    Sausage and onions pizza

Another traditional birthday dinner with friends at Rubino's! Some of us have been going here since the early 70's! Pizza hasn't at all changed and spaghetti and meat sauce is amazing, I understand! Same ambience but newer tables.

    Pepperoni pizza

The thin crust is unlike anything I've tried. So so crispy! Nice crunch w every bite. We got the works and pepperoni and to be honest we both enjoyed the pepperoni pizza better. The salad is just a basic Italian dressing salad which was unremarkable. We also tried the spaghetti which was served with overly salty sauce...I would recommend avoiding. This place is cash only.

You walk in, and there are booths along the walls, as well as larger tables in the middle surrounded by familiar banquet hall chairs. Pizzas are made on the other side of the counter. The menu is simple yet effective: it features pizzas, ravioli, and spaghetti. Cans of soda cost $1, and final checks are written by hand. There are plenty of regulars, and the staff greets many of them by name. Rubino's is a Bexley institution. This is a cash only location. Rubino's is a strong contender for the title of King of Bexley Pizza, alongside Bexley Pizza Plus and, to a lesser extent, Anthony's. I appreciate the style points for its longevity and old-school charm--there's no delivery and no cardboard boxes; instead, they use ingenious folded paper tents. When I ordered by phone, they answered using what is likely their original black countertop rotary dial phone. Rubino's serves thin-crust pizza, and we always request extra cheese. The tomato-based sauce is of the traditional variety, and there are no specialty ingredients; this is strictly old school. The pizza is delicious--it's the kind of pizza that defined pizza in the U.S. back in the day. I like to order mine with extra cheese for full coverage, along with whatever toppings I'm in the mood for.

Dined in review: Rubino's is paper thin pizza in an old school family atmosphere. Quality ingredients, fresh vegetables and zesty sauce. If you love a thin pizza, try Rubino's. Beware there may be a small wait as they are extremely busy and only accept CASH.

I have heard about Rubino's forever, I'm just never in the area, until tonight. It was very crowded in the small lot and on the street and every table inside was full. I gotta say I just don't get it. To each their own. My first indication that it was gonna be a bust was watching them make the pizza and seeing the ingredients and the dough. I was surprised how cheap the pizza was and when I saw the dough and toppings I realized why. I drove home with it in the car, it did not smell appetizing. Then tasting, it was not good IMO. I would have to say most of the frozen pizzas in the grocery are better than this pizza. Sorry I just don't see what the big deal is. It's very bad.

    Half cheese half pepperoni.

If you live locally Rubino's is an institution. Thin, excellent. Not a big doughy pizza. Must visit once.

My dad and I shared a pickle, mushroom, and extra cheese pizza and a salad and we loved them. The service was very fast. The ambiance is very old school which is nice and they are cash only.

Pros: - Awesome staff - A variety of options - Thin, crispy dough - Delicious sauce and seasoning (we tried the Combo with Mushroom) - Reasonable prices ($21 for large pizza and large salad that could feed 3 people easily) -Supporting local (everyone knew names of regulars and their orders Cons: - Cash only - Dining room is tight (and on Saturday, no tables available around dinner time) - I wanted a little more cheese, but honestly it's a personal preference and not a criticism of the quality of the pizza My partner and I are looking forward to trying their other pizzas.

    Pepperoni with extra cheese.

Unfortunately, the Gina's Gem was nothing like what was advertised. I was expecting warm, crusty bread with a roasted cheese dip on the side so you could tear pieces of bread and dip them into the cheese. Instead, the cheese had already been spread directly onto the bread and toasted together. Because of that, the bread lost the texture you would expect--it wasn't crusty or dippable at all. It ended up soft, almost soggy, and the cheese was baked onto the bread rather than being a dip. The whole appeal of the dish was supposed to be the warm bread with the roasted cheese to dip into, and that part was completely missing. Included with the bread was a hot honey that missed the mark on being "hot" and some kind of jam. These options just made everything even more soft....which should have been impossible. The salad was actually the best part of the meal - even though it was a bit spicy. I've always had good experiences here in the past, so this was a big letdown--especially for the price. I just wish the to-go version of the dish matched how it's described, or that expectations were set correctly when ordering. Unfortunately, this experience made me lose all trust in ordering from here again. I can't believe we waited until exactly 3pm (when they opened) to order this.... At the very least the pizza should have been hot.

The sandwich was honestly the highlight of the meal. It was delicious, and the pizza dough as the bread was such a unique touch that you really don't find at many Italian sandwich spots around Columbus. The pizza itself was just okay. As you can see from the picture, the toppings weren't distributed very evenly, so some slices had mostly sauce with barely any cheese while others had way more toppings and cheese but less sauce. I also wish the pizza had been cooked a little longer overall because it was pretty floppy and doughy. One thing that makes it tough is that once the movie starts, it's hard to go back and ask for changes or anything since the theater is packed and getting in and out of the seats feels disruptive. We'll definitely be back to Grandview Theater because we love the experience overall, but next time I'll probably stick to the sandwiches and popcorn and skip the pizza.

No "best pizza in town" ego. Just a quiet little window cranking out square pies that deserve a standing ovation. I ordered the classic red top -- already a bold move -- and added pesto because balance matters and I like to live a little. The result? Beyond reproach. Fresh, loaded toppings. Sauce with depth. And that crust... that beautiful Detroit crust. Crispy edges with that caramelized cheese halo, but still chewy and pillowy inside. The textural contrast is what separates amateurs from legends -- and this? This was legend-level execution. Easily top 3 Detroit-style pizzas I've had. And that's not a casual statement. When I arrived around 10pm on a Sunday night, the place looked like it was in transition to closing (chairs flipped over on tables, no patrons, staff members watching TV in empty booths). However, I was welcomed in to order by the friendly woman at the counter. She answered a few of my questions and when I asked what her favorite was, she immediately said, "Buckeye Garlic Pizza." I took her advice and was also able to add up to three toppings at no additional charge (mushroom, olive and sausage). I took a seat and waited about 10 minutes for my personal 10" pie, which came out hot and with a friendly, "Thank You, Sweetie." I ran the pie back to my hotel and opened up the box. The pie looked amazing. Perfectly crispy outer crust, six cheeses and garlic, along with my toppings. The pie was pretty damn good, with steam coming off the top. The six-cheese blend was interesting, with the dominant flavors being American and Cheddar. The sausage, olives and mushrooms were all fresh and plentiful. Definitely a good option to satisfy my hunger for a late night pizza in Downtown Columbus.
