Y'all, we came from Alaska to visit family here and decided to go to Massey's BBQ The food was 100 percent on point! Any place that makes their own onion rings and fries up their own okra (it looked like they picked the okra right from grandma's garden!) is a winner in my book. Those were the best onion rings I've had at any place! Let's get to the BBQ. My wife and I had the brisket and ribs which were so juicy - just perfect. I love the dry rub flavor and their sauce has a nice touch of sweet. My daughter ordered loaded Mac and cheese with brisket on it. Loaded is the operative word. The overall vibe is so bright and warm and inviting. The natural wood theme is super cool. The workers were friendly and you could tell they love working there. Heard mixed reviews but had to try it yesterday (4th). Loved the remodel ... great revamp of the previous business. Met both owners, super inviting and friendly! We had the brisket, pork ribs, onion rings, and okra. The brisket was tough and needed more than the plastic knives we had. Ribs had great flavor and fell off the bone. But like the brisket, it appeared to be in the "warner" too long. Which brings me to the overall critique ... wealthy family takes a hobby and turns it into a restaurant. From the open office table in the dining room to the lack of training to service staff ... this will be a money pit to owners. Advice? The meat was very dry and instead of sliced brisket it came out very chunky. Personally I like nice sliced brisket! Service was excellent and the quality of what they have done in Granbury is amazing! I am sure that they will work the kinks out and when they do I will review again. read more

My favorite BBQ in Granbury! The food is always good and the employees are very helpful and kind. Every time we are there the owner is there and wants to make sure we are satisfied. I usually expect to-go orders to be lesser quality than eating in the actual restaurant but it's always hot and fresh and ready to go! We are so glad the moved here from Glen Rose! Still in soft open mode, I wasn't sure if Massey's would be open today (4/2/2026), but they were. All day I had been craving a sausage sandwich, and Massey's did not disappoint. My wife enjoyed her pulled pork sandwich. And our friend Mark gobbled up his Texas cheese steak sandwich, on Texas toast no less. Service is at the counter, and if need be, your food will be brought to your table, as was the case for the cheese steak. There is plenty of parking, and seating, inside and out. The highlight of the meal was when Mr. Massey stopped by our table to see how everything was. So its great to have a small chain, family owned BBQ place in the Hood. The food here is amazing. Barbecue for a good pice. The staff is almost as sweet as their sweet tea. If you're looking for a spot to grab a quick bite or even if you're looking for a spot to sit and hang a while and listen to some live music this is definitely the spot. We made it to the granbury location. Very nice and Sweet folks. Brisket was ok not great just ok. Couldve been moister. Jalapenos Sausage was delectable. So there's a new kid in town...and it did not disappoint!!! Went and tried Massey's BBQ for dinner and it was really really really good! Hubby ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket (the moist end) 1/2 pound of ribs, potato salad and beans and I had the brisket street tacos. The brisket was seasoned well, tender and moist!! The ribs were cooked perfectly!! You can bite into it and it just almost falls off the bone, perfectly, so it's not so messy! The brisket tacos were next level good! Everything was down right delicious! The owner was making rounds and stopped to introduce himself and to ensure everything was good. He seems to be a very nice man (he gently tipped his hat as he shook my hand, old fashioned manners speak loudly to me!) The restaurant was clean and spacious. Top notch! Food was OK to really good; however their pricing methodology is very dysfunctional and high. Service suffers because of understaffing and failure to plan/prepare and anticipate volume. (Ran out of baked potatoes at 6:30 pm). Location not well suited to handle much due to lack of parking and organization. Too bad, but there are better choices for BBQ in our area. read more

Great pork ribs and burnt ends! My wife enjoyed the smoked turkey and she said, "Delish". Also enjoyed the onion rings and pinto beans! Loved that the owner was there to greet everyone and inform the lay of the land. The ambiance is inviting and cheerful! Will be going back to try the other meats and sides. That's the problem, nothing stood out of what we tried on the first visit. My wife, daughter and I tried this place for the first time last Sunday after church hoping for some decent food. We ordered simple things to measure if they're worth investing in and let's be honest at what bbq places are charging now days they need to get it right. Sliced brisket sandwich- no slice just chunks and dry..strike one, pulled pork sandwich- chunks again and dry, strike two... hamburger- average nothing to write home about but the fries were gross. Limp greasy fries. Now the place is new to the area and will chalk it up to opening blues or maybe the bbq master was having a bad day or whatever? But we will give it another try to be fair but spending over $ 50.00 dollars for what we had and through half of it away ... no Bueno. Not to mention eating outside with a posted NO SMOKING sign and the people behind us puffing away. Personal walked by more than once but nothing done. read more

Finally a very traditional all Texas BBQ and no brakes kind of joint in Granbury. Thank you! Smoked meats I ate at lunch time were (Brisket, Pork Ribs, and regular Sausage link) and they were very good. Tasty sauce that had some spice, sweet, and a little heat. Onion rings and fried okra as a side are terrific! Did not get to try all other sides yet. But I will be back and would recommend this to anyone that lives in surrounding areas. Well, I have been to Massey's bbq in Granbury several times. As far as I'm concerned today was the last time. They have changed some things around maybe trying to improve? My chopped beef sandwich was not put together when I ordered, it was premade and prewrapped. Don't know how long it sat there before it was ordered. After church most of the tables inside were filled, except in the area closest to the entertainment, so we decided to go outside. There was a table outside, but we decided to go back inside because of the flies and bird poop on the table and benches. So, inside we went to the table farthest from the entertainment. The entertainment was pleasant, but we were a group of six people and could not have a conversation because of the music. We had to swat away flies with each bite we took and make sure they didn't decide to land on our food. We left as soon as we could finish eating! read more
