I had a great experience with Fireside Hearth and Home in Utica. Their service technician, Brock,…read moredid an outstanding job. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to make sure everything was working perfectly before he left. What really stood out was how clean and careful he was while working. He kept the area neat the entire time and made sure everything was spotless when the job was finished. It's clear he takes pride in his work and cares about doing the job right. Excellent service, great attention to detail, and a very positive experience overall. I would definitely recommend Fireside Hearth and Home to anyone looking for quality service.

I have been a customer for almost 30 years…read more Several weeks ago, I had my fireplace serviced. There was a problem with the flame. A service representative came and fixed the problem. He said I was good to go. Two days ago, the flame would not come on again. I called to explain what happened and tried to get another appointment. The earliest they had was an appointment in January. While I understand that this is a busy time of the year their position was there was nothing, they could do about it because they were completely booked. To me that is not a customer focused policy. It's hard for me to believe that there was not a way that they could have found a way to come and fix a problem that the service tech had not fixed. However, I realize that they have the right to run their business as they see fit. Just like I have the right to go elsewhere to have my fireplace serviced. That's exactly what I have done. My first of future appointments is next week.

I had bought my first home with a wood burning fireplace/chimney. I am new to fireplaces, so I went…read morewith this business to inspect and update anything needed to make my fireplace in good working order for the winter. When they came out, they got my wife (I work all day, so my wife had to deal with these people). Upon doing their inspection, they told my wife the following which was texted to me by her (see photo 1). We went ahead and hired this company to do the work and make those replacements (see photo 2 on how it looked before the work was done. What they said was going to be a week took almost three weeks and several phone calls with an update on what's going on. They came and did the work and we paid them. I'm going to assume they weren't going to think we were going to look at their work (please see photos 3 and 4 which is what we paid roughly 1800 dollars for). Needless to say I wasn't happy, and neither was my wife. She reached out to them and communicated what I thought was going on with their workmanship (please see photo number 5 for their reply). For them to actually argue that the collar they put on wasn't almost completely if not totally mangled and bent is absurd. Their reply was beyond mind boggling. We decided to have them come out and replace the mangled and bent collar (see photo 6 for the replaced collar). Also see photo 7 of the mess on my lawn they didn't clean up. The fact that they replaced the shoddy workmanship did help and ultimately prevent a complaint with the BBB and/or a potential lawsuit, but that is the last business I will do with these clowns. I will be giving my money and repeat business to a different chimney/fireplace company. Please take this review into consideration if you choose to go with this business.

Chris Hurley completed a project on my home. The sidewalk to…read morethe front porch required resurfacing and the chimney had several bricks missing. What I noticed with Chris's approach to work was that he completed the project professionally and to the specifications intended. Chris senior and his son showed cooperative teamwork, working as efficiently as two adults, as such the project was completed early. The work site was kept clean and well organized. Given Chris' performance on this project I highly recommend Chris Hurley and sons. Alex

The original masonry project was for $500. This included the contractor paying for materials (the…read moreconcrete and the "parge" materials). I then asked him if he can do a railing with the understanding since it is not his expertise that I was buying the railing and the screws. This project was originally quoted over a phone call for $300 which he then tried to ask for more and I told him if he was not sticking to his word that he could take the railing project out and continue on with work on the chimney only. The remainder of the chimney (his expertise so materials like the first job should have been included in the job quote) was to be $500. He stated he would stick to his quote to complete the requested job (railing and chimney) for $850 the 50 extra for the concrete screws needed to complete the install of the railing. Once he completed the railing he requested to be paid $500 now $300 for the chimney. I agreed to this with the understanding that the chimney would then be knocked down to 300. He then back tracked multiple times trying to get more money for the chimney by sending materials costs to me (which any contractor should already have factored this into the quote and like was previously factored into the original quote). I then declined services after calling out the inconsistencies. He then proceeded to text me again to apologize for not sticking to his word and "being a good guy" would complete the project as originally stated. Which I then refused again. He proceeded to send a long message trying to justify all his actions and lack of sticking to his word. I would never hire this company again as they clearly are not professionals with quoting out jobs and blaming the consumer that they didn't do things properly.
