I've been searching for a cleaning company and I have to say I'm so happy I gave Master Green Cleaning a shot! The service provided is great every time! Marta, the cleaning lady I've had the past couple times, always does an excellent job, and she's a lovely lady - that's a plus. I work long hours, and don't have much time to clean myself, it's been so nice to have her help me out with that. I love that she's been very detailed with her cleanings and I wish I could have her there everyday to make my apartment look the way she does! "Initially I thought the cleaning itself was just OK---not great. We we saddened and hurt when we discovered, 5 bottles of collectible wines went missing on an afternoon when the cleaning person was the only person in my home. When i called, the response was immediate denial, not even the courtesy of a call from the owner to talk through what transpired. Obviously, I'm never using them again. If you use them, only do it when you can observe the entirety of the cleaning personally, or with nanny cams in every space of your home. I was extremely happy with our cleaning. I think I've used hundred of different cleaners and so far, I am very happy with this one!!!!. I'm super picky and a clean freak! They sent, same day, a cleaner that has done such great job, and they mentioned they might be able to do laundry & ironing, just need to tell in advance. Jackpot! This is by far the best cleaning service in the city AND they are reasonably priced! I have used Handybook, Homejoy, etc....and they never lived up to my expectations. No one is perfect, but what am I paying you for if you can't even clean as well as I do?!? But back to Master Green Cleaning. They are all very polite, on time, and most importantly great at what they do! I have used them several times since the winter and I will keep using them until I am no longer living in Chicago. Every person who has come has been great, but I particularly like Marta. Luba also is very good. Also, they only charge $19/hour and for the work they do, it's a steal! I love that I can book online and select the number of hours I would like, plus opt for them to bring their own materials for a small 30some dollar fee. This is the best cleaning service I've ever hired. Over the past 10 years we've had a variety of companies for either out home or my husband's office and this one tops all of them by far. Luba, our usual cleaning lady is perhaps the kindest and most hard working person I've ever met. She's greeted by my two dogs and 3yr old as she walks in the door and takes time to give my son a hug and the dogs a pat on the head. As an owner of two rescue dogs it's a huge bonus to find a company that is comfortable with dogs being left to roam as they clean. The few times Luba has been unavailable the other people who have come have been just as wonderful. In the past, I've always been less than satisfied with other companies. Either the job wasn't done to my standards (baseboards not wiped down, dog hair still visible, etc), or the people who came to my home were unreliable or unfriendly. This has never been the case with Master Green Cleaners. I remain impressed with the service each time. My bf and I made our first appointment with Master Green Cleaning today and we are very pleased with their level of service! My bf failed to get the woman's name who cleaned for us (oops!), but the apartment looked amazing when I returned home from work today. I was not expecting her to wash our bedsheets but she washed and remade our bed AND the guest bed, so that was a wonderful surprise! I hate to leave a negative review for these guys, but they need to get it together. Hopefully management reads this carefully. At a glance: -Some of the cleaners do a great job, others do not. There are no standardized methods they use; each one cleans using their own techniques (or lack thereof) -Some cleaners speak NO English or have very limited English, so you should communicate every single thing you want done with the office, and provide detailed instructions. -The office frequently changes booking times, asking if they can clean at a different time. -They clean slower than some other cleaning companies, which is fine by me if the job is well done, but when it's not, it's just upsetting. I pay for 4 or 5 hours worth of work to clean my 1-bedroom apartment, and I only have them clean the foyer, 1 bathroom, the kitchen, dining room, and living room (in the interest of time well spent, they do not clean my bedroom) Details: The first cleaning I ever had with them was WONDERFUL, so I believe the 5-star reviews are genuine. The young woman who cleaned my apartment spoke enough english to communicate and did an excellent, thorough job. I was very impressed. When I booked a second time, I asked for the same woman I had before. She did a great job again. This time I asked her for her name, and I couldn't understand if she was saying Olga, Holga, or Helga. After I asked her to repeat herself, I didn't want to ask again, it seemed rude. Well I tried to book my third appointment using them, and thought I was asking for the right woman, but they sent a different person. Perhaps I got the name wrong? Anyways, this second cleaner spoke very little English, so there were a few things I would have had her do differently if I had been better able to communicate. For example, she didn't really dust & I didn't like how she cleaned the floors. But she did an adequate job overall. I've had worse. The most recent cleaning I received was a third woman, this one spoke NO english, and did not understand my demonstrations. She was also older, and just went much slower. I felt bad for her, and I do not want to be on yelp writing a negative review about an older immigrant cleaning woman. This gives me no joy. But for starters she DIDN'T VACUUM THE RUGS. She did a great job sweeping & vacuuming under things with the hand extension, but she spent at least an hour & a half BRUSHING rugs with a floor brush. For the record, I own TWO vacuums. I tried to show her how both work, and demonstrate them. I pointed, gestured, but she didn't seem to get it, and was getting flustered. Since I was working from home, I needed to get back to my work, and I just gave up. I don't appreciate paying for someone to spend twice as long doing a task half as well as it should be done. It would have taken no more than 30 minutes with my upright vacuum. To management, I have to say, if one of your employees can't use a vacuum & can't communicate in English, you can't send them out by themselves! There were also numerous other little things she did in very unorthodox, inefficient ways. Management should spend time *observing* how each employee cleans, and instructing them on how to do things properly. I'm not a stickler for cleaning being done exactly my way, but this was ridiculous. I'm going to have to look for some other cleaners, which is a shame. I'd love to be able to have the same woman come every 2 or 3 weeks. read more

AWFUL! STAY AWAY! These guys were by far the worst cleaners I have ever used! Their complete lack of english makes it impossible to convey any special instructions. They skipped cleaning 80% of what they were supposed to when I paid extra for the stove, fridge, etc. and the 20% they did clean was done very poorly. When I called to get it straightened out they kept giving me the run around. I must have called 10+ times and they would always make up some excuse of why they couldn't help me. They even tried to reschedule coming back, but day of they called and cancelled again. WORST CLEANERS EVER! Spend your money on a company that will do right by you! read more

Pros: Things got very clean. They did a through job cons: 1st cleaner spoke enough english to get by but didn't even understand "recycling: so that made communicating a challenge. The second time the Cleaner didn't speak any english (I couldn't give her ANY instructions), main person was constantly adjusting the times (there were snags(, and didn't fully relay my instructions to the cleaner. The result was nearly very dangerous. If you have a straight forward, easy to clean place with NO quarks/ odd instructions, you'll be fine and have a fantastic experience, if you have to explain anything, there will be issues. read more

I have used so many cleaning services around Chicago in the years I have lived here including Handy, Task Rabbit and referrals from friends. Master Green Cleaning BY FAR is the best home cleaning I have ever received. I have used two ladies, Maria and Irene, and they both left my house spotless. I loved that they cleaned old school with a bucket with water and cleaning products, getting deep in the corners and scrubbing the floors. I didn't have to go back and clean anywhere they had missed. I would recommend Master Green Cleaning to anyone who is not only looking for something affordable, but a company you can rely on to get the job done right the first time. Avoid this place, not reputable and clearly trying to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. I have used this service a couple times and have never been very satisfied with their work. It seems like no matter how long you schedule or how detailed instructions you provide, they will always tell you you didn't schedule enough time to clean all of the things that you scheduled, and it doesn't matter what instructions you provided - they don't follow it. We had them come out to clean out new place before moving in, and asked for 4 hours of cleaning very specific items - the kitchen cabinets, the fridge, a quick clean of the bathroom and if there is time, sweep and mop the hardwood floors. We were moving into the place the following day and only wanted a few specific areas cleaned since most of the house will needed to be re-cleaned after the movers come anyway. These instructions were detailed to the scheduler and again to the cleaner. The cleaner showed up 20 minutes early and was angry that I was not there to let her in at that time. After voicing that to me, she spent the next 15 minutes telling me that I did not have the proper implements to clean our place (I had a dozen cleaning chemicals and several other implements, none of which were acceptable apparently) and commented how huge the kitchen was (it is, at best, an average sized kitchen) and how she would not have enough time. So I ran up to Target and purchased what she needed to clean my house, and when I get back, she is vacuuming. I appreciated that she was cleaning my house, but at no point did I tell her to vacuum. After that, it was clear that she had disregarded my detailed instructions and cleaned whatever she felt like cleaning at the house. Right before the 4 hours is up, she starts cleaning the one thing that I stressed was the most important thing for her to do - clean the cabinets. I told her just to leave, and she begged to stay for another half hour to complete. When she finished and it came time to pay, she called her boss Maria and had her yell at me and tell me that I owed more money for the extra time, which is unnecessary, since I was going to pay for the extra time anyway....I was rather confused by the entire interaction. Needless to say, I will never use this place again. Unpleasant, unprofessional, rude, poor work, really no redeemable qualities. Save your money and clean the place yourself. While every person they've sent to clean have been very polite and professional, three were outstanding at their job and three have been sub-par. I remain home while they are here, they have all seemed to work hard, but half of these individuals have neglected to clean areas that I would think are obvious. On one occasion with two people cleaning together, I was working in one of our spare rooms and told them they could skip that room. Somehow, despite having one less room to clean, it took them half an hour longer to finish than it had taken any of the previous people Master Green had sent. Another thing that made this puzzling was how much less they accomplished despite using that extra time and one less room to tackle. The furniture was not vacuumed, the kitchen counters not wiped down, the glass bar not cleaned or even dusted. I don't want to name names because they may have just been having an off-day as we all do, and I still recommend this company as I feel that several of their staff do an exceptional job.
