My only con about this place is the manager I had eaten here the night before and they had the smallest selection but it was near closing time not their fault at all I had a honey mustard chicken (My first time) it was fantastic right down to the crispy crust, it was so good I went back the very next day,, well they were very busy with phone orders as I looked over the large selection of slices they had. an employee had called for his work schedule and the manager had a HISSY FIT right there in front of me and hung up the phone asked what I wanted so I ask whats your favorite his reply was there all good I don't eat pizza, so he showed me his true colors and I feel sorry for his workers, it was some of the best pizza I had I will return so people tip the workers well as for the owner he needs a serious attitude adjustment. chill babe lifes too short read more

Trust me on this I am a tough food critic. This four stars is a big compliment though. I got a order for delivery and it came surprisingly quicker than most other places. I've been eating here since 2000 from their Livingston, NJ location on Northfield Ave. I recently discovered their Union location. John, their manager is such a nice man, always helpful and friendly. I love their clams oreganata. I refer to them as culinary crack, as they are so addictive. My favorite sandwich is either the Gormanator or the Roma. read more

I decided to try Master Pizza in Union because I had a busy day and didn't have time to cook. I had a local flavor certificate, so I figured I'd just get dinner from here. I ordered for 5 people. I ordered the Napoli sandwich. The description of Napoli is "Napoli is served with Turkey, Roasted Peppers, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Fresh Mozzarella." When I picked up my order, I checked it as I do from anyplace I order from as I have gotten incorrect orders in the past. I opened the napoli sandwich, and it was hot. No where in the description does it say "hot sandwich." The roasted peppers were missing and the bread was toasted. When I mentioned it to the girl behind the counter, she literally snatched and turned around and walked to the kitchen. The gentleman behind the counter was just as nasty as she was. At this point, I told the other girl, who was much more pleasant to just give me my certificate back and i'll turn it in to local flavor for a credit for somewhere else because that girl was just nasty and I do not even want my order. She had already redeemed it with local flavor, so I basically had no choice other than to pay the difference and take my food. We came home and I didn't even want to eat. The bread on my sandwich was almost black on most parts and hard as a rock. I ordered the sandwich with extra mozzarella and was charged for it, but it had one thin layer across the whole sandwich. I ate the insides only as the bread was hard as a rock. I tasted a bite, and I can only imagine that they over toasted it because it was so stale. Fresh semolina bread should never be toasted. My husband ordered a turkey club, which is traditionally on toast, but was on a stale toasted sub roll instead. I felt especially bad for my 10 year daughter. All she ordered was 2 sides of meatballs. She ate 3 of the 4 and said she was full. When I went to put the other away, it was cold. Not cool, but just out of the refrigerator cold, as was the sauce it was in. I asked her why she didn't say anything and she said it didn't bother her. She is only 10, but I told her to always say something, especially if her food is that cold. I cannot imagine that these people own 4 restaurants. Most of the staff was rude and nasty, the bread was stale and or burnt to the point of being inedible and the food was cold. I have learned my lesson. I should have read some of the reviews before ordering from here. I usually order from Fior D'italia, but they are closed on Sundays. I have been ordering from them for years and never had an issued. The food is always fresh and the staff is professional and friendly, not to mention on point with there orders. read more

My son & I ordered a pepperoni pizza, ham & cheese calzone & a sub from Master Pizza last week. My son is the pickiest man around (don't tell him I said that) and he LOVED everything. They take waaaaay too long for deliveries, it never fails. Working literally down the street from the establishment and it takes over an hour to receive food. This very unacceptable. If you ever deliver from here order 2 hours in advance. Also they shouldn't advertise ordering online for convenience when they actually never receive the online orders. After an hour of waiting...and still waiting my coworker decided to call and apparently something went wrong that our order didn't go through properly yet they were not going to call us and let us know about the delay. Not too sure what happened last time I went but the cracker thin crust was overdone with cheese..making it soggy, limp, and tasteless as the amt of cheese drowned out the taste of the sauce. Nice clean place, but please bring back the freshly baked wheat rolls for subs, last time I ordered an Italian sub on wheat, i received a hard somewhat stale wheat roll when always in the past for that extra dollar or so the chef would use wheat dough and craft a freshly made wheat bread with the most perfect texture from the ovens, nicely cooked with a hint of crunchy-just-baked-bread on the bottom, not overly "bready", was really just right and worth the extra dollar and extra time. Have only ordered pizza after that sub was unfortunately under whelming in comparison... Gotta bring that back guys or give an option instead of the other already baked wheat roll. read more

thought i would write a review while i am sitting here waiting for my sandwich order from an hour ago...it did not arrive with the rest of the delivery. we called, "oh yea, it's sitting right here the driver will bring it right over." that was a half hour ago - they are 5 minutes from me. so, it will be crap when it gets here. it is toasted, it will be mush and soggy. who f'd up - the delivery guy or someone inside? doesn't really matter - your system is not working. seem to have a delivery issue 25% of the time. order wrong, something missing or took forever and food cold. orders aren't cheap. too bad cause the food is generally good,but, they lost me with this one. i will use another place going forward. Sorry, doesn't cut it especially since now i am waiting 45 minutes since my second call. if you are calling for delivery, try another place - it is a crapshoot with master pizza. read more

An all deserving 5 star rating. Where shall I begin. I moved to union a year ago, and being Italian, I love my pizza and Italian food. The pizza here is out of the world good! You can taste the dough, the sauce, and cheese (and toppings If you choose ). Every bite is packed of flavor. Which is something I look for in food. The slices are BIG! I always go in starving and order 2 slices. I never finish! Always taking half home for a midnight snack. I recently had the "Italian hotdog" slice. It had hotdog slices, peppers, onions, and some cheese underneath. No sauce. I asked for ketchup on the side. I tasted it without ketchup and it was delish!!!! I had to use a fork and knife bc there was an abundance of toppings on it. Which is great! After all, that's what you're paying for so you expect quality and quantity. And they delivered both! I then tasted it with ketchup. I must admit, I felt weird Dipping pizza in ketchup, but it was fantastic! My second slice was plain with pepperoni, black olives and onions. Absolutely amazing. Not too much onion where it over powers all the other flavors and not just a little. It was perfect. Again, huge slices! We also got garlic knots with sauce on the side. Can I say heavenly!!! Not too greasy, just the right amt of it. And the garlic was noticeable but not overpowering at all. Sauce is fantastic as well. I highly recommend going there. The service is very efficient and friendly, clean and positive atmosphere. Prices are typical for a pizza joint. Worth every penny. You will leave smilimg, full belly, and wanting to go back. Ordered from the Union, NJ location. First off, let me say, the pizza was excellent, the delivery was right on the button and the delivery person was very good. However, an observation and a suggestion. Ordered online. Printed menu that is shown on the website under the heading "Our Menu" said $13.95 for the item. When ordered using the online ordering through "BringDat", the item was priced at $14.75. When order was delivered, the item was billed at $15.95. It would be helpful if the pricing is consistent throughout. I would have given four stars, but because of the pricing discrepancy I felt two stars was the best I could do. I know the difference in the prices shown and what was billed is only a couple of dollars, but it just doesn't seem right. With that said, and as mentioned earlier I would still be inclined to go back and order again because what I had was very good, and the delivery person was great. Maybe in future they can get all the published prices in line. read more

I was not very please with master pizza today. I order from them quite frequently because I work a block away. They still charge me the $1.25 delivery fee which I think is pathetic. Also, I was given a dish today that looked like straight up poop. It was drowning in balsamic vinegar, no chicken in the meal, and it simply looked disgusting. Not presentable at all. I called to complain and the manager insisted it was what I had ordered and there was nothing he could about it. He was very much a stickler, but finally he agreed to send me something else on the menu for free. Today's service was horrible. We have had other issues at the office as well when ordering with them. They were definitely much better when they first opened. read more

I ordered a pie of plain pizza from this establishment on three occasions and received burnt pizzas. The bottom of the pizzas were completely black. They were inedible. I thought it was an isolated incident but it is not. I really like the Stromboli so I kept giving Master pizza another chance but I am never going to order pizza from there again. The pizza was well cooked and the crust was crispy, unlike some other pizzas I've had from other restaurants that were soggy and greasy. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Best pizza place in the area. I've tried a lot of different things from here. Garlic knots are amazing and i get them every time. The buffalo chicken pizza is also pretty good, not as amazing as the veggie pizzas though. The eggplant parm sub is delicious. The chicken alfredo pasta is great. The onion rings are okay, they're not greasy which is good but I wish they were a bit crispier. The gyro is also pretty good! This is def. my go to place when I wanna order out. Delivery people are always friendly and on time. I don't really like to go there in person even though I'm in the area because it's always hard to find parking. read more

Have been going to this pizzeria for about 4 months now and I have to say, it has never failed me! I have recommended it to co-workers and family members and they all love the pizza! I've read some of the reviews below and cannot agree with the negative comments. I have not had 1 negative experience to date and I go there at least once a week. I ordered a few times from this place and the food is just ok. Nothing to write home about. But the food is not the issue. The issue is the female manager that is always in there. She is completely nasty and rude, especially to females. I thought I was the only one who had this problem, but after speaking to numerous other customers, they have all said the same thing. She will stand there and talk about you with the other employees while you are standing there. I will never go there again.
