After almost 62 years of not having a fresh out the oven Massey's pizza I found myself in heaven. We have had them shipped over the years to Arizona and while they were great nothing replaces right out of the oven. Growing up in Whitehall we would never get pizza from anywhere else. We have gone to Massey's for over 20 years. Today we encountered the most rude and disrespectful employee we have ever encountered. His name is Nick and he took our order upon entering the business. He started yelling at us and several other customers who came in with us. One gentleman attempted to open the door a couple minutes before 11:00. I told him that they will not open the door until 11:00. It was a few minutes past 11:00 before the door was opened. Upon entering, Nick began yelling at the man about not trying to open the door before 11:00. I think Nick got up on the wrong side of the bed. When I placed my order, he began yelling at me and telling me that he didn't need people telling him how to do his job. He said he had already worked 80 hours this week. Regardless of how many hours he had worked, he had no business disrespecting his customers and yelling at everyone. Nick needs an attitude adjustment and to learn to show some respect to his customers. We will not be returning to this Massey's because we do not appreciate being treated so disrespectfully, nor seeing others being treated disrespectfully. Massey's needs to finds an employee to replace Nick before he drives away all their customers. read more

I recently visited Massey's with a friend and it felt like a visit to a new restaurant.  It's been over 15 years since I've been there and I honestly don't remember anything beyond the AYCE at lunch time at the Main Street location in Whitehall (which I doubt they do anymore), but I digress. Dining with a friend, I ordered The Godfather Deep Dish (my favorite pizza is deep dish), looking forward to that Italian sausage and Portofino pepperoni.  It did not disappoint, either.  Every chew of each forkfull that I put in my mouth was delicious!  Nice and hot, out of the oven, with just enough cheese and tomato sauce to give it that nice substance in both flavor and texture.  Even the crust was flavorful. I ordered a sausage and pepperoni stromboli "to go" for my wife, which she and my sons devoured.  I managed to get a bite dipped in marinara sauce and I have to admit, it was really good. Still, me, being a creature of habit, I'll end up getting that deep dish next time I go through instead of trying something else. read more

My hubby, friend and I stopped her for pizza. My hubby and I had not been here in a few years. The building was nice and kept clean. We liked the easy to read lighted menu above the counter to order. We ordered their 14" supreme pizza which comes with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and onions. Unfortunately, I have a severe mushroom allergy and need to stress that when I place an order to alert the pizza cooks that no mushroom can touch , be removed, or even have my pizza cut by a knife that was used on another pizza before mine that contains mushrooms. I had them put black olives in place of the mushrooms. In addition we got fountain drinks. The young man took my order but seemed to be annoyed when I explained my severe allergy. After about 20 minutes our amazingly tantalizing pizza arrived. It was perfect! Since Massey's use cornmeal for the crust there really isn't a crust and the sauce and veggies are all the way to the edge. The crisp and thin crust and veggies were incredible! Next time I'm back in Ohio, I will make sure to stop in and get another fantastic pizza. read more

Massey's is a gem for a couple of reasons. If you love thin crust this pizza will do it for you! It isn't cracker thin, but just about as thin as you can get before reaching cracker status. Toppings are overloaded. For me, I think I'll ask for half the amount of pepperoni next time. It was double the amount- but without an additional charge. Topping lovers would LOVE Massey's. I just like an equal amount of cheese to pep. Such great quality ingredients though, and the best pepperoni I've ever had. Just slightly spicy. $13.99 for a 12" and that was 3 meals for me. Hadn't been here in years. A good local chain, with a loyal following. Sweetie and I went for a pizza on a (hopefully) quiet Sunday evening. Service was good, and friendly. The pizza (pepperoni) was burned on one edge, but not too badly to eat. We also got a large salad to split (eating healthy, you know...) Our enjoyment of the evening and meal was diminished by a loud family in the next room with unruly kids. Not the kids' fault- the parents let them run wild, throwing toys, trying to get into the kitchen, etc. Parents were almost as bad. We could barely hear ourselves talk at points, and almost said something to them- but I don't think either of us could have left it at a polite "please keep it down." They clearly did not care. Not letting that affect the review- food and service, definitely three stars. Just wish the parents would have controlled themselves and the kids. I ordered this pizza because the hotel recommended it. It seems they don't offer hand tossed pizza, only thin. I found the pizza to not be as good as the chain pizza restaurants and in my experience, some of the smaller local pizza chains have always been better, more authentic, but today that simply wasn't so. I wish we had Massey's out West. This is just the kind of chain pizza joint that's the inexpensive, yummy, everyday (well, hopefully not EVERYday), common, basic, really tasty pizza. Sober, wasted, hanging, or somewhere in lucidity in between one of those states, it's darn good. The thin, cornmeal crust... the teeny pepperonis that curl up and get dark & crispy around their circumferences, each catching extraneous processed meat grease like little saucers... the perfect ratios of sauce : cheese : toppings : crust. Yup, it's good. Just beware that they cut it like a grid, so you lose track of how much you've really eaten of the pie. Yikes! read more

Despite a lot of hype about how it predates Donatos in the Columbus pizza game, Massey's is mediocre pizza. Though Massey's sticks to the Columbus-style pizza fundamentals -- cornmeal-dusted crust, provolone cheese, edge-to-edge toppings -- they stray from the local standard of square-cut pieces in favor of the more traditional pie-style cut. It doesn't serve this pizza well. What's more, the pizza has too much sauce. The one upside is the ultra-crisp crust. It's certainly enviable by other local chains who suffer from soggy crusts. With many locations in buildings that look like converted Rax restaurants -- ick -- Massey's isn't much ambiance-wise either. read more

Hello, I order from Massey's religiously 1-2 times a week. Today the pizza arrived and it didn't feel hot as it normally does. So I opened the box and the pizza looked weird. As the delivery guy is standing there I took a bite off the corner of one of slices and it didn't taste as it normally does. So I gave the pizza back to the delivery guy. He returned my money. About 10 mins later I get a call from Nick the manager at the Gahanna Massey's location asking me why I ate the food and returned it. Which was ridiculous because the driver stood right there and watched me take ONE bite from one of the slices. Then I advised him that the pizza didn't taste right and that I order from them quite often. You could pull my history and verify that. He screamed at me and called me a horrible person because I returned the pizza. He said they will never accept any of my orders. Which is fine I have never received such horrible customer service from a 'Manager'. Massey's please train your managers on proper customer service skills!!! read more

I thought this was a fantastic pizza. The crust was thin and properly crispy, and just slightly crunchy around the edge. The pepperoni was delicious, and the sausage tasty and mild. My only problem - if you can call it a problem - was that, based on my experience with just about every pizza joint I've been to where they tend to be a bit sparse with toppings, I ordered double pepperoni and double sausage. But Massey's are not stingy with their toppings! We got more than plenty! If I lived in the area, I imagine this would be my go-to pizza place when I wanted "good" pizza (rather than cheaper pizza-chain pizza), even though was a little pricier than I expected. read more

After decades of being a customer i called tonight to order a pizza to replace one that was delivered burned. After the burned pizza delivery i called and asked for another pizza but it was either going to take up to 2 hours or they were not willing to deliver one but said they would give me a credit. Masseys burns their pizzas frequently so unless you ask them not to burn it, there's a good chance you will end up with a burned dry pizza. When i called to use my credit the manger refused - saying that i had hung up. I did hang up but they have had our contact info for decades. There is so much wonderful food in Gahanna and Columbus -and other restaurants know and appreciate repeat customers. The pizza is good when it's not burned but not worth the terrible customer service. read more

I really enjoy this location and the friendly staff. The lunch buffet is reasonably priced- around 10 bucks with a drink. I highly recommend their taco pizza and their regular pepperoni (It is the crispy, curled kinda). I also recently tried their cauliflower crust pizza and give it two thumbs up- it is about 2 bucks more then the normal pizza, but for diabetics watching their carb intake. It is worth it! Massey's Pizza is really.....not good. I mean it's better than Pizza Hut or Domino's, but here the crust is flimsy and just droops, at least it's not a greasy crust. The toppings are fairly decent and fresh but the peperoni is just a grease filled mess that ushers on immediate cardiac arrest. For your dollar I guess the lunch buffet is solid but still just average at best pizza. If you go across the street to Coaches (which is not a Pizza joint) you will find far superior pizza than Massey's. The location itself isn't much to brag about....Its fairly spacious so good for kids parties but outside of that it doesn't offer much. read more

Even though I typically order elsewhere, for Idecided to give Massey's a try once again. I was disappointed for a couple of reasons. First of all, the total I was given was different because it didn't include the delivery charge. I had spent time gathering enough cash for the order and a tip. I had also placed $2.00+ change in my granddaughter's piggy bank. Unfortunately, I was left with less than $2.00 for the tip. As for the pizza, it was burned black all around the edges. This is a review only of their lunch buffet. The price is pretty reasonable at ~$8.50 which includes your drink. For pizzas they usually offer pepperoni, sausage, cheese, or supreme. It's the same thin crust as normal Massey's, but they skimp out a bit on the toppings compared to a non-buffet order. Also available is a salad bar, cut up Italian sub (meat & cheese on bread only, but you can dress it up from the salad bar), a cinnamon sugar dessert pizza, and a red sauce pasta with garlic bread. The food isn't amazing, but it's serviceable to fill you up at a good price. They have a large dining area and plenty of TVs tuned to ESPN. It's a pretty efficient set-up to pay and immediately get in line for the food. read more

We visited Massey's on a busy Sunday evening. The place is set up so that everyone has a view of at least one of the TVs playing one of the many NFL football games. You make your order at the counter and they bring the food to you. While the place itself is not the nicest the food is always served quickly and piping hot. Hubby and I are both on the keto diet. And we became very excited when we heard Maseys had cauliflower pizza. This is the second time we've ordered it. First time nice pleasant lady answered the phone. Food was good. So we made a return trip on a Tuesday afternoon, keep in mind this was a non busy time. This time a man who seemed like we were interrupting his day answered the phone. Very short with me as I ordered over the phone for my husband to pick up. Hubby goes into pick up the pizza the rude man is short with him as well and he and overhears a conversation about how this man is the owner. Wait. What? This rude man owns this place? We love the cauliflower pizza but $13.50 for a 10" pizza is kinda pricey and why go there when I can get better service and pizza just as good at Eagles in New Albany. I really doubt we will be back. I'm a fan of Massey's pizza. There's not much like it with the crispy cornmeal crust and small but large quantity of pepperonis on every pie. They do the rectangle cut instead of triangle slices, use provolone cheese and pack on the toppings. I'm not sure why some people are so critical. Their crispy crust is so much better than the limp soft ones you see at other joints. And I thought the sauce did have good flavor, although they seem to skimp on it. This location could use some up keep. It looks kinda dingy inside and the floor and most of the tables were dirty when we came in. I grew up on Massey's. It was the standard by which I compared all other pizzas. When it went through the period where they all almost went out of business (early 2000's?) people rallied to save it. While we were glad for it, the Gahanna location has always BIG TIME skimped on the sauce since then. I don't know about the other review who said it had too much sauce, he must've lucked out, but generally you have to ask for extra extra sauce for it to be like it used to be when I was a kid. It's also probably one of the more expensive pizzas in town which is why we don't go there as often as we like because it can be so hit or miss at this location. read more

Word of caution.. if you get a delivery and they make a mistake they would like it back. I would be concerned if it was redelivered to the correct owner. We ordered 4 pizza's 2 correct and 2 wrong. I called to let them know they had mistakenly given me two incorrect pizza's. Mike the manager at the time said they would replace them .. good so far.. then he said he would take the others back. This is where I got concerned. What do they plan to do with the Pizza's that were incorrect. Not to mention I would be waiting for the others pizza's to feed our family.
