My husband had booked Wally Park airport parking for me and had given me the QR code to exit. However, the QR code did not work. The gate assistant Selam told me that I needed the original email, which only my husband had, but he didn't have phone signal so I couldn't reach him. I asked to speak with Selam's manager multiple times but she refused. I told her that we had gotten a special deal for agreeing to park on the roof, and after 50 minutes of being unhelpful she finally asked me which intermediary company I used. I didn't know because my husband was the one who booked it. I asked her if she could try the most common company, but she refused to unless I knew for sure. At this point, I had sat in the Wally Park for a full hour trying to get out, and I asked her if I could just pay again to get out (even though I had already paid). She refused; she said that she didn't know how much to charge me. She also asked me how I got in. I told her that the gate was open when I came in on Monday, June 22, and nobody asked me to scan anything. She told me that was impossible and accused me of lying. I told her at this point, she was holding me at the Wally Park against my will, and that it was not my fault that the QR code was not working. She responded that it wasn't HER fault that the QR code was not working. She actually suggested that I call 911. At this point, I had wasted 60 minutes at Wally Park and had no way of getting out, so then I called 911. I explained that Wally Park was falsely trapping me in the parking garage even after I offered to pay a second time (essentially offering to pay twice to resolve this ridiculous situation). Selam started yelling at the 911 operator through my phone that I was lying and that I never offered to pay. Thankfully, at this point, my husband came back into phone range, and told me that he used Park Whiz. Then Selam let me out of the garage. This was the worst parking experience of my life. My time is valuable, and I don't appreciate being called a liar, not being allowed to talk to a manager, being told to call 911, and being told that the fact that their QR code wasn't working was not Wally Park's fault. This was the most unprofessional, rudest customer service I've ever received. To top it off, it turns out the QR code said Park Whiz on it all along. Somehow even though I showed Selam the QR code multiple times, she didn't recognize the significance of this. I would think that staff in the parking garage ought to know how to process Park Whiz QR codes. I deserve a sincere apology from her, which she didn't offer.

It may have been a random fluke, however, my first experience was a disaster at best. After riding 2 stops on the 1 Line, we were all instructed to get off at Ranier Beach stop as there was some sort of police activity prohibiting us from riding further and we at this point were asked to cross the street and wait for a shuttle. About 10 min later, a shuttle arrived however not everyone could fit so this shuttle was jam packed with people! We were told that this shuttle would take us to the Columbia City station and from there, the 1 Line would resume. As it was traffic hour when this all happened, shuttle was slow moving, so probably another 20-30 min later, we arrived. A train was waiting for us and after that detour, the ride was smooth all the way to my destination. I made the mistake of getting off one stop before I intended, so that added another 10min to trip, completely my own stupid fault. So a trip from the airport that should have taken a little under an hour took close to 2 hours for me. Was an interesting experience and for $3, I really shouldn't complain. I also saved my company $100 but also wasted 90min on public transit. And time is money. I think this might have just been a little bad luck and a less frequent occurrence, but it definitely made me not want to take this form of transit ever again. They do get one star because when I mapped it out on Google maps, there was clear warning there was a delay and detour. It was just my poor choice to take a chance and see what happens. However, if the opportunity presents itself again and there were no issues with the Link light rail, I might consider this option again.

I did receive the tickets to the Great Wheel but never used them although they are good up to a year from the ticket's insurance date. I guess you get some of your destination fee back with a $14 food and beverage credit when you charge it to your room, but essentially they are forcing you to dine on the property. To top that off, whenever you purchased food and beverage from any of the food outlets, they charge a mandatory service fee which I guess was okay if you consider that as mandatory tip. Anyhow, what I did like about this hotel is that it was really close to the Symphony light rail stop. However, what was unpleasant was having to push my heavy suitcase up the hill. It seemed like the room was a bit run down particularly the bathroom. The water pressure in my shower was sporadic like it needed a water hammer arrestor. My room smelled like moth balls. The lower level lobby was only accessible via stairs. This is an issue if you had luggage like I did. I think you would have to go back outside and walk on the sidewalk to get to the upper level lobby. Although the staff was very friendly, I was disappointed overall with my stay. Even as ambassadors, we waited two hours for our room despite giving our arrival time at least a week in advance. I get that it was slammed, but it still set the tone. Valet was a full-on mess--cars backed up onto the main street, traffic snarled, and general havoc all around. Again, game day likely amplified this, but it was still frustrating. As for the rooms: outdated. The kind of outdated that feels untouched rather than intentionally retro. There is a real old-school bathtub, which was honestly the most interesting part. Our "Puget Sound view" was technically accurate but amounted to a thin sliver of water if you leaned just right. Would I go back specifically to hotel if i had other choices? No. There are better spots in Seattle that feel more current, more welcoming, and far less stuck in 2003.
