In May 2021, I had hours remaining on a program with MassageLuxe when I decided to cancel my membership. I was informed that the only way I could not lose on the hours was to move to a "HydroLuxe" plan. I was not able to cancel my membership without losing the hours I had already paid for. When moving to this plan, it set up a recurring monthly charge. It was $20/month until early 2025, then went up to $30/month. The problem is, I didn't know I was paying for it. No emails, no calls, no reminders of the benefits at any time, and no communication about an increase in the price. I only learned of these continued payments when my credit card expired, and their system called and texted multiple times because they couldn't collect payment. I called to cancel and request a refund and was told I couldn't cancel until my account was up to date. So pay another $30 for a service I didn't know I had and have never used? Absolutely not. This is a scam business practice and absolutely unethical in multiple ways. If someone pays for a membership that allows them to accrue hours, it should be allowed to be paused at anytime with no further accumulation. Hours shouldn't be lost, or should have a time limit to be used. If there is a membership and the system is able to recognize that it's not getting paid, it should also recognize that it's not getting used. Reminders to come in, details about changes or price increases, etc. The only resolution will be a full refund of the funds I unknowingly paid for the last 5 years. read more

Joe is absolutely phenomenal!! I Went for a couples session for my fiances birthday. My fiance had Rose and she had him so relaxed he was snoring minutes into the session! Joe went above and beyond to make sure everything was amazing! I can tell he loves what he does and BOY is he awesome at it. My neck and shoulders are always so tense, and he navigated it with precision and ease. He Paid attention to my areas of focus for the session, and he checked in on pressure preference. Thorough, talks through things at the beginning, and creates a quiet space once she begins. Huge fan (if you couldn't tell). The meh? And I say this only so you know going in- they have a business model that pushes membership big time. I personally see the membership being worth it?? But yes, a little pushy. Really the only time I get massages is when someone else buys one for me just 'cause I can think of better ways to spend my money, so lo and behold I got to go to MassageLux on my birthday a couple of weeks ago! Jason & I went in for a couples hot stone massage. I'm not really sure what I think about couples massages... they always crack me up. You don't talk or anything during the massage, and you're physically separated by a few feet, so it's really like getting individual massages but you happen to be in the same room. I feel like I'm the client massage therapists never want because I don't really relax when I'm in there... instead I think about things like what I've gotta do later, what I want to eat for lunch, what my phone number spells in words... The hot stone massage here is pretty cool because apparently those smokin' pieces of rock do the work 10x fast than regular hands alone. There was only a brief moment where the stones actually were laid on me... the massage therapist used them to actually massage my back and everywhere else. Well. Not everywhere else, but you know. There were a couple awkward movements she did that involved swinging my arms around in the air, but I actually really enjoyed the massage. I giggled a few times because I heard my fiance's therapist drop the stones once in a while. Overall, though, it did feel pretty great and was an excellent birthday present! It's of course very zen in there and does help relax you, but I still don't know if you get the bang for your buck at any MassageLux location! It also really blows when you come out of the room in a haze and have to spend fifteen minutes telling the girls at the register you do not, in fact, want to purchase a membership. Absolutely horrible experience. I had a gift certificate that I tried to give to the front desk when I checked in before the massage. They wouldn't look at it until after. Then I waited 20 minutes for the massage to start so I didn't even get the whole hour. Then after the massage they tell me my gift certificate is "too old" to use. I know for a fact it was purchased in December 2018 - apparently that's too old. I wouldn't have gotten the massage without the gift card. The massage also wasn't good. I want my money back. Went to a couple MassageLuxe locations and the massage were all pretty good. About the same as Massage Envy. Decided I really didn't need regular massages so called them to cancel. They told me I had to either COME IN IN PERSON and fill out a form, or send them a CERTIFIED LETTER stating my intent. And to make things worse, it had to be at the location I signed up at. I had the same experience as Susan and Noelle (see below), but at a different MassageLuxe location-- Chesterfield off of Clarkson Rd. The massage was subpar, but I had a Groupon so I dealt with it, but they immediately made me sign up for this "great deal" which ended up to be a complete fraud! It's really not a deal at all, they make you think it is by subtracting the $30 you spent on the Groupon which is faulty math!!! Never going back there again! I booked an appointment on the phone and was sold a Promo 90 minutes for $75. Went in to the store was given an hour long massage. When I told the lady at the front desk she said they had me down for an hour. I said that's fine just charge me for an hour then. She tried to charge me $100. When I told her that wasn't right, she said the best she could do was $75 for an hour. They bait and switched and refused to make up for their mistake. Which, I thought she should've gave me a better rate since it was only an hour and not 90 minutes. She told me it was a miscommunication and tried to make me out to be a liar trying to get over her on something. So messed up. read more

I've been here once, so consider my review accordingly, but I wasn't particularly impressed. My massage was very enjoyable, and I will be back to use my Groupon, but I was a little annoyed by the following: 1) Therapist who was overly chatty during the massage. I don't feel like sharing where I'm from, where I went to school, where I work, where I live in the middle of my massage. I'm okay with some pleasantries at the beginning of the end, but I don't want my peaceful silence interrupted. 2) They somehow booked my appointment for a week before I called to make it, so when I came in they didn't have me in the books for that day. They recognized their error and fit me in for later that day. To make up for it they promised me a higher level massage therapist, which they followed through on, and then some fancy-sounding anti-oxidant (or something) treatment, which I didn't get. 3) The unnecessary reminders to tip! It's okay and sometimes helpful to have tip calculations at the register, but there was a sign in my room with no less than SIX tip calculations offered. I know how to tip, okay? And if I didn't, one friendly reminder at the register would have sufficed. I don't need to be bombarded with tip suggestions while I'm trying to relax. read more

When studying for exams, I find that I always get painful knots in my shoulders. One day, it was painful enough that I couldn't continue studying (maybe it's postural, maybe it's because I have a short torso. whatever) so I called MassageLuxe (referred by a friend) and set up an appointment for the next day. I spoke with Jeremy and he was the nicest person ever - I also had the opportunity to meet him the next day and he was incredibly helpful and kind. Upon entering MassageLuxe, you are greeted by the front desk, which sits next to a falling water facade. After checking in, they whisk you away into the relaxation lounge where you are offered hot tea (in a variety of flavors) or water and essentially relax until your appointment. It can become a little awkward if there are other people there waiting too. Come appointment time, your therapist will whisk you away into a room and review your charts (like in a doctor's office) where they meticulously log what went down each session. If it's your first time, you'll fill out a form and can indicate trouble areas. The first therapist I had noted my incredible knots and suggested that I come back every 2 weeks to get them worked out (of course they would say that). I went back again in about 2 weeks and had a therapist named Tim. He also noted all the knots I had and after much reassurance, proceeded to really work those knots out (it was a deep tissue massage afterall!). I've been back every few weeks to have Tim keep the kinks out of my shoulder and back. He's great at what he does and is pretty comical. He'll listen to your stupid stories and laugh at the right time. Not to mention, he works the knots out!!! My shoulders no longer hurt anymore and I can study forever and ever. Plus I have a membership here now so I kind of have to go back every month. One HUGE Pro: - Late hours!!! They are open until 10 PM (last client at 9 PM) which is very convenient if you work during the day! read more

We got in on an STL Groupon while planning our trip and got an hour long massage and a hydro massage all for $30 each. It was a welcomed respite in our action packed and non-stop 5 days in St. Louis. I'm a huge proponent of individuals working in service industries, but I can't support the gimmicks of this establishment. Most massage parlors have reduced their advertised massage lengths to the time that you'll receive treatment. This particular location advertises a 90 minute massage, but will limit the treatment to no more than 80 minutes; five minutes to undress and five minutes to re-dress. The amount of time it takes to fill out the forms that are required prior to treatment is about 10-15 minutes. If you arrive on time for your appointment, this time is subtracted from the 80 minutes. I requested a 90 minute massage, but only received 65 minutes of treatment. When I mentioned the disparity to the front desk clerk/cashier, she told me that I was only entitled to the 65 minutes of treatment because I arrived close to the time for my appointment. Then had the temerity to ask for gratuity after paying for a 65 minute massage at the 90 minute rate. I intend to reach out to the management of this location, as it states that it is independently owned. read more

Won't go back! I tried Massage Luxe a few months back and really had an awful experience. Problems: My massage started late so I didn't get the full amount of time I paid for. I requested a male massage therapist but instead was given a female masseuse. The masseuse just wanted to massage my head the entire time and made these orgasmic noises during the massage. You do save $$ at MassageLuxe but I recommend spending a little more to get a good spa experience where you can really relax and enjoy yourself. read more

The location seemed average, nothing special nothing truest relaxing about it. I had a groupon to use which was an hour massage and 15 minutes of hydro luxe. When I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment a polite lady asked if I wanted hot tea or bottled water (fruit infused water would have added to the experience). She then took me to a waiting room to complete paperwork, which takes about a minute to complete. My appointment was at 4:30, the masseuse came for me and by the time we got into the room it was 4:45. She asked areas of concern, shoulders and upper back - and I also requested deep tissue. Told me to get undressed and lay down. She finally came back into the room at 4:50. The massage was ok, but not what I was expecting. I would say the pressure was probably firm, but not deep. She spent about the same amount of time on my back as she did my legs. A few times while she was walking from one side to another she bumped my head, knocking my head over - not pleasant. You could hear people waking around and talking out in the hallway, which isn't what you want when trying to relax. Then very umbruptdy, she said this concludes your massage I looked at the clock and it was 5:20. So much for an hour massage, which I know is really 50 minutes. I was able to relax a little, and even felt a little out of it as we were walking out. I was taken to the reception desk and was told your groupon includes 15 minute hydro luxe but someone is using it and I'll be about 30 minutes. Confused because it was supposed to be scheduled when I call, but I decided to relax back in the waiting room. Finally about 6:10 they came and got me for the Hydroluxe. I would say it wasn't worth the wait. You lay on a waterbed with jets spraying under you, ehhh. Then back to the reception desk where they try to upsell me on a monthly package for $10 for the first month, then $55 for each month after. Maybe if I had a better experience I would have considered it but no. I would say attention to detail would really improve this location. Holy freaking moly! I just had one of the best massages of my life. But let's start from the beginning... This past weekend I ran a 10 mile race on Saturday morning, followed by a 6.2 mile race on Sunday morning. Yeah, I'm nuts -- you can say it. Anyway, all of that running made for a very sore Stephanie on Monday morning. My legs ached, and my neck and shoulders were terribly sore; I guess lugging a camelbak filled with 3 liters of water will do that to you! Enter MassageLuxe. I pass by the place everyday on my way home from work. I was wary about it (as I am with all quickie massage places like this), but I called and made an appointment anyway. A lovely woman answered the phone and set up an appointment for me. I called at 6:45 -- my appointment was set for 7:30. I LOVE not having to book long in advance. Cool points for MassageLuxe! My masseuse was LaShay. I had a deep tissue massage scheduled. She asked me a few questions (where to focus, how much pressure, etc.) I told her exactly where I wanted the focus (my legs, neck, and shoulders please!) and that I wanted it to be as hard as she could manage (that's what she said!) The room was dimly lit and smelled of lavender. She left the room so I could undress, and then she came back in and worked her magic. She. Was. AMAZING. The pressure was just as hard as I liked it, and she focused on the areas I requested. That hour just zoomed by! Afterwards, I was led into a room with a massage table of sorts. It reminded me of a waterbed. I was allowed to try that for 15 minutes, and it was nice. After that, I spoke to the woman at the front desk, who convinced me to join. Actually, I didn't need much convincing -- I knew I wanted to join the moment my massage was over! There are three different levels of membership, but I won't bore you with the details of that. Let's just say the prices are VERY reasonable for what you get. I walked out of MassageLuxe beaming. I feel SO relaxed, and although my neck and shoulders are still a tad bit sore, they feel SO much better. I will definitely be looking forward to my 2 massages a month! read more

I feel very mixed about this place. As a lot of people on Yelp had suggested, I went here with a groupon for a massage and scheduled it in advance. Overall, my massage was very good! I had asked for deep tissue and a female and got both. She asked where specifically I wanted her to focus and followed my requests. However, I think I got gypped on my time. It was partially my fault since I showed up at the time of my massage and was warned to come early to fill out paperwork. Nonetheless, 5 minutes into my massage time my paperwork was completed. I was in the room at 7 minutes past and on the table at 10 minutes (There was a clock in the room.). My masseuse came in and told me since we were starting 15 minutes (not 10!) late, I would not get my full massage time of 1 hour. But then when she told me that my massage was over and stepped out, I noticed the clock showed 13 minutes until my hour was up! I definitely did not need that whole time to get dressed. The people at the desk are very friendly, but the corporate vibe to the establishment is a bit off-putting when you want to relax. read more

I admit it, I was a sucker for buying the membership after trying it out after a Groupon! Now that that's out of the way, I like this place. I will be upfront in saying I don't have any previous massage experience, but MassageLuxe is friendly and cheap enough for my sore neck and back (sitting at a computer all day is not your friend). I am always welcomed with a smile and a "how are you" when I walk in, even when I just come in to use the Hydro bed (which is free with membership, as often as you want). I have had a few different massage therapists, they have all been friendly and listened to what I needed from my massage. I have also gotten a facial here - again, I have nothing to compare to, but it was absolutely wonderfully relaxing - almost as much as a massage! The packages aren't too bad, especially if you can get a corporate discount. The deal I got with Groupon was even better - and if you actually READ the contract, you will realize you get two months of massages for practically nothing (the two months is the minimum amount of time for the membership). Plus, your massage or facial carry over to the next month if you don't go in the current month, so you could have a mini spa day and have a massage and facial in the same day.There really is no trickery, so I'm not sure what happened with other people. I would give this place a try if you're looking for a cheaper place to get your relaxation on. The only thing that's missing is a glass of wine. read more

Unlike many of the other reviewers here, I have nothing but good things to say about Massage Luxe. Went on a groupon deal about two years ago--they do hard sell you on the membership package but are good about letting you "freeze" it and the $5 for freezing it can go towards future product or services. I like pretty deep pressure and have never been disappointed with any of the therapists I have had at the Brentwood ML. And not that I usually have the time to go for the hydromassage but one of the perks of being a member at ML is that you have access to the hydromassage daily if you want. I like this place! Of course it was Groupon that roped me in at first, and I had read a few reviews that had me hesitant. I decided to give it a whirl as the deal was too hard to pass up. I was greeted by really nice young ladies at the front counter, and they offered me hot tea as I waited for my massage therapist. The woman I saw was a little "heavy handed", and that's the way she described herself. I told her not to go too intense with this massage, and she was very agreeable when I asked her to ease up on the pressure. Overall, it was a nice massage. I felt relaxed the whole time. Then, as all the reviews have mentioned before, I got the spiel about signing up for their membership program. They got me. I signed up. I got a new massage therapist, Stephanie, for my next session and have been going back monthly ever since! This woman does a phenomenal job and listens to your requests to make sure you get what you want out of the session. Yes, MassageLuxe is definitely a more corporate, chain type massage place, but for an hour of relaxation every once in awhile (and for the price), I'll take it! read more

I was going to this MassageLuXe pre-pandemic. I have MS and struggle with bouts of extreme muscle pain every so often. I went in on a special when I woke up with a VERY stiff neck and got roped into the membership which was atypical for me, but I was in alot of pain that summer. Of course, as time went on, I forgot to use it, but it rolled over so I was waiting until I used it to cancel it--such a terrible psychological trick, I do not recommend getting the membership. The hydrobed sure isn't worth it. Anyway the thing that really upset me is that when the pandemic hit, I called and tried to cancel. The woman on the phone told me I could place my membership on hold until I felt comfortable coming back in, so I did that. A few months later I noticed they had started charging me again, so I called to try to correct this--it was August mind you so yeah, still not comfortable getting a massage in a whole pandemic. When I called, the manager of the Brentwood location spoke to me. She was very rude in approach once she realized I was canceling my membership no matter once, and she insisted that the pause was only temporary and that she explained that to me when I called the last time. That was not at all what I had understood from our first conversation, what I understood when I put my account "on pause" was that I would need to unpause it myself. I had been charged for 2 months by the time I noticed it unpaused and I would have been happy with even the smallest smidgen of grace, maybe just a 1 month refund, a giftcard, SOMETHING!! But the manager was nothing but rude to me. On top of that, when I did get massages there, I never found a person who really gave a good deep tissue massage. SO yeah, if you have a groupon and just want to relax its fine, but don't get the membership--its a total scam, they won't be nice to you if you feel wronged at any point, and their massages are honestly not therapeutic enough to justify going there often if you struggle with chronic body pain. read more

I've been a MassageLuxe subscriber for years. When I moved to U-City I scheduled a facial followed by a massage. A couple of hours before the appt, they called and left a voicemail saying the masseuse had a family emergency and would I be good with another masseuse. I called back in 20 mins and was told they scheduled that alternate masseuse with someone else had a later appt with the first masseuse but I could take their slot an hour later. 1) don't offer me a time slot then give it to someone else. 2) Do you really expect me to have a facial, sit around waiting for an hour, then get my massage. It was a back-to-back booking! Worst experience I've had at over a dozen MassageLuxe's. Will drive a couple extra miles to one of the other franchises - I won't be coming back here. read more

I also had a groupon. I also had the hard-sell at the beginning. But I'm a runner, so it's nice to get a massage once a month after running 15-20 miles a week. When it's not race season, I freeze my account until Spring and then unfreeze it. The only thing bad about this is you have to plan when you're going to freeze it because you end up getting one more massage than you really wanted because you have to give them a 30 days notice. I had a 90 minute massage by Will at Massage Luxe in Brentwood on Hanley today. It was so wonderful I decided to create a Yelp account just so I can recommend him! He listened to me and customized the massage to fit my needs. The pressure was perfect for me (nice and firm, deep in some spots but never painful) and the strokes were long and complete. Just filed this complaint with the BBB: Went into MassageLuxe on 9/26/11 to redeem a Groupon for a prenatal massage. After the massage, while feeling relaxed and hazy from the massage, the sales rep, Dane, tried to sell me a monthly membership. I said no thanks, as I am moving at the end of October. He then said that they were offering a special to Groupon users: If we sign up for a one-month membership today, we would get $30 off and a free massage for the low price of $24.88. I said that seems like a really good deal, and asked him several times whether I was committing to anything more than the one-month membership and a free massage for $24.88, as I wouldn't physically be in the area to enjoy a membership beyond that. He insisted all I would be paying was $24.88 for membership/massage from 9/26 to 10/26. He had me sign a contract saying the membership was $54.88, but a credit card receipt showing the discounted $24.88. After my second, prenatal massage on 10/22/11, I double-checked with the sales rep/manager that I was not being billed for anything more. She said that I would actually be billed for $54.88 for the following month, as a minimum of two months is required for all memberships. She then showed me where it is written on the contract that I initialed. I told her I explicitly asked Dane the night I signed-up whether I was committing to anything beyond the one-month for $24.88 and he told me that I was not, several times. I asked why would I enroll in a two-month membership, when I was moving out of St. Louis? The sales rep/manager said she was powerless to help and gave me the general manager's information, who would be in the next day. Called Erica, the general manager on 10/23/11 and she investigated my situation. She said I could cancel my 2nd month membership for $54.88, but that I would then have to pay the remaining full price ($75 minus the $24.88 I already paid) for the massage I received yesterday, as the discounted $24.88 price only applies to people who commit to a 2-month membership. She said the ONLY ways for me to cancel my membership is to physically go into the store to sign something, or to send a certified letter. I told her I would never have agreed to pay for a $75 massage and that there was no reason for me to commit to a 2-month membership, since I am moving in 4 days. I asked her why her sales rep, Dane, would lie to me about a contract and sell me a service that he knew I would not physically be able to use. She said because she wasn't there that day, she can't take my word over his. She said that I signed the contract which said 2-months were required. I reminded her that I had just come out of a massage room and was in no position to scrutinize a contract and that I trusted the employee was giving me the correct information, especially since I signed a credit card bill for only $24.88. I said I couldn't believe a national corporation would be this misleading and dishonest and be willing to leave a customer this unhappy for $50. I asked, isn't it more important at this point for you to think I had a good experience at MassageLuxe and would consider using your service again, if you were in my geographic area, then for you to get $50-$55 more from me after coercive and misleading sales tactics? Erica said that the company can't just undo contracts customers sign and that she was powerless to do anything else. She said I could either physically come into the store to cancel my membership or pay for the remaining $50 for the $75 massage I received yesterday. I asked to speak with her superior. She gave me the COO's number of MassageLux in this region and I left him a massage asking for his immediate assistance with this matter, as I am moving out of state in 4 days. I am still waiting for his response. Something that was supposed to relieve my stress and pregnancy aches and pains ironically ended up being extremely stress inducing. read more

Well, here's the email I tried to send to Massage Luxe. Apparently if you want to make a submission to the "contact us" page, the page no longer exists.. I purchased a Groupon for myself and my mother for Mother's Day. We used our vouchers last Friday and, after discussing the experience with family and friends, everyone has suggested that I contact Massage Luxe to inform you that I received the worst massage from the staff at your Brentwood location. The Groupon stated that I had purchased 15 minutes of hydrotherapy and a 1 hour massage. First, my therapist was 10 minutes late in retrieving me from the waiting area for my 11 am appointment, for which she apologized several times, then tried to compensate for the tardiness by telling me that she would "take [me] all the way up to 12". I was already scheduled until 12, so I'm not sure how this was doing me any favors. Second, I booked an appointment for a deep tissue massage, and I checked on my paperwork that I would like deep pressure. However, my therapist never used any deeper pressure than a knuckle, and only once - on my back. She did little to no work on my hands or feet. She never even flipped me over to lie on my back. She spent more time playing with my hair than anything, which I would have appreciated had she done any actual deep tissue massage at any other time. It was the single worst massage I have ever received, and I left the room frustrated and disappointed rather than relaxed and tranquil. The therapist was overall highly unprofessional, and I had the impression that she was making things up as she went along. Fortunately, my mother had a very deep tissue massage with Sean, and said it was the best she had ever had. But again, I was angered at the way the receptionist hounded my mother as soon as she entered the lobby, dazed and drowsy-eyed, to purchase a membership when she was there as a gift. Couldn't they give her a moment's peace to enjoy her fresh and relaxed state of mind rather than pounce on her with a sales pitch? I was very thankful that she enjoyed her massage experience, since it was her Mother's Day gift, but based on my personal experience I would never book another session at Massage Luxe. read more

Massage Luxe was alright. I can see why some people might hate it though. I bought a Groupon about a year ago for the 50 minute massage plus the 15 minute hydro massage. I waited all damn year to use it and actually forgot I had it until late this April and realized it was going to expire on May 9th! So I immediately called to make an appointment for Wednesday the 9th at 9pm. I figured if I didn't spend it, Groupon would refund me. They usually have pretty good refund policies. So I wasn't too worried. I originally wanted to go to the CWE location but their Hydro machine was broken. Wanting to get my full $ worth, I headed to Brentwood instead after making an appointment. When I first walked in I was greeted warmly by the two girls working the desk. They took me to a side room where I filled out some paperwork (I had to arrived about 15 mins early to do this) and the girl from the desk made me some mint flavored tea. (They have a variety of flavors or just bottle water if you don't like tea.) I love it when places do this. It was really calming but ironically it probably had caffeine in it, LOL. When I was done, she came in and took the paperwork and then my therapist came in and introduced herself as Katie. She led me back to a room, asked me if I needed to use the restroom before starting, and then she began the massage after I undressed. She made sure that firm pressure was OK as I indicated on my sheet, and asked if I wanted her to focus on a specific area(s) of my body. I told her I had just started running again a few days ago and my quads were kind of sore as well as my shoulders from lifting weights. She made note of that. I did have to tell her to go lighter on my legs than my arms but that was all the direction I needed to give. She just did her thing and it felt pretty darn good. Was it the best massage I'd ever had? I really have no idea. I've only ever had about 3 professional massages in my life. The first one was pretty good, the second terrible, and third--from Massage Luxe--was pretty good. I'd probably ask for her to massage again if I went back to that location. I really liked the hot towels she wrapped around my feet and head, felt sooo good. Also the massage table was heated!! It was so relaxing! The lighting was dim and relaxing music was on too. Awesome. After she finished with the massage, I put on my clothes and got to use the hydro bed thing. It was also pretty relaxing. A big rubber waterbed type of thing with a controller attached to it so you can adjust the settings as you like. You don't need to be undressed for this, and I got 15 minutes on it. It was pretty cool but the headrest was kind of uncomfortable. They should put a towel down or something for your head... When that was done I presented my Groupon and left a tip on my credit card. The girl at the desk was of course doing her sales pitch, trying to rope me into a membership. After reading all of the reviews here, I knew to stay clear. It was SO confusing. She said because I had a Groupon it would only be $10 for my next month and then I could "cancel after that" but it was not made obvious at first that I'd still have to pay $78something for the month after that before I could cancel. So yeah. You are basically signing up for a two month membership if you agree to it. And so it's basically (with the Groupon deal) like paying $44 twice for each massage, a total of $88 something. I guess that's actually not a bad price but I didn't know if I'd actually have time to use them or not, and she did claim they "rolled over" if I didn't use them, but I am leery of their sales tactics. I am sure there is some catch, like they auto rope you into another month if you sign something. So the bottom line here? Massage Luxe can be enjoyable, yes. But the secret is to: (1) Buy a Groupon for $30 instead of paying $50 or more for a massage or facial. (2) Make appointment, go in, use Groupon. Make sure to specify over the phone if you want a male or female massage therapist. I always prefer the ladies. (3) Go in, get your massage/facial, and enjoy it! Don't be afraid to tell them which areas ache and which ones to work on, etc. It's their job. (4) When you are done with your massage/facial, DO NOT sign any fucking paperwork. Just get the hell out of there. (5) Wait for another Groupon to come out, and repeat starting with step (1). What do you do if they start to hound you to buy a membership? Calmly tell them you are thousands of dollars in debt from *insert thing here* (I said school) and that you can barely afford to pay your rent/mortgage/whatever and guilt them into not hounding you anymore.
