I got the ritual head spa for Mother's Day Special. It was good and relaxing, but I was not aware that I would be sharing a room with another client. They have other rooms. I'm not sure why they have to put two clients in one room that are strangers. I could understand if it was booked as a couples appt. I can only imagine that the other person did not feel relaxed when she started blow drying my hair. The therapist that did my treatment did a good job, but did not talk much and was not that friendly, she did not introduce herself and explain what steps she was doing to me. I had to ask the name at the end when I paid and I believe it was Hannah. The price was reasonable for the service provided. They have a punch card membership. I usually go to The Forest Spa on Miramar rd and wanted to see if this was the same, that place was wonderful with friendly therapists. read more

The Forest Spa just opened near my office. They are located in a small strip mall across from where Garden Road intersects with Poway Road. I thought it would be a treat to buy a massage for my wife to start off a date-night. She has been dealing with a lot of stress lately with work, the holidays, etc, and I thought she would appreciate being pampered. They have done a nice job creating a relaxing environment within the spa. The owners / masseuses are very kind and very professional, and their rates seem very reasonable. I think they charge around $70 or $80 for a one hour massage. They also have shorter and longer options available. My wife reported that she was very happy with her massage. Had high hopes based on the reviews. Certainly a nice setting. Went Sunday morning first thing. Greeted and shown to room by Emily. Her massage was ok - just ok - not as much pressure as I prefer. Honestly I felt like her mind was elsewhere. The real issue came about 20 minutes in. "Doorbell" rang - she left the room for nearly five minutes to deal with someone. After she returned the doorbell and some other buzzer sounded several times more and though she didn't leave it ruined the relaxation. Add to that the room was surprisingly noisy - truck sounds outside; someone on the phone maybe in an adjoining suite; other voices in the suite. And near the end I figured she's add a few minutes to make up for her time out of the room. Nope. All to say, disappointing. read more
