Yeeeep - we're not ever going anywhere else now. This place uses tiger's balm (or something like it mixed with their oil), so there is a pleasant tingly feeling when you are on the table. These tiny women are strong - do not be fooled, they can get deeep into your muscles. They are clearly trained in their craft - and my massage felt like it had a certain order/sequence, that definitely made sense. The stretches were perfect, and there were definitely a few that a chiropractor would be proud of lol. Pressure was perfect, hot stones were perfect, walking on back was perfect. I really can't wait to go back and I don't recall having a massage I've enjoyed as much, and this considers that I've gone to a wide range (your 250+ Burke Williams massages and 50+ random asian place massages). Massage was a mix of deep tissue/thai in terms of the stretching, but I would not call it full Thai (as we were definitely on a table, with oil, and the active stretching part was not until the last 10 minutes at the end). I've been coming here for 3 years. They give consistently excellent massages every time. I've gone to many places and the quality of massage would vary by person, time of day etc. This is not the case here. I was injured in the military many years ago and suffered chronic pain. 3 years of getting massages every couple of months and the pain is behind me. The prenatal massage was excellent. It's well worth the money, the employees are kind and accommodating and you'll get a great massage every time. I love this place. I come here several times a year, most recently yesterday. The prices have gone up to reflect inflation. The new rate is $75/60 minutes, $110/90 minutes, $145/2 hours. There is a $5 discount for cash payments. I will say that each massage is different. The lady I had yesterday was good but not the best. I like hard pressure and she was more on the medium end. Located up in the middle of Poway Business district, is not easy to be spotted unless you are familiar with the area. I would have never known if it was not recommended by my Chiropractor. I walked in and was nicely greeted by 2 ladies. Asked me for my reservation and then was guided to my room. The place was very clean and nicely maintained filled with minty aroma. My masseuse (n.Bam) was a very polite young Thai lady. She asked me few questions regarding my health and bothering areas. Immediately she started the treatment and I only can say it was great. It is not easy to find a Real Massage Treatment places this days but, here, I am convinced from the start of her treatment. I always go to either Thai, Chi or Acupressure massage when I'm traveling overseas and this place was a duplicate. The whole treatment was professionally done and to my wonders, my stiff neck was much softer and I was able to turn my neck much easily. The effect was not immediately felt but about 40 minutes after I finish my treatment. I would recommend this place to all person that wants to have legit Thai massage for health. Remember that Thai massage is not just going through your body with oil. It include acupressure and stretching which is done professionally. Very good and very close to excellent massage experience. I've been twice to this establishment so didn't know a favorite yet as my go-to therapist. First time was amazing, second time the girl was wayyy too strong for my comfort. Although the therapists typically tell you to let them know, I am sometimes in a state where verbalizing my discomfort or enjoyment isn't as practical. I honestly rely (and hope) that my pulling away or sudden jerking gives them notice of possible discomfort. Not always the case, but in that I was very sore and feeling a different kind of pain after that super strong massage. My fault for not vocalizing to switch it up. I thought "I could take it". I used to be a regular at the Massage Thai Way in Ulric. They had the best prices and I loved my massage therapist. She left for another massage studio and the owner, Nee, was nothing but gracious. She told me where the girl went and never guilted me for using another place. Fast forward to now - I saw that a new location opened up in Poway. Groupon was offering a nice deal so I figured it would be a nice way to take a lunch break while I was in the area. The new location is really inland from the 15 fwy. It's past the Costco. The shop is in the same strip mall as Carls Jr & Subway. Parking was easy in the private lot. I was so surprised to see Nee working the front desk. We gave each other a hug as it had been many years since we've seen each other. The massage rooms here are so spacious. The massage tables are so large and comfortable. The tables are raised and not just simply mats on the floor. There are poles up above for the ladies to use when they step on your back. Anna was my massage gal today. She's very strong which I liked. Her English was limited but she tried her best to understand what parts of my body needed help. Thai massage isn't meant to be slight or even relaxing. It isn't a Mr Miyagi, wax on wax off, kinda deal. It's a massage where the girl uses her feet, hands, elbows to work out kinks and knots. I work out 4-6 times a week so I want to feel her work against the grain of my muscles and fix what hurts. So, that being said , let them know when the pressure is too much. I'm sure they can tone it back but I think their goal is to use strength to heal. Anna offered me hot tea afterwards. She said it's better for me than cold water (even though it was like 108 degrees outside). I took her advice. They're so kind here. You can tell Nee cares for her staff so don't be ridiculous and ask if they do special favors or whatever blah blah. It's a legit massage studio. They also opened up a location in La Jolla but the prices are higher. I bought another 60 min massage for friend as she hasn't had a Thai massage in SD before. I LOVE how they step on me & really use their body weight to get in there!. I like hard pressure, But I rarely ever need to ask them to go harder. They're extremely strong! I had my first massage at Thai Way yesterday. After reading the reviews I had high expectations but was overall disappointed. I went in because of lower back pain and asked my therapist Penny to focus on my glutes and hips during my 90 minute massage. I was shocked that I got very little of my massage in that area. It was almost like my therapist did not want to touch me there, even though it is necessary for relief from my back pain. My legs were never massaged either. Each massage room is open at the ceiling so you can pretty much hear everything. Thankfully, they were all considerate of this & kept their voices at whispers. The bed was stiff & my breasts were squished but for a Thai massage, you need a stiff bed. My lady gave me a Thai Combo massage & it was wonderful! Unfortunately I will no longer be be a client here nor my husband. We scheduled couples massage on a Saturday at 5:30. When we arrived there was only one therapist and he tells us the other one didn't look at the schedule and went home already. Considering how unprofessional this was we were still nice and said no problem and would reschedule for the following Saturday. I have text them 3 times on different days and no one replies. They always reply. They haven't even replied to me in the early morning. Obviously they took some offense at us wanting to reschedule and my husband didn't want to get a massage without me and was not comfortable with a male for him. Beyond rude and unprofessional. She continually left the room to take care of other clients (I'm assuming she was the only masseuse working) even though I had made an appointment and was not a walk-in. I've had many time massages work on me and she is in the upper level of experience. In fact she's been doing it now over 22 years if you have aches and pains and poor blood circulation, she can help it's not the normal massage. This place is amazing! Penny, my masseuse, is incredible! I have had many Thai massages but none as good as hers. I have had back surgery and have a lot of issues. I am also extremely tight and not flexible. She had me twisted and contorted like never before! She knows all the trigger points and how to loosen up all the tight spots. If you are looking for a Thai/deep tissue massage, this is the place to go. Having been to Thailand and getting a massage there, I can attest that this place is along the lines of that. They have bars on the ceiling here so the masseuses can use their feet to really get into troubled areas. It is definitely one of those experiences where it hurts but feels good at the same time.
