We learned that Barbie is both timeless and constantly evolving, a seeming contradiction but women can not be contained in a box. Barbie is the foundation of civilization and a wonder of the world. It's modern but cozy. Gone is the Easy Bake Oven and replaced by cutting edge technology, like 3D scanners and a snow machine which will whiten your teeth brighter than a polar bear in a blizzard. Dr. Massol's office is anchored by Rosa Barbie, a wunderkind whose multifaceted talent assists Dentist Barbie and keeps the office running like clockwork.  As a testament to Dr. Massol's miraculous skills, just days ago, my friend had an unfortunate fall and shattered several teeth. It was awful, requiring a trip to the emergency room, stitches, CT scans, and X-rays. Less than 48 hours after the accident, my friend's teeth looked better than Ryan Gosling's on a Hollywood red carpet. The transformation was shocking. Now that I live in NYC, I have found my Dentist!!! Such a modern office with all the new bells and whistles, including a snazzy video monitor to show me all my x-rays on right at the dentist chair. A young but clearly experienced dentist also made the visit very nice, definitely not your typical dentist. I also got some great free whitening trays with my first visit. This is the best dentist I've ever seen, and I am picky and have seen dentists who are far more expensive and hippie and experiential/holistic blah-de-blah-de-blah. Now that I've moved, I actually miss going to Dr. Massol, which sounds crazy, but it's true. Dr. Massol was so professional, yet calming and down to earth. She explained every procedure to me with extreme patience and dealt with other dentists' previous work without having that "ugh your last dentist(s) did EVERYTHING WRONG" mythos--the focus was on improving conditions in my mouth, not on asserting Dr. Massol's own dental might (which is substantial). They even developed a separate Pandora station for me to listen to (and this was, like, 2 years ago at least). This station is probably the only thing I would have improved. I think the one negative review below, based on being late to an appointment, speaks for itself (and does remind us all about the problems of being late to appointments in general, since unfortunately doctors have other responsibilities after they are off the job) as a bit of an OD response to the frustrations of transportation in NYC, rather than the quality of dentistry in Dr. Massol's office. read more

Dr Sonja Massol and her dental assistant Grace are wonderful. I have been seeing them for 2 years now and I can't speak more highly of my experience. Dr Massol redid my bonding and it looks really natural. I also love our conversations when I go in. They are just really great people, and somehow they remember what was going on last time I saw them and we always pick up the conversation where we left off. Dr. Massol is outstanding!! I was in NY visiting family for the holidays and had a dry socket from wisdom teeth extraction the week before. What my oral surgeon said "would fix itself eventually" turned out to be an excruciatingly painful infection that was getting worse and worse. Dr. Massol fit me in and took such good care of me and I can't recommend her enough. A couple specifics: The office: absolutely state of the art. She has really comfortable, high tech chairs and everything is completely sterile and pristine. Her assistant: Grace is the sweetest, warmest, most wonderful assistant. Along with Dr. Massol she makes you feel really comfortable and at ease. The anesthesia: I am NOT a fan of needles to having to be numbed up makes me pretty antsy. I don't know how she did it but I could barely feel the injection. To me, that's a sign that Dr. Massol is both an excellent dentist and has a high level of patient empathy because she wants to make your experience as painless as possible. 3 cheers for Dr. Massol, I just wish I lived in NY so I could see her as my normal dentist!! Dr. Massol and Rosa at the front were absolutely excellent. I found the practice on Yelp when I decided I wanted to give myself a Christmas present - teeth whitening! This type of procedure definitely falls into the "luxury" and "treatyoself" category of things to buy, so I turned to Yelp to make sure I was spending my money wisely. The great reputation and reviews are what drew me in, and these raves are well-justified. You're welcomed with nice smelling candles, a plushly-cushioned bench at the front, and Rosa! Dr. Massol very thoroughly explained the procedure to me and that there was a risk of it hurting, as well as all of the protective measures she'd be utilizing to make sure it was as pain-free as possible. I feel like she very clearly set expectations for what the procedure would be like and followed through with her level of attention to me! During the procedure I got to watch Netflix ("New Girl"!) and they gave me a whiteboard to write on incase I needed anything. The follow-up steps were clearly outlined - don't have any food of color for about 3 days (beets, coffee, red wine, salsa, etc) because that could stain the teeth you've just worked so hard to brighten! I bought a ZOOM teeth whitening deal on Livingsocial and was a bit weary as I never had my teeth whitened before.... upon arrival all my worries were quenched. Dr. Massol was so nice, patient and extremely knowledgeable.They offered a choice of watching Friends or choosing my own music on Pandora while I waited. (extreme plus!) For the whitening; I got the 40% strength vs. 25% and I walked out without any pain; just the slightest sensitivity. She is knowledgable, friendly, professional, and as a hot latina easy on the eyes :) She has top of the line technology.
