Mastercrafthi remodeled our 22 year old kitchen and laundry room from ground up. Overall project was executed well. 4.5* would have been more appropriate but I decided to give 5* due to their skills in certain areas, responsiveness, always on time, and good communication with us. The goods are: Team was highly responsive, professionals, and very accommodating to our requests. Everyone worked hard without exception and everyone was pleasant and respectful including Brad and Spencer. We were very pleased with that. A couple of people I would like to single out. Alex the carpenter was fantastic and extremely skilled, resourceful, saved multiple situations that could have been bad without him. Thank you Alex for a phenomenal job. Our backsplash tiles were ribbon mesh type that each tile consists of at least 15 small and large pieces that need to be cut carefully and laid out properly. Johnny the tile guy did a great job, was very patient, skilled, took his time measuring and was very accurate laying out the tiles. The final backsplash product was amazing. Thank you Johnny for a job well done. Overall the final completed kitchen and laundry room were much better than what we expected. Thanks to all involved including project manager Gabe and general manager Bryan. The not so goods are: Countertop fabricator and subcontractor to Mastercrafthi did an okay job. The owner dismissed our concerns and needs, the subcontractor team was understaffed, rushed the work and did bad job calking certain sections. I would not recommend them. Drywall work and final texturing is average at best. I would recommend that Mastercrafthi hires a better skilled person for drywall work in general. Communication between management and professionals doing the work could have been better. Some errors has occurred but corrected later, not a big deal but still I would recommend that Mastercrafthi implement better procedure for proper communication between management and professionals doing the actual work. So the 4.5-5*s is well deserved. I will definitely consider Mastercrafthi for future remodeling projects and I definitely recommend them. Job well done guys. Thanks a million. Antoine read more

We had Mastercraft install some extra storage space including a large pantry and another one under the stairs in the house we had just bought. They came out quickly with proposal and started the work right away. They were able to finish in a very short time. Bryon was very responsive and kept us abreast all along the way. Eli, their Master Carpenter, is very skilled and very easy to work with. Even after the jobs were done, they were available to help with some minor issues we had with the house. The one thing I liked is that it is basically a "one stop shop". We used their plumbers to install a Moen monitor required by our insurance. I would highly recommend Mastercraft and will probably be using them for future projects. read more

Our drains were having issues, and Bryson and Michael were at our place within an hour. They quickly fixed both sinks and were incredibly friendly and polite. 45 minutes after leaving, we had an emergency with our shower flooding into our laundry room, and Bryson immediately returned to fix the shower. We had a pipe break under our house and from the day Charlie Case came out I could not have asked for more from a company. They were out within hours of my call and took care of the broken pipe immediately. We had a fairly big amount of damage as the subfloor was warped and the walls had water damage. This is my second time using Mastercraft Home Improvement. In June of 2020 we renovated our kitchen and most recently our Master Bathroom. I absolutely love this team. Kayla and Brian were excellent during the bidding process. After my experience with the Kitchen renovation, I knew they were the team I wanted for the master bathroom. Gabe, the project manger, is hands down one of the best in the industry. He is honest, excellent in communicating the process and procedures, forthcoming with any potential challenges, and accurate in his assessments. He was in constant contact with me either via phone or text to let me know the next steps in the renovation process. I truly respect him for setting expectations and exceeding them. Gabe, is diligent to ensure he checks his teams work, accessible when you have a question, and responsive. Jimmy was amazing as well. He helped out a couple days and again just very responsive to any questions I had and communicated with his team would be at the house. I worked with two of the Tile Specialists at Mastercraft. I worked with Frank during my kitchen renovation and Johnny during my shower. Both were amazing and took such great care of making sure that they completed the tile work with such care and accuracy. Most recently, Johnny worked on our shower. He told me he would be at the house at 7:30am. He was at the door at 7:30 am every day. He would connect with me during the day to ask a question on my preference and would explain to me the process. He did an AMAZING job. My home is about 20 years old, and it was due for a facelift, both interior and exterior. I looked at several companies, some were obviously more expensive than others, but you usually get what you pay for. I also looked at ratings and photos of work done. Ultimately, for the interior work, I opted for Mastercraft, based upon ratings and my initial impression. This process started with a consultant walking through my home along with me, going over the basics about what I wanted to do. She (Megan) was very helpful, and had several visits and many calls/texts with ideas. We met at a local granite/tile dealer where I made my choices. She was also helpful in helping sort out some early issues, none of which were serious in nature, just my choices for things versus what they budgeted for these items. Just to give you an idea of what I did, I replaced the granite in my kitchen, a substantial amount. I also placed granite in two bathrooms, and demo'd a tub and shower to create a large walk in shower. Be prepared to pay more than the estimate. The only way to avoid that would be to let Mastercraft staff choose your items, or strictly remain under the limit, and I can almost guarantee you that would be very difficult. In fact, the company did try to strongly suggest some things that they either had or were prepared to order for the job, many of which I vetoed. For example, sinks, faucets and the like, if you have a vision, it will very possibly be different from their vision, we all have different taste when it comes to our home. Communication and staying very familiar with what is happening is a must. The end product was very good, but getting there was a bit bumpy at times. The company changed the foreman about half way through my job, and this did cause some issues. (I truly do not believe it was the fault of the new foreman Diego, or the previous foreman Brian, but rather the process.) The original plan for some specific areas I had discussed and agreed upon had not been memorialized to a written detailed plan (diagram), other than a piece of a legal paper pad, with a handwritten inked diagram on it, that left out some pertinent info. What would have been better would be like a professional diagram or blueprint, however you wish to describe it. Something solid to refer to for times like this. The Foreman that replaced Brian (Diego) and ultimately finished the project was very involved and committed to getting things done to my satisfaction. Diego was very tenacious in getting things addressed, and did lots of follow up to see the job through to completion. Diego is very dependable and saw things through to the end. The previous foreman (Brian) was also very good, and had some great ideas. He was transferred to a different region before completing my project. The manager (Oscar) was very good with communication, and greatly helped in seeing things through to a satisfactory conclusion. The Sales Rep. (Megan) that came out to my home and helped through the process should also be commended. I would recommend this company, the work done is excellent. read more

We had no clue where this was located. Manny went out seeking for the gauge, and found it on the side of the building. He had our bathrooms fixed in just a few minutes. The Mastercraft team is full of true professionals all around and lived up to their 5 star reputation. We had a leak at our property that required an insurance claim and full kitchen remodel. Janelle got in their quickly to quote the job and worked with the insurance company until the situation was resolved and work approved, which was not an easy thing to do. They started work as soon as possible and finished the job in the timeframe they quoted, which looks great. The quality of work is top-notch. Gus is AMAZING. He is professional, patient, communicates at the appropriate levels and made it all happen. He was excellent as the project manager and I couldn't be happier he was on the job. Given the current state of the industry, with endless backlogs and jumps in material price, them finishing the job on time was nothing short of incredible. They have material in stock and have all the contractors in house so there isn't a ton of unnecessary delays waiting for other people to move around their calendars. They are able to move things around within their company from other jobs to get it done quick and right. Mastercraft has my highest recommendation and I hope to work with them in the future. Extremely good communication and fast response times. The CEO Joe Martin personally came out to conduct a feasibility review of my home with the intent to perform a major interior addition. He then returned with a framing expert and one of his construction pros to take measurements and make calculations. He and his team put together a detailed review... Obviously investing a lot of time even though I was still getting other bids. That is just the type of professionals they are. I was really impressed with their work ethic. And their quote/estimate was reasonable, especially considering the quality of materials and design they proposed to use. I had every intention of going with Mastercraft on this costly project, but sadly a major water leak ate up much of my funds and put that project on hold. I recently contacted them to come out for an estimate on a smaller deck enclosure project, as well as take another look at that interior addition. Once again, Joe came out quickly. Mastercraft is not a bad company. Their work is good, but overall, it feels like they'd taken on too much work at once and were struggling to get projects done more efficiently with the size of the team they had. They aren't the cheapest, and they couldn't manage their time efficiently (or they were understaffed) but at least most of the work done was pretty high quality. We believe a 3 star review is fair because of the problems they admitted to having with their team during our project which led to undue stresses effecting our overall remodeling experience. Most of their team were nice people, happy to see us and good at what they do. Unfortunately, we feel like our project was a victim of circumstance, resulting in confusion, delays and costs that we did not anticipate. We're still thankful for the work done and appreciate the efforts made by Mastercraft's dedicated teammates that stuck with us throughout their respective phases, but we're happy this project is over and done with. After getting 5 estimates, some from Yelp contractors and some from neighbor recommendations, we decided on Mastercraft of Carlsbad. Janelle and Joe seemed down to earth and very professional in our initial meetings. The process went pretty smoothly considering this was a major( at least to us) master bath remodel. The tradespeople removed a huge cast iron pedestal tub from the 90's and turned that area into an awesome 2 headed shower. New tile flooring, vanity, lights, , window, and linen closet were also added. Mastercraft's tradespeople were all excellent and detail oriented. We are so very pleased with our beautifully remodeled kitchen. Their quote was half of what another company gave us and the final cost was right in line with their original quote. Every employee was a pleasure to work with. We had everything replaced in the kitchen but didn't make any structural changes--so it was a relatively small job. And yet we didn't feel at all like we were squeezed in between larger or more important jobs. They stayed until the last bit was done, arrived on time every day, and were respectful of our privacy and property. If I could give this company 6 stars I would. I tried fixing a leaking gasket on my garbage disposal to no avail since I was not able to reconnect the appliance to the sink. After calling 2 other plumbing outfits, I inadvertently called Mastercraft not knowing they were located far outside San Diego. Joe was extremely helpful by reassuring me he would get the problem fixed with a price that wouldn't break the bank. One hour later, in walks John, an extremely friendly, reliable, and professional gentleman who was able to fix the issue in about 20 minutes.
