I walked into Massey's to place an order and saw one of the employees smoking a vape on the line looking right at the customers. He put the vape down then walks back on the line and continued making a pizza he must have already started. He went to reach for something and I was hoping it was gloves since he didnt wash his hands but it was a cup of cheese. I asked the cashier who was taking my order if they could put on gloves and she said no. I said no what yall don't have to wear gloves or yall don't have gloves and she was saying no as I asked the questions. I placed the order because of the Superbowl. The best thing about Masseys in Whitehall was the Lunch Buffet. The Fried Chicken was hot, juicy and tasty. Now they have changed to Chicken Fingers. NO GOOD! No flavor! No Dipping Sauce. The pizza is pretty good. Not the best of course (that's Robino's), but far better than the chains. But this review is about the cinnamon pizza. There is a huge disparity the size of the Grand Canyon between what they advertise the dessert is and what it actually is (see the photo). I paid $7 for this. I feel like they should have paid me that much to eat what they gave me. It's patently obvious they used hardly any cinnamon and they did not give it proper time to bake. Ive been seeing the commercial for the deep dish pizza. Epic fail!!! Ordered my pizza was told 35 minutes, was surprised how they gave a time that the pizza should be ready, not knowing how busy they would be, so it added a extra 25 minutes of waiting to my time. Manager gave a free drink for the wait. Looked at the pizza it looked really good, lol to my surprise it was awful. $21 for a 12 inch deep dish pizza with just beef, onions, and mushrooms. Thinking this can't go wrong, this pizza had no taste, no flavor or seasoning. I should have took a picture but I didn't. My 1st time and last time trying Massey's pizza. Don't understand how they can be in business for as long as they have been. After reading the joke on the box, Cadillac of pizza (lol) definitely not on my top 5 of choices. This might be the grossest place I've ever been to. Total chaos. Employees and their children (?) running all over, into the kitchen, back to the dining room. There seemed to be no system at all to how they took orders or completed them. I saw multiple people preparing food that certainly hadn't washed their hands. I really can't stress enough how disgusting this place is. I prepaid online or we would have left. My kids love the pizza and I hope they won't get dystentry, but only time will tell! There were 10 of us tonight! Ordering went smooth and our pizza and meatball sub was very delicious. Senior discount was better than the coupon we had. The Pizza was crispy with thin crust. I've had: In New York: Totonno's Lombardi's Grimaldi's Patsy's John's La Villa Apizz In California: California Pizza Kitchen Mulberry St. Extreme Pizza In Chicago: Brick's Gino's Lou Malnati's Pizzeria Uno Also, I am pretty sure I've tried every single chain in "Anywhere, U.S.A." imaginable - from Pizza Hut to Domino's to Chuck E. Cheese! Still, after all of those pizza experiences both amazing and horrible alike, I have harbored a single secret pizza place. That place is my hometown pizza parlor - Massey's. They have 10 locations in Ohio, but this one in Whitehall is the original (opened in 1946 by Jim and Dan Massey). Massey's slogans include "The Perfect Pizza" and "The Cadillac of Pizzas," but I just know them as one of the first pizzas I ever had. I was a very picky eater as a kid, but this place quickly became a favorite. Some of its attributes include: 1) It has the most delicious crispy thin crust 2) The bottom of the pizza is always crispy - never chewy 3) The sauce is lightly applied, but the taste is thick and tomatoey and a little bit spicy-sweet. 4) The bottom of the pizza has cornmeal allllllllll over it. That's the secret really. It's amazing. 5) They use - and I am NOT kidding here - about 150 pepperoni to top each pizza. Though it is sometimes referred to as the Pepperoni Lovers pizza, it really is just their regular pepperoni pizza. If you want a less intense pepperoni experience, you have to ask for the Super Saver Pepperoni. It's less expensive and has a normal amount of pepperoni. Anyway, if ever I'm in Ohio, I have to have Massey's. It is such a great family place. It's always full of kids coming home from softball games, soccer games, etc., though I usually order to go. My whole family loves their pizza, and a lot of places have tried to copy it. There was once a joint in like Pataskala or somewhere in the country called Etna that tried and got really close. Then I think they switched owners and the perfect cornmeal crust and delicious sauce went away. I am so glad I live in California now where I can't order Massey's all the time. We've ordered for pickup here twice now. The first time we had no issues with our pizza or mozzarella sticks. They were ready on time and were good. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is thanks to the first visit. This time, not so much. We got two subs and garlic dippers. No issues on the meatball sub, but the veggie sub we ordered was a disaster. We specifically said no onion, and it says this on the receipt they gave us as well. The sub we got was missing lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, and Italian dressing and was LOADED with onions. The picture I attached is just the onions from one side of one half of the sub. My husband went back to get a replacement and it was not any better. We were starving by this time so we didn't want to wait for yet another replacement, and at least this one didn't have onions. I've had their pizza a few times now. I always get their pepperoni pizza. I love that they use the small pepperoni and cover the whole pizza with it. It cooks faster and becomes crispy not burnt which almost tastes like bacon. Their normal crust is all thin crust so it's not sitting in your stomach like a rock. I have also had their spaghetti and meatballs. It's ok, nothing super special. Their garlic cheese bread is good and cinnamon bread is too. This is the original Massey's location that began over 70 years ago. Of course, I grew up on what is now called "The perfect pizza taste". When you dine in, the pizza is hot and delicious. Other options they have are buying a "partial bake" and taking it home and finishing it on your own pizza stone. I went to another massey buffet out near Grove City and it was wonderful. The Whitehall location is on the verge of horrible. A clue should have been that there were literally no cars in the parking lot and three tables were filled. The pizza which should be the main attraction looked like it had been there for days. Think a college students pizza that's been sitting on their stove a few nights. The salad bar was extrodinarily sad and the ingredients hadn't been replinished. The chicken wings were super bland but they were the only thing fresh when we first arrived. I will say when I asked for fresh pizza the associate who said he doesn't know anything about lunch because he generally works nights, did bring out fresh pizza, not the one we requested but after spending $19.23 for two buffets, beggers can't be choosers, right? Then a little later brought out pepperoni which was nice. The only negative that it was no one left but me and my boyfriend and now there's all that fresh pizza. I would say it's definitely not worth 9.99, maybe 7-750 pp. Just go to Grove City if you can. read more

WOW! What a real shame. This USED TO be the best pizza in the City. I ordered a large half pep and cheese to go and got it home and was very very disappointed. It was burned. Not only on the bottom but the edges were also burnt. I called and the management didn't seem overly concerned with customer service. They offer to replace it but I wanted a refund. The other reason for a poor rating was the place was filthy. The floors were dirty and the restrooms were nasty. Again, what a real shame for what used to be a shining star. Maybe management might want to get it right with their own stores before they expand and franchise. Massey's Pizza is yummy. It is cut in rectangles. The pepperoni was small circles that curled on the edges as it got crispy. The crust was crisp on the bottom yet chewy-different than the Chicago pizza we are used to, but has great flavor. The staff was helpful and friendly with prompt delivery. I finally gave into all of the hype and ordered a Massey's Pizza and I was not impressed--I was flat out disappointed. The owner must be sleeping with someone at the Dispatch in order for this place to get "Best Pizza in Central Ohio" year after year. In fact, this pizza is an exact carbon copy of a Donato's pizza but made with cheaper ingredients. It's nice that they are a local chain but that's not enough to earn my business. By far the best pizza in Columbus is locally owned and made at one location...Planks Cafe on Parsons. If I moved away from Columbus and came back to visit Planks would be one of the first places I would stop. Massey's wouldn't even cross my mind. There was very little sauce, the crust was your typical thin crust cornmeal dusted crust, toppings were fresh but had no flavor, and this thing was super greasy. The restaurant itself lacks any character and screams "chinese version of a pizza shop". You know what I'm talking about...every chinese restaurant you go into looks the same....this looks the same as every junky pizza place. Again Planks wins in this department having a unique restaurant with a lot of character showing their local support for businesses and sports. I won't be ordering from here again and if I ever see a poll to vote on best pizza in Columbus, this place is not getting my vote. Yuck. read more

I guess this is what you get when you order a half and half pizza, literally about 3/4 and 1/4 and then cut the wrong angle. There were literally only 5 slices (and since they are party cut they are small) of pizza that only had pepperoni, the rest had pepperoni and green olives. The pizza was also a little over cooked. We had added garlic cheese bread that ended up being slightly under cooked. When we sent the pictures to Masseys FB page with our issues they were viewed within 30 minutes and almost 20 hours later we got no response, even after telling them we would post reviews everywhere we could. So if you are looking for to spend over $20 for overcooked pizza that is no where near a 1/2 1 topping and other 1/2 2 toppings and undercooked garlic cheese bread then this is the place for you. As for us, we will choose to go to one of the numerous other places that offer the same style pizza, actually respond to customers, will get the order right and cost less. read more

I love Masseys pizza and grew up on it as a kid. The service there can be sometimes slow (especially for delivery) but in my opinion its worth the wait. The staff is very nice and always take good care of us. The only bad thing I have to say about the place is the bathrooms need more TLC. Expext 45 min to an hour for del and 30 min if you order inside. Your best bet is to order first and then go pick it up at the drive thru (which is very convenient). Thanks Masseys! Even with COVID-19, I order from the Massey's pizza place. First time ordering food there. I'm thinking carry out is only going to take 15-20 minutes to be finished and ready for pick-up. I was told by the end of placing my order that it's going to be 30-45 minutes. That was at 6:22 pm. I go to pick up my order. It's still not ready. It's 7:13 by this time. You have the manager not having there mask on their face and the lady who was on the front end with out her mask on her face as well. I asked again where was my order after another customer got a refund due to them messing up on the order and it still wasn't ready for them when they was there waiting for their order. I got some boneless wings with barbecue sauce for 7.99. This is what I got. Came in for the lunch buffet today. Only two slices of pizza on the bar I asked if they were going to put more out and the lady said in a few minutes. 19 minutes later they put out one cheese pizza for 26 customers it lasted 33 seconds. 11 minutes later they put out a pepperoni it lasted 33 seconds I managed to get two slices. I forgot to mention I had to clean my own table. Everyone complained but it didn't matter. I won't be back and from listening to others I'm sure they won't be back either read more
