew how to do a Swedish massage as advertised and was told yes. As I was getting a massage, it didn't feel like my normal Swedish massage, so I asked if she knew how to do Swedish. She said that she doesn't but can do an Asian massage but that wasn't what I wanted. Why did they already say that they could do it when they couldn't? Since I already paid, there was nothing that I could do. It was ok but not what I asked for. They also charged an extra $2 for using my credit card. Well, this was mighty unusual. I get lots of massage all over. I guess you are smart if you find clients who have YELPED a lot all over town about massage places. So Kimmi, the receptionist/social media coordinator reached out to me and asked me to come in with a slight did discount but I said I'd give a very honest review 100%. I'm convinced that ALL the massage places in town are funded by some group wealthy folks. They are all the same: -same pleasant back ground music -good tables -clean & new & simple -new paint job -clean well appointed bathrooms This place has a terrible location. On the second floor of an office building in the back on the parking lot. YOU WILL NOT SEE THIS PLACE JUST DRIVING AROUND. I told kimmi days in advance that I like a strong massage therapist. "MIA", slender older woman gave me a medium pressure massage even though I kept asking for stronger. She could not. Mia is a talented massage therapist. Draped appropriately. But Kimmi said she could also do a massage "but not so well. Well, I should have listened when people say that. Allen is my favorite and my go-to!!! He is absolutely amazing. I did have a women once and she demanded more time money. I do suggest preparing to tip over 25-30% . Allen has always been thankful for my tips and I haven't been back since that woman was a little too aggressive. I'm writing this review in hopes that I can get comfortable again and see Allen. He is the best at head Massages and makes me feel better every single time. You also have to remember this is NOT a traditional massage place. This is an Asian style reflexology massage. This place is located in a very unusual place on the second floor and the lay out is not very welcoming but it is what it is. Cici does great work and she is one and possibly the only one that does a great job. She does use the hot stones as advertised on the promotions and I would recommend and give this place a try. On a side note Cici is off on Saturday's and I needed a massage really bad so I went to Bernardo Massage Center and was by far the worst massage I have ever received in my entire life. They have a standard tip rate of $10/30 mins that they did not disclose prior to the massage or post on the door for customers to see. I was floored when I found out after the massage that I have to pay a 30 dollar tip because they have a tipping system as mentioned above. I gave my card to pay for the tip and get out of that establishment. they told me that my card will be charged $2 for the transaction which I find ridiculous. I too bought the Groupon and was disappointed. The massage itself was okay but the place was kind of creepy. Bad location in an old run down building, which didn't feel safe to me. The restroom floor was coming apart. The therapist, a young male, spoke absolutely no English and it was very hard to communicate. The massage table is the cheap kind that has the hole for your head so when he was massaging my neck it wasn't comfortable at all. The whole experience was awkward. Great place! Hard to see from street but plenty of parking. Inside is huge, so even if there are other customers, you are separated enough to still have a sense of privacy. Quiet and clean. I have been with Cici for more than two years and she always knows exactly how to soothe my aching back whether it is from sitting at the computer too long, or sitting in the car too long. She can be gentle, or really push when it's needed. I drive from Point Loma to Poway now because she is that good! read more

I have gotten massages at several places both in and out of the area. The massage that I received today was distinctly one of the worst. The masseuse was the receptionist and it felt like that was his actual profession. There was zero consistency in pressure or technique from one moment to the next and the hot stones were so hot that I literally jumped up off of the bed when they were initially put on me. Great place!! I had a long day at work and the only thing I could think about was getting a massage after work. I live in Poway and didn't want to drive too far. I got there around 8pm and they took me right in. Very nice and clean with a relaxing atmosphere. I got the $20 "Foot Massage" that also included a back massage (clothes on). I gave this place two stars because of the price. However the massage was okay, place was dirty looking...also had a little weird smell inside and they made me pay upfront before my massage. Then after my massage the lady was basically forcing me to give her a 10 dollar tip. I was possibly thinking about going back until the payment problem at the end. A tip is not mandatory I have the right to give what I want. Oh and they said hot stones included and that never happened. I have to update my previous review of this place. Originally I gave this place 4 Stars. I went back yesterday bc my regular place was all booked for Mother's Day. I went in and got the 1 hour massage. They receptionist walked me back to the room and I got undressed and laid in the table. She came back shortly and began. In the beginning it was ok but after 25 minutes thru it my back started getting sore bc she hadn't even put lotion or oil on me at this point. Still dry and pulling my skin. Not once was there any massaging..... more like just pressing all her weight on me. Then she began digging her elbow into my spine all the way to my lower back and butt. It hurt so bad I had to tell her to stop multiple times. Once she even left the room for a couple minutes and left the door wide open. I was laying there naked with just a sheet over my butt. Mind you I was in the first room past the entrance. Anyone coming in would have to walk right past the room. Once I flipped over she started on my arms. It was like getting an Indian burn. I had red "burn marks" on my arm that I could see after. I wanted to walk out but kept thinking it had to get better bc it couldn't possibly get any worse??? Once it was finally over "thank god" I got dressed and headed out to leave. I told her thank you as I try to be polite. When I didn't tip her she said, "no tip?!?" I looked at her and said, "no way. That was the worst most painful massage I've ever had in my life. I'm in pain right now!!!" I've never not tipped even if I think the service wasn't great. I like deep work and he was really skilled at working out the knots and I have fibromyalgia and I felt so much better after the massage!! How do I give 0 stars? Bought a massage from Groupon as a gift for my girlfriend. Worst decision ever. We went to the place to try and set an appointment and they said call when you're ready. So we wasted a trip there. My girlfriend eventually set the appointment and went in for her massage. Should have been a clue that they don't ask you to fill out any paperwork or talk to you at all for that matter other than showing you to the room. Going into the room she had no clue who her masseuse would be. Needless to say she had guy named Allen who totally made her feel uncomfortable. During the massage he sat on the table several times. Part way through the massage he sat on her back straddling her under a half blanket to massage her back without explaining what he was doing or if it was ok. He proceeded to basically grope her butt without a word of what he was doing. She told him that it was not ok. He then continued to massage her back again while sitting on the side of the table. He asked her to turn to her back and proceeded to massage her legs inappropriately close to her privates, while sitting between her legs on the table, at which point made her even more uncomfortable. She again said that was enough. He then again sat on the table and was rubbing her arm in a non professional manner. She was so weirded out that she could not continue and stopped the massage totally. We do not recommend this place at all. Such a terrible experience for something that was supposed to be enjoyable. And to add insult to injury he demanded a tip before she even left the room! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!! read more

i liked alan, he was a good masseur. their massage tables are very uncomfortable. they're not right. something about the hole they have cut out for your face. every time he presses on my upper back it feels like my trachea is cut off and i can't breathe. i get a sore neck afterwards. recently their prices also went up. i have tried there a couple times but things have not improved. i won't be coming back. read more
